Making a PDF doc accessible on my iPhone

How do I transfer a PDF file from my iMac to my iPhone 3Gs?
I've uploaded this PDF doc to my website but dont see how to download it and store it locally on my iPhone anywhere in the Safari running on my iPhone.
Also, I've downloaded the app iPDF but again, don't seem to be able to figure out how to get the PDF doc over to my iPhone as iPDF's search engine only seems to be title specific as opposed to entering in a web address.
Needless to say, when I drag the doc from my iMac to my iPhone via iTunes, iTunes stops loading the doc into the iPhone as it says it isn't a recognised format for iTunes (not surprisingly).
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Hi, I use MobileMe and would e-mail the PDF to myself which can be opened on my iPhone. If I wanted to store on my iPhone, I would save this e-mail in a folder within my MobileMe account.
If you use MobileMe you could also upload the file to your iDisk folder, then download the iDisk app onto your iPhone. You would then be able to access the file on your iPhone via the iDisk app.
Hope this helps.

  • Can I get a PDF doc off my MBP onto my iPhone without emailing?

I apologize in advance if this has been asked and answered. I'm currently stuck with the Edge Network as my sole Internet connection. Searching for my answer is just beyond my patience at the moment. I'm thrilled to have connectivity at all, however!!
    The problem:
I have a PDF doc on my laptop that I need to email to a client in the morning. Is there a way to get this doc onto my iPhone so I can send it as an attachment in Mail from my iPhone?
I'd really like to avoid a 40 mile drive to a wifi hotspot if at all possible.
    Thanks!!

Air Sharing Pro will enable you to transfer the PDF file from your Mac to the phone (if you have a WiFi connection between the phone and the Mac) and then to email it from your phone.

  • Can I see my PDF docs on my iPad and iPhone

I would like to know how to see PDF docs on multiple devices like iPad and iPhone. Also how can I see my photos on both devices?

If you upload your photos and PDF files in Dropbox, you'll be able to see them on your computer, iPad, iPhone and iPod.

When I convert my pdf doc to word, the fonts go really weird and it also puts some text into boxes. when I try to select the text and change the font, it does not change it properly? This is making it impossible to amend.

    Hi Janedance1,
If the PDF that you converted already has searchable text, please try disabling OCR as described in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (OCR) when converting PDF to Word or Excel. (If the PDF was created from a scanned document and doesn't already have searchable text, disabling OCR isn't a great option, as the text won't be searchable/editable in the converted Word doc.)
Please let us know how it goes.

  • Making a PDF - something's missing

I have Acrobat 8.0 Standard. I got a different computer this
week and for the time being I am on Word 2003. Previously, I was on
Word 2007. Well, now when I PDF a Word doc, I no longer get the
form that has the radio buttons that give you the option to save a
Word doc as fully functional PDF or as a quick and simple PDF. It
goes right into making the PDF ... which is taking very long and
going through tagging (which I don't need).
Does anyone know how I can access those fully
fiunctional/quick and simple options again? Might this have
anything to do with Word 2003/Word 2007? Thanks very much. I really
    appreciate the help.

Try saving the file to your local computer (to the desktop, for example), and then open Adobe Reader itself and open the file in it directly (via File - Open). See if that works for you...

  • Preventing saving of pdf docs in X Pro

    Hi
Is there a way to prevent people saving a pdf doc onto their hard drive in Acrobat X Pro? Perhaps by removing the 'save' feature or toobar etc, or any other way? The aim is so that people won't email a confidential document to others. (I know about the password encryption etc, but the probelm there is they can send the password to others - which basically defeats the purpose).
Any answers will be very much appreciated.
    thank you.

    thank you.
is there not a way of making it 'read only'?  Wont that help?
What are these DRM solutions and which would you recommend?

  • I need help making Adobe Edge animation appear correctly on iphones, ipads and android phones.

I need help making Adobe Edge animation appear correctly on iphones, ipads and android phones. It currently looks fine on desktops and androids. I am using wordpress with a responsive theme (Canvas). I will need you to document The url is http://adamhtc.org.s183459.gridserver.com.

Thanks George, interesting thought.  I looked on Adobe's site and they "advertise" fillable forms for the iPhone and Android markets, but on the Windows Phone tab, that is mysteriously missing.  lol    Maybe it will come later?   Meanwhile, I'll google to see if there are any PDF viewers that can handle it now.   Thanks for the reply.  :-)

  • Organize PDF docs on iPad?

I have sent several PDF docs to my iPad, but I am unable to create folders to organize them into specific categories. Is it possible to do so?

    no problem!
if you have an excel document on your mac or pc that you want to view only, email it to yourself from your desktop, open the email onyour iPad, and touch the attachment - it will open as a view only file so all the cell formulae etc are hidden, you just see the visible elements.
if you want something you can use to edit, i use an app called Office2 (that's a superscript "2" or 'Office squared'. I'm using the iPhone version on my iPhone and iPad, It's currently £3.49 on the iTunes app store. But I see there is now an iPad version (HD) available for a fiver.
Basically, you do exactly the same as above but when you touch the attachment in the email, if Office2 is installed there is an option at the top asking which app you want to open it in. Choose Office 2 then you can open, change, save, mail it back to yourself.
i don't use very large excel files, but it works for me!!
    enjoy

  • Acrobat 8.1.2:scanning to pdf produce problem of appearance of black strip on right side of pdf doc

I am using licensed Acrobat 8.1.2 Professional at notebook with XP Pro. I have trouble creating a PDF from scaner by using Acrobat 8.1.2, because of appearance of black strip on the right side on each page of pdf doc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Oleg

I hope this isn't a dumb question, but is it coming from the scanner? We have to watch two things when scanning on our Canon 5020s.
#1 Make sure the sidebars are as tight as possible, including making sure the stack of paper is very clean and straight and tight.
#2 There is a setting in our scanner called Margin. It corrects for things like manufacture defect. If we leave that setting alone, we get a small black edge. We have it set to -2 to decrease the scanning area. This fixes that problem.

  • Dan from iCloud Tech Support says that documents such as .pdf, .doc, .xls, etc. will NOT be stored on iCloud!  Huh???

Called Tech Support because of 2 problems:
         1. Several of my documents have disappeared.  This includes some .pdf, .doc, and .xls files.
         2. Others are old copies of files that were updated, but all my changes were lost.
Was informed by Dan in Tech Support that "documents will not be stored on iCloud."  He explained further that Word, Excel, PDF, etc. will not be stored on the Cloud--only music files, Pages, iPhoto, etc. will be.
Is this true?  If so, this is stunningly bad.  And if it is true that iCloud isn't going to store documents, then why did it touch (i.e. lose, revert) them in the first place??  So all document storage will be on local or external drives now?

    Dan is not entirely correct.
If you install Goodreader this app WILL allow those documents to be stored on your icloud account within a specially created Goodreader container.
Apple do allow third parties to use the conduit between desktop and iOS apps, however only a few third parties have implemented this todate..
What icloud is NOT is unlimited remote storage, its more rather a syncing conduit.
If you are looking at an idisk replacement do try Dropbox for that.
Personally I employ BOTH methods in parallel at the moment as icloud remains very much a work in progress .
I will probably transfer more to using the icloud route when the next desktop version of Pages is released and hopefully incorporates built in icloud sync functionality. The current requirement to utilize a web browser on your desktop to upload/download is a clutch !
    What does icloud do
1 Sync photo images across iOS devices and with iPhoto or Aperture 3 on your Mac or with your Pictures folder in Win7
2 Combines calendars between iOS and Mac Osx or  Outlook on Win7
3 Combines Address book between ios and Mac OSx or Outlook on Win7
    4. Sync iWork- Documents in the cloud (Pages Numbers and Keynote) across iOS devices and upload/download to Mac or PC via icloud.com in web browser.
5.Use find my iPhone/iPad/mac security functionality
    6.Remote backup of iOS devices.
    7. ITunes in the cloud (Stores all your music in icloud) plus subject to subscription iTunes match.
    8.ios app sync across devices.
    Plus new in 2012
Invite friends to view photos and or movies via email link.
    What it do not do
Allow you to drag and drop any file type from Finder/Explorer to remote storage (a la idisk or Drop box)- This may change as the service develops.

  • Query on auto-refreshing frames / linked .pdf docs on link

    All,
I'm in the process of building a website on an intranet which, heavily uses content from a .pdf document.  I'm using a frame-structured website (two Vertial frames), with the left-hand side frame used as a nav bar and the pdf content displayed on the right.  I've been able to link the links on the left to bring up and display the .pdf doc on the right-hand frame, however after the first link has been clicked the clicking of further frames does not either seem to refresh the doc or change the position to the relevant .pdf bookmark.
My questions are therefore as follows.  Does anyone know how to:-
    A) Add a html command onto each link which will force the pdf document to reload?
    B) Force a refresh of the right-hand side content frame every time a link has been clicked on the left?
    C) Alter the .PDF document so that it will allow the moment to the correct bookmark/destination when called by a link selection in the left-hand nav frame?
    D) Save the .PDF into an alternate working format which may bypass any potential problems with moving to a requested bookmark in an already-open doc?
    E) Force the opening of the .PDF in the browser, rather than in an opened adobe .PDF viewer?
Sorry guys I'm not the most technical person in the world, but would certainly appreciate any help anyone can offer!
    Al

You should keep it simple and best practice. Keep lag enabled even if you are only going to use one port on the wlc. When you disable lag, then that is when the configuration becomes tricky and that's why it's not supported.

  • Reducing artwork size of pdf doc

i have a pdf document which has been designed to a particular size eg.A4 however the pdf needs to be a smaller size eg. A5. Is it possible to reduce the size OR does the artwork need to be re-designed to the correct A5 size?

Did you turnto high quality display. The resolution has to be higher.
If you use PDF, take care that the PDFs are PDF/X-4.

  • How to display.xls, pdf, .doc files in UIImageView within a UIScrollView.

    Hi,
I am new to iPhone programming. I need some help.
I want to display .xls, pdf, .doc files in UIImageView within a UIScrollView programtically how can i do this. What is the procedure.
Pls. provide me a sample application.
If anyone knows pls. respond it would be of great help for me.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Regards,
    Sreelatha.

Hi Sreelatha. The best example code for your purpose is the Scrolling sample app I referred to previously. The word Scrolling in that post is a link to the download page. I think that code will answer all your questions about how to init a UIImage, then use it to init a UIImageView, and then position the UIImageView frame in a UIScrollView. Two cases are demostrated: 1) Scrolling horizontally through a series of images; 2) Scrolling both H & V over a single image which is several times larger than the window.
You might also be interested in the PageControl sample app in case you want to add a page control to your scroll view.
Reading your last post again... I sure hope we've been discussing images (like jpegs?) in this thread. This isn't about reading and rendering the actual xls, pdf and doc files, is it?? Of course the iPhone handles html beautifully, so for example, an html representation of a doc file would play nicely. But in that case you'd want a UIWebView, not a UIImageView.

  • Cannot print a pdf doc. No problem with others

Hello, I have a Canon MX860 wireless printer. I can print anything EXCEPT pdf docs. I had this same problem with other printers connected to my MacBook Pro. Any suggestions?

I think we need to know what Sibleyfam is using as a PDF reader. I have had difficulties printing PDFs using Adobe Reader to various HP LaserJets but if I open the files using Preview they print without any problem at all. Right-click or Control-click on the PDF icon and select the Open With option... then slide across to the available applications and select Preview... if, of course, the document was opening in Adobe Reader previously. If it won't print from Preview it could be a postscript error generated by a bad font in the PDF. Opening the file in Photoshop or similar so you are, effectively, rasterizing the font data may solve the problem if a dodgy font is the issue. Converting the file to Postscript should also produce the same fix though I just 'printed' a PDF as a .ps file and the text was still selectable making me think that the font problem (if it is this) will not disappear after the conversion.
I hope this helps eliminate something even if it doesn't solve your problem.

  • Can not open PDF docs in Mavericks

Can't open mail PDF docs when transfered to DT. Removed Adobe plugins and restarted Safari...no change. I can open then in 10.6 Is this a Reader or an Apple issue?

Thank you Linc Davis and Joe Bailey. The three files in question that I was not able to open on the DT were empty (0 byte). I re-downloaded them, save them on the DT and they opened. I really don't know what took place here, maybe some preferences were previously changed in the reader, but I don't really remember and I am not too concerned at this point. The main thing they work now... so thanks for the help.
