Making a Quicktime movie a link

I have exported a Keynote presentation as a Quicktime movie to my webpage I have created in iWeb. Does anyone know how to make the Quicktime movie a link to another page?
Thanks.

Thank you for all of the replies.
Kyn, I see on the link you provided that you were able to incorporate a link in your movie. That's what I would like to do but I do not find instructions on how to do it.
Just to clarify, I created a Keynote presentation and exported it as a Quicktime movie to place in my iWeb made website. It is just a photo slideshow but I would like to also make it a hyperlink so that at any time the slideshow is clicked on, it goes to another page or website, etc. My first problem is that when the slideshow is clicked on it stops the slideshow and restarts when I click again instead of going to another page. How can I eliminate the click activated stop/start of the slideshow and instead create a click activated hyperlink.
Thanks again for everybody's help and great information.

  • Making a Quicktime movie clip from non-commercial DVD

I want to capture a five minute clip of video from a non-commercial (i.e. homemade) DVD and save as a Quicktime movie. How do I go about this?

You will need QuickTime Pro and the Viewer, both available for purchase from the Apple Store. One word of caution, when I try to pull video from my home-made DVDs, QT only play the first 2 to 6 seconds of the video that may be almost an hour long. I am trying to find a solution, but before I would recommend that you spend the $50 to purchase Pro and Viewer, I would wait until there is some resolution to this problem.

  • Safari crashed opening quicktime movies after 10.4.4

    Hi,
Tried to open quicktime mov (from link on website) from safari and safari crashed. Tried a few times (after re-logging, and restarting) with the same result. Quicktime standalone v.7.0.4 have no problem starting. Finally resorted to Firefox, without any problems and no crashes running quicktime mov!
Also found-out that on some website, you need to disable plug-ins and Java (from the preferences) before able to click links. Try "www.aqua-macro.com". Website problems? or plug-ins/java?
    Thanks.

I originally updated through sys pref and just let it go. One day later things stopped working. Repairing permissions etc did nothing. Applied the combo update, verified the disk before hand, repaired permissions after the update and reboot, now things are back to normal as far as I can tell, better even in some areas. Hope this can help others with similar problems.

  • Crashed before finished writing Quicktime movie

I have a webcam program that was making a quicktime movie. It crashed before it finished, and the movie is 5 Gig so I know the data are there but I can't open it - QT says "not a valid file" presumably because the file wasn't closed with the rid terminator data or something like that. How do I convert it or at least see the 5 Gig of video that I did get before it crashed??

  • Embedding Quicktime mov

I have imported Quicktime video into flash with no problem.
This time when the mov. is embedded I get weird little horz. lines
as the video goes along. You can see this at
    http://www.ramseydesign.biz/movies.html
the bottom movie on the left (outtakes). If anyone can figure this
out I would love to know what I have or haven't done correctly. Has
it got to do with interlacing. I have deinterlaced making the
Quicktime mov. which I have done for the others. So, I don't get
    it.

    You're not hallucinating.
The public documentation for XMP embedding is currently behind the shipping products. We're working on getting updated documentation out, can't say anything about exactly when.

  • Links in Quicktime Movies

I need to put links into the end of a Quicktime movie. I've tried this tutorial:
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/tutorials/hreftracks.html, but it doesn't work. I heard there was an automator script to add URL's to a Quicktime movie, but it doesn't allow me to specify where I can add the link to the movie.
    Any suggestions?

After a couple hours of troubleshooting (AKA beating my head
against a wall) I found my problem. The user computer did not have
quicktime installed on it. I even have a link from my projector to
install quicktime, I just wasn't thinking. As far as the text goes
I was just missing an xtra, easy fix.

  • Streaming QuickTime movie without any links (i.e.:"file, edit, view, help")

    Hello all,
I am streaming videos, using 'VitalStream', for items I have for sale. The local governing board of the organazation/web site I am posting these movies on will not let me post any 'links to other areas of the web site where there is promotional information'. So, the 'file, edit, view, help' on the quicktime player or movie is considered 'links' according to the organization.
Is there a way I can export the movies, from iMovie HD or GarageBand or QuickTime Pro, so those links do not show on the streaming video? All I want to show is the movie and the play/pause functions, or if I can get it to just show the movie and sound that would be o.k. too. The majority of people who will be viewing these movies are using PC's. Should I get 'flip 4 mac' and convert it to wmv, will that cut out the 'links'?
    PowerBook G4 1.67   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   iPod 80 G, iLife '06, iWork '06, QuickTime Pro, Sony DCR-HC96.

Not familiar with Vitalstream...but if you embed your QuickTime movie into a web page, you can control whether or not there is a controller, and there is no player skin involved. The movie you embed can be either a full movie, or a reference to a movie running on a streaming server somewhere.
The key is that instead of opening the movie in QuickTime player, you want it to run in the browser plug-in. Here, let me show you a couple of examples from my own pages. The code is fairly clean; feel free to rip off my embedding code if you want.. 8-)
The most basic form of movie embedding can be seen on this page where a movie plays within the page, with its controller, which includes a play/pause control and a scrubbing bar.
By comparison, on this page, about halfway down on the right-hand side there is an embedded movie with no controls on it, set to loop continuously. Again, you can look at the source to see how it was done.
Please note that I'm using an old form of object embedding that has some issues in Internet Explorer. It still works, but in order to use the controllers the user has to click on the movie twice. Also, in my case, the movies are stored on my web site, and are not streamed at all. If I were using a streaming host, I could put a reference movie on my site and use it to point to the stream.

  • HT3775 my mac wont play a quicktime movie file, it keeps saying i need a codec and then bringing me to this page. there is no links on where to get this codec? help!!!

I try play this quicktime movie file and then it says i do not have the required codec and the only thing i can press is "ok" or "tell me more" and then it just brings me to this page, it says nothing about how to obtain this certain codec. I need this to work on my macbook! Its not the video file because it works perfectly fine on the iMacs at University. Help me out, please!

Quicktime has it's limitations and can't, natively, play certain video formats.
Try VLC.  It should be able to play anything you throw at it.

  • How does Apple link external "play" buttons to quicktime movies.

If you look at some of Apple's demo movies on their website, take Motion 3 demo for an example, they use external controller buttons to control the quicktime movie. Anyone know how they do this?

  • Help with making DVD from quicktime movie

I just made a dvd using IDVD of my FCE sequence. I selected make dvd from movie. The FCE sequence was comprised of two parts. The first part of the time line was a sequence I imported as a quicktime movie and the remaining time line was the edited sequence which was the later part of the completed fce project. When I made an IDVD copy of the sequence (after exporting the full sequence to yet another quicktime movie), the only part of the sequence that recorded on the dvd was the first part --the quicktime movie I imported into the full sequence. As I watched the video asset encoding process I saw the 2nd half of the sequence encoding onto the burn but when I play the DVD it only plays the first part of the sequence over and over again and is missing the second part.
    Any ideas why this happened?

  • Making quicktime movie

Hi, I burned a DVD of my movie on iDVD tonight, and when I checked it on my computer's DVD player, it played fine, but it looked terrible. I was wondering if someone could help me figure out what the problem is and how to burn the DVD properly?
My movie is HD, and I edited it on Final Cut Pro. I exported it to a quicktime file, and then used that quicktime file on iDVD. Is there a special setting I need to select when I export the quicktime file to make sure it is HD? Or is it possible that iDVD is degrading the file when I upload it there? I would really appreciate your help!! This is my senior thesis, and it's due on Thursday! Thanks!

When exporting from Final Cut, be sure that you choose: Export/Quicktime Movie. This is different from: Export/Using Quicktime Conversion.
From the dialog box choose Self-Contained. This will create a file that is identical to the sequence settings in Final Cut.
However, after that, you'll be compressing it down to fit into a standard def DVD so there are places that could cause problems.
For one, I'm not a big fan of iDVD and haven't used it for years. It uses a different compression than DVD Studio Pro which is what I would suggest for the best possible DVD.
Take the exported file into Compressor and use the Best DVD preset. Probably the 90 min preset is fine, but if your thesis is longer you may have to choose 120 or 150. From there import it into DVDSP and use one of the templates if you're uncomfortable with the program. A quick start tutorial can guide you in the basic DVD authoring process inside DVDSP and I believe that the result will be better.
Finally, when you play a DVD on your Mac, keep in mind that you are playing a standard def DVD. That is to say it's 720x480. The average 23" Cinema Display is displaying at resolutions similar to 1080 HD. So if you're watching it "blown up" on the screen then you are not seeing a correct representation of what it'll look like on a normal TV screen. When playing the DVD in the Mac's DVD Player, hit CMD+2 to play it at the resolution of the DVD. It may look small, but it'll be correct resolution. Better yet, play the DVD on a TV.

  • Making quicktime movie without rendering?

can i export a quicktime movie from my timeline, without the timeline sequence being competely rendered, or will the lack of complete rendering affect the quality of my movie?
or will in fact the exporting take care of the rendering at the same time?
(i am having 'not-enough-time-to-do-both' issues you see...)
    cheers
    -j-

Exporting will built the render files into the export. Qualitatively it will make no difference. However, you won't have access to those render files when you're finished exporting as they will only exist as part of the export file. If you render first those renders live in your Render folder and are duplicated into the export, or are used in the reference export.

  • Quicktime MOV washed out

Hi, I had a movie edited in AE and rendered with format of Quicktime movie while everything remained default. But the color of the rendered movie was washed out when played in quicktime player.
If I rendered the movie with Windows Media format, the rendered movie was OK.
Was I missing something in the output module settings for quicktime mov?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Regards
    jusko

Thanks Steve, Steven and Todd for your responses. I am sorry that I hadn't mentioned my OS is Windows Vista with AE CS3.
Steve : In the output module, I selected Quicktime Movie format and by default the codec is H.264 which I think is the culprit for making the washed out mov. I then followed your advice to use Animation and the result was great! I'll try different settings for a better result. But I wonder why H.264 yields such a poor result as most movies nowadays use this codec.
Steven : I tried switching on "Match Legacy After Effects Quicktime Gamma Adjustments" in Project Settings, and left everything default, but the result was the same, e.g. the color of the rendered mov was lighter than the original.
Todd : I'll read carefully the information on the link that you mentioned.
    Best Regards
