Making comments permanent

I'm trying to sign some pdf documents with my tablet. I'm using the pen tool in acrobat, signing it, saving and then when it opens it preview the signature is not visible. Because what I did I guess was just adding a comment. How can I write on top of a pdf document and make it permanent/not a "comment"?.

It depends upon how you entered the comments. Some comments will be
preserved if you flatten the pdf. For example, if you enter comments
with the textbox tool these will be preserved. If you use the Sticky
Notes they will not be. If you use the typewritter tool to enter
comments, then this will be preserved when flattened.

  • Unable to make Acrobat 8 (Professional) comments permanent

I have made  several comments on an Acrobat PDF. Now I would like tell Acrobat 8 to save the file including making all the comments permanent, i.e. showing no comments but with the comments as part of the original document. Is this possible? I'm running Acrobat Professional on a Macintosh.

  • How do I remove time modified when making comments on a pdf?

I am copy editing a pdf in Adobe Reader. I track my changes using the Comment feature, but my list of changes includes the time that I made these changes. I would like to send a flat-rate bill for this job and not an hourly bill, so I don't want them to see the times that I made each change. How can I disable this? I still want the client to be able to see each change I'm suggesting, I just don't want them to know when I made it.

If you just have the two accounts, you can move Safari into the account you want to have access. Of course, if the other account has administrator access, there isn't much you can do to prevent them from making a copy or moving it back. Any user with administrator access can get root permissions to do just about anything, so trying to implement some kind of restrictions isn't really going to work - what exactly is it you are you trying to do?

  • Won't keep themes, won't display comments in newspapers or allow making comments in newspapers

My theme is gone. Page has white and yellow background with blue lettering. Re-installing the theme doesn't help, Also, when I'm reading newspapers; cannot make comments on articles, sometimes will not even show that there are comments on article I'm reading.

Does the ext directory have the php_oci8.dll? In the original steps the PHP dir is renamed. In the given php.in the extension_dir looks like it has been updated correctly. Since PHP distributes php_oci8.dll by default I reckon there would be a very good chance that the problem was somewhere else. Since this is an old thread I don't think we'll get much value from speculation.

  • Application crashes when making Comments in Acrobat Pro XI

I'm using Acrobat Pro XI on an iMAC... I'm trying to make 'comments' to a pdf file I have created, but every time I type in the 'comment box' the application crashes. Is anyone else having the same problem, if so, have you been able to find a work around?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What you may remember, and what is still in Acrobat Pro XI, is the ability to align form fields when in form editing mode.
However, the new text editing features allow some degree of alignment. There is no align tool, nor an align command.
If you're trying to align the baselines of text, I'd first show the rulers (View > Show/Hide > Rules & Grids > Rulers) and draw a guide from the ruler to the baseline of the first text frame. Then as you're moving a frame (and it can be tricky when the frames are small), you want the Move cursor (looks like the Move tool in Photoshop). If you do that you should see green alignment "smart guides" appear as you drag. Finally, while still in that mode, you can tweak the position of a text frame by using the arrow keys on your keyboard to move in approximately 1 point increments.
I would also appreciate the ability to align like in a layout program like InDesign, but they haven't yet included it.

  • BPM 11g - Making comments visible to all interactive activities in process

Does anyone know of a way to make comments from one interactive activity visible in a subsequent interactive activity within the same process?
We need this visibility since there are multiple human tasks in the process and the comments are relevant to the instance as a whole as it travels through the process.
I've attempted to create a process data object of type "TaskExecutionData" and use that to map the comments in and out of the data associations for the interactive activities, but ran into bpel faults. The first attempt just used simple data association mappings for the execData.userComment collection (array) - but that results in assignment errors at runtime if there are no comments present. Having seen these errors before and having resolved them using a XSL transformation, I tried that route as well to map the userComment collection using a for-each construct - however that attempt resulted in a different bpel fault at runtime referring to duplicate definitions of the same type or something to that effect.
    Any ideas?

Yes, but this is in version 11g, not 10g or 6. The human tasks use the ADF task flows, as is standard practice in 11g.
I've attempted mapping the userComment array from the task's execData to process variables, but that effort resulted in bpel faults at runtime.
I managed a roundabout way (i.e. a hack) to get the comments into the new task from the previous one using the human workflow services API in a managed bean of the task flow, but I'm having difficulty getting the comment iterator of the data control to update and pull in the comments.

  • Making comments more visible on a print out

I like how Dreamweaver highlights my comments in yellow
when you are looking at it on the computer. Is there a
"preference" I can set that does the same when I print out the
    code?
It would make it much easier to find a particular piece of
code if the preceding comment/documentation were highlighted on a
    printout.
    Thanks in advance.

To check image resolution and lots more info use Acrobat Pro preflight feature.
There's a few options in Acrobat to deal with your hyperlink question, you can use a text tool to change the colou of the text or indeed add an underline.
It may be that the hyperlinks in your PDF are being automatically recognized as such by acrobat/reader.
(to check go to edit>preferences>general, create links from URLs)
in that case whenprinting the doc, the links don't have actual print info to print.
Or the link is an actual link but has been set to an invisble border to be used, you could change the properties of the link using the link too, to hnage the border to an underline for example.
If unsure, share a sample pdf somewhere, so we can have a look.

  • Making comments mandatory for only some roles when approving CUP requests.

Does anyone know if there is a way to make Comments required in CUP requests when approving a request for just certain roles?  We don't want comments to always be required, just if you are approving a request for Role XXX for example.
I tried using the Comments Mandatory setting that is available on the Role Details screen (along with the associated flags on the Roles/Role Selection screen), but this only seems to require a 'request reason' for the role when the request is being built.  It doesn't require comments when the request is being approved.  (There also appears to be a bug with this because this request reason doesn't show up anywhere in the request after it is built.)
I know you can set the Comments Mandatory on for the workflow stage, but then you have to enter a comment for every request, regardless of the roles.  We are wanting them to required only for a few specific roles.
We are on GRC 5.3 11.2.
    Thanks.

    Hi Bob,
It is not possible to enable the comment option only for few roles. Either it can be on for all, or off.

  • I recently upgraded to Lion and my 2004 Microsoft Office no longer functions.  So all of my word docs are unreadable with the Lion system.  If I buy pages, will they be converted?  Also, I used Microsoft Word for editing docs, making comments and tracking

I need help.  All of my word docs from Microsoft word 2004 cannot be read in Lion.  I can't believe I'll have to pay for a Word upgrade.  Is it worth it?  Is pages as good?  Will all of my docs be recognized once I upgrade to the current word or Pages?  I tried Open Office, but that doesn't synch all of the previous Word docs, it needs to be done one doc at a time.

It would have been nice to know this before buying a $29 upgrade to Lion. Which now will add a necessary $150 upgrade. Some people may have waited to upgrade to Lion had they known this.
The fact that Lion is unable to run PowerPC only applications is publicized for months.

I am trying to cut holes permanently out of an solid oblong and although I have made a compound path I need to make this permanent please can you help?

    yikes,

As long as you keep it as a Compound Path in Illy, it will be editable (the same applies to a Compound Shape). I can think of a few silly and destructive ways of making it permanent.

  • Shared review requirements - comments disappearing

    Hi,
Is there a version requirements for making comments in a shared review .pdf?
We have been having problems with some of our co-workers, who work off site and using a VPN connection
deleting comments....they were working with version 8, and we were working with version 9.
The person working off-site also keeps not being able to publish comments in the shared .pdf
with the VPN connection.  What should someone do if they can't publish the comments they made in the .PDF
If the comments get deleted accidentily...is there anyway to retrieve them.
We are hosting the shared .pdf on our internal server, not on acrobat.com
    Any possible reasons for this?
    Thanks!

We too have this issue.   I have found that cleaning
out your resource files on your C-Drive
will help reload the comments that have been previously saved to the server.
This is a somewhat complicated process but it has proven itself useful.
It is a two step process:
Step 1- Open your review tracker and select the server which probably has a "red ball" next to it, denoted that you are currently not connected to the server.  You should then see all the documents that have been sent for shared review and a Trash Can on the far left.  You will need to delete the document that you have lost the comments for.
Step 2- This is a longer process but it works.  You will need to access your C-drive on the computer-->  Select the User folder --> Your name folder "John.Doe" --> AppData--> Roaming --> Adobe--> Acrobat--> 8.0 or whatever version you might be operating --> Synchronizer --> Resources.
At this point you will now see several files that are labeled Resources.   Select all of these and then delete.
You should now be able to open the original document from your desktop and connect to the server and see the previously published comments on the server.
    I hope this helps!

  • When copying a comment between 2 documents, the comment comes in sideways and Acrobat freezes up.

Using Acrobat X Pro 10.1.4, Win XP Pro.
If I have two documents open, and am making comments in each, and try to copy-paste a comment from one document to the other, the comment comes in sideways and/or Acrobat freezes up requiring a forced close via Task Manager.
Is there a way to fix this without just re-entering or re-typing the comment text/re-drawing the markups in the second document?

That usually means the pages in one of the documents have a rotation applied (e.g. if the screen appears to show a landscape page, it's actually a portrait page with a 90-degree rotation setting). Comments inherit the rotations of the page they were first placed on, and aside from undoing the rotations before commenting, it's not a simple thing to fix.
That doesn't explain why Acrobat is crashing - if possible please submit any crash reports to Microsoft, and if it's repeatable please log a bug report at http://www.adobe.com/go/wish
