Making Adobe as the default PDf reader

How can I make Adobe as a default pdf reader for windows phone 8?
Where does the Adobe reader store local files in wp8? Can I know its path in windows phone 8?

Maybe starting Acrobat 9 (NOT Distiller 9: this is an extra component
of Acrobat, and not involved in opening PDFs) will help. But overall,
mixing releases and Acrobat/Reader on the same computer isn't
recommended for this sort of reason.

• How can I change the default pdf reader from the installed (but not yet registered) Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro to Adobe Reader XI?

How can I change the default pdf reader from the installed (but not yet registered) Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro to Adobe Reader XI? I'm having some hiccups getting Adobe to register the software, but since I set it as the default .pdf reader during setup, things try (and fail) to open in the as yet unregistered software. How can I change it temporariiy to the Acrobat Reader XI that I have installed?

Anubha,
It worked! Thank you so much.
I'd opened file with the 'Open with' feature then clicking Adobe Reader,
but that didn't do it. When I used 'Open with', then 'Choose default
program...', it worked like a charm.
Again, thank you!

• How do I change the default PDF reader from Acrobat Pro to Preview?

Right now Acrobat Pro is set as the default PDF reader in my Safari 3. It's slow and wonky, which I think might be a 10.5 issue. Anyway I'd like to make Preview my default PDF reader for Safari but I can't find where to make this change.

Hi Harry
You may also have to remove the Adobe PDF plug-in(s) from your Internet Plug-ins folder. If so, create a new folder in the Library where the Internet Plug-ins folder is located, calling it Internet Plug-ins - disabled. Move the file(s) to there. This way, if you need to use Adobe again, it's as simple as moving the file back, then reselecting the option in the Adobe app.
After so, restart Safari and try a PDF.

• How do I make Preview the default PDF reader on Safari?

I reinstalled Adobe and somehow it has become the default PDF reader for Safari. I prefer to use Preview, but I can't figure out how to set it back to Preview.

... a 5-10 minute job.
in order to change the default PDF viewer in Safari from Adobee, you need to have root user access!
a bit tedious but really a easy task - see below:
How to enable the root user:
OS X Mavericks
From the Apple menu choose System Preferences....
From the View menu choose Users & Groups.
Click the lock and authenticate as an administrator account.
Click Login Options....
Click the "Edit..." or "Join..." button at the bottom right.
Click the "Open Directory Utility..." button.
Click the lock in the Directory Utility window.
Enter an administrator account name and password, then click OK.
Choose Enable Root User from the Edit menu.
come up with a password you wish to use in both the Password and Verify fields, then click OK. (you don't have to remember it forever)
then, log out as yourself and log back in as the root user...
at the login screen, the username will be root, and the password will be the one just made up in Step 10 above.
don't set up with icloud or anything - just cancel any popups that ask for keychain or whatever...just get to the desktop screen and then, from the menu bar at the top of the desktop screen...choose the Go menu....now hold down the option key and another choice on the menu (for the library) should show up...
choose library.
in the search bar at the top right of the finder window for the library folder, type kind:plugin.... the two plugins should show up. be sure the search is searching the library folder.
after you have trashed the two adobe pdfviewer plugins, empty the trash and log out as the root user ...
now, disable root user:
to disable the root user
OS X Lion and Mavericks
From the Apple menu choose System Preferences....
From the View menu choose Users & Groups.
Click on the lock and authenticate with an administrator account.
Click Login Options....
Click the "Edit..." or "Join..." button at the bottom right
Click the "Open Directory Utility..." button.
Click the lock in the Directory Utility window.
Enter an administrator account name and password, then click OK.
Choose Disable Root User from the Edit menu.
...sorry this explanation is a bit slapdash... hope you've had success... hit me off with a point if it helps!

• Making Adobe CMM the Default In WinXP

I'd like to make the Adobe CMM the default color engine for WinXP apps. I have installed it and can see the Adobe CMM in the Windoze Color Control applet, but cannot figure out how to make it the default. I've Googled the net and searched the Micro$oft website to no avail. Can this be done? How?
Thanks much!

Hello Sid,
unfortunately this is not possible.
Theoretically, it is possible to use an alternate CMM as the default CMM
in Windows by editing the Registry for example.
But the alternate CMM must have implemented all functions Microsoft
expects, and the Adobe CMM hasn't. (To be fair, the functions not
implemented are used very rare, and play no role in "everyday" colormanagement
done in apps like Photoshop)

• How do I do to register Adobe acrobat as the default pdf-reader in Firefox

I musthave that when I need do download documents

When you download a PDF, Firefox should hand the question of how to open it off to the Android OS. If you are having a problem using Adobe when you access the download (either from Firefox's Downloads list, or the system Downloads folder, or the notifications on the top bar), you may need to clear the defaults from the application that is opening the PDF. This should give you back your choice the next time.

• Making Preview the default pdf reader

For some reason, some pdf files try to open with Safari as the default reader. The only way I can use Preview in this instance is to save the file, then I get an option to open with preview.
How do I make Preview the default reader for pdf files?

the Change All option is greyed out.Sounds like you don't have the proper permissions. Under "Ownership & Permissions,be sure you can "Read & Write and under "Details" that you are the owner. Group is Staff and Others can read only.
If this is correct, then try toggling the "Open with" to another app and then back again to see if "Change All" will become active.
Also, it wouldn't hurt to run "Repair Permissions" in Utilities/Disk Utility.

• Select the default PDF reader in IE8

Afternoon,
One of my users has Acrobat 9 Pro (as part of the CS suite) as well as Adobe 5.0. When she opens a PDF from a file location, version 9 is the default program. However, when she opens up a PDF from IE8, Adobe 5.0 is the default. How do I change this from 5.0 to 9?
I've looked around both IE8 and Acrobat 9 settings but I have not found the right setting.
Thanks in advance,
Brian

• Acrobat 9 keeps changing itself to be the default PDF reader

Hello all,
I have CS4 installed including Acrobat Pro. I prefer to use Foxit reader as my default for reading PDF files. However, when I change the default program for PDF files to be Foxit, Acrobat changes it back to itself. I am running Windows 7 Pro 32-bit. How do I tell Acrobat to stop changing the default program? Thanks.

Just wondering if there is anyone who can at least point me in the right direction to find the answer to this.

• Where on Windows hard drive does Firefox temporarily store PDF files that I open from websites when I have Adobe Reader configured as the default PDF reader?

I have Windows 7 and Firefox 19.0.2. I see that every time I open a PDF file from a website, it prompts me to either save the file or open it with a program (defaults to Adobe Acrobat Reader). If it is the same file name that I keep opening up over and over, it appends an incremental number to the end of the file name. To me this implies that it is download the file to a temporary location and then opening it in Adobe Reader. Where is Firefox storing these files and how can I be sure that they are being deleted regularly? I don't want these files to be kept on my local hard drive after I close the file in Adobe Acrobat.

Files that you choose to open with an external program are saved in your temporary folder. To open it, click the Windows logo orb on the taskbar, type '''%TEMP%''' in the search box, then press Enter.
You can clean out temporary files in Windows using the Disk Cleanup utility. The program can also be scheduled to perform cleaning tasks automatically without prompting.

That shouldn't be happening. If you try to download a file that's already in your temporary folder, it should simply open instead of being downloaded again.
I don't know what could be causing it though. First, try upgrading to the latest version of Firefox. If nothing else, your system will no longer be vulnerable to the security holes in the version you're using.

• How to make iBooks as the default PDF reader

Hi,
I have both iBooks and Adobe Acrobat reader installed on my Mac running Mavericks. I'd like to use the sync feature, since I have a lot of PDF and Epub files on my iPad. I read PDF files on my iPad using iBooks without any problem. I added my PDF files to iBooks on my Mac but when I want to read them, the file opens up in Adobe Acrobat reader. I want to read it in iBooks so my books and bookmarks are synced with my iPad.
How can I make PDF files in my iBooks liberary to open only in iBooks and not Acrobat Reader? Any suggestions ?
Thank you.

Sadly it doesn't appear that iBooks in Mavericks actually can read PDF as on my machine it opens with Preview.
I have no idea if this is by design or what but at least with Preview the annotations actually do get synchronised but I'm not sure about Acrobat Reader.

• Setting Adobe Reader 9 as default PDF reader for IE7

Hi,
I made the mistake of installing Foxit Reader on my new PC and am trying to stop Internet Explorer 7 from using it as the default pdf reader instead of Adobe Reader 9.
By re-installing Adobe Reader 9 the problem with Windows Explorer using it was solved but Internet Explorer still keeps trying to open PDF files using Foxit Reader.
When installing the Foxit Suite the installation was not 100% successfull on Windows Vista 64 bit with the Uninstall.exe file not being created and the program not being listed under add/remove programs.
Does anyone know how to set Adobe Reader 9 as the default PDF reader used by Internet Explorer 7.
Thanks for any advice.

Try repairing / reinstalling the latest version of Adobe 8 / 9 , if this doesn't solve your problem you need to edit the default adobe reader setting in the registry.
For information on the Windows Registry Editor, see the documentation for Windows or contact Microsoft Technical Support.
Go to Start > Run
Type regedit and click OK.
Browse to the key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Adobe\Acrobat\Exe.
Make sure that the (Default) value is set for the path where Acrobat or Reader is installed.
The default path for Reader is "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe".
The default path for Acrobat is "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe".

• How can I/Can I make Firefox the default .PDF viewer in Windows 7?

For the basic PDF viewing I do, Adobe Reader is just slow and annoying. I love using Firefox, but unfortunately I cannot set it as the default program to open PDF files. Even when I select Firefox after right clicking and select open with, Windows does not comply. Is there a config option I can change that will allow me to set Firefox as the default PDF reader.
Thank you for your help.

You can not make Firefox the default for viewing PDF files for the entire Windows Operating System, only the default viewer from within Firefox. Like when PDF files that are downloaded from websites and displayed in Firefox; you can try using '''File > Open File''' from within Firefox to view PDF file that are already saved on that PC, but I'm not sure that will work - I haven't tried doing that.
