Making a playlist...

Is there a way to make a playlist from the songs currently stored on my ipod? I loaded the songs manually from my library without using any playlists (I dragged each song directly to ipod). Now, I regret doing it that way because I like the song selections and I want to be able to keep it as a playlist in my library. Can't seem to find a way to do this. Any help please.

No, you misunderstand. My songs are STILL in my iTunes Library. I would like to create a playlist of the songs that are CURRENTLY in my nano which I am currently managing manually. Each song on my nano, I dragged and dropped manually from my Library. Now, I would like to have a playlist of these songs in iTunes so that I can also use it on my iPod Video as well.
I SHOULD have created a playlist first and dragged that to my nanao but regrettably, I didn't. So now, I'm stuck with figuring out a way to create a playlist out of the contents. I hope I'm being clear. BTW, I'm already familiar with Senuti. Senuti can read playlists on your iPod and transfer it back to your computer but again, I have no playlist on my nano. Thanks.

  • As I import new cds, I have been making a playlist of the new album.  Would this result in reduced storage space on my ipod?

I have a 120 gig Ipod classic, and have frquently made a playlist of each new album after imporitng the album.  Is this resulting in using double the storage space on my ipod?
    thanks!

    No, it's simply a list.
However, I have to ask, why are you making a Playlist of each new album? To find any album on an iPod Classic, simply use the Album menu.

  • Can I Change Album Song Order Without Making a Playlist?

Some albums get reissued in a different order than I am used to. To reorder the songs, I have been making a playlist and dragging the songs over in the order I want them. But--this feels like many extra steps. Can you just import the cd, and then reorder the songs in iTunes? If so, how? Thanks!

I think I solved it, actually. I clicked on the title of a song, and the whole line was highlighted; I then dragged it into the position I wanted, dropped it, and it stuck. Kind of reminded me of re-arranging my favorites list. It was pretty easy once I figured it out.

  • I am making a playlist for a wedding and I need to shorten a song how do I do that?

I am making a playlist on my iPod for a wedding but I need to shorten a song, how can I do that?

Right-click the track in your iTunes library, Get Info, go to the Options tab, and set the Start and Stop times as you wish.

  • Problems with itunes while making a playlist?

I'm making a playlist in itunes. At 36 songs I got a message from my computer saying itunes stopped working. It closed itunes. I reopened it. Nothing wrong. Kept adding to my new playlist. At the 50-60 song area itunes froze. Still is at this moment. Anybody have a problem like this?
Note: The biggest playlist I've made is 76 songs.

Doesn't ring any specific bells, but everytime you make a change in iTunes, add a track to a playlist, update metadata, play a song, etc. it rewrites the database. If you have anti-virus software that is inspecting every file access it is just possible that it is interfering with iTunes as it tries to update. Have a look inside the iTunes folder. Are the lots of temp files? If so then I would delete them all, then adjust your AV to exclude the iTunes folder from all on access scanning.

  • When adding albums to my library it keeps making a playlist for every album

when i add albums to my library itunes adds them as playlist aswell how can i stop this. it only just started to do this why

I'm having the exact same problem.  It just started with the last update.
This is a horrible feature.  When I rescan my library, it adds thousands of playlists...and I have to delete them one at a time!!!!!!
How can we turn off this feature?

  • In iOS 7 is there any way to browse other playlists in order to add songs when making a playlist?

I have approximately 1000 albums and 14000+ songs available on iTunes Match.  In iOS 6 I could browse other playlists when creating a new playlist.  This was important because when I bought new music I would find it quickly by going to my "purchased" or "recently added" playlist and incorporate it into a playlist.  Now, iOS 7 appears to no longer allow this because the playlist tab is not available to browse when you go to add songs to a playlist. This may seem like a small problem but in reality it is a huge hassle for me and I assume any other users of iTunes Match or people with large music libraries.  I have not made a playlist on my phone or updated an existing playlist since upgrading to iOS 7.  Am I missing some way to add songs from other playlists?

Above the left side of the preview area it says Advanced mode. Click that and you can use everything in the graphics panel.

  • Making a playlist in Music Player on N80

Is there any easier way of doing it? It will not allow me to "mark several" which means I need to highlight each track and choose: Options > Mark/Unmark > Mark.
Coupled with the fact that it brings up a box that displays only two tracks at a time and a huge, pointless icon next to it.
I have a 1GB memory card crammed with music and it can take ten minutes to create a playlist using this slow and tedious method! Surely a better way of doing it would have been to just bring up a page with a list and allow you to press the left soft key to mark the track?
    Nokia N80 - v4.0623.0.41

Not sure if you think this is a huge improvement, but try this:
    Open music player
    Select libary > all tracks
Use the joystick (center keys) to navigate up/down the track list and mark tracks using the pencil icon to the left of the joystick. If tracks have a little tick mark the are marked.
Once your selection is made then
Select > Add to playlist > stored or new playlist.
In general I find the selection a bit tricky and it works best of you are selecting several tracks close to each other in the listing.
    Does this work for you?

  • What  size  is  the  limit  when  making  a  playlist  to  burn  to  CD

I have just been learning how to make a playlist in itunes-which i want to burn to a CD.The problem is itunes help info says the Cd can be 74 mins long contain 20 songs and be as big as 650MB.But i have 19 songs which it says is 1.4 hours long and is 79.2 MB in size.Does this mean that i can continue adding songs (as it says it is only 79.2MB in size)-or is the length of time more important then the MB size ? In which case would i have to delete a load of songs in order to get it to the 74 mins itune help says it should be (to burn onto a cd).I am confused ! -any suiggestions would be most appreciated. Also is the quality set or can i change the quality of songs ripped from Cd's ? (as i would want it to be the best quality it could be
    thanks
    rick

    Hi Rick,
It depends on what kind of disc you will be burning - a music disc (to play in your car, portable CD player, etc.) or a data disc (to back up the actual .mp3/.m4a files)
For a music disc: The playing time of the playlist to be burned cannot exceed 79 min, 59 sec. (rounded to 80 min for marketing purposes) It doesn't matter how many songs are in the playlist - as long as the total playing time doesn't exceed 80 min, it will all fit on a burned audio disc.
As a side note, click on the area where it displays "1.4 hours / 79.2 MB". The "1.4 hours" should change to something like "1:24:06", for instance. This gives you a more accurate indication of how much time the audio disc will use.
For a data disc: The content cannot exceed 700 MB in storage to burn a data disc, whether it is an .mp3 disc (for use in CD players capable of reading .mp3 discs) or a data disc. (a backup of the files in your iTunes library, including protected purchased tracks)
So to answer your question regarding "which is more important"... it all depends upon what the disc is being used for.
As far as changing the quality of the songs being encoded (i.e. "ripped") into iTunes, this is found under Preferences -> Advanced. Click on the "Importing" tab and you will find options to change the bitrate. This information is in the iTunes Help file as well.

  • Making A Playlist Shuffle?

Is it possible to make a playlist shuffle, so you can add all the music and it won't play the same band till all the songs you chose are through with that artist?

Ya, in the iPod settings, if you set it so it shuffles music, your playlists will be shuffled as well. At least it certainly is working that way on mine. Even when I pull up an artist and a specific album to listen to, it shuffles that album. So in my experience it is the iPod's setting that determines if shuffles is ON or not and if it is ON, then everything gets shuffled, library, play list, album, etc.

  • Won't  sync without making a playlist!

So I used to have an iPod 20GB, white last July, whatever. It got stolen.
So I finally bought a nice iPod Nano 4GB today, and I am having serious problems with it.
I have more songs than I have space on the nano for, so I went into iPod options and configured them like so:
Under the music tab, "automatically update all songs and playlists" is selected, as well as "only update checked songs" "open iTunes when this iPod is attached", "Enable disk use", "Display Album Artwork on your iPod".
Great. But when I try to update my iPod, I get the following Error message:
"The iPod "Spence's Nano" can't be updated because there is not enough free space to hold all of the songs in the iTunes music library. Would you like iTunes to delete enough photos and albums from the iPod to make room for the songs?"
This is BS. It says there is 67.2 MB of free space left on the iPod, both in the bottom right hand corner of the screen and on the iPod itself.
When I click no to that, it says:
"The iPod "Spence's Nano" cannot be updated because there is not enough free space to hold all the songs in the iTunes music library. Would you like iTunes to choose a selection of songs to copy to this iPod?"
Now. If I click Yes to that, all it does is make a playlist
and syncs it with the iPod. All I want it to do is sync the songs in my library that are checked and my playlists! Is that so much to ask for?
    I appreciate any help! Thanks!

Thank you for your response. Yes, it very well could've been iTunes 9.
Okay, I got the first part of your workaround. I unchecked the "Automatically include" checkbox in the Podcasts tab.
However I don't see where "Include Episodes from Playlists" option is. I've checked my playlist I want to sync in the Music tab under Playlists, but I obviously need to do something else because it's still not syncing. Where do I find that?
