Making a photobook only with faces

Hello,
I want to make a photobook with pictures of a persons. That is working. But I only want to show the face en not the entire photo! In the overview of a person therr is a switch to show only the face or the complete picture. I want that in my book. (only the face. Yes it is possible to crop all teh images but that is a lot of work for 200+ foto's
greetings
Michel

You could do it but the resulting image quality would be very poor.  By the time you cropped the faces or heads and used the cropped version the number of pixels available for printing would be way too few to produce a book whose photos were not pixelated.
Crop a couple of photos and add them to a book. Preview the book, Previewing an Order in iPhoto, and see how those photos appear.  You could minimize the effect by choosing a theme with a layout that have a large number of photos per page so each frame would be small as possible. Some themes like Picture Book have a layout with 16 photos per page.

  • "@font-face" problem only with firefox. I have attached a style sheet while i was embedding my personal fonts into a website, but Firefox won't load them. Why?

    I was hand coding my new website. This time i was trying to embed some personal fonts into my website, so i used a style sheet to embed which is coded like
    "@font-face {
    font-family:Sofia;
    src:url(../fonts/Sofia-Regular.otf);
    All the font work fine in the root folder of my site. But whenever i am creating dreamweaver templates and using them on pages which are in different folders but in the same root directory, the fonts are set back to default font. This problem is only with Firefox. Chrome, IE, Opera etc. works fine. Please Help!

    i run into the same problem the last days.
    using bootstrap and the fontawesome iconfonts.
    everythings fine with chrome an ie, but no fonticons with firefox...
    found alot of solutions, but none of them worked.
    then, using the webdeveloper console (i used firebug all the time before) i see the error why the webfont was not loaded:
    [14:18:36.161] GET http://www.example.com/font/fontawesome-webfont.ttf?v=3.2.0 [HTTP/1.1 401 Authorization Required 21ms]
    yes, the site is behind a '''htaccess''' login.
    first load after login is => everything ok!
    after following an internal link => no webfonts!
    after disabeling the htaccess login, everything works fine!
    but that can only be a workaround!
    why firefox didnt recognize the login/authorization like chrome does?!
    what todo if you have your site behind htaccess and want to use webfonts?!

  • IPhoto 8.1.2 can you create a smart album with only one face

    I'm using iPhoto 8.1.2 and have about 23k photos in the library. I have identified 32 key faces, and would now like to create some smart albums that contain only the face or faces that I want and to exclude all the others.  S for example  a smart album that has only my son.
    I tried using the doesn't contain this face, but you can only have around 10 filters/critiria in a smart album.
    any suggestions are appriciated

    You can't really, because you can't exclude enough of the faces.
    I would keyword the preferred images as well, so finding the face and the keyword would find the pics of the person alone.

  • Can I print a photobook made with Adobe photoshop 7 with Shutterfly?

    I earned a free 8 by 8 photobook with shutterfly. I tried making one on their website but I could not find any that I liked. I would like to professionally print my photobook I already made with adobe photoshop 7. I need step by step intructions how to put my photobook made with adobe onto shutterfly. I would also like to know some websites that will print pre-made adobe photoshop books for cheap in case shutterfly does not work. Thank you. It is a Valentines gift for my boyfriend, so please get back to me asap

      I believe Shutterfly provide only standard prints e.g. 6 x 4 inches or enlargements from the PSE interface.
    You could save your book as a PDF file and then upload to an alternative on-line print service that can print the pages such as Blurb.

  • Problem w.r.t. JSF 2.0 with faces-config.xml

    Hi All,
    I am trying to evaluate the features of JSF2.0.
    For that, I have created a very simple application with "JSF 2.0.2".
    There is a page that displays a composite component and some other form related components (inputtext, commandbutton).
    When I deploy my application without any faces-config.xml file, everything renders perfectly fine.
    When I deploy the app with faces-config.xml (even an empty one without any configuration), none of the components get rendered.
    Only the html elements get displayed.
    I need to define some navigation-rules in my config file. I am not sure how to go further from here.
    The app server I am using for deploying my app is GlassFish(v3).
    Any help or pointers towards solving my problem are highly appreciated.
    You can find the xhtml file, etc of my project below.
    Thank you,
    With best regards,

  • Hello, is there a way for making a photo transparent with iPhoto are another software?

    Hello, is there a way for making a photo transparent with iPhoto are another software?

    Not with iPhoto, but different apps have different capabilities.
    There are a couple of considerations: How is this transparent image to be used? In a Deskop Publishing environment something like Pages' Instant Alpha might be useful. Or if you're trying to overlay one image on another on a photograph then some editor that supports layers would be required.
    Further, Jpegs as a format doesn't support transparency so you'll need to work ina  file format that does.
    But if you can explain what you're hoping to do we might be able to point you in a more useful direction.
    In order of price here are some suggestions for editors:
    Seashore (free)
    The Gimp (free)
    Graphic Coverter ($45 approx)
    Acorn ($50 approx)
    Pixelmator ($50 approx)
    Photoshop Elements ($75 approx)
    There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store.
    You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

  • Moving images from library to library WITH Faces information

    Ok.
    iPhoto 09/faces
    Can someone out there tell me, first off, is it even possible to move photos from one library to another library WITH all the Faces effort I've put in on those photos (say from my default library on my hard drive to another person's library on an external hard drive)?
    That way they don't have to be rescanned and then I have to go through and correct the crappy scanning effort that the program did all over again.
    I tried exporting/importing, straight copy, etc. with no dice.
    I don't want to keep having to re-correct all the faces in images I transfer between libraries.
    "Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi....You're my only hope!"

    For folks out there here is the results of Terrence's suggestion (which was a good one BTW, I don't want to dump on him - it was good thinking on his part! Thanks Terrence).
    iPhoto Lib Manager still ***** (on my system anyway - iMac OSX 10.5.6).
    I installed the thing and tried moving 1000 photos with faces info organized nicely - no dice - it crapped out.
    First make sure all the permissions are set properly and the library mounts automatically (under the options). Then it will at least ATTEMPT to copy everything (also edit prefs to reflect all the metadata that goes with the photos like faces info, dates, desc. etc).
    But while thing appear to go well, it craps out at the end leaving you stymied. It re-scans the imported images and the faces data does not come through in the end despite it's trying to do so.
    I tried it with 80 photos, just to make sure I wasn't trying to fit 20lbs of manure into a 10lb bag. Same story with the smaller transfer
    If I go any smaller, I may as well have used the public version (free) which limits you to 20 at a time.
    So bottom line - according to my experience - if you and someone else have the same photos in your separate libraries and want to share the effort one of you puts into organizing faces info - you're hooped/screwed/pooched!
    Nada - diddly - bupkiss!
    VERY DISAPPOINTING! Both the iPhoto 09 AND the failed (but valiant) attempt by iPhoto Lib Man.
    Should've stuck with iLife 08 and lived with it...sigh.

  • Making a clipping group with a compound path

    So, as of today I'm new to scripting for Illustrator, I'm using the ExtendScript Toolkit. However I'm not new to scripting my own solutions and I do have some experience with JavaScript already.
    What I'm trying to do is this: For all selected Items->Duplicate selected item and make a simple clipping group with it
    What I end up with visually doesn't change the picture, but gives me a lot of clipped colored areas which I then can edit in the isolated mode, allowing me far faster and better shading. Doing that by hand takes hours on some pictures, it'd take a second with a script.
    The script itself already perfectly works for normal PathItems. As obvious in the title, as soon as I have to apply the same to CompundPathItems things stop working. My issue is somewhat similar to this old thread [Problem with compound path clipping], but I couldn't find a solution there because I get different behavior.
    When I run the very same script that perfectly works with the normal PathItems with CompoundPathItems I get this: Error 9046: The top item in the group must be a path item to create a mask
    Well that's a problem. In the GUI there is absolutely no difference between making a clipping mask with a simple path and a compound path. The reference guide has frankly not helped me with this issue at all, the only thing I learned from that is that the CompoundPathItem object doesn't have a clipping attribute, but those included PathItems do.
    Here's what I have so far:
    if ( selected[i].typename == "PathItem" ) {
    var newGroup = doc.groupItems.add();
    copy = selected[i].duplicate(newGroup,ElementPlacement.PLACEATEND);
    selected[i].moveToBeginning(newGroup);
    newGroup.clipped = true;
    As I said, this part perfectly does what it's supposed to do for normal Paths.
    For CompoundPaths I use this workaround.
    if ( selected[i].typename == "CompoundPathItem" ) {
    var newGroup = doc.groupItems.add();
    copy = selected[i].duplicate(newGroup,ElementPlacement.PLACEATEND);
    selected[i].moveToBeginning(newGroup);
    compoundItems = selected[i].pathItems;
    compoundIndex = compoundItems.length;
    for ( f = 0; f < compoundIndex; f++ ) {compoundItems[f].clipping=true;}
    var lineList = new Array(10);
    for ( l = 0; l < lineList.length; l++ ) {lineList[l] = new Array( i * 10 + 50, ((i - 5) ^ 2) * 5 +50);}
    newPath = app.activeDocument.pathItems.add();
    newPath.setEntirePath(lineList);
    newPath.moveToBeginning(newGroup);
    newGroup.clipped = true;
    newPath.remove();
    Mind you, this workaround does work in so far that it bypasses that annoying and wrong error, and the Compound Clipping Path also works, with the only problem being that the Compound Clipping Path created like this is still displayed in its original colors in the Layers section, and is still selectable. When I lock the Compound Clipping Path I can work with it but still...
    So the question is, what am I missing here? Surely there must be a proper way to do this.

    app.executeMenuCommand()? That one eluded me so far, might be just the right thing. I'll definitely take a look, now just to find a ref on that, as unfortunately the official ref documents I have don't mention that command. Any place with a list of possible commands?
    Ah, also of course I'm not only doing it for the isolation mode. If you care to hear the background, here is it:
    As I said it's for shading the pictures I'm working on. I've iterated and tried through a bunch of techniques. For example gradient meshes on my first few real works. Now those meshes don't do well with complex shapes, which previously I alleviated by using a simple square or rectangle gradient mesh and using the original colored shape as a clipping mask. That did work, but it was a huge lot of work.
    After a bunch of attempts at that I went over to using simple gradients as a background for the shape and then I'm doing the shading freehand with the blob brush tool, using a graphic style and filters to make it look right. That's better, but properly making all the clipping masks takes me much longer than anything else.
    Now the problem is that the shading is not supposed to go over the lines, which is impossible to do properly without either messing up the order, or using clipping masks, hence the script. Because you know, if you use a blob brush with a strong Gaussian blur close to the lines you'll end up with stuff on both sides. If you don't start close to the line the shading won't look right if the darkest part of the shade needs to be close to the line. And that's where clipping masks do magic.
    And finally here's an example how I work with the script and the result:
    After I have traced a sketch, adjusted the line widths and everything to look neat I turn the paths to outline strokes and then make them into a live paint group (which would mess up the line widths, unless you turn the paths into outline strokes first).
    With that live paint group it takes me just a few minutes to flat color my piece. Then I expand the live paint group, in case of doubt spend some more minutes to make compound paths from all areas I need to shade in one piece, then I select all the areas and use my script to turn them into neat clipping masks. Then I can click any area, enter the isolation mode and go up one level so I'm in the appropriate group, where I can shade freely without the problem of going over the lines.
    At the end that allows me to apply a complex and in-depth shading, without wasting any time to get there.
    PS: Well, I just found out that Draw Inside is pretty darn close to what I want to do, and oddly enough it produces the same visual discrepancy with compound paths that my script produces. I'll be taking a closer look at that, though my script does a little more than just the clipping mask stuff, so maybe I'll go for a hybrid solution. Whatever makes for a better workflow.

  • Exporting/importing photos with Faces tags

    I have an iMac where I keep all photos, movies, etc. and an Air. I loaded all my photos to my Air for a long flight when I tagged them all with Faces and Locations. Now I cannot move them back onto my iMac (where I want to store them for space reasons) with any of that info. Please tell me I have not wasted 8 hours.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    The only way to do this is with iPhoto Library Manager

    How can I show I'm avaiable online with Face Time

    I believe you can only view one time zone at a time.
    Assuming you have checked Calendar > Preferences > Advanced > Turn on time zone support, you can change which time zone you are viewing right now in the upper right of the Calendar window, just to the left of the search bar.

    Here is the solution I found.
    "Renaming %program files%/Common Files/Adobe/updater5 to something else removed the error."
    This seems like a brute force approach, but it does work. I checked the event logs after doing this and don't see any errors in the App or System logs. This folder is the location of AdobeUpdater.exe and all of the Adobe .cer files, so it makes sense that this works, but seems like it should generate other errors...
    This is not how I wanted to solve the problem but it did solve it.

  • Create complex component in JSF only with Java

    Hi, now I'm developing some JSF components. My objective is that the developers who use this components only need to write something like:
    <%@ taglib uri="http://chain.com" prefix="d" %>
    <d:somecomponent atributte1="value1" attribute2="value2"/>
    ...This somecomponent will have some subcomponents like HtmlInputSecret, etc.
    How can I create this subcomponents and render it only with Java?
    I can't found anywhere how to do this. Can somebody help me or tell me some URL where it is explained?
    Thank you,

    Hello,
    I am working on a similar need.
    Inside your UIComponent, create a data member like an UIInput.
    Set the rendererType("javax.faces.Secret");
    Do not forget to update the component structure : I mean do a setParent, for example.
    For the rendering step, just call encode subroutines (in the renderer class).
    For this kind of component, it works but for a UICommand with a javax.faces.Link renderer type it does not work.....yet...I will find the solution...
    Hope to help.

  • IPTC metadata behavior with faces

    With Aperture 3.5.1, a new behavior has been introduced -- writing the name assigned with Faces into the Keywords.
    This is problematic because:
    1.  It changes the keyword nomenclature and taxonomy
    2.  It is not implemented correctly.
    1.  I have already established a keyword taxonomy loosely copying the principal of the BDB keyword:value approach.  For example, I have established these keywords:
    event
    location
    family
    relative
    trip
    I then assign keyword to the photo such as:
    event:birthday
    location:home
    family: Mom, family: Dad, family: Bill
    Separately of course I can geo-locate the photo, and of course include a caption.  In the case of scanned images, the date may also be modified.
    In the past, I have used the 'Write IPTC metadata to original; feature to record this data structure within the IPTC structure.  Then I can search, sort, and organize the photos, within Aperture or in a third party tool.  Some search engines (swish-e for example) can examine IPTC metadata to allow one to automate the searching.  [In fact I wrote a filter to do this for swish-e http://search.cpan.org/dist/SWISH-Filter/lib/SWISH/Filters/IPTC2html.pm#AUTHOR].
    With its new behavior, Write IPTC Metadata to Original, now modifies the photo to include additional keywords, not in the keyword HUD or taxonomy, and also adds these new keywords to the Keyword HUD list.
    This is problematic because it removes control of the keywords from the archivist and it may expose sensitive information, such as the REAL NAME of an individual identified using Faces.
    2.  The names added by this function to the keyword list are incorrect!  In aperture, keywords are separated by commas (',') and then sorted alphabetically (likelyalphanumerically).  However names may contain commas.  For example, I am a "Junior" and I can write my name as 'Bill, Jr' to distinguish myself from my father.  So after writing the IPTC metadata for images that have names assigned, the keyword list is now modified to include 'Bill' and 'Jr.' as new keywords.
    Now I understand that IPTC does not include a way of identifying individuals by (x,y) location within the image.  Nevertheless there are conventional ways to write captions (left to right, front to back) to identify all individuals.  There is no need for Aperture to invent a new convention.
    Also, this new feature/bug introduces confusion, as searches for my father must now be structured as 'Bill NOT Jr.'  And it add no value to the search process.
    Is there a swtich available in aperture to restore the original behavior, that is, write the keywords that have been assigned and DO NOT make up new keywords?

    With its new behavior, Write IPTC Metadata to Original, now modifies the photo to include additional keywords, not in the keyword HUD or taxonomy, and also adds these new keywords to the Keyword HUD list.
    Not only with "Write IPTC Metadata to Original", also when exporting a version.
    Is there a swtich available in aperture to restore the original behavior, that is, write the keywords that have been assigned and DO NOT make up new keywords?
    My experiments have shown (for Faces) that this is toggled by the Aperture Preference "Export > Include Face Information into the exported photos". Try, if disabling this preference will stop this for your library. I have not yet tested the similar option for "Places".
    2.  The names added by this function to the keyword list are incorrect!  In aperture, keywords are separated by commas (',') and then sorted alphabetically (likelyalphanumerically).
    This is clearly a bug. Submit a bug-report, if you have a Developer account, or use the feedback form:
                Apple - Aperture - Feedback
