Making Dell MFP 1600n work with my MacBook Air

I have a MacBook Air and a Dell MFP 1600n printer that doesn't come with a Mac OS driver. Generic printer drivers nor PLC printer drivers can get this printer to work. Neither the Xerox PE120/120i driver does the trick. Is there anyone that can help me with this? Thanks very much!

AFAIK, there are no print drivers that are compatible with OSX Lion for that printer or its Xerox counterpart.  You'll probably have to ditch it and get another printer.

As you quote the price in 'Pounds' I'm assuming you are in the UK!
You might want to consider one of these from Amazon.  I have one on my MBA and it works well.

Does air play work with my macbook Air?

Hard to say without knowing the model. You can go to About This Mac - more info to verify. It needs to be mid 2011 or later.

My airplay mirroring won't work with my macbook air, eventhoug my internet connection is very fast. The image will appear after 5 seconds.

Mirroring is done over the local network so internet speed isn't relevant.
I would check istumbler.net to see if there is any interference

  • Does wireless Key board Model # A1016 work with the Macbook air?

I have an old Apple wirless key board Model # A1016, I am trying to pair it with my Macbook air. Doesn't seem to be working, does anyone know if it is even compatible or not?

My understanding is that the BWI uses an 802.11b wireless standard that is perfectly compatible with the built-in reception that the MBA has.
Is there anything that would lead you to doubt the compatibility?

  • Does the Apple Snow Leopard install USB work with any macbook air?

    Hi guys and girls,
Im changing the hard drive in my MBA 2008 A1237 from the 80GB HDD to the 64GB SSD. Ive seen a Snow Leopard install usb on ebay for £15 so ive brought it.... but I was wondering if it would actuly work with my particular Air?
As my perivouse exspriance tells me that some install DVDs are tied to cirent products such as my iMac install dvd wont work on my Macbook..
    Thanks
    Firky

The OS X Lion Thumb Drive isn't being sold by Apple, so you need Snow Leopard. Buy Snow Leopard from Apple and use the USB SuperDrive to do it. Then, open Apple menu > Software Update and install the most recent version. If you don't want to spend more money, stay in Snow Leopard, but if you want Lion, call Apple to purchase Lion > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57

  • I have a wired keyboard which won't work with my MacBook Air unless I use the extension cable supplied with the apple keyboard. Is this normal or have I got a connection problem?

I Have an apple wired keyboard which suddenly won't work unless I use the apple ext cable supplied with the keyboard...used with the wire fixed into the keyboard it just won't respond.  Do u think the keyboard is faulty. ? I want to use it with my MacBook Air and a big screen.

My best guess is that either there's a small deformation of the USB plug of your keyboard or some foreign matter (like lint) inside the keyboard plug. When I was setting up my new lab last year I had to use the extension cables and I found that the female end of the extension cable was considerably tighter than the computer's USB port. If an Apple store is nearby it would be worth taking the computer, keyboard, and extension just for piece of mind.

  • How do I make my old printer work with my MacBook Air?

I have a new MacBook Air and I can not seem to get my old HP Officejet T65 printer to work with it. It worked perfectly with my old PC but although my mac recognises the printer it does not show all of the printer options and is only printing in black and white. It is also saying that the printer is "offline" or that the printer USB is not connected when it is. I know I should probably just get a new printer but would like to use my old one in the meantime. The HP online help I could find only offered printer updates or help for windows. Any suggestions on how to make it work with my mac?

It may not make you feel any better but you would likely have the same or worse problem with a newer Windows PC computer and that printer. HP hasn't offered Windows drivers for it since Windows XP days (i.e., no support for Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8).

  • Does the Apple USB Ethernet Adapter work with a MacBook Air that's been updated to Lion?

I saw a comment at the online Apple store that the USB Ethernet Adapter didn't work with Lion. Anyone else have experience with the adapter?

Just point the tech rep to the apple website that lists the Ethernet to USB system requirements as:
    "Overview
The Apple USB Ethernet Adapter is a simple, one-piece external adapter that plugs into the USB 2.0 port of your MacBook Air to provide 10/100BASE-T performance. Simply plug your Ethernet cable into the RJ-45 connector — no external power is required. It’s small, light, easy to install, and even easier to use.

  • Samsung SyncMaster P2770HD doesn't want to work with new MacBook Air

I have a (pre-unibody) MacBook Pro and a Samsung SyncMaster P2770HD. I just picked up a MacBook Air with a MiniDisplay Port to DVI adapter. The monitor works fine with my older Pro but when I connect using the adapter to my Air, the monitor doesn't work. The monitor momentarily lights up and complains that it's not receiving a signal.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!
    Dan

Hello there - did you end up ever solving this one?
I have a 13" MacBook Air (2011), using a mini display port to HDMI with a P2770HD, and I just cannot get the air to detect the display, or vice versa.

  • Personal Hotspot not working with my MacBook Air

    Hi Community
So I have an iPhone 6 and a MacBook Air (Mid2013), who both meet the requirements for the new personal Hotspot in iOS8.
I connected the 2 devices and it worked for some time. I could activate the personal hotspot without even touching the phone. I was very happy, but suddenly it stopped working, although I didn't install a new update on any of the two devices (both are still up to date). At some point, I had to turn the hotspot on manually to get it working, but now, the only way to connect to my hotspot, is to start diagnostics and connect trough that window.
The bluetooth connection works without a problem& my iPhone hotspot works perfectly with my iPad 3.
I tried everything, someone wrote on a website that the iCloud might me the problem, so I disconnected both devices from iCloud and reconnected afterwards. It worked exactly once after that. Then, my MacBook kept saying that the personal hotspot could not be activated (even if I activated the hotspot manually).
Thanks for every kind of help, I'm super frustrated

    Hey TjAmmann,
I see that you are having some issues with connecting to your Personal Hotspot on you iPhone 6. I see that you have also started troubleshooting the issue, and in order to help you with that, I would like to suggest that you use the troubleshooting steps found in the following article to help you:

  • Magic mouse doesnt work with new macbook air

    Hey guys,
Just bought the magic mouse and it pairs just fine to my new 13" macbook air. But it only moves around and clicks and nothing else. Does not scroll or do any multitouch functions. I have checked all software is up to date and all settings are correct.
    Thanks in advance.

I was having the same issues as Cawlin and called up AppleCare. They suggested resetting the PRAM, and then a SMC reset. That didn't work, so they had me do a re-install of the OS and system updates. None of that worked, and then it suddenly occurred to me that I had installed USB Overdrive a little while back and turns out that it was the culprit. A quick uninstall and everything's back to normal. The mouse preference panel is now displaying the correct options for the magic mouse. So if you have any 3rd party software for a mouse or keyboard installed, I would suggest uninstalling or disabling it and see if that does the trick.

  • How can I make my Droid 3 work with my Macbook Air

My Macbook is the 13.3 with 128 Flash memory... The 2011 model and I cannot get my droid 3 show up as USB media , the phone doesnt pick up the computer ? its weird...

    Hi again,
The games are copyrighted 2001, 2002, 2003 & 2004; I just bought them in December.
This is a classic case of: had an old computer, the new CD-roms were too advanced & wouldn't work. So I bought a new computer, and now the games are not advanced enough!
Although the other posted said I probably had to run them in "classic" - that's not something I should really do, right? Or is it ok to switch my OS back & forth?
When I first realized my problem & went back to the store, they suggested I look for a patch of some sort, that would upgrade these games. Is that realistic? I went to the mattel site & the vivendi site & didn't find anything that looked useful.
Finally, I do want to buy games for my kids. What sort of compatibility do I need to look for in the future? Is there really no way for us to use these games now?
Thanks for your help (and patience, since it takes me so long to get back to these forums

  • Will any wireless keyboard and mouse work with the Macbook Air?

I just need to know if my existing keyboard/mouse will work or if I need to purchase new.

Any BlueTooth keyboard or mouse should work. I have a nifty Kensington BT keyboard that switches from my desktop to MBA to iPad with the flick of a single key and I have a BT Magic Mouse.
