I understood from your help file that synchronization is compatible only with IMAP mail provider

from yahoo help I managed to find configuration for IMAP , but could not apply them on TB , as TB have already Yahoo as POP in the configuration list

You cannot convert an existing account, but you can set up your Yahoo account as IMAP in parallel to the existing POP account. See

Action that turns layers into frames

I have an action I made that turns each layer of a PS document into a frame in a GIF animation. Trouble is, it's reliant on layers being named "Layer 1", "Layer 2" etc in order to work, and has a finite maximum number of layers/frames (which can be extended easily, but it's a little tedious). Is there an action, or a way to make an action that does this without relying on specific file naming? (The finite maximum issue is of secondary concern.)

JJ's suggestion should fix you up.
But, FYI, when making actions that require layer selection, select the layer with keyboard shortcuts rather than your mouse.
Alt+. (period) selects the top layer, without reference to layer name.
Alt+[ and Alt+] select the next layer down or up. Without reference to layer names.
The action will record layer names if you select them with your mouse.

How to change document dimensions and scale image proportionally?

Hi there,
I've created over a hundred files in Photoshop for placement in a book I'm making with software provided by the printer that uses templates of set sizes. My big mistake was to make all the files in Photoshop at A4 size (21cm X 29.7cm) whereas the template page size is 8 x 10 inches. (I know, really dumb on my part not to double-check this vital statistic!).
If I change the document dimensions via Image > Canvas Size, the images (which are all printed articles, not photos) are cropped, which is useless.
Rather than create 100 new files using the correct page setup dimensions, changing the image dimensions in the old file, copying and pasting it into the new (10" x 8") file, can anyone suggest a simpler way? I don't mind doing this manually, but ideally I'll be able to do it in the existing file rather than creating a new one.

Thank you very much for this. I am a novice at certain things in Photoshop and making actions is one of them. However, I will learn how to do it as I can see it will make my life easier.
I'm confused by one thing. The other answer to my question (see thread) says to turn Resample Image "off". You say to turn it on. Which is it? I didn't really understand the other advice or the terminology (e.g interpolate).

Block operations on the GUI when a clock-cursor is Displayed

Hello,
How is it possible to block the actions made on a JPanel / JTable / JFrame etc. ???
The scenario is an operation that is taking place and a clock-cursor is displayed. Ofcourse making the clock-cursor appear does not mean that the GUI is blocked, and actions can be performed with the new cursor image. How is it possible to prevent the user from making actions on certain SWING components ?

you can try setEnabled method of the Component class. The swing components inherit from this class. For instance, say you want to block actions on a button instance named pushButton. Then you'd would type: pushButton.setEnabled(false).
I haven't tried this yet.

Have a DEAD LINE MONITORING to that particular work item and then if it had reached make it Obsolete
from that approver by making ACTION as MODELLED and send that to another AGENT next to that
manager.
If Manager executes then it will not go to that particular Agent replaced by Manager..
And in this issue.. there is no need of Business object Delegation as the task is same...

503 Service Temporarily Unavailable at E-Trade

I can log on to my E-Trade web site thru Aol but not Firefox as of noon PDT today. I closed FF, retried, but get the same msg.,503 Service Temporarily Unavailable

It's weird I could get on thru Aol when they usually SUCK! Geez, if I didn't have my address book, favorite places, and all sorts of other stuff on there after 25 years, I would dump them since loading pages, making action buttons like Confirm, Next, Go, etc. don't work 1/3 of the time, and the rest of the time, pages load like molasses in January!

No error when Method Operation sets invalid precision in EO

I stumbled upon a very strange behavior (bug ?) reproduced in the following simple test case.
Studio Edition Version 11.1.2.3.0, Build JDEVADF_11.1.2.3.0_GENERIC_120914.0223.6276.1
Using HR with default VO & EO for the regions table, I create a client interface AM method where sets an invalid value to the RegionName attribute:

Debugging I see that an exception is raised in the setter of the attribute but it doesn’t bubble up till the (1) catch statement.
As you might guess the real case is a read only screen with buttons for making actions for the current record . I assumed that the EO validations should be honored in such scenario but I am wrong …
If you have any clue why this happens please share it with me!

I inserted the try/catch block for debugging, just to ensure that catch is never executed, that is the e.printStackTrace is not printed.
To be more clear I edited the above code.

Incredibly frustrated with iMovie 10's user hostile interface.

Most people just want to import video, cut it and share it. Yet sometimes it seems these are the hardest things.
I had a company digitize some VHS and mini DV tapes. So I have very large .MOV files on a hard drive. Each tape has maybe a half-dozen stretches of video I want to separate into new events. Can I pull up this hour long video and clip it at a point like a scissor and move it into an event folder? NO.
The bigger question. WHY NOT?
I attempt to select a length of video then. and drag that to a new event. NO. The entire tape's worth of video is moved. Undo, try again. NOPE. Same. Takes forever to scroll and get the part I want.
Can I zoom out to better navigate such a long piece of video? NO.
It's like the interface designer is a sadistic monster into torturing users.
Look, I realize (and sincerely hope) some of you will explain what's going on. But really, iMovie should be for beginners. The simplest things should be EASY TO DISCOVER AND ACCOMPLISH.

I have a user on an iMac 10.6 connected to our domain. She uses Outlook web access for email on our exchange server. Last week she received the following message which is randomly preventing her from sending emails. She claims no attachment was involved in the original email when this all started. I have not been able to look at her account as she is out of the office but maybe someone else dealt with this issue. I realize this may not be Mac related but thought I'd give it a try. She did say it occurred once over two days while working on a PC but it continued over the past weekend.
If an internal user tries to send a message with infected attachment using Outlook Web Access, it may report the following error message: The action could not be completed because of a conflict with the original item. The conflict may have occurred when an existing item was updated on another computer or device. Open the item again and try making your changes. If the problem continues, contact technical support for your organization.
This is because F-Secure Anti-Virus for Microsoft Exchange has detected a virus in the attachment. If the user tries to send the message again, the message will be sent but without the attachment. At the same time a blank message with an attachment named "Attachment_information.txt" will remain in the user's Drafts folder. The "Attachment_information.txt" will contain information about the virus detected in the message.

PS - have found other posts indicating that clips smaller than 2s or sometimes 5s, or "short files" can cause this. Modern style editing often uses short takes ! Good grief I cannot believe Apple. Well I deleted a half a dozen short sections and can export, but now of course the video is a ruined piiece of junk and I need to re-do the whole thing, the sound etc. which is basically taking as much time as the original. And each time I re-do it I risk again this lovely error -50 and again trying to figure out what thing bugs it via trial and error instead of a REASONABLE ERROR MESSAGE POINTING TO THE CLIP IT CAN'T PROCESS. What a mess. I HATE this iMovie application - full of BUGS BUGS BUGS which Apple will not fix obviously, since I had this product for a few years and see just hundreds of hits on Google about this error with disappointed users. Such junk I cannot believe I paid money for it and Apple does not support it with fixes !!!
If anyone knows of a GOOD reasonably priced video editing program NOT from APPLE I am still looking for suggestions. I want to do more video in future, but obviously NOT with iMovie !!!

Actions for making a video player

May I ask if anyone knows of an action to create a cool looking video player?
I have a product that includes a number of video tutorials and I want to be able to represent each tutorial with a cool looking video player with a thumbnail of the corresponding video.
This is similar to the idea of making an ebook cover out of an image...except instead of a book cover I want a video player and instead of an image I'll use a screen capture from each video.

In case you want to add, change, or rearrange any of your individual pieces, I would recommend encoding each as a separate sequence from FCP. Compressor will make it pretty easy to set up a whole batch export. These can be placed into a single track in DVDSP, which you can then make different playlists with stories, but as soon as you find the typo in the credits of the last 20-second short, You'll be very glad you don't have to encode the whole 2 hours again.

I've had the same problem, and sorted it using this:
Run the Boot Camp Assistant in OS X as normal and create a partition when asked, then insert your Windows 7 disc to reboot and begin the process proper.
Windows 7 requires the NTFS file system, so once in the installer just select your new partition (labelled BOOTCAMP), click on Drive options (Advanced) and choose to format it. Then select the newly formatted partition and continue.
Windows 7 will begin installing, and once it gets almost to the bottom of its checklist, it’ll try to reboot. Now, if you leave it here, you’ll get so far and see the black screen. Any further attempts to reboot will bring you to the same dead end.
Instead, restart and press a key to boot from the Windows 7 disc when prompted.
Rather than running the installation again, choose the little option at the bottom to Repair your computer. Decline any suggestions that pop up until you see a list of options with Command Prompt at the bottom. Choose that option.
At the Command Prompt, type DEL C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ATIKMDAG.SYS to delete the default ATI driver, then close the window and reboot.
This time, Windows should successfully initialise a more appropriate display driver, allowing you into the desktop. From here insert your OS X disc to install the relevant hardware drivers as you normally would, then run Windows update to clear up any leftovers.

Making a load of A4 scans of an A3 poster into an A3 image with batch action.

Hi again, I'm on CS4
I have a load of A3 art posters that I've needed to scan.
I've used an A4 scanner to scan 2 segments of the A3 posters making sure that segments are overlapping.
There are many posters.
Is there anyway I could go about making an automatic batch action and photoshop would automatically line the two scans up and join them together?
A step by step would be much appreciated.

I know, I always do that but I was in a rush to get somewhere and I was relying on my thousand dollar Mac to do some kind of recovery or something. I know Microsoft always keeps temporary files (I think Mac does too, part of me asking here in this forum was for someone to tell me where I can find those files) and when you go to open Office Works then it gives you the option of opening the last recent documents, saved or not saved.
I usually copy paste into my emial just in case something goes wrong with the created document but I just didn't have the time to login and do all that My loss, you live and you learn, BUT still if ANYONE got any info on this, PLEASE DO CHIME IN *keeping the hope alive*

CS5 making copy for each action and layer

I'm hoping someone might be able to tell me if maybe I have my settings wrong.
I run CS5 on my desktop (XP) and it works fine.
I just installed on my laptop (windos 7) and everytime I run an action or click in a part of the action to edit, it creates a new copy (background) of my photo. I tried looking for something to link the layers, but can't figure it out. It doesnt do this on my desktop and never has. I never had to change any settings so I'm not sure why I would have to now.

This is a stab in the dark because I have only needed two separate bass and treble when doing a piano part, whereas you want to make a 3rd part in the bass clef if I understand you correctly
I think you need to experiment with another Piano Score Style .. try Piano 1/3 + 4 from Score Styles and then open the Score Style Editor and add a third midi channel.
I'd be curious to hear how this works out, though there are guys on the Forum who can tell you exactly how to do this .. if they happen to see the thread and choose to reply
