Making a new website for another user

Hi all,
How can I make a completely new website for someone else without publishing my own pages to a map? Do I just delete my pages from the published material or does my index page go beserk when I do that?
Thanks for your input!

By MMe I'm referring to a MobileMe account thru Apple. As I recall that's normal for iWeb 2 when you have multiple sites in one domain file. If you're running the latest iWeb 2, 2.0.4, you can split the sites into two domain files. That way you can open, edit and publish only the site you want.
I use iWebSites to manage over 75 individual sites. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process and move it to another location on your HD until you're satisfied the separation process is completed and what you want.
This lets me edit several sites and jthen only republish the one I want.

iTunes is updated and works fine and I am able to log onto my account. When I go to purchase a song, I get the error message "Your Apple ID has been disabled". I've tried different methods: changing passwords, making a new account with another email address, and emailing itunes tech support. I am curious as to how many others have been experiencing the same issue. When I googled the error, it seemed like it was happening extremely often with many people.
We all love their products, but they always come with a lot of issues and horrible customer support.
My apple Id is [email protected]

My Iphone 4 is telling me the same thing and I believe I figured out what the problem is. I had some fraudulent charges on my itunes account, so I call my bank and disputed the charges. Right after I did that, I started getting the message "Your apple ID has been disabled." I just realized today that the charges are not fraudulent, they are "in app purchases." One of my daughters downloaded the game Top Girl which is FREE, but in the game Top Girl you use money in the game to purchase things. It just so happens that the money you use to purchase things is real money MY Money!!!. My daughter thought she was using play money in the game and had no idea she was using real money. She spent $106.00 buying stuff. Now I have to call the bank and tell them to release the hold and pay Itunes. I'm hoping this solves the problem. Here is the link to learn how to disable "in app purchase" on your iphone or ipad.

• Issue creating a MatView for another user w/ a private DB Link

I am having an issue creating a materialized view for another user where the select statement for the MV uses a private db link. Looks like the following:
Logged in as user X, I run:
create materialzied view Y.foo
(select blah
from tbl@y_priv_db_link_here);
When I try to run this, I get a permission issue. User X has DBA privilege, user Y has create MV priv and has select priv on the table in the db link.
I can create this MV logged in as user Y. Cant create this logged in a user Y in test or prod environment, so this isn't an option.
Any ideas on how I can create this logged in a user X? I believe the issue here is that since this is a private db link owned by user Y, user X doesn't have access to this db link.
thanks.

Here is what I was trying to do:
SQL> CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW extract.ADDRESS
2 TABLESPACE xxx
3 BUILD IMMEDIATE
4 REFRESH
5 COMPLETE
6 ON DEMAND
7 WITH PRIMARY KEY
8 AS

FROM pwb_address@CM_TO_CPD)

• Install Lync Web App Plugin For Another User

I'm wondering if there is a way to install the plugin for the Lync Web App for another user. The reason why is that administrative permissions are required and our users are not allowed to have those permissions. I have the MSI but when I look at it, it
says
"Cannot install [ProductName].Setting the AllUsers property is not allowed because [ProductName] is a per-user application."
Is there a way that I can install the MSI, maybe through the command line or another method, and specify another user so it installs to their profile?
Thanks!

Hi,
This is typically achieved by allowing exceptions in your software control strategy for the required executable;
LWAPlugin.exe
LWAVersionPlugin.exe
AppSharingHookController.exe
AppSharingHookController64.exe
This typically occurs in VDI deployments where users are not able to install software onremote server, so the above rule is added to the Software Restriction Policy (providing that's what you're using to control application installation).
I'm not familiar with any associated cmd line switches I'm afraid.
Kind regards
Ben

• Reseting KM List Layout Profile for another user

Hello,
how can an administration reset layout profile personalization settings for another user.
Some users in our system have done the following:
KM Resource->Details->Settings->Presentation->Tab:Settings for You->Change Layout Profile
This creates some problems with our custom layout which is not used because of the user's personalization settings.

Hi,
Look at this:

Hi,
You can try LSMW (Direct method) for uploading class values.
Upload file can hae following structure:
OBJEK | ATINN | KLART | ATWRT
Release Grou+Release strategy | Characteristic name | Class type | Class Value
e.g. rel grp is PO, rel strategy is 01, characteristic name is EBAN_EKORG, and class value is 1000 then
OBJEK | ATINN | KLART | ATWRT
PO01 | EBAN_EKORG | 032 | 1000
multiple characterstics can be
OBJEK | ATINN | KLART | ATWRT
PO01 | EBAN_EKORG | 032 | 1000
PO01 | EBAN_EKGRP | 032 | 100

• New database for existing user?

Hi,
am I right saying that a new schema in Oracle involves a new user to create?
Say I've got my user already and I just want to create a new schema for this user.
How can I do it?

833519 wrote:
wherever I'm looking I can read this:
schema
A named collection of database objects, including logical structures such as tables and indexes. A schema has the name of the database user who owns it.
---I don't particularly like that definition.
A schema can be a logical database - just like a SQL-Server database. For example, the schema HR can be the Human Resources database with tables like employees, departments, payroll and so on.
A schema can be a user account. Let's say John is the head of a department. A schema can be created for John called JOHN. The HR schema (logical database) can grant select privs to the JOHN schema (user account) on tables and views inside the HR database schema.
It can even be setup in such a way that JOHN can only see his department's staff in the employees, and payroll tables, and a single row for his department in the departments table (this feature is called virtual private databases).
The JOHN schema, besides connection to Oracle rights and selection rights on the HR tables, may have no other rights. So no tables, views and other db objects can be created in the JOHN schema.
The HR schema otoh has the rights to create the db objects. And it may for example not have any create session rights, preventing anyone from directly logging into this schema.
There may be a .Net application for HR. It uses an application schema in Oracle called HR_APP. It may have certain db objects (such as application log tables, application audit tables, etc). It also will have access to the HR schema's db objects.
So an Oracle schema can be used in many different ways - providing flexibility way beyond what other database products provide in this regard.
As for how to use a schema (as a user schema, logical database, app schema, library schema, etc) depends entirely on your requirements - and correctly translating these into secure and flexible Oracle schemas that address these requirements.
In my understanding this means that if I wanna create two databases (collection of tables), which are called 'schemas' in Oracle I also have to create 2 database users.Yes. But these will be logical database schemas. Not end user schemas. For example, you can create a HR schema for a Human Resources database. You can create a MARKETING schema for the Marketing database. (yes, you will use the CREATE USER command to create these 2 logical database schemas - and you would use the same command to create a user schema, developer schema, or any other type of schema)
The HR schema can be specifically setup for the HR database requirements. A space quota of 10Gb. The ability to create tables and stored procedures and views.
Likewise, the MARKETING schema can be setup specifically for marketing. They may need a 50Gb space quota. This database may use object relational features and also need the rights to the SQL advance data types. Etc.
If you want to use the HR database, you can logon as the HR schema. If you want to use the marketing database, you can logon as the MARKETING schema.
Or you can create a user schema - and for this schema user to select tables from the HR database, the HR schema needs to grant specific rights (like select, update, delete and insert) to the user schema on those tables.
Do not let this confuse you. A schema can be many different things, depending on WHAT it can do and HOW it is used. And both these you determine when creating the schema and its rights and its contents (if any).
As already suggested - read the Concepts Guide. See http://tahiti.oracle.com (Oracle documentation portal).

• Created help file either won't open or opens blank when emailed or copied for another user to see it.

Created help file either won't open or opens blank when emailed or copied for another user to see it.
Our HR person made a help file she wants to email to someone or copy to a network share.
-If she emails it the other person cannot open it.
-If she copies it even from her desktop where she saved it to the folder with all the other files, it opens blank.
Any help would be appreciated.

I think they must be swapping out .html for .chm in DW or something. What the OP describes sure sounds like what happens when you do that.
@dfiore27101
DW doesn't support .chm file types. Adding the extension doesn't compress the images into the file to create a true .chm.
Adding .chm will make a perfectly good .html file stop displaying in DW though.
An easier way to send someone .html help files would be to archive their folder as a .zip then email the .zip. The recipient would then need to extract the archive to view the files in their browser.
I don't know of any way to create real .chm files in DW.

• ITunes always loads as 'new' app for other user...

I have my girlfriend set up on my MacBook as another user. Whenever I open iTunes on her account it always comes up with the user agreement window.
The library will load correctly so not a major issue but still annoying.
Any solutions?
Thanks.

Ah, I'm probably going to get yelled at by Apple Duncan 'bout this.
You have to first create a bookmark to a place wherein you can actually upload files. For example, you need to control/right-click on a course tab, copy the iTunes U URL, create a new bookmark in the iTunes U app, and paste the URL ito the list bookmark list. Then whe you uplaod files, you will see them.
The iTunes U app creates a default bookmark for you ... but it represents your entire site, not a specific course. However, you can only upload things to specific places in iTunes U ... courses and course tabs.
Sorry 'bout this ... it's my fault for not explaining this very well.

• IPhoto 7.1.2 crashing - but OK for another user!

Hi, I have just updated to 10.5.2 and iPhoto 7.1.2 (amongst other things). When I start iPhoto, it briefly displays my library then crashes:
Process: iPhoto [483]

(Of course there's more, dunno if it's useful here though). This behaviour is repeatable and consistent.
Having looked around the forum I have tried Disk Repair, and deleting the iPhoto plist from my home dir, still no joy. I attempted to create a new library at startup, this seemed to work (and indeed a new library has been created), but iPhoto crashed after creating it. And it crashes whichever of the two libraries I try to use.
The really odd thing is that another user account on this computer has no problems at all, iPhoto works fine.
Any ideas? I have seen that re-installing iPhoto is quite a common suggestion to this kind of prob, however 5'm currently in New Zealand and my iLife DVDs are about 12,000 miles away at home...
Thanks for your help!

Hi TD, appreciate your help. The file iPhoto.crash.log is old, dated Oct last year. There are files with the name iPhoto<timestamp>Macintosh.crash, is that the new format for this file? I think so. The contents of the latest one of these files (iPhoto2008-02-14-145909Macintosh.crash) is this:

Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
The same keystroke on launch will allow you to choose which Library to open.

• Creating a materialized view for another user

I don't seem to find the correct setup for this....
With the user "dummy"
CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW dummy.thetable BUILD IMMEDIATE REFRESH FORCE ON DEMAND AS select * from real.thetable;
And the materialized view is created ok.
With a DBA user:
CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW dummy.thetable BUILD IMMEDIATE REFRESH FORCE ON DEMAND AS select * from real.thetable;
ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
I don't want to be switching back and forth from the user to create materialized views, am I missing a permission here? DBA of course has create any materialized view

From the SQL Reference Guide:
To create a materialized view in another user’s schema:
- You must have the CREATE ANY MATERIALIZED VIEW system privilege.
- The owner of the materialized view must have the CREATE TABLE system privilege. The owner must also have access to any master tables of the materialized view that the schema owner does not own (for example, if the master tables are on a remote database), and to any materialized view logs defined on those master tables, either through a SELECT object privilege on each of the tables or through the SELECT ANY TABLE system privilege.
I suspect that, if you first GRANT CREATE TABLE TO DUMMY, you will be able to create the MV.
