Making a writable acrobat page

I have adobe acrobat proffessional 7.0. Does anyone know how
to save it so I can email it to someone and they can write on it? I
know that when I visit irs.gov and pull up the W-9 it allows me to
write in the fields and save it. I have a form that was created in
InDesign and was sent to me as a PDF. I want to be able to type
information into it and e-mail it to the appropriate party. Can
anyone help?

...hope there is some api to perform this action...No, there is nothing in core Java that will give you specific functionality such as this. But there are a million Java wiki's out there with the source freely available - it might help to look at a few implementations.

  • How to get rid of the little page window at the top right of an acrobat page

In the last 6 months or so, a little window image of the Acrobat page has started to appear in the top right corner of the page
This is a total menace as it can cover part of the text as per pic, and also covers the find tab. OK, you can x it off but I want to find a way to totally kill it. I cannot see any circumstance where the mini-window will be useful. Maybe it does have some useful functions, but I cannot think what they could be. I cannot imagine why Adobe would force this on us. Or maybe I have accidentally clicked something. HELP PLEASE

Thanks Sara - I have thought this might have something to do with it. But actually neither is selected (see below). Whatever is selected, it is difficult to see that the thumbnail can achieve any useful purpose! Any other ideas? It seems quite unpredictable in my system - the file I took a screenshot of to post above now has no thumbnail. While a file I opened this morning does. In my view it represents a bug in X as it only appeared after I had been using X for about 3 years, making me suspect it came in with an update. And there is no way to turn it off that I can find.

  • I checked do not track but when I reboot it's unchecked. I can't keep the main page MSNBC when I reboot after making it my start page. I asked to clear history on exit but when I reboot it back at never delete.

When I reboot after checking the box NOT to track it is unchecked. After making MSNBC my starting page and I reboot it goes back to Mozilla Firefox and another tab comes up with it Mozilla Firefox Start Page, how do I get rid of the second tab and keep MSNBC? I also selected to NEVER keep history to delete it when I exit and after rebooting it has keep history.
    Thanks,

    Try the following:
    close iWeb.
delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    reboot.
    launch iWeb and try again.
If that doesn't help continue with:
move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
    launch iWeb and try again.

  • Making forms writable using Designer (or Acrobat Professional)

    Hello,
I am trying to fill a PDF form created with Designer ES 9, with the pdftk utility and data contained in an xfdf file, but to no avail.
How do you make forms fillable in Designer?
When I open the form in Adobe Reader, it tells me that data can't be saved in it and that I can only fill it by hand and print it.
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
When you create a form in LC Designer you end up with an XFA Form in a PDF wrapper. Some viewers (like Apple Preview and others) either cannot display the form properly or will create problems when the form is opened again in Acrobat.
I would recommend that the form be opened in either Acrobat or the free Adobe Reader.
If the user has Reader then there are restrictions. For example the user can open the form, fill it in and print it. But they cannot save it. There is a solution called "Reader enabling" the form. You can do this in Acrobat v9 Standard (or Acrobat v8 Professional), but you are limited to 500 data processes for that form. Alternatively you can apply the Reader rights in a server product called LC Reader Extensions ES2. This has cost implications and you should contact the Adobe rep in your area.
    Here is a summary:

  • Making "Go to a Page View" the Default Link Action

Up until recently, it was quick and easy for me to add a "Go to a Page View" link to PDFs in Acrobat Pro. I highlighted the text I wanted to link, right-clicked on it, and then selected Create Link from the pop-up menu. At that point, the Create Link box would be displayed:
After clicking Next, the Create Go to View box would be displayed:
I would then scroll to the the page I wanted to link to, click Set Link, and then the process was complete. I don't know if I have inadvertently changed settings or if things are different in the most recent version of Acrobat Pro, but now I have to go through several more steps to do the same thing. Here's what I have to do now.
    1. Highlight and right-click on the text. Select Create Link from the pop-up menu. The Create Link box is displayed.
    2. Click Next. The Link Properties box is displayed.
    3. Click OK. The Link Properties box is displayed. Click on the Actions tab.
    4. Select Go to a Page View from the Select Action drop-down menu.
    5. Click Add. The Create Go to View box is displayed.
    6. Scroll to the appropriate page and click OK. The Link Properties box is displayed AGAIN.
    7. Click OK, and FINALLY the process is over.
I've looked online for an answer but can't find anything. I'm guessing that I'm just missing something small but as of yet it eludes me. I've tried messing around with the Locked check boxes, thinking that they may lock the settings, but to no avail. Can anyone help me get back to the much shorter process?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi tedbeam,
What happens when you select the Add or Edit Link tool on the Content Editing pane in the Tools panel? When you use that tool, you can drag a box around the text that you want to link, and the Link Action options should appear in the first dialog box that pops-up. Then you can change the view to the appropriate page, and click Set Link.
That should simplify the process a bit.
Please let us know how it goes.
    Best,
    Sara

  • Linking to a specific Acrobat page from an HTML document

    Hi –
I need to create links from a website to specific pages/locations within a PDF document which is hosted on our server. When I was creating PDFs with Acrobat 8 Professional, I would just create a link in the site HTML that had the page number at the end (like: <a href=http://www.website.com/document.pdf#page=6>, and it worked fine. We upgraded to Acrobat 9 last fall, and it seems that this particular trick no longer works. I’ve also tried creating destinations, but still no dice.
Any suggestions? I found one forum thread from last year that detailed a similar issue in Acrobat 9, but the issue was not resolved. Thanks.

    The simplest way:
in the HTML you expand the two occurences of "movie.swf" (in
the object and embed tag) to "movie.swf?jump=50", where "jump" is
the variable name and "50" is the frame somewhere in the middle of
your movie.swf that you want to start with.
In the first frame of movie.swf you have actionscript
    if(this._framesloaded<jump) {
    this.gotoAndPlay(1)}
    else {
    this.gotoAndPlay(jump)}
Of course, this doesn't check for error conditions and has
other weaknesses, but I hope you get the point.
    Good luck
    Wolf

  • Flash content is making my Adobe Acrobat X to crash (how to disable flash in the PDF documents?)

    Hello
I have Adobe Acrobat X, and I have a PDF document of around 700 pages. Inside, I have several pages I've downloaded from different websites, some of these pages have flash animations (I mean adverts with flash), when I click in a certain page of my PDF document that has a flash animation inside, booom it crash automatically.
How may I disable flash in my PDF documents?
    Thanks

Realistically you can't. Flash is enabled in the Acrobat X Family via embedded code, as it not only runs content within a PDF but also runs several elements of the user interface, such as the Share Pane.
If you know of a particular PDF file that is causing crashes, please submit it via a bug report.

    G'day
Unfortunately I don't have the API. My Adobe Reader installation updating to version XI failed, and subsequent attempts to fall back on the X version are blocked by the partial install of XI. Damn Adobe stuff.
Could someone please post the relevant part of the API to give me some pointers, please.
I ha mucked about with some information I found on the Web, and come up with the following, which fails because I can't work out how to address the current document with the variable myDoc.

  • Acrobat Page View Problems

    Hi all,
My Acrobat 8 documents are only opening in 2-page view even when I select single page-continuous view. It displays my two-page documents bizarely.
    Any clues?
Thanks a lot for your responses.

    Bill,
I checked the edit>preference option and noticed it was in automatic mode (which, commonsensically, should be single page continuous view). Same story under properties.
Now, bizarely, after staying away from my PC for about 4 hours, I have reopened the documents (without taking any action) and they now display properly,
I thank you much for your help, though.

  • Making a wiki-like page

i am working on my jsp project which involves making a wikipedia at a low level ...like a college, where any student/teacher can make a wiki page.
i think i can implement the wiki-logic through use of java only as a standalone application but it would be a tedoius job. hope there is some api to perform this action...

...hope there is some api to perform this action...No, there is nothing in core Java that will give you specific functionality such as this. But there are a million Java wiki's out there with the source freely available - it might help to look at a few implementations.

  • Making one of dashboard page default

    Hi Experts,
Im using OBIEE 10.1.3.3 wherein i have dashboard which contains 4 pages. When i login to this Dashboard i should see 2nd page as default instead of 1st page. I dont want to reorder them by going to dashboard properties and making 2nd page as my first page and first page as my second page. Without affecting the order of pages , i should default navigate to second page when i open my dashboard`. Please let me know if you have possible solution for this.
    Thanks

You might want to look up the use of the PORTALPATH system session variable. You can set it for each session.

  • Separate .css for Acrobat  page- .pdf conversion

    Hi and happy new year!
I want to apply different styles when the user generates a
.pdf file from the current page in IE (via IE Acrobat toolbar
--> Convert web page to PDF), because with my regular .css the
generated pdf's are ugly and have nothing in common with the way
    page looks in a browser.
    Is this somehow possible?
    Thanks

Have you tried changing the program that opens tif files by default to something else (like Photoshop or Paint) and rebooting?

  • Acrobat page display is clunky

I'm using Acrobat X and my PDFs print perfectly, but the page display is clunky. Fonts and rules look about twice as thick as they really are. This is not good when sending PDFs to clients as proofs. Also, at actual size or a couple of sizes up, any gradients show a line at the fade-out edge – a line that really isn't there.

    Hi,
Could you please check the option 'Enhance thin lines' it is checked or not?
    Edit-Preferences-Page Display-Enhance thin lines
If it is checked then uncheck it and check the behaviour.
Also, is it happening with all the documents?

  • How to display clear screenshots in PDF when default Acrobat page resolution is 110 ppi?

I want screenshots captured on my 96 ppi screen to display clearly in the PDF. But the Acrobat default page resolution display is configured to 110 ppi, not to the system setting of 96 ppi.
    1) Why is the Acrobat default display 110 ppi and not 96 ppi?
    2) If all Adobe Acrobat and Reader users open PDFs with the default Acrobat setting, how should screenshots taken on a 96 ppi screen be resized to display clearly?
    Thanks

The concept of matching pixels in a bitmap photo to the user's display doesn't exist in PDF. Pages have physical dimensions, not pixel values, so they will always end up being resampled.

  • Making the Webcenter ADF pages compatible with Mobile browser

    Hi,
I'm trying to make the already developed ADF pages compatible to Mobile Browser (like blackberry etc).
I have tried with the way what oracle ADF specification says like have to create a Fusion proj then have to add a new project into that and develope the mobile browser pages. In this way, it is working absolutely fine. But the problem is, i have already developed an application which uses lot of web center stuff and we have created so many pages in the application. Making this pages compatible to Mobile browser will take hell of effort.
Is there anyway that these pages can be made compatible to mobile browser (like blackberry etc).
Suggestions and Help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Mahipal
    Thanks,
    Mahipal

    Hi Wiebke,
You need to change the property Supported User Agents for all objects you need to access with MS Mobile IE. The procedure is the same as enabling your portal to be indexed by Web Search Engines for external facing portals, which is described here: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/44/ccf6bf687f3b9ae10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm.
This will technically allow all browsers to access the portal. Note that SAP does not support them, and especially in the case of mobile browsers, you may have issues regarding screen size and scripts (maybe fix this by creating a custom framework page+custom navigation iviews?).

    Johan
