Hi,
Go to SPRO > Materials Management > Purchasing > Scheduling Agreements > Define Screen Layout at Document Level.
Choose your transaction. (me32) If you need this for me32l and if this transaction is not shown, copy me32 and rename it has me32l. This will create a new entry.
Go into the particular transaction and go to "GR/IR Control". Here change the tick to "Required Entry" in the feild "GR based IV".
This should make the field mandatory.

as my subject line states, i have checked the transactions OMSR / OMS9 and it shows that the field should be display, but it is still required. i would like to turn this off so that this field is not required.

Hi Erik,
In the Standard System it will not be possible to save the material if the material group is not ready for input or if it has no value (if it is initial).
You must correct your field selection Customizing for the material group (MARA-MATKL) in Customizing Transaction OMSR accordingly, so that you can maintain the material group in the material master.
Basically, If the purchasing view is filled (ie. the material is eligible for purchasing), the material group (MARA-MATKL) become mandatory.
Thus, the customizing has no effect in this case. If you only fill the Basic view and NOT the Purchasing view, the customizing will have thedesired effect in your System.
The reason for this is that the purchasing programs require this field and MUST be filled in the material master (It is 'hardcoded' this way).
The only way to avoid the error would be to do a modification into the source code !!!

Making fields required based on other field input

I am creating a form in adobe acrobat pro that employees need to fill in to show the clients they have worked for in a week. The form has 10 lines for them to fill in the date, client name, address etc for 10 clients. I want to make the client name and address fields required only if the date has been filled in in the first column. I can't make every row required fields as they may not have 10 clients that they have worked for. I have a send button set up so that all required fields are completed before the form can be sent. Can someone help me with the script I would need. I have worked out how to make the fields required if a check box is ticked but can't find any scripting for fields to be required if text has been entered in a specific field.

You can use the custom validation script of the date fields. Let's say you
want to make Name1 and Address1 required if Date1 is not empty.
Use this code to do it:

Making field mandatory in ME21N

Hi All,
I need to make the Purch.Requisition field mandatory in the Purch.Order in ME21N.
it should be mandatory only for one specific company code and DOCtype.
( like, mandatory only for CompCode 3000 and doctype NB ).
the field name is MEPO1211-BANFN.
Should i be using some screen exit or BADI for this purcpose.

Making PR mandatory based on Doc Type can be achieved via SPRO. The path is
SPRO>Materials Management>Purchasing>Purchase Order>Define Screen Layout at Document Level. Create a new field selection based on your exisiting field selection or modify your exisiting one. It depends on your requirement. Click on Reference data, item You would find PR and some radio buttons. Click the one for Reqd Entry. Save.
Once this is saved, go to SPRO>Materials Management>Purchasing>Purchase Order> Define Document Type. Enter the updated field selection from above in the document type row for which this change needs to be activated.

I have the following requirement of making Customer Po Line Filed Mandatory basing on Customer PO Number at Sales Order Line level.
We need to use Sales Order line "Customer PO" line level number to manage the "Cust PO Line" field.
1.When ever "Customer PO" line level modified make Cust PO Line" field empty and as required field.
2.When ever "Customer PO" at line level removed make Cust PO Line" field empty and as non required field.
3.When ever "Customer PO" value at header level is also there,then Customer PO Line value should be Mandatory and Empty after REQUERYING.
Please suggest me the possibilities as soon as possible.Please provide the soltuion steps as soon as possible clearly.

Making Fields mandatory in SM30

Does anybody know how can we make fields in SM30 as mandatory. If we have 4 fields in some Z-table, i want to make 2 of the fields mandatory...Pls help me out.

Two methods for this
1. Put code in table maintenance
You have to put some code in while generating table maintenance screen from table maintenace generator which will validate the field when user try to enter data using SM30..
Goto table maintenace generator follow menu path
Enviroment->Modification->Event
Add a event there (01 Before saving the data in the database) and code to validate data... this code will be called before saving data in database via transaction SM30.
2 .Modify screen
Follow menu path Enviroment->Modification->Maintenance Screen
And make the field require field

Field Selection Based on Material Type

Hello!!
Can any one tell me how to make a single field mandatory in material master based on material type?
I know we can use OMS9 to make it mandatory... the field i was looking is in a field selection group....when i make it mandatory i am actually making all the fields in the field selection group as mandatory...i dont want to do that...i just want to make only one field as mandatory.....
If some one has any kind of training documents...could you please send it across?

Hello Srinivasa,
Consumptions are time dependent consumption information for a facility object like coal consumption.
Consumption based calculation is used to calculate Emissions quantities based on amount of materials consumed.
Consumption based calculations are defined in calculation manater and are assigned in tab Consumption material.
For simple example without any major parameters emissions if you want to calculate sulfur dioxide emissions =
Sulfur dioxide) in defined unit = Consumptions * EF
If you want to enter detailed equations taking into consideration facility parameters like temperature, control efficiency then you consumption based quations includes all such parameters
The field you are referrring here - "consumption based calculation" - is automatically populated, based on material - consumption based equation assignment in tab Consumption materials.

Unique problem with validation/ making field required

I have searched the forums trying to find a way to make a field required based on the users selection of a check box, or something else. So far, everything says use nullTest = "error".
I have tried to do this and get the following results: The red highlighting, which shows up around my other required fields, will not show up unless you click in the text box and then out of it. Weird! Then, when pressing the submit button, it will not actually give you an error message if there is nothing in that text box, as it will if there is nothing in the fields that I originally make required.
Any thoughts, or fixes would be greatly appreciated.

We do the same thing here. We haven't had any issues with the submit not validating the field correctly though. Our only issue was the red highlighting. To get around this, we would call resetdata on the field. resetData clears out the value of the field so you need to store it off and then reset it.

How to Handle Blank Field Value based Condition in SmartForms

Dear Sir,
In SMARTFORM , we need to define a Condition that incase Field Value is not equal to BLANK value (blank means that field is empty) then a specific text gets printed .
Our problem is that We do not know as how to define Empty Field Value based condition .
Had it been Non Empty Field value based condition then solution was simple and could be done in following way :
Field Value                        R                     Comparision Value
WA_KZDKZ                      =                      'X'
In our case , we need to give Blank (Empty Value) instead of 'X' .

Need to make Assignment field in Cash Journal mandatory

Hi friends
I have a requirement to make the assignment field as mandatory in the Cash Journal for a particular G/L. So accordingly, i changed the Field Status for that particular G/L as mandatory in the Field Status Group. But now when i am entering the transaction in FBCJ, it is not prompting me to enter the assignment field. Strangely, when i try the same thing with F-02 with the same G/L, it shows the Assignment field as mandatory.
I checked the field name of the assignment field and it was ZUONR. However, in FBCJ, the name shows as ALLOC_NMBR. Please tell me where i am going wrong.

On FBCJ screen, even though the field is set to mandatory in field status, "?" mark doesn't appear, but if the field is not filled, the system should issue an error message and the document doesn't get posted to FI. You can use screen variant to set the field mandatory on FBCJ screen.

In case your datasource is R/3 then write a small ABAP program and update the values in the ROOSFIELD table.
The ABAP program code is as follows:
tables ROOSFIELD.
Update ROOSFIELD set SELECTION = 'M' where
OLTPSOURCE = '<your datasource name>' and
FIELD = '<field on which mandatory selection is needed>'.

For Notification i am not sure whether this field is ther , but anything u can perform checkings via

Alternatively u can also explore via Transaction variant SHD0 ..
