Making Adobe PDF with From Field Non-Savable
Hello,
I'm using Adobe Acrobat Professional ver 9 and have created an accessible course certificate form with a fillable field. The user brings up the certificate, types their name in the field, and prints the certificate. When they do this, the form gets updated with their name even if they didn't save it. So the next person that brings up the form sees the previous persons name.
Is there a way to have the user type their name in the field, print the certificate, and not have the name saved in the field? I'd like it if every time someone brings up the certificate that it's a fresh copy.

This form, a course completion certificate, is on an intranet and I'm not able to post a link. If a person types their name in the text form field and chooses "Save" the form is saved with their name. If the user chooses "Save As" it works as expected. The user can save a copy of the form somewhere else and the original is not changed.
Is there a way to "disable" Save so the original cannot be changed?

Print to Adobe PDF printer from IE 7 crashes computer
I apologize if this has already been answered somewhere in this forum, but I could not find mention of it....I have several users inside my company and out that are having issue with printing to the Adobe PDF printer from a webpage viewed in IE 7...the computer inevitably locks up and requires a restart. It seems to vary based on the version of Acrobat or Reader they have installed, but am wondering if anyone knows of the cause and resolution? It would seem to be a battle of Microsoft Operating System versus Adobe. Most users are on Windows XP Professional, using Adobe Acrobat and Reader 8 or better. Those with 6 do not appear to have issue.
Have been circling around this problem for a month now....any help much appreciated!I think it's time to upgrade. 64-bit systems weren't much in use at the time of Acrobat 8.0.

Indesign book files making a PDF with spreads????
Hi, I am working with a book file but need to make a digital PDF with spreads. So the problem is obviously that I start with a right single page and finish with a left single page in each chapter which doesn't make a spread. Is there a way around this? (apart from copy and pasting the single pages at each beginning and ending together as spreads into an empty document and replacing these pages in the PDF)

When you make the pdf of the book from the book panel.
Create a new document call it filenamespreads or something.
Get the PDFplacer.jsx script http://indesignsecrets.com/placing-all-the-pages-of-a-pdf-inside-indesign.php
Run a few pages to get the position right, then do the whole book.
Export to pdf as spreads.
It sounds longwinded but it isn't.

This is the closest answer to solving my problem.
To clarify, the reason I need spreads is NOT for final printing. Its for sending a reader proof to a client to send to someone for review. They need to see it as spreads to get a "feel" for the book. I feel like it should be possible to do this, easily, without too much stress in InDesign.
I am going to try your solution but I am a newbie about using scripts in InDesign. Never done it before. I placed the script in the scripts folder and re-launched InDesign, but how do I launch the script?

Making a PDF with "Outline" and Bookmarks Using Pages
Hi, I'm using Pages 1 and I have tried making a PDF with outline breaks but I failed. I thought using paragraph styles for my document would work but when I exported my document to PDF, all I got was a PDF that only has the thumbnails view but not the outline view. Also, when I exported my document that has bookmarks to PDF, all the bookmarks don't work anymore. How can I make a PDF document using Pages with all the bookmarks and the organization just like other PDFs that I encounter? Thanks

welcome to the Pages Discussions. If I remember correct, in Pages 1.x there is no way to export text links to PDF. An outline view creation doesn't exist.
If you want to have links in PDF (of the TOC, too), then you should upgrade to iWork'06. But outline view doesn't exist here like it doesn't in version 1.x. -

Accidently deleted the Adobe PDF printer from the Printer List

I have accidently deleted the 'Adobe PDF printer' from the Printer List and am now unable to print any files to PDF from any application.
Any ideas of how to get it back?

Welcome to Discussions.
1. In Applications/Utilities/Printer Setup Utility, select Add printer and reinstall it.
2. If you can't find this file, reinstall Adobe Acrobat and that should put it back again for you.

We have been working for some time with LiveCycle to creat a documents and have experienced a host of problems with the end product.
1. Images inserted into the LiveCycle PDF document often come up as "broken links" after editing the document and resaving it.
2. Documents will not display in Acrobat reader unless a digital signature is applied to them and the document is re-saved.
3. After making the document, we are unable to use Adobe Pro to insert pages, delete pages, or insert files into the document as attachments.
The end state was to use the simplicity of LiveCycle to create a document and do most of the hard work, and then save it as a PDF document that could be easily edited with Adobe Pro. It has proven difficult, to say the least, to figure out how to make this work.

2- It only seems rational that if I make a form with LiveCycle that I should be able to view it with Adobe Reader or Adobe Pro.
Making a form with LiveCycle to be distrubuted to personnel internally that have Adobe Reader and Adobe Pro and cannot open it without it having a digital signature field in it that has just recently been signed just doesn't make sense. Nor does it seem to make sense to have to purchase 200 additional licenses just for LiveCycle so that people can open a PDF that was made with LiveCycle. If I make it in LiveCycle and only people with LiveCycle can open it, what is the purpose of making it to begin with?
3- This also totally sucks. In a standard Adobe Doc I can at least attach documents to it?
So, what, exactly then, is the purpose of LiveCycle if the only benefit it seems to provide is ease of creation, but the end product has way less functionality?
And how do I go about contacting an Adobe rep on the phone in regards to this without getting "there is no support for this product, go to Adobe.com"
We have millions of dollars of Adobe software and can't get support other than hunting and pecking in these forums? Really? -

Please note Firefox is crashing every time I tried to open a pdf document I find in any internet webside. This is happening since I have installed Firefox 6.0.2. I temporarily solved the issue going back to Firefox 5. The problem is that my Mac installs automatically all the updates that might come from Firefox, including new or greater versions.... So, here I am again with Firefox 6.0.2 and not able to open Adobe pdf documents.....
Would you please kindly assist to fix this issue...? Please note I have systematically sent a report every time Firefox has crashed, so you might have quite a few by now!

Web2pdf continues to prevent me from making Adobe PDFs even after uninstalling web2pdf
On FireFox's sync site, it endorses web2pdf. It doesn't work and it prevents my making PDFs with Adobe.
So I got rid of web2pdf by closing out the add-on. That uninstalled the add-on, but I still can't print out any pdfs. I removed Shockwave Flash 11.5 r502, couldn't find Shockwave Flash 9.0 r45, and didn't understand the Mozilla page on plug-ins.
"Adobe PDF Properties" tells me my PDF printer is working properly, but when I attempt to print a PDF, I get a pop-up window that informs me of an "error printing PDF." If I try again, the popup window tells me that my "Adobe PDF" is in "error status" until I remove the queued document.
I never had this problem before I downloaded print 2pdf, and now that I've uninstalled it, the problem remains.
How do I regain my Adobe PDF function? Any steps I can take to set my system back to its original operational state? Would reloading my Adobe CS3 solve the problem? Is there anything I should/can do before I resort to that (a very timely process)? My OS is Win8.Locking duplicate thread.<br>

I am having trouble with my attached PDF fill-able form, I am creating a form that has a limit of one page so in order for more room in a certain field I have added a Hyperlink to an additional fill-able(secondary) form within the Parent document (primary fill-able form. The secondary form is inserted as an attachment into the Primary form. My problem is when I open this document up in Adobe Reader, the Primary fill-able form is savable but the attached Secondary form for which the hyperlink leads to is non-savable and is a must print only. Is there a way to make the Secondary form savable as well within the same document? or is there another way I could execute what it is I am trying to achieve?
I have tried to save the attachment as extended but that has not worked and also if done before inserting than the return hyperlink to the parent document will not connect because editing in not allowed.

Before Reader 11, you could prevent Reader users from saving by not Reader-enabling the form, but users with Acrobat, Reader for iOS, and some non-Adobe PDF viewers could fill-in and save. Reader 11 now allows filled-in forms to be saved even if the document does not include usage rights.

How do I print to "Adobe PDF" with an encrypted pdf?
I've created a form in livecycle and I want the security to be set up as such:
1) A password is required to edit the form in LiveCycle AND
2) People can print the pdf to "Adobe PDF"
I've been able to create livecycle password access, but when I put a password on the LiveCycle Access (currently: Printing Allowed: High resolution, Changes Allowed: Filling in form fields and signing existing signature fields), I get this error when I try to print it to PDF:

How can I edit my form so I can do both.It´s quite some time I was solving this.. but as I already wrote and I can somehow remember(as far I´m not working on this platform for 3 years): printing 150dpi is one thing - it´s printing like a simple pic. Printing in hi-res works in completely different way - pdf must be redistilled with pdf distiller or how it was called. Means, there must be additional step before printing the pdf form. Cant remember the details.

Bursting PDF with editable fields
I have been successful in generating PDF output from a PDF template that contains editable fields. When I open the PDF using Adobe Professional, everthing functions as normal. However, when I burst the PDFs the final output PDFs are no longer editable. They contain the correct data, but everything is locked down. Has anyone attempted this with success? If so, can you point me to some possible pitfalls? I'd hate to have to run a single request for each output.

JamieVery easy to create. I have not been able to get them to burst with editable fields. Please note that it is not editable with Adobe Reader, unless it is first extended with Adobe Professional or Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions. Depending on your config settings you may have to make some changes to allow the fields to remain editable.

Cannot print to Adobe PDF printer from Word after upgrading to Win 7 64bit
Hi. After upgrading my operating system from Windows XP to Windows 7 64 bit, I can no longer print to the Adobe PDF printer (e.g. from Word). It just sits in the Adobe PDF printer queue saying "Error" without bringing up the "Save As" dialog box, and nothing happens. I am running Adobe Acrobat 8.0.0 (I've checked for updates but it says none are available). I have tried doing a repair installation following the instructions on this website (http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-file-adobepdf-dll-needed.html) but to no avail.

Adobe PDF missing from printer list in all cs4

I have cs4 and have noticed in illustrator and photoshop that adobe PDF has suddenly disappeared from my drop down list when I go to print.
Any help much appreciated!I used to lose the printer in my vista regularly, but it always came back with a restart. The repair does help. I have not had the problem in quite a while. Glad the repair worked for you.
