Making a Line into A String

I need to make a horizontal line, a certian number of pixels long into a String or at least displayable in a label. How do you do it?

The best would be to draw an image onto a label...

    I want the first line of that big stacktrace in a String variable.
    How ?

    A trick is to issue e.printStackTrace() against a memory-based output object.
    void      printStackTrace(PrintStream s)

  • I want to read the content of a text file dropped in a watched folder into a string variable

    I have a workbench process with 2 variable.
    inDoc (DataType=Document/input/required)
    outStr (DataType = String/output)
    The document being passed to the workflow is a text file with 4 lines of text in it.  when the text file is dropped into the watched folder, it will be assigned to the inDoc parameter in the workflow.
    My workflow needs to extract the 4 lines of text and write it into a string (outStr).
    Id like to use the FileUtilsService.ReadString service but i can't since its input parameter is the file path.  When i do, i get the following error...

    which is what i expected...
    I've also tried with the Script.executeScript to call some java code but im not too strong in java and in all the examples i find, the file pointer requires a file path.
    import java.io.*;
    FileInputStream f = new FileInputStream(patExecContext.getProcessDataValue("/process_data/inDoc"));
    OR
    File f = new File(patExecContext.getProcessDataValue("/process_data/inDoc"));
    OR
    File f = patExecContext.getProcessDataValue("/process_data/inDoc");
    Any clue how to resolve my problem?

    Try the following code snippet to read the String content from the file recieved through watched folder endpoint.
    com.adobe.idp.Document inputDoc = patExecContext.getProcessDataDocumentValue("/process_data/inDoc");
    java.io.InputStream inStream = inputDoc.getInputStream();
    byte[] dataBuffer = new byte[inStream.available()];
    inStream.read(dataBuffer);
    String strData = new String(dataBuffer);
    patExecContext.setProcessDataStringValue("/process_data/outStr",strData);
    The code is not tested, hence if you find any mistakes, correct and test the functionality.

  • Reading any value from table into a string (Especially date etc..)

    How would I read any value from a table into a string?
    Currently doing the following...
    data ret_val type string.
    select single (wa_map-qes_field) from z_qekko into ret_val
    where
    angnr = _angnr.
    When the source field is a date it bombs though.
    The result goes into a BDCDATA-fval.
    regards
    Dylan.

    Tried...
    1    DATA: lp_data TYPE REF TO DATA.
    2    FIELD-SYMBOLS: <value> TYPE ANY.
    3    CREATE DATA lp_data LIKE (wa_map-qes_field).
    4    ASSIGN lp_data->* TO <value>.
    5    SELECT SINGLE (wa_map-qes_field) FROM zquadrem_qekko INTO <value> WHERE angnr = _angnr.
    Complains that (wa_map-qes_field) is not defined in line 3.
    Think that the bracket thing is only available via SQL.
    What about CREATE DATA lp_data type ref to object. ?
    Would the above declaration work?
    regards

    </rdf:RDF>now my first attempt at pulling this off worked just fine, but only for the female demographics, since the tags for female and male are identical (only the numbers/data is different) and my parser would stop after reaching the first round of tags specified.
    here's part of my code for that section, located in the main (response is the xml string returned from server):
    while ((temp = in.readLine()) != null)
                 response += temp + "\n";
            temp = null;
            in.close ();
    int left = response.indexOf("<census1:under5Years rdf:datatype=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema#integer\">");
              int right = response.indexOf("</census1:under5Years>");
                   // pull out the text inside the parens
                   String parsed = response.substring(left+77, right);

                        Group1Adub = Math.ceil(Group1Adub);
                        int Group1A =(int)Group1Adub;
                        double Group1Bdub = parseddub*.75;//75% for 1to4Yr
                        Group1Bdub = Math.ceil(Group1Bdub);
                        int Group1B =(int)Group1Bdub;
    //..need to basically duplicate this for 3 other age groups
    int Group1 = Group1A;
    System.out.println("Server response:\n" + "Female");
              System.out.println("Under 12 Months:    " + Group1);now basically, everything works great for the female data, but i would like to somehow loop this or selectively parse by line and then extract information from those selected lines. any thoughts? i would really appreciate some insight thanks.

    lol no offense taken. sorry for the confusion, please disregard my earlier statements... :)
    i actually was able to get the thing working, i just didn't quite understand what i was doing at first.
    however, i noticed that the regex only handles the first four lines of each group (male and female). i was wondering if there was a way to do it that's non-sequential?

    [864, 949, 875, 534]
    same format for male of course. i'm just not sure how to edit the regex so that it can select only the lines i'm concerned with...? thanks so much i really appreciate this.

  • Split a multiline string from TextEdit into multiple strings

    Hi all,
    I have a small question. I have a string that comes from a multiline TextEdit used for comments. This string has to be split into multiple strings with max 72 chars. The wrapping is set to "hard".
    Can anybody help me on this?
    Thanks
    Francisco

    Hi Francisco,
    this is the complete code I tested, a bit ugly concerning the println etc... (****, not formatting here?):
    package com.btexx;
    import java.util.StringTokenizer;
    import com.sapportals.htmlb.Button;
    import com.sapportals.htmlb.Form;
    import com.sapportals.htmlb.TextEdit;
    import com.sapportals.htmlb.enum.TextWrapping;
    import com.sapportals.htmlb.event.Event;
    import com.sapportals.htmlb.rendering.IPageContext;
    import com.sapportals.htmlb.rendering.PageContextFactory;
    import com.sapportals.portal.prt.component.AbstractPortalComponent;
    import com.sapportals.portal.prt.component.IPortalComponentRequest;
    import com.sapportals.portal.prt.component.IPortalComponentResponse;
    public class TextEditExample extends AbstractPortalComponent
        public void doContent(IPortalComponentRequest request, IPortalComponentResponse response)
            IPageContext pageCtx = PageContextFactory.createPageContext(request, response);
            Event lastEvent = pageCtx.getCurrentEvent();
            if (lastEvent == null) {
                Form form = pageCtx.createFormDocument("myFormDocument");
                TextEdit te = new TextEdit("Edit_Text");
                te.setId("TextEditID");
                te.setText("Text to change - or just add text");
                te.setWrapping(TextWrapping.HARD);
                te.setTooltip("Edit and/or add text");
                te.setRows(10);
                te.setCols(72);
                form.addComponent(te);
                Button btn = new Button("MyButton");
                btn.setOnClick("react");
                form.addComponent(btn);
                pageCtx.render();
            } else {
                TextEdit te = (TextEdit) pageCtx.getComponentForId("TextEditID");
                String text = te.getText();
    //            for (int j = 0; j < text.length(); j++) {
    //                System.out.println(text.getBytes()[j] + " - " + text.substring(j, j+1));
                StringTokenizer st = new StringTokenizer(text, "nr");
                String[] texts = new String[st.countTokens()];
                while (st.hasMoreTokens()) {
                    System.out.println("Line : " + st.nextToken());
    I swear, I did not press Return within the TextEdit box, and after that, 13/10 appeared within the text. If just this code does not work the same on your machine, then it seems to be a bug in (your) htmlb (because my P/HF are the most actual, at least they have been yesterday).
    Hope it helps

  • Read into a string instead of datastream

    Hi,
    Would anybody please help me this? I need to read a file (e.g. test.prn) into a String (Not a stream), how can I do that?
    Thanks
    Hung

    An easier way to read each line in is to use BufferedReader.
    BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(new FileInputStream(file)));
    String line = reader.readLine();
    while(line != null)
       //do something
       line = reader.readLine();
    }

  • Concatenate Primary Key Fields of an internal table into a String.

    Hi,
    I have a dynamic internal table created.
    In the dynamic internal table,
    How to concatenate all the primary keys of that row concatenated into a string and non primary keys into a different string.
    Can some one help me on this.
    E.g:
    Itab1 has 3 Primary fields and 3 Non primary key fields and it has 2 records.
    Table     col1     col2     col3     col4     col5     col6
    Row1     AA     AB     AC     1     2     3
    Row2     ZA     ZB     ZC     1     2     3
    The following is needed.
    Itab2 will have the concatenate strings
                       Key                               Nkey
    Row1        AAABAC                      010203
    Row2        ZAZBZC                       010203
    Thanks,
    Chaithanya

    C,
    Try something like this -  Use an ASSIGN in a LOOP:
      data: lv_PK type string.
      data: lv_non_PK type string.
      field-symbols: lv_str type string.
      assign local copy of initial line of gt_table to <ls_table>.
      loop at gt_table.  " this is your table.
        do n times.  " n = 6 in your case
          if n < 4.
             assign component sy-index of structure <ls_table> to <lv_str>.
             concatenate <lv_str> to lv_PK.
       else.
             assign component sy-index of structure <ls_table> to <lv_str>.
             concatenate <lv_str> to lv_Non_PK.
         endif.
        enddo.
        append <ls_table> to <gt_table>.
      endloop.

  • Merge an internal table into a string stream

    Hello,
    i need to merge an internal table (2 column) layout:
    ELEMENT
    VALUE
    into one string stream.
    E.g.:
    ELEMENT | VALUE
    test1   | 1111111111111111111
    test1   | 2222222222222222222
    result should be:
    test1   | 11111111111111111112222222222222222222 (= type string!)
    too bad you cant use offset while working with a field of type string and im sure there is a ABAP class which does do this.

  • Set encoding to read a file into a string

    in my Coding i Want to read a file into a string like this
    File myFile = new File (Dateipfad);

                    line = myBis.readLine();
      myBis.close();
    ] now i just want to set an encoding "ISO-8859-1", so that all `s, `s or `s dont get lost.
    Can Anyone help me please ?!

    You must use java.io.InputStreamReader to set the required encoding.
    See the API for more details.

  • How do you store input from keyboard into a string array

    I am trying to learn java and one of the programs I am trying to write needs to be able to accept a machine hostname at the keyboard and stuff it into a string array element. I am sure I will be using something along the lines of:
    BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(
                             System.in));
                   String str = "";
                   System.out.print("Enter a FQDN to look up: ");
                   str = in.readLine();
    but how do I get the input stuffed into hostname[ ].
    Any hints or assistance will be appreciated.
    Michael

    Well part of. I need to be able to take a random number of hostnames (ie. mblack.mkblack.com, fred.mblack.com, joe.mblack.com, ...) and after the user presses the enter key between each entry, the inputted information is stored in an array element. for example with the three shown above the array would look like this after the user finished.
    hostname {"mblack.mblack.com","fred.mblack.com","joe.mblack.com"};
    the algorithm would be
    Prompt for hostname
    get user input and press enter
    store hostname into array element
    prompt for next hostname or enter with no input to complete entry and execute lookup.class methods.
    I have the program written and working fine if I use a static array where I put the hostnames in the list, but cannot figure out how to get the information from the keyboard to the array element.
    Thanks for the help though, the response is very much appreciated.

  • Line break between strings

    Hi All,
    i want a line break when I'm concatenating 3 strings...
    example:
    <errorid>1</errorid>
    <errorcode>123<errorcode>
    <errormsg>error occcured</errormsg>
    but I cant get a line break after each tag....
    When I'm concatenating I'm getting the string in this way....
    <errorid>1</errorid><errorcode>123<errorcode><errormsg>error occcured</errormsg>
    is there a way i can do that....
    based in the validations there will be more strings to caoncatenate to this existing one....but each one shouldbe in a separate line...
    Please help...
    Thanks in Advance..
    -Satish

    Hi, Satish,
    Sure, concatenate the line-break string (which may be system-dependent) into your string.
    On my system, CHR (10) is a newline; so
    SELECT   'a' || CHR (10) || dummy  AS a
    FROM    dual;produces
    . A
    a
    XThat's one row, one column. You can tell that SQL*Plus recognized that column as being three characters long, since the heading separator is three characters long.
    You might also be able to enter a newline in quotes.
    The following produces the same results on my system:
    SELECT  'a
    ' || dummy  AS a
    FROM    dual;

  • WRITE string with line break inside string.

    I would like to add a line break into a string that I want to write with the WRITE statement, but without using SKIP or NEWLINE or WRITE: \.
    CONCATENATE 'part1'
                ?the_line_break?
                'part2'
      INTO lv_string.
    WRITE lv_string.
    Any idea?

    Interesting requirement..
    WRITE statement does not interpret OS line break codes.
    You've to program to induce line break, try the following example code.
    data: lv_string(20),
          lv_off type i.
    concatenate 'part1'
                '~'
                'part2'
      into lv_string.
    search lv_string for '~'.
    lv_off = sy-fdpos + 1.
    write: at 1(sy-linsz) lv_string0(sy-fdpos), lv_stringlv_off.

  • How do you insert a carriage return into a string ?

    Hi,
    I don't know how to insert a carriage return, \n ,into a string
    without the carriage return being interpeted. I am trying to build
    a string called queryVariable from the file below so that it equates
    to the necessary format for JDBC to execute the query.
    SQL script file:
    declare @x datetime
    select @x = null
    exec OSVBAK01...demand_dump PRODUCT,FULL,@x
    go
    required string format for query:
    "declare @x datetime\n"+"select @x = null\n"+
    "exec OSVBAK01...demand_dump PRODUCT,FULL,@x";
    void Readfile(String path, String infilename) {
    try {
    File file = new File(path + infilename);
         if (!file.exists()) {
         System.err.println("File not found");
         BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader
    (new FileReader(file));
         String str;
         String queryVariable = "";
         StringBuffer sb = new StringBuffer();
         while ((str = in.readLine()) != null) {
         sb.append("\"").append(str).append("\n\"")
    .append("+");
         in.close();
         queryVariable = sb.toString();
         System.out.println(queryVariable);
    } catch (IOException e) {
         System.err.println(e.getCause());
    queryVariable equates to the following after running the code above:
    "declare @x datetime
    "+"select @x = null
    "+"exec OSVBAK01...demand_dump PRODUCT,FULL,@x
    "+"go
    "+
    Any assistance anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks for your time,
    YAM-SSM

    Interesting... that would mean, of course, that in the case of concatenating string literals (outside of loops, as they say), the compiler is optimizing the code to avoid the need for using StringBuffers internally. Actually, it's good to know this, as I wasn't aware of this optimization.
    However, the post wasn't meant to be serious... I hoped that was obvious. Everyone's spouting off nearly the same thing for adding strings and line separators and whatever.
