Making a master out of a slide

I have created a slide and now would like to have it available as a master slide. Is there a way to do this. It was tedious to do to set up all the builds and action and if I can avoid repeating the work, I would love to.

I have an unix box with Solaris 8. I want to make a
router out of this unix box. I configured 2 NIC cards
on it. One card is connected to the lab network
(192.168.1.0) and the other one is connected to a
private network (10.99.1.0).
I am wondering how can I route between the private
network and the lab network?

Advise on making a master cd

So i am at the point where i want to start working towards making a master cd for a distributer, and i was wondering how some of you pros out there are going about this?
If i want to keep my original GB files uncompressed and then burn them to a cd(burning at Audio CD quality), they are not all going to fit on one cd. Most of my GB files are somewhere around 60 to 90 MB, and a CD-R is 700 MB, so i won't be able to fit more than 7 or 8 songs on there. Is this correct?
Would it be better to Burn my songs as Raw Data on several disc's, and then take it to a mastering house, and then will they be able to fit them all on a single master cd?
Any suggestions?

You're confusing a DATA CD with an Audio CD.
A CD will hold 74-80 minutes of audio (depending on the CD). If the length of your music (in time) is less than the maximum size the CD can hold, they will fit.
You can use iTunes to burn an audio CD, however if you want to create a professional "Redbook" compliant (standard) audio CD I'd recommend you get Toast with Jam

Hard to say but most likely you are not doing anything wrong but have some library corruption
What version of iPhoto? Of the OS?
backup your iphoto library, depress the command and option keys, launch iPhoto and rebuild your database

I am making a video out of still images.

I am making a video out of still images. I would like to start zoomed in on a certain image and have the video show the image as it zooms out. I would like the speed of the zoom to be the same from start to finish. How can i achieve this?

My next question - I have a open course menu (TOC). If the learner clicks the Knowledge check page, the knowledge check page is visible, but if you click any other page from knowledge check, it is not going...... by default, it takes to the next page. Capture Now - Making New Master Clips ???

Now i really have a strange thing going on... I am using Capture Now to start an edit session with HDV Footage and it is making NEW Master Clips when there is a stopdown/startup recording on the tape... (a change in setup for a shot)...
I have gone in the User Settings and unclicked all of the stuff dealing with dropframe or timecode breaks with no luck...
Any Help ???

It will make life harder to keep the bin's organized... because i am going to have to view each clip separately -vs- scanning one clip that has all of my b-roll or my uppers / interviews to find the story...
yea i did restart the whole computer and had to reset the capture preferences and such...
I do know about the grief that is associated with timecode breaks in the middle of a shot... dealt with stuff like that in school 7 years ago...

Hide Excel from popping out when creating slide in PowerPoint

Hi, l have an application that will generate PowerPoint and create some chart within the PowerPoint.
i've been using Interop.Powerpoint.Slide.Shapes.AddChart() to create chart in PowerPoint. The momment this function is called, an Excel window will pop out for us to fill in the data. Is there any way to tell Excel window open
in minimize mode/behind other application instead of popping out and became the active window? Even if I doChart.ChartData.Workbook.Application.Visible = false, Excel window still shows up a little while. Some of the device the Excel
window will automatically open behind other application but some don't.

I guess open excel first in background won't work. When we call AddChart() method, an Excel will be pop out for us to fill in the data. By the way, the Excel will be close after a chart is created successfully and another new Excel Window will pop out again
if we call AddChart() method again.

Best practice: Fade out content when slide advances automatically?

I have a course that uses the playbar to navigate and have the slides advancing (for the most part) automatically. Do you recommend setting the last content that's on the slide to fade out? I feel like it's jumpy if it doesn't but looks so sudden too.
Please share your best practices!

This one of those "it depends" questions.
For the very first introductory module of a course I generally do not have the final slide fade out because I usually have a graphic on that final slide that shows what they should click next in the LMS interface to get to the next lesson. So I want that image to remain visible until they shut down the browser window. Doing this has avoided issues with newbie users getting lost in the LMS and not knowing how to proceed.
However, this ends up being unnecessary for all subsequent modules, so for them I usually have the Project End option set to fade out.

Nightmare making DLT Master

I'm trying to master a DVD9 project to DLT, and I've used eDVD for web links. I built the project to a folder, did the eDVD work. I can load the Video_TS folder and the eDVD files into a DVD burning program and make disks that play, navigate and look great. But if I tell Encore I want to make a DLT Master from a Volume, as soon as the DLT starts to burn I get an error message saying "the number of DVD sectors is invalid."
With tech support I've burned the project to DLT no problem and I've burned the project to disk no problem. I've built a dummy DL project, built it to a folder, added the eDVD ROM content and it burns to DLT. I've modified my existing project by removing a 20 minute video in case it was a size issue, built it to a folder, and it generates the same error message.
2 questions:
Since building the project to disk with the eDVD content as ROM content works, and since the DLT will accept that method, is there any reason not to create the master that way?
And second, any ideas what the problem might be?
All tech support could advise was to start taking assets out of the project until I find the problem. But that would mean building it to a folder each time and then attempting to build which would take days.
I'm exhausted, depressed and very late now--2 days late to the replicator. So any help would be appreciated.

Trouble with the method above is that you won't be using the modified Video_TS folder that eDVD will have made.
So this could be why Encore is pitcghing a hissy fit at you.
2 options.
1 - Create a disc, not a DLT pair and ask the replication plant if they will accept this (not recommended).
2 - Use a 3rd party application to create the DLT Tape.
I am surprised at hearing this news - I don't own eDVD yet so do not really know how it works, but if you are inking into ROM content from the Video_TS structure with menu pointers that will work when played on PC, then it has to be modifying the IFO files in some way.
What happens if you try creating an ISO image or a new folder using PGCEdit? http://download.videohelp.com/r0lZ/pgcedit/index.html
That would allow you to burn the modded disc.
Another option - but you will have to watch the layer break carefully - is always GEAR Pro Mastering Edition. I'd not be without it myself, but it is an additional expenditure...
I wish I had a way to look at this & check, as I cannot think of a single good reason why opening an existing folder plus it's ROM content with Encore should not work.
Encore doesn't need to be able to create anything except a DLT pair from the folder you tell it to use.

How do I make a photo (.jpg) out of a video clip from Final Cut Pro (ver. 5.1.4)?

KNow that the image will only have as much resolution as your video format. If that's conventional DV, about 500 by 800 pixels. You can make the pixels bigger and blockier in your photo editor but, without a good upscaling tool, you cannot make more pixels where there were none.

Fading sound in and out in a slide

Hi everyone,
I was trying to set a sound file to start with a fade when a certain slide starts, and to fade in when I click to exit the slide.
The start and stop audio builds don't seem to do the trick.
Is it possible to do this without going to garage band or other external software to edit the sound?

at a minimum, apply the stop() method to your soundChannel.
you should also ready you sound for gc though there's no guarantee
it will be gc'd.

Sound cuts out on DVD slide shows with music

I have tried 5 DVD slide show programs with the same result. Hewlett Packard says my hardware is OK but I have a compatability problem. My wife has the same compaint. Can you help with my computer?

Before doing anything with the computer in question, backup all the music files in question to either a flash drive or CD. Try that music, etc on an independent computer, either friend's or at a library to see if the files are good and do not exhibit the problems that are being observed on the computer in question. If they play OK elsewhere, then try the "Recovery Partition Manager" to return the computer to "like from the factory". With all the software experimenting, it could be a problem between the different software installs. Once the computer is "like from the factory" again, then try to play the music that was backed up on the "factory fresh" installation without any other software installs. Report back on how that goes.

Making one file out of fragments ... how do I do that?

For the purpose of continuity -- aka lining things up easily -- in a multi-track project, I would like to take fragments within a Garageband file and consolidate them into one piece. Get me?
In other words, instead of 6 little snippets spread out over a vocal track, I'd like to have 1 continuous track that goes from 0:00 to say 3:00. I just know it's an easy trick that has thus far eluded me.
I hope this makes sense and thanks in advance for any help.

be sure to have moved at least one region (just a TINY bit will do), or insert a bit of recorded silence, select all the regions and use the Join menuItem
