Making DVD with no menu - immediately plays?

Is there a way to make a DVD so that it plays when you insert the DVD into the player? I usually make a DVD menu, but I have something that won't need a menu and will play on a loop. Any tips?

  • How do i burn dvd with no menu - just play?

    hello,
I need to burn a dvd with no menu, so that when it plays, it goes straight to movie...
    thanks,
    steve

Steve - import your asset into DVDSP so that it appears in the assets tab. When imported (and the button shows green), drag the footage into the time line. This sets the footage into 'track 1'.
If you look in the outline view you will see Menu1 and Track 1 listed. menu 1 is the default choice for 'First Play' - if you now click on the disc icon at the top of the outline view then look in the property inspector you will find another way of setting 'First Play' - simply use the option to select the track instead.
If you control+click on the track icon in the outline view (or in the graphical view for DVDSP 3+) you get the option to set First Play there too - simply select the words at the top of the contextual menu.

  • Making a self starting DVD with no menu

Is there any way of creating a DVD with NO menu in iDVD? Dragging the video file to the top level drop box in map mode creates a self start but then a menu appears when playing finishes.

The DVD has to have some place to go when it completes playing your movie. If you don't want to see a menu, loop your movie. You will then need to use your remote to quit the DVD.
Here is slightly different approach that I use: http://homepage.mac.com/profpixel/AutostartDVD/autostart.htm

  • How do i create a dvd with no menu in dvd sp?

i want to make dvds of a short film (just over 10mins) and have them autostart when placed in a dvd player or do nothing until somebody presses play and then it just starts. no menus or anything.
how do i do this in dvd studio pro?

To make a DVD with no menu that simply plays the moment you pop the DVD in, use this method:
    - in DVD SP select the DVD Project in the "Outline Tab". (located above the menus folder)
    - in the "Connections Tab", drag your completed Track onto the "First Play" target (located at the very top)
Notice the Target changes from "Menu 1" to "Track 1" (or the name you have given the track)
This will bypass the menu and go right to your track.
    Hope that helps,

You may be able to find iDVD as part of the iLife 11 Retail Package. It is no longer sold by Apple, but you may find it on eBay or Amazon.
Other options include Toast from Roxio.

  • Burning dvd with no menu

    Hello,
I am looking for a way to burn a movie so that the movie automatically plays when ou put it in the dvd player, without a menu screen coming up first. is that possible?

I have burned dvd's from idvd with no menue. What i did was go to the themed screen I chose, whether I want to use it or not in the final burn, and click on the "three boxes" icon (called the" show the DVD map")on the bottom of the menu page. It shows a box with the words "Drag content here to automatically play when disc is inserted. What I do is click and drag the movie to that gray box, and then continue on to burn the dvd to a disk. the dvd will burn and will automatically play when you insert the finished dvd into a dvd player.

  • Urgent Please. DVD With No Menu.

    hi guys.
a client of mine asks for a DVD with their video on it without ANY menus at all, so that it plays straight away when inserted into a standard DVD player and doesn't show ANY menus.
please tell me how to create a DVD with no menus in iDVD.
    this is urgent.
    cheers.

How to create a DVD in iDVD without menu (there are several options):
    1. Easy: Drop your iMovie in the autoplay box in iDVD's Map View, then set your autoplay item (your movie) to loop continously. Disadvantage: The DVD plays until you hit stop on the remote
    2. Still easy: If you don't want your (autoplay) movie to loop, you can create a black theme by replacing the background of a static theme with a black background and no content in the dropzone (text needs to be black as well). Disadvantage: The menu is still there and will play after the movie. You don't see it, but your disc keeps spinning in the player.
    3. Still quite easy but takes more time: Export the iMovie to DV tape, and then re-import using One-Step DVD.
Disadvantage: One-Step DVD creation has been known to be not 100% reliable.
    4. (My preferred method) Easy enough but needs 3rd party software: Roxio Toast lets you burn your iMovie to DVD without menu - just drag the iMovie project to the Toast Window and click burn. Disadvantage: you'll need to spend some extra $$ for the software. In Toast, you just drop the iMovie project on the Window and click Burn.
    5. The "hard way": Postproduction with myDVDedit (freeware)
    Tools necessary: myDVDedit ( http://www.mydvdedit.com )
    • create a disc image of your iDVD project, then double-click to mount it.
    • Extract the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to a location of your choice. select the VIDEO_TS folder and hit Cmd + I to open the Inspector window
    • Set permissions to "read & write" and include all enclosed items; Ignore the warning.
    • Open the VIDEO_TS folder with myDVDedit. You'll find all items enclosed in your DVD in the left hand panel.
    • Select the menu (usually named VTS Menu) and delete it
    • Choose from the menu File > Test with DVD Player to see if your DVD behaves as planned. If it works save and close myDVDedit.
    • Before burning the folders to Video DVD, set permissions back to "read only", then create a disc image burnable with Disc Utility from a VIDEO_TS folder using Laine D. Lee's DVD Imager:

  • Making DVDs autoplay, without menu

is there any way to make DVDs without the menu, just make the video start playing? thanks..

Sure - there's a button at the bottom that looks a little like an organizational chart. Click that and drag your video up to the lead position (the beginning of the org chart).

  • Making dvd with NO MENUS

is there a simple way to make a movie in imovie with no themes and burn it to a dvd with no themes ? I do have Toast.
    thanks.
    Laura

sorry for bad linking.. I edited the post and then kazoooomm kaputt...
    as Fred allready told you:
iM has no themes (iM6 HAS themes, but you decide to use or not to use them....), you confuse the usage of iM and iDVD...
I'm just owning ol' Toast6, a version which does NOT allow no-themes on DVDs.. but, I'm pretty sure, using Toast's Help, looking for 'autostart' ('copying' Fred's advice for iDVD...) will guide you ....

  • Burn DVD with no Menu

In Premiere Elements 11, how do I burn a DVD without a menu? I think at one time there was something that I accidently checked that said "don't show this again" that would have allowed me to do this. How do I get that back?

    bhess5
See Edit Menu/Preferences/General and the option "Show all do not show again message". Check the check mark status for it, and set accordingly.
Please let us know if that worked for you. If not, we will work on this some more.
    Looking forward to your results.
    Thank you.

  • How to Create a DVD With No Menu?

    hi there.
i've had DVD Studio Pro for a while and never used it.
would it be to hard to give me a step-by-step guidance on how to create a DVD from a QuickTime file in DVD Studio Pro (initially, in the form of a VIDEO_TS folder or IMG file) with no menus at all, so that it's played straight away once inserted into a stand-alone DVD player?
    anyone, please?

If you are starting in SD and can use compressor, that works better: there are more knobs to twist to adjust the results to your liking. Going from HD to SD, I think compressor or a third party encoder is a must. Just too many things to tweek to get it right for the video you shot.
AC3 has another advantage in addition to file size: bit rate. There is a limit on what DVD players will handle - usually less than 10mb/s. And if you can have video + audio well under that, you disc will be compatible with more players. If can always put both on the DVD, and use a menu to let a user pick one, but you don't want menus yet, as you said. Many music DVDs do just that: PCM for best fidelity (it is noticeable on a really high end system that most mortals don't have), or DD, even 5.1 for everyone else.
Encoding: I use 7.5mb/s max for video, and adjust the "average" depending on how big my video is; I've used as low as 4.2 for stage plays and it was not too bad. If you have a short video, you might use CBR (contstant bit rate) at 7.5 for the best quality. I likewise adjust my AC3 bit rate; 192 stereo where I must save space and the original sound quality was not great anyway, up to whatever the max is (384, I think).

  • How do I create a DVD with no menu ??

Can I create a DVD that plays like a CD, using track numbers instead of a on-screen menu? I have several QT files, and I'd like to be able to jump between them using the buttons directly on the (commercial) DVD player... with no messing about in a DVD menu. The DVD is for a projection during a theatrical performance, and I don't want there to be a menu flashing up on the screen. Many thanks!

    Welcome to the forums.
Most inquiries relate to autostarting the DVD or not having a theme -- perhaps you'll be stuck with those options. But you might first want to create a short test DVD, but join the QT files with a couple seconds of black between the "tracks" and put chapters at the beginning of each track. That will let you jump from one track to another without going to any menu and it gives you a little time at the end of a track to manipulate the controls. What you can experiment with is whether your remote will allow you to jump to a non-sequential track (if you press #4, does it jump to chapter 4?).
In DVD Studio Pro, you can program the desired action to specific buttons, so I assume you could do what you want.
Another thought, iDVD does (used to?) support scripting so that might be something to investigate. See this link for some resources:
    http://search.oreilly.com/?q=applescript
And finally, a non-tech solution: use two DVD players and have the other one set to play the next video and use a switch to go between the two outputs (or switch between inputs on the projector).

  • DVD with no menu access

    Hi everybody,
I recently found out that on some DVD payer that behave perfectly well in other circumstances, some DVD-video burnt with Toast 7.0.2 would not allow selecting items within the main menu, nor going to next page.
    It only permits playing.
I have had this problem once before with DVDpro. Actuallly I thought I had done something wrong because it is was behaving like that on all players, whereas in the case described above (toast) it happens only on one of my three players...and I don't know if the person to whom the DVD is sent will be able to play it fine ?
What could be the reason ????
Is it a bug in the application ?
    Thanks in advance.

My guess is it is a media incompatibility with that DVD Player. If you burned it to a different brand of good-quality media the menu selection would work.

  • Exporting DVD with many menues and timelines

I'm creating with some friends an interactive DVD for children. So we've made games such as labyrints, questions based games, and this kind of things. Maybe it was a mistake, but we've done all with Adobe Encore 2.0. I haven't had problems creating these games, linking menues and timelines until they formed a playable game, but the project soon reached a very large number of timelines and, most of all, menues. So, when i try to export my project into a DVD or a DVD-Folder, the program start to render menues, but then it doesn't go on. I've waited 5 hours, but...nothing. It say: "CREATING FOLDER" and then, "RENDERING MENU 11", and here remains.
So, can you tell me what happened? The problem is related too a too huge number of elements in the project, or is another kind of problems?
    Thank all of you...

    Can you
    i please
give more details? There is simply not enough information here to even begin to work the solution out.
    How many timelines?
    How many menus?
What type of menu is menu 11? Motion/Static/With or without Audio?
What is your system spec? (CPU/RAM/HDD's installed/Other stuff running in the background etc)
The more detail you can give, the better
