Making a project into an album

I got my Aperture 2 when I was busy trying to install my Time Machine. I automatically put all my new pictures into project boxes as shown at the top of the pull-out tab. Now, since they are varied shots of my three year old grandson, I'd like to make them into folders to store under his name in the program. I already lost one set of photos (I still have the original images. Is there an easy way to transfer the images from that 1st on the list project into an album so that they won't disappear when I semi-close the list?

you can't turn a project into an album ... images live in projects ... albums are "references" to images in those projects ...
projects can live in folders ... projects can contain folders and albums ...
i'd suggest reading these articles:
http://www.bagelturf.com/aparticles/library/index.php
and getting this book:
http://www.amazon.com/Apple-Pro-Training-Aperture/dp/0321539931/ref=sr11?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1220620646&sr=1-1
you need to get the basic understand of the aperture library way of storing and sorting images ...

  • During import, how to auto split one project into multiple albums based on date?

I believe I've done enough aperture reserach to get all my terminology right, so here goes...
I've created a file structure within the aperture inspector the the tune of:
Year [folder], Type of event (Occasion, special occasion, holiday, vacation) [folder], Project (Wedding), Album (i.e. Day 1, Day 2 or Pre wedding week, event, honeymoon).
I also have entire months with 7 or 8 pictures each day, that are of the same type/project (random dog pictures) but are distinctly different days (albums - day in park, in bed at night, watching movie).
My question is, can I import one project with multiple albums already created based on the date they're taken.  As I can see it, all I can do is split individual projects automatically by date.  But what if one project is over one month, but has multiple distinct days that would be ideal for albums?  One more example.  We did a trip to San Fran.  One day was touring the city, one day was a concert, another day was touring the city.  All one project, but 3 different albums (in my mind).  I had to import as one project, then separately go in and make albums.  I would like that done automatically.
My suspicion is that I can not natively do this within aperture, and that I would need something called an "applescript."  I haven't done any reserach into that area, so if that's the case and you know where I can find a script that would do this, I'd appreciate the help.
Sorry for the wordiness, just wanted to be clear.  Thanks for any and all help!

    Hi,
You need to create a new requirement in tcode VOFM for that, together with your ABAP consultant. This requirement will be used in copy contol.

  • Making Image Fit Into Photo Album

I am using photoshop elements 11 trial version before I buy one.  I'm trying the wedding photo album, but I'm having trouble fitting a picture into the picture "slots" for lack of a better term.  One picture that I simply want as a full picture is 8.5 x 11, 300 dpi.  Photoshop elements will not let me see the entire picture.  What do I do?

Do you mean you want to drag a picture from the photo bin to the working space so that they fit in one free location of the template ?
If the size in pixels of the dragged picture is much bigger than the final size in the template, you'll see only a small part of it in your template. If you want to resize the layer where the dragged photo has been copied, you can't see the bounding rectangle to resize the layer.
You could resize a copy of the file to drag to a smaller size before dragging, but it would be easier to use the following method:
    - I have set the preference to zoom with the wheel of my mouse.
    - Once I have dragged my image to the template, I use the shortcut Ctrl T ( free transform) I zoom strongly so that the whole picture looks much smaller and the bounding box of the new layer appears entirely. Alternatively I can use the navigator slider to reduce the zoom range so that the bounding box appears around the reduced view of the template.
    - I select a corner of the bounding box and move it towards the center to resize the image so that it fits roughly into the template; and I zoom back to normal view of the template to adjust the size and position of the layer with the move tool.

  • Making multiple projects into one SCORM

I have made multiple Captivate 5 projects that need to transform into one SCORM Module on my moodle LMS website, and count as one SCORM Quiz/Test. I've tried to even load multiple projects in one zip, but it failed to jump to the other projects when I had them all linked together leaving only this: "loading..." when I click the button to open project on the SCORM package. Please Help... Thanks...

I'm assuming here that your questions are related to the fields in the Quiz Preferences in Captivate.
The Objective ID is the same for all reporting elements in a given module. The Interaction ID Prefix just helps to distinguish which particular module your question data came from if you happen to be viewing it on drilldown inside your LMS.  As long as it's not the same prefix as for other modules, it should be fine.
In the Multi-SCORM Packager dialog, the information you add to the fields will be written to the imsmanifest.xml file for the overall package:
Identifier is to provide an ID for your course that will be unique in your LMS. This will also be used to generate the filename of the final zip file.
Title is the name of the course.
Description may or may not be required by your LMS.  Test and see.  In some LMSs this info gets displayed to the user when viewing a synopsis of the course.
Version is the version of the package.  I actually use the date reversed for my versioning (20110520a) with a letter on the end in case I output more than one version on a given day.
Duration is important to add. Some LMSs won't regard your package as compliant without this.
Subject is not something I've generally worried about, but it doesn't hurt to put a brief phrase on what the course topic material is about (e.g. Health and Safety)

You can make a self executing jar.
As far as exe "conversion" goes. This question is asked with great frequency please search these forums and google for results. There are tools to both "wrap" your code with an exe loader and tools to actually turn it into to executables.
There is also Java Webstart which may be what you are actually looking for
Anyway good luck with your searching.

  • How to add project, folder or album in full screen mode

I love the full screen mode but I do need to go back (F) to "normal" mode for library changes like adding a new album, folder or project.
All other library functions do work like move projects into folder etc.
The function is shown in "inspector" (right mouse button) but you can not select the function.
Is this not supported like the faces and places "button" in full screen mode as i learned reading this forum?

If you close Firefox while in full screen mode then Firefox should start the next time in full screen mode as well.
If that doesn't happen the see:

  • Crashes while importing TIFFs.  Also, how to import directly into an album?

Just got Aperture last night in the mail. Upgraded to 1.1.1.
I have about 250 CDs with TIFF images that I've created over the years. The TIFF files were created by a Nikon film scanner. Some of those images were later re-touched and re-saved using Photoshop.
In any event, I started importing all those CDs into Aperture to consolidate all my photographs in one place. On the first CD, Aperture crashed unexpectedly for no reason. The Aperture database would also get corrupted and I would have to delete it, and start from scratch.
Here's what I discovered. If I wait for Aperture to generate a thumbnail of all the images in the CD before I click on the "Import All" button, there are four images in the CD for which Aperture does not generate a thumbnail. Furthermore, if I tried to import the same CD into iPhoto, all files but those four would get imported. At least iPhoto doesn't crash, and after the import is finished it would tell me that four photographs could not be imported because the format was not recognized. The interesting thing is that Photoshop can open every single file on the CD (again, all of them are TIFF images)
So my (painful) workaround is to import all my CDs into iPhoto first, and then import into Aperture from iPhoto, which works very well. That way the Aperture repository doesn't get corrupted.
So, question 1: does anybody know if there's a special setting in Aperture that would stop it from crashing and gracefuly skip over any photographs that it can't recognize?
Question 2: I want to import every single CD into its own album so I later know what CD I can find the image on. Aperture seems to import always onto the project, not the album. Is there a way around this?
When I import into iPhoto, I create an empty album and then drag the files from the CD onto that album. If I then import the iPhoto album into Aperture, Aperture automatically creates an album, which is nice. I'd love to do the same but with iPhoto out of the picture (excuse the pun). That would speed up the import process tremendously.
    Thanks for your help,
    Julian

    Are there two questions here?
    1. You can indeed create an album under a Project in advance and Import direct to that. One Album per CD? Works fine. Just point the Import Arrow at the Album. NOTE: the Masters are actually held in the Project (this is true across Aperture) and Pointers are held in the Album .... but the effect is of Albums with photos > Project containing all the photos.
    2. These TIF files are not corrupt, if Photoshop or iPhoto opens them. This has got to be an Aperture bug and I have the same issues with TIF's. Created a thread about it, so I hope the Aperture development team did read it (please, please, please). You could convert in Photoshop to .PSD vs. resaving (unless this is what you did) as I haven't noted this problem with .PSD files

  • In Aperture 3, how can I easily move entire projects out of my main Ap Library into other libraries?  My Ap library is running super slow because it's overloaded l so I have created two new libraries, but can't seem to move the projects into them

In Aperture 3, how can I easily move entire projects out of my main Ap Library into other libraries?  My Ap library is running super slow because it's overloaded, so I have created two new libraries, but can't seem to move the projects into them?

    Hello Annabel,
To move entire projects export them as Aperture Libraries, and then import those Libraries into the other Aperture Library:
Select the Project in the Inspector, then
File -> Export -> Project as Library
    In the other Library do:
    File -> Import  -> Library/ Project
But I am not quite convinced, that the size of your current Aperture Library is responsible for the slowness of Aperture - Aperture is designed to cope with huge libraries.
You may want to post your hardware setup and details of your library, and some of the hardware experts here may help you to find the reason for the slowness.
A huge library should only be a problem, if the projects are too big, and if you have many, many smart albums at the root level of your library.
So keep the projects small, and try to move some of your smart albums to lower levels in your folder structure (then Aperture does not need to scan all of your images to build the smart album).
Other reasons for Aperture's slowness may be, e.g.
An overfull system drive and/or external drive (keep at least 20% of your drives empty)
    lack of RAM
a corrupted Aperture Library, that needs repairing
Have you checked those options, before you split your library? It would be a pity to split it, for you would loose the ability to browse all parts at the same time, to use all your images in the Media Browser, etc.

    Léonie

  • Import package from one project into another

    Hello everyone,
    I have some projects.
An enterprise and war project created in netbeans.
I would like to use some files from one project to another. when I import
the package I get the error-
    'package x does not exist'
I have added the package to the project but I still get the error.
I have also added the project to import to my glasspath but still.
    E.g.
    set classpath
    .;c:\enterpriseA;
My next idea is to create a war project into my enterprise project and copy the files
from the war project into it in order to use it. But I'm sure there is a better way.
    THanking you in advance.

One mistake I keep making is that I don't add the package to the
Dependencies of the plugin I'm writing. You have to go to plugin.xml,
and add the package you depend on to the Dependencies section. Maybe you
    didn't do this?

  • Can't drag certain images into other albums

Hi, forgive me if this has been covered here, but I couldn't find it in search.
I cannot copy certain image versions to other albums within the same project for some reason. I have a couple hundred shots in this project, and most drag/copy into the album fine, but there is at least one that does not, no matter what I do. I've tried unstacking it from it's stack, etc. -- still won't copy.
It does act as if it's copying though -- the green plus sign appears over the album - but it never appears in that album.
    Suggestions?

Make sure you are not filtering what the browser is showing in that album. Check that the searching box doesn't have anything written on it. By default should say 'Unrated or better'. Also if those versions you are copying are marked as rejects you'll need to select in the searching box 'Show all"

  • How do you cancel loading a project into IDVD

Hello. A few months ago I tried loading a project into IDVD and it took so long that I forgot about it. I have tried rebooting my computer several times but it still "swirls" saying "loading project" every time I open IDVD. I am now in need of loading a new project for school and it is still saying it is loading the same project from several months ago. The computer won't allow me to close the popup box, or anything. Any information or suggestions would be great! Thank you so much!!

Delete the iDVD preference file, com.apple.iDVD.plist, that's located in your User/Library/Preferences folder. Then launch iDVD and you should be asked to either open an existing project or start a new one.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
NOTE: this is not the same as routinely backing up your entire iPhoto library folder to protect your photos. It only protects the loss of your organizational efforts that the database file contains.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • HT1451 Putting songs into one album

    Hi there,
This is really annoying i have downloaded music & won't to put it into one album, but on my ipod it comes up as mutiple, i've tried putting 'various artists' in album artist but nothing is working. I have downloaded the music from torrentz.
    Thanks in advance
    barker

The album title must be identical in each song, making sure there are no extra trailing spaces after the title.
    E.G.:
    "Album Title"
    "Album Title "
Also, mark all the songs as Part of a Compilation. Leave the "Various Artists" in the Album Artist box.
You might want to refrain from mentioning where you got the songs from unless you are 100% positive that you are legally allowed to have them.

  • Organizing for stock library. Projects, folders or albums?

This may have been talked about to death, but I cannot find a thread that fits my question.
I have a growing library of images in Aperture. I am also a stock photographer by living. My library in Aperture is somewhat haphazard and I'm trying to organize it so that I can have it make sense. I do not sell my photos as stock myself (I submit to several agencies) so I'm not sure that I need to file my images so that I can get to them if a client needs a shot. That's what the agencies are for.
My work flow is something like this:
    1 - shoot pix
2 - import and edit (read: delete) images in Aperture
3 - prepare and submit images to agencies
    4 - next....
I do find myself taking pix of many of the same subjects, so I do want to organize them in Aperture.
My main question is, what is the best, or most efficient, way to organize major subjects in the library, with Projects, Folders, or Albums?
For instance, I shoot a production with models. That could be a project titled " August 14 production." When the submission is done, i could archive the entire project to save space. But, suppose I want to keep some around to submit to a different agency. Is a project the best way to store this?
Also, I find myself shooting a lot of NYC landmarks. Should each landmark be in its own project, or have it be an album in a project called NYC, or should it be a project in a folder called NYC?
I'm really not sure what the most efficient filing method is for my business.
Any discussion and/or advice is GREATLY APPRECIATED!
    Antonio

n attempting to relocate a folder it did not end up where intended and I cannot find it.
I hope you are referring to doing the relocation from within iPhoto and not in the Finder and the library package. Any moving, renaming of files and/or folder inside the iPhoto Library Package while in the Finder is tantamount to the cardinal sin of iPhoto, Don't tamper with files in the iPhoto Library folder from the Finder. That will mess up your library to where you may have to start over with a new library.
Can you describe where these folders and albums were located when you were moving them?
    Do you Twango?

  • Problems Importing Premiere Pro Project into After Effects

I've got my first Pemiere Pro CS6 project completed. Now i want to import it into After Effects CS6 to add titles.
The PR file includes two segments, two still photos and two AE compositions. I am trying to import the PR project into AE two different ways:
    1. File>Import> Adobe Dynamic Link>Adobe Premier Project. When I do this, the project looks great in the Footage tab of the RAM preview window on the right. But when I make a new sequence to get it on the Timeline so that I can begin to add titles, I get only  blackness in the Comp tab of the ram preview window whether I am playing a RAM preview or a spacebar preview.
    2. File>Import> Adobe Premier Project. When I do this, the two AE segments are missing.
I am on an iMac with OSX.7.4.
Can anyone give me some advice on the best way to do this?
    Thanks!
    --Carol Gunn

You will need to render out those two AE compositions to video before you can bring them back into AE through dynamic link.  If you are concerned with making changes, you can always replace footage in Premiere with a new render.
Dynamic Link is just not designed with your workflow -- AE doesn't open multiple projects at one time, and your workflow ends up with AE trying to open 3.
You can bring those two compositions into AE as imports.  They won't be linked together (so any changes in original project will not reflect in imported version) but you would have all 4 elements in one AE project.
