Making a Photo Book with i Photo 5

I am in the process of creating a photo book in I Photo 5 using Classic Design theme. Is there any way to change the theme for a particular page. There are always 2 caption boxes under a picture in Classic theme and sometimes a name is automatically added in in the first box under each picture I add. I only want one text box under each picture and am not sure if both boxes will be printed out, even if there is no text in the box. When I choose 'Page type' and pick a number for pictures, then when I click 'Page Design,' it only shows me a box diagram of the number of pictures previously picked. I am not able to change the Page design. I am frustrated, would like different themes for different pages when I don't want text. Am tempted to switch to Shutterfly, but want to give this a chance. Have spent hours to this point getting the pictures ready.

there is no way to change a page on a specific theme. those pages on a theme are pre set and you cannot change them on the process of creating the book. sorry about that, hope this helps.

Creating a photo book with captions

I am using Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3 running on Windows. I have created a collection of photos that I want to have printed as an album. I want to maintain the captions and order that I have already set. My preference would be to do this on my desktop rather than uploading them to a service like Snapfish or Kodak Gallery (the upload process is nightmarish and it doesn't appear to maintain the captions). Any suggestions?
Ideally I would like to find a templated tool that would allow me to import my collection with its captions. Then I would send it to Snapfish or Kodak Gallery or Lulu for printing. Maybe I've missed something, but all of those folks seem to want me to upload my photos and then template the book on their site, adding captions manually. This is nuts, particularly if I've already done the work to add captions in Photoshop Album.
As a related question, is there some standard for tagging and captions for photos or does Photoshop Album use some proprietary method?

I can see the caption when I upload the photo to Kodak Gallery, but it doesn't show up when I place it in the photo book. I have a question in to their support team but I still wonder if anyone has had any luck making photo books with the captions created in Photoshop Album Starter.
And the bigger question is: what if I don't want to upload my photos? What if I'd rather make the book on my desktop? Is there any way to do that?

Contact photos are not showing up in Mail message list, even though the message will link to the contact card in Address Book with the photo in it.

Books are no longer supported with iPhoto '08 (a roughly six yeal old product) - you can purchase an iLife '09 DVD from someplace like Amazon or eBay and install it - iPhoto '09 is still supported this year

Book with I Photo 9.6 problem with yosemite

I did some books with I Photo 9.6 in the past and it was working perfectly. Then I installed Yosemite and now when I tried to do a new book and try to use the disposition button and the function Personnelize ( choice of 2, 3 , 4 and more photos in a page with title or not ) I have a small line in the middle of the picture and the place I normally wrote my text is pink. I already reboot my I Mac ( 27 inches, Processor 3.5 Ghz Intel core i7, 8 gig Ram DDR3.......new machine ) and it is the same problem. I can't find anything actually on the web to help me. I hope you will do. Thank you

details please - what version of iPhoto did you upgrade from - what is the exact error message?
As a wild guess if you upgraded form iPhoto '08 version 7.x.x or earlier you need to download and RUN the iPhoto library upgrader - it will be installed in tehutilities folder of you application folder - double-click on it to run it and then launch IPhoto to coplete the upgrade

What exactly is your question?
If you have low resolution photos then they will have to be printed smaller and the quality not be as good as if you had better photos - there is no way to make a poor photo better
And in general iPhone photos are not low resolution - what are the pixel dimensions of the photos? What size photos are you trying to print?

Printing Photo Book with 101+ Pages

Sorry if this has been previously posted, but I could not find anything on this topic. Does anyone know of an online service that will print a photo book with more than 100 pages? I have a photo book I have created in PS6 to commemorate my parents trip to Europe for their 50th anniversary. All that time and effort and then I find out Kodak will only print up to 80 pages! I would really appreciate any suggestions on this!

Thanks Trish. My book is actually 140 pages & viovio only goes to 120. At this point, guess I will look at deleting 20 pages (tough!) and using them. They seem to be the best option so far!

What upload speed do I need to upload the XL photo books with over 25 pages?

I have just recently gotten a new Internet provider and the max upload speed I can get is 1mbps but I am only getting .4 mbps at the most. When trying to upload an XL photo book with over 26 pages it keeps failing to transfer/upload and the error message says to check the internet connection. I'm wondering what upload speed I need to upload? I need to cancel this internet provider before my free month runs out if 1mbps is not going to be fast enough.

Well I have my first order coming in tomorrow (according to Fedex) and I have my fingers crossed.
So far I haven't been able to find any local printers that will print and bind the books at a reasonable cost - best I've found so far is $200 (or more) per book.
Hardly cost effective for my relatively meager budget.
I've explored Asuka a littoe more, and their quality does appear to be superior at first glance, but it seems I am not able to take advantage of submitting my aperture-generated book directly. According to their templates I have to put everything together manually in Photohop. Great for end-control, but one thing that made me pursue this was the ability to generate a book inside Aperture using versions direct from collection (any changes I made to an original image were automatically incorporated in my book. Had I done it all manually, teh time/effort I'd be putting into the book with be well over 5x greater!
I've also looked at shutterfly.com so far - and they seem promising, and am wiating for my colleagues order to go through before I get too excited.
Either way, I hope to have my first printing this week - I'll keep ya posted!

Can you please tell me your online services location. To find that out, you need to go to the Organizer. Go toEdit>Preferences>Adobe Partner Services. Click the "Choose" button for location and there you will find your online services location. It should be US & Canada for Kodak Photobook services to work.
Also can you please let me know whether you are trying to do this in organizer or Editor?

the photos have the same quality, because I used aperture to retouch it, but for me is easy make a photo book with iphoto, I only imported the photos form aperture to iphoto, and I made the photo book, I want to buy it, but before I want to know which one have more quality or if the method of impression, aperture and iphoto, are the same.
so have both the same quality of impression?
And if the answer is no, Can I export my photo book form iphoto to aperture? how?

Quality is a personal opinion - I assume (but no one here really knows for sure) that the same vendor does both -

Print photo book with billing and shipping addresses in different countries

I live in the U.S. and would like to create photo books for family living in Europe. Rather than sending the book myself to Europe after having it first printed in the U.S. and shipped to me in the U.S., I would like to simply submit the book to the Apple print service in the country it is destined to anyway.
Unfortunately, the Apple print service bases the country in which the order is fulfilled solely on the billing address of the credit card used, i.e. U.S. in my case. In addition, one can not choose a shipping country other than the country of the billing address.
Has anyone else found a way around this limitation?

I can't offer a way around, but at least for me in Europe it doesn't seem to be a problem: I have had Aperture books sent to England whilst the bill comes to me in Switzerland. I think I read once that quite a lot of Apple's European printing is done in Holland, maybe that makes a difference.
More generally I do find Apple's way of dealing with international customers a bit irritating - I can only order software through the Swiss Apple-store in French or German...

It only mentions, that you can change the font size:
Edit text on a page
Tap Projects, and tap the photo book to open it.
Double-tap the page containing the text you want to work with.
Do the following:
Align the text: Tap the text box, and choose an alignment style from the menu that appears directly above the text box.
Choose the font size: Tap the text box, and tap the font size you want.
Make changes to the text: Double-tap the text box, and type.
No mention of the supported font. Probably the fonts will depend on the country of the Print Products Store you are using:
To change countries, tap at the top-left corner of the screen, and select another country from the list.

Iphoto photo books with extra pages

I am currently making a photo book. As I scroll through my book, there are no blank pages, but in the photo layout across the top of my screen it shows 2 blank pages. What will my final book look like? Will the extra pages across the top be visible in my photo book even though they aren't visible in the computer version?

I've not seen that in iPhoto '08 - iPhoto '09 does have a thumbnail bug like that that has not been fixed yet
Try clicking on the blank thumbnail and seeing what it shows in the main window
And remember the sure way to know what is going to print is to preview it according to this article - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference
