Making a Slideshow.

How do I get a slideshow of only the photos that are highlighted?

Thanks for the e-mail, Brett N.
I am soooooooooo lost!!!!!
I am a real estate broker.   Before my old computer motherboard died, I was using the Photoshop software that came pre-loaded.  It was great.  I'd upload photos of houses, make a slideshow, save it as a file and attach it to an e-mail to my prospective buyers and to listing sellers.  I thought I had downloaded Photoshop for Beginners, but I seem to be working in Lightroom.  I have the slideshow already stored to a file.  However, it doesn't attach to an e-mail as I did before.
I'm now working in Windows 8 on my desktop.  The new software has changed so much that I'm having difficulty in maneuvering.  The "Help" offered doesn't answer my questions.  I can't find a phone number for customer support to talk to a "person".  Can you give me a contact phone number of someone who can help me over the phone?
I really need to get this slideshow to a prospective buyer.
Thanks!
Joan

  • Making & Burning Slideshow using 'slideshow' at bottom of iPhoto Library?

Hello. I would appreciate if someone can help me from beginning to finished product of making a slideshow using for example the Snapshot effect and music from iTunes.
I will go over in point form to the point where I am unable to proceed any further:
    1--I select pictures in iPhoto.
2--I click on 'slideshow' at the bottom of the iPhoto page.
3--I click on 'themes' and select 'snapshots'.
4--I click on the iTunes icon in slideshow and choose music.
This is as far as I have been able to go as I dont see anything that
will allow me to transfer this to DVD.
I am making a 100th birthday slideshow and hope someone can assist me on this. Thanks.

Go to the Share menu at the top and select the iDVD option. When you've completed the iDVD project save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option.
This will separate the encoding process from the burning process. Mount the disk image and play it with DVD Player. If it plays OK the encoding was good. Now burn to disk with Disk Utility at the slowest speed possible to get the best quality burn.

  • I'm making a slideshow on iPhoto and can't get a custom music to play

I'm making a slideshow on IPhoto 9.5.1 and can't get a custom music file to play.  I've got all the latest updates and have selected what I think are all the rights boxes.  What is the most common error made that would keep music from playing?  The only music that will play while using the Ken Burns effect is the standard song.  Help!

Launch iTunes use the File -> Library -> Organize Library -> Reorganize Library menu option. Then quit and relaunch iPhoto.

Re: Why when making a slideshow in iphoto, then going to share idvd, when making dvd i keep getting multiplex error

    Hi
There are so many things that can give - multiplex error
    Two very common ones
    • Using letters other than A to Z or 0 to 9 eg. / # ; etc. in texts, titles, buttons or alike's.
    • Turn on TV-Safe area in iDVD and secure that no text or object goes past this or even touching it.

  • I am making a slideshow. How do you make a text slide?

I am making a slideshow. How do you make a text slide? I have not found a tutorial.

If you want to superimpose text on a slide: simply click on the text button on the tool bar
If you want to have a blank slide with just text: create a black (or whatever colour you prefer) slide and use that behind the text.

  • How do I keep the volume consistent on iPhoto when making a slideshow with video?

I am making a slideshow for my church. I first made it in iMovie but the picture quality was lost considerably when I uploaded them into iMovie. I read that there was no way around that, so to use iPhoto instead. I have video's that I am including, but when ever I apply it all with the song I want to play, when ever the videos come up the sound gets quiet as if it were allowing the videos to be heard. I DONT want that. I do not have any sound for the video's and dont want any. Is there any way to make the volume consistant throughout the entire slideshow?
If not, is there a way to keep the picture quality on iMovie????

PhotoPresenter will not mute selected music over a movie file that does not have a sound track component.  I use Quicktime Player with QT Pro and can strip out any audio track in a movie.  PP then plays it without dipping the sound during the movie portion.  This demo page has a few of the over 20 animated themes in PP:  PhotoPresenter Animated Slideshow Themes
There  may be others with the same capability but with PP there have to be no sound track component in the file like the one shown in this screenshot in QT Player 7:

  • Needing help making a Slideshow in Premiere 7

Back in 2008 several contributors on this forum helped me make a slideshow using Photoshop Elements 6 and Premiere Elements 4, which I am forever grateful for. It was a long process as I had never made a slideshow before, but after much labor I created a wonderful slideshow of my Alaska photos with music. After a lot of reading I decided to upgrade to Elements and Premiere 7, which I was able to actually do for free.   I purchased the Muvipix.com Guide to Adobe Premiere Elements 7 as I was told this would be a great resource to help me out. Well, here I am two years later trying to make a slideshow again and still as confused as ever. I am trying to make the slideshow in Adobe Premiere Elements, as I was told last time it was easier to do it that way if I wanted to add music to it. I am just getting started and am already confused.
My first question is: Am I best off making the slide show in Premiere Elements rather than Photoshop Elements? I want to add music to it.
I have tried using both the book that came with the program and the Muvipix book and I am lost on step one.
In the Adobe manual it says to deselect the Show Video and Show Audio buttons. Why do I need to deselect these?
In the Muvipix book it tells me to select a number of clips amd then either right-click on them or click on the ">>" button to access the "Create Slideshow" too.  I can't find the ">>" button. How do I access the the "Create Slideshow" feature?
I have a question about the stills that show up in the panel. Many actual photos appear in this panel. However, there are also a large group of boxes with two swirling arrows, one green and one red. Why are they there rather than actual photos? I have tried double clicking on a few and they all bring up the same photo folder from "my pictures." I am confused.
Sorry if my questions seem very basic, but this is not what I do for a living. It is a once every couple of year hobby. Perhaps if I ever get it downpat I will do it more often.
Thanks for any help you can give me. I am sure I will need a little more handholding. I have been looking for the last two years for a class on this program. I know that is what I need. However, none have been available in my area.

Thanks for the response Steve. I am hoping it will be easier this time around.
"If you're seeing empty boxes with swirling arrows in them instead of your photos in the Project panel, it means that the program no longer has access to the photos -- either because they were moved or the device that they were on (your camera?) was disconnected from the computer. You really need to copy these photos to your computer's hard drive if you're going to use them in a project"
These photos were still on the harddrive. I checked in Photoshop Elements and they needed to get reconnected. Here is what I think happened. When I download my photos, they go into MY PICTURES. When I move them from where they automatically get placed by the program, into a folder of my choice, they seem to get "unconnected". I was able to reconnect them and now they appear in Premiere Elements. Thanks for the tip which actually led me to a solution.
"There are actually at least four different ways to make a slideshow in Premiere Elements and Photoshop Elements. Each has advantages. Which method are you using? (In all cases, as I say in my book, you should make sure your photos are sized to no larger than 1000x 750 pixels in size before you begin.)"
I am just starting and I was using Premiere Elements 7. I thought I was told back in 2008 on this forum it was easier to do it all in Premiere Elements if I wanted to add music rather than creating it in Photoshop Elements and then moving it to Premiere. As far as photo size, I am a real beginner here. I have no idea what size they are or where to look to find that out. All I know is that  my Alaska slideshow turned out great and did nothing about changing pixels. Where would I find out how to change pixel size?
"It sounds like you're using the Create Slideshow tool in the Project media panel. (As I say in Chapter 1, you'll only be able to see the >> menus if you go to the Window drop-down menu and select Show Docking Headers.) You can also access this tool by selecting all of the photos you want to include in the Project panel and right-clicking on them."
I did read about Show Docking Headers and did follow that instruction. That was the first thing I did, actually. However, when I am in Premiere ELements, I still don't see where I find the Create Slideshow tool that you mention on p. 59. I am a bit confused with this option. I can move the photos I want from the panel to the Timeline, but I am confused as to where the "Create Slideshow Tool" is located.
Thanks again for your help.I know I will get this done, just very slowly.

  • Best Process for making DVD slideshows w/iDVD

Hasn't someone made a Sticky about this yet??
I just perused the forum for this answer and it seems the user "Shippley" has provided the most help in this area. I'm hoping they can help in this case. For making a dvd slideshow using ONLY iMovie, iPhoto and or iDVD what process has been determined to provide the best visual quality on playback in a DVD player?
I've read that for best results in putting a slideshow onto a DVD is to make the slideshow in iPhoto or iMovie first, and then send it on to iDVD.
But I need more information, and in one location-
Should the iPhoto/iMovie slideshow be WITHOUT any transitions for best quality?
In iPhoto, should we organize our slideshow in an Event then Share > Send to iDVD for best results, or is there a better way?
Does iMovie HD (6.0.4) or iMovie '08 (7.1.4) make a difference in quality? Otherwise I want the easiest.
When the iMovie slideshow is being sent to iDVD, should we use Share>Export Movie for the best quality when sending to iDVD? Or is there another/better way?
My photo's are scanned from slides and are small file sizes, if they were large (like from a digital camera) do I have to resize them for optimum DVD viewing?
What about the settings for widescreen or standard, either one better?
iDVD encoding, Best/High/Professional, which one for best clarity?
Like most other infrequent DVD makers, I do not want a fancy slideshow, I don't care if it has transitions if it means I can have better clarity in the DVD player. I have old slides that I simply want to burn to a DVD.
    Thanks for your help!
    Sandy

Here is a quote from a post of F Shippley on March 8, 2010 that I am referring to. Bengt, you also responded to this post. The post is titled "poor picture quality with DVD slideshow".
Thus my confusion as to the best practice. I may look into Fotomagico, but like others, I don't want to have to pay for another application that may only be used once or twice a year! Thank you for your responses.
F Shippley writes, "As I told you in your other message yhread:
The easiest way to improve the quality of slideshows for use with iDVD is to create them as movies in iPhoto or iMovie! Creating slideshows in iDVD has MANY drawbacks (as you have probably found). It's 'quick and dirty' easy for a few slides, but that's about all I use it for.
BTW, for PAL DVDs use 768x576 pixel images for standard video and use 1024x576 pixel images for widescreen video. That's all the resolution a DVD supports. "

  • Making Photo Slideshows along with movies

Does FCE HD or FCP HD make good quality slideshows. iMovie seems to lose a lot of quality wihen making slideshows with photos. I am looking to make a DVD with movies as well as photos, and I am wondering what would app would give me the best quality.
    Macbook Pro

    I use Photo-to-Movie under http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
It makes better DV quality slideshows than iPhoto or iDVD (less shimmer and pixelation) and allows for very precise motion control of the "Ken Burns" effect. Then I import the finished "movie" to FCE and then export the movie to Livetype or Soundtrack to add titles or my own music.

  • Making a slideshow for the web

Does anyone know if I can take the DVD that I made and put it in a web page?
or maybe use another program to convert it into a movie so that i can put it on the web.
I am looking for a program that can make a dvd and also put that same thing into a format that I can post it on the web. will iDVD do that for me.
    Thanks

I am a photographer and am looking for a simple way to make slideshows for my clients that won't take a ton of time
OK - that changes things. I use Extensis Portfolio to share images with customers. You can create a slideshow to put on a disc as well as web pages.
Check out http://www.extensis.com/en/products/assetmanagement/productinformation.jsp?id=prod60006 It may co$t a little more than you want.
You might also want to look at RapidWeaver from http://www.realmacsoftware.com/rapidweaver/ for creating web pages with slideshows and FotoMagico for making slideshows http://www.fotomagico.com/
Roxio's Toast Titanium 7 comes with a nice slideshow application for discs. http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/toast/titanium/overview.html

  • When making a slideshow in iPhoto some iTunes files can no longer be found (cannot find link). How can I relink iphoto to the moved itunes files?

    Hello everyone :-)
I am Using Iphoto 09 ver 8.1.2 & itunes ver. 10.2.2 in this situation.
I have recently moved my iphoto library & Itunes library files to a large external hard drive.
I have successfully set the computer to read / run both libraries from the hard drive & they are working well as a stand alone. ( I Have done this before)
Unforntualey this time I foolishly moved some itunes album folders around from compulations / various artists into the main media file before checking into what the ramifications would be.
After searching on here I learned that was not advised as itunes would not be able to automaticly find them since I moved them.
In itunes clicked on some of the exclamtion marks of the songs that I moved & linked them up to the main media folder so they could be now found by itunes. I believe itunes asked to look there in that location for all missing files & I selected that option.
It appears to have worked as when I click on them in itunes they now play.. yeah!
But now I am finding that when I try to add certain songs for slideshows in iphoto & imovie that those moved songs cannot be found by those programs :-(
( I assume the same would be true for iDVD)
So my questions are... Is there now a way to have those other programs find the moved songs?
I do have a older backup of my itunes media & I can try & move the album folders back to the original place they where by comparing the two but it is a very large library of 40k songs... so I thought to ask the knowledge & wisdom of the community before I attempted any further fixes.
It would take a bit of time but it could be done & I don't want to just use the older copy of my itunes as I have made many additions of albums to the library & added allot of album artwork as well. (Stuff that "itunes" & "tune up" couldn't automatically find)
Thanks in advance for any advice on this silly mistake I made.
    Sal

Try the following:  delete the iPhoto preference file, <b><i><font color="maroon">com.apple.iPhoto.plist</font></i></b>, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
Also delete the com.apple.iApps.plist file from the same Preferences folder.  Then launch iTunes and then iPhoto.  See if that will restore the links.

  • Making a slideshow in iMovie

    I have iMovie 09.
Can someone please tell me how I can import stills (jpegs) so that I can make a slideshow which I can then burn to play on a DVD? I'll need to add a commentary soundtrack but I think I know how to do this if I can just get the photos imported. The individual slides / stills will probably need to run for different lengths of time between about 10 - 20 seconds.
Thanks in advance for any tips and advice.
    Rob

There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto, iMovie or iDVD and some limit the number of photos you can use (iDVD has a 99 chapter (slide) limitation).
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, place text exactly where you want it, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:
    http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
(Other users here use the alternative FotoMagico:  http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/homevspro/ which you may prefer - I have no experience with it.)
Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie  as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, including adding other video clips, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast,  for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!
To simply create a slide show in iDVD 7 onwards from images in iPhoto or stored in other places on your hard disk or a connected server, look here:

  • I am making a slideshow for my nieces graduation and I would like my photos to go in order of her life but I cant arrange the photos in the order I want them to be! HELP PLEASE! i need by this friday!

I cnat find out how to arrange them manually and them play throughtout the slideshow in that order! PLEASE!

I'm sure there are various ways to do this, but here's what I would do:
. Using whatever recording software you have e.g. MediaSource, you would need to connect a microphone to the soundcard and record the text you want to add to the CD.
    2. If you want, edit the text so that it contains all that you need. This depends on the final quality of the file and whether it's got mistakes in it etc. The soundcard you have might have some editing software with it, but if it doesn't you can download and install the excellent freeware http://audacity.sourceforge.net/.
    3. Then you need to compile the tracks on the CD for writing, so you would add each track to whatever CD software you use and add the text you've recorded as tracks before the relevant song.
I appreciate this is a bit general, but being specific is hard without knowing what software you have.

  • I am making a slideshow in iMovie and I added beat marks to my background music.  But before the music starts I want a silent 5 second title slide.

I first added a song to my project and added beat marks using the "tap M" feature where I want a beat mark.  Then I dragged in a number of still photos.  The photos look great.  Changing to the beat of the song.  But now I want to add a Title Text window at the very beginning, have it on the screen for about 4-5 seconds, and then start my slideshow to the music.  The problem is when I add that text window to the begining, the song wants to start there.  I want it to start on the first photo.  Can anyone help?

    Mikemass1221 wrote:
...  I don't think you can use this method if you drag a song to just one clip..
    sure you can:
but, your project's almost done - so, just 'push the audio aside':
#1: applied audio first, added M's, applied photos to markers..
#2 dragged some black in front = pushed photos aside
#3 dragged audio to match markers with edits back again ... ..

  • Making a slideshow - top of photos being cut off

I've been trying to make a slideshow with some of my photos being in Portait mode as against Panorama and when reviewing
my slide show the top of the photo is being cut off. This appears to be for only those that are in Portrai mode.
Does anyone know how I can overcome this annoying aspect?

Make sure the slideshow setting isn't set to scale photos to fill screen.
That will create black areas on each side of the portrait photos but will not cut off the top and bottom.
