Making 'float all in windows' the default in CS5

I have recently upgraded to Photoshop CS5 extended v12.0 x64.  I am running Mac OS X 10.6.4 on a MacBook Pro.  When multiple files are opened, the default is that they are consolidated as tabs.  I have found the 'float all in windows' command under Window>Arrange.  How can I make this the default so that I do not need to do this operation every time?
thanks

Thanks for the reply, Chris and John.
Another quick one for you:  Sometimes PS won't open a RAW file when I double-click on the icon, but I can open the same file by going to File > Open.
Any ideas?

  • Open images as float all in windows and not as uneditable background

    I hope the Elements team read these posts occasionally, and realize how many people want to default images to open "float all in windows" instead of having to hunt through the drop down menus to do it every single time PSE is opened. I also want to be able to open everything as an editable layer, rather than having to hunt through the menus every single time for the "new adjustment layer" command. Both of course were done by default by the supposedly primitive and inferior PhotoDeluxe I used on Windows...

    As for the adjustment layers, you can do that right from the layers panel:
    Just click the black and white circle No need for the menus at the top of the screen. If you go to Preferences>General and turn on Allow Floating Documents, you can have floating windows by default in all recent versions of PSE except for 9.0.3:

  • How can I use terminal to make links open in same window the default behaviour, as it was in Safari 5.0, How can I use terminal to make links open in same window the default behaviour, as it was in Safari 5.0

    In Lion, the default of pressing a link on a web page, is to open the page in a new tab. In itself, I do like this because this is what I did for 19 out of any 20 links, which I command+clicked in previous Safari versions.
    However, there is a snag to this behaviour. Most (all?) secure site do not like links to be opened in a new tab. For example, when I am doing Web banking, The the linked page doesn’t open in new tab. Rather I get a page telling me my login session is expired. Probably a security measure instituted by my bank.
    I since found out, that a command-click opens lings in the same window. Theoretically that solves the problem, if I would think about this all the time. I don't. Old habits die slowly.
    Is there a terminal command to make links open in same window the default behaviour, as it was in Safari 5.0.

    Hi Eric,
    I got it figured out today, basically you have to load the Parallel Flash Loader first into FPGA ram. It is a special .sof file (pfl_epXXXX.sof) based on your FPGA. Code is actually pretty straight forward, using the Sys Exec VI. Use the windows based programmer to generate the .cdf file that identifies your FPGA, attached Flash and .pof file .
    Syntax was odd going into Sys Exec. Note the extra "C" in in front of the "quartus_prm.exe" I have no idea why that was needed, but I was getting an error until I just happened to put it in there (Blind Luck :-))
    I used a 2 element array going into a four loop
    cmd /cquartus_pgm.exe -c USB-BLASTER -m JTAG -o P;pfl_epXXXX.sof
    cmd /cquartus_pgm.exe -c USB-BLASTER -m JTAG S_FPGA.cdf
    Defining the working director C:\altera\12.1sp1\qprogrammer\bin
    And added match string with "Successfully performed operation" on the output in the loop to make sure everything loaded correctly then adding the array to give me a overall P/F
    To anyone doing this same thing Altera's documentation is poor to say the least. It took most of a week to figure this out Not allowed to upload code, so anyone wanting details just post here and I will try to help. This was painful, with lots of lessons learned.
    Thanks for the interest though
    Best regards John

  • How to remove "all day" as the default setting in iCal?

    How to remove "all day" as the default setting in iCal? The iCloud calendar works by double-clicking but the local behaves differently.

    Hello Valerie,
    the default - "all day" or "time based" - depends on the view in iCal. In month view the default is "all day",
    in week view or day view it is a time interval, if you use "File -> New Event". If you add the event by double clicking into the calendar, it will depend on the section you are clicking - in the all day section you will add an all-day event, in the time-grid you will enter an event with start-end time.

  • Making Adobe 7.0.5 the default for .pdf files

    I was advised that the way to get Adobe 7.0.5 to be the default, instead of 5.0, was to delete the Adobe applications & files in my system, library, and user folders, including the 7.0.5 app. itself. Then, after everything relating to Adobe is gone, I should re-install 7.0.5 and it would become the default.
    I also heard that Spotlight won't find every Adobe component or extention, so I'd have to do a detailed search and delete each one that way.
    Does this sound right?
    Can't I just delete the 5.0 folder in the Applications (Mac OS 9) folder and have everthing associated with 5.0 gone? Isn't that the beauty of having a Mac?
    Thanks,
    Greg
    PowerBook G4 15"   Mac OS X (10.4.2)   1.5 GHz, 1.5 GB RAM

    Hi Greg
    You were poorly advised. Deleting Adobe apps is a headache and completely irrelevant when it comes to making an app the default for a file type.
    Control-click a .pdf file, choose Get Info. In the Info window click the Open With drop down list, choose the app you want, and then click Change All underneath it.
    That should do it. You might find that there is more than one type of .pdf file and you might need to perform this action again at some time, but this should do the job.
    And yes, you can just delete the Acrobat Reader 5.0 folder.

    You can use powershell script below which loops through each libraries and sets view.You can modify the script to user it for single library as well.
    Add-PSSnapin Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell -erroraction SilentlyContinue
    $siteURL = "<YOURSITEURL>"
    $site = Get-SPSite($siteURL)
    foreach($web in $site.AllWebs) {
    foreach($list in $web.Lists) {
    if($list.BaseType -eq "DocumentLibrary") {
    // the variables `$web` and `$list` already reference the objects you need
    //$site = New-Object Microsoft.SharePoint.SPSite($SiteURL) ;
    //$web = $site.OpenWeb($SiteURL);
    // new instance of the list is necessary to avoid the error "Collection was modified"
    $newList = $web.Lists.item($list.ID);

    $viewfields.Add("DocIcon")

  • How to list all properties in the default Toolkit

    I would like to know what kinds of properties are stored in the default Toolkit (Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit()). I don't know how to list all of them. Toolkit class has a method getProperty(String key, String defaultValue), but without knowing a list of valid keys, this method is useless.

  • PDF Preset - making a custom PDF preset the "default" selection

    Hello- I always use the same PDF preset when saving pdfs at my job. But every time I go to save a document as a pdf I have to use the drop down menu to choose my preset. Is there anyway to make the program default to my custom preset? This seems to happen automatically in Indesign, but I cannot get it to work in illustrator.
    thanks!
    liz

    I'm having the same issue. The Adobe PDF Presets window (from the Edit menu) lets you add/delete and import/export. However, I see no method to designate a specific preset as the default. So as you describe, I'm having to choose the Preset from the drop-down menu each time. While I can make AppleScripts that utilize the preset I need, it's a pain to have to make the drop-down selection when I'm working on just one file. Since I use a particular PDF Preset +90% of the time, it would be great to have the option to set it as the default. If I find any work around, I'll post it here. Thanks - Josh

  • Making Open in New Tab the default?

    We're using Safari 3.0.4, and while I'm happy with the Command-click or right-click-and-select options to make a link open in a new tab, my son wants to know if there's a way to make "open in new tab" the default action when simply clicking on ANY link.
    It seems that option exists right now for links within other apps, but not for links within Safari itself. Has anyone figured out a way to do this?
    Thanks,

  • I have tried all the available solutions to prevent Foxstar becoming the default home page including uninstalling Firefox/deleting my profile but nothing works

    I have nothing to add to the question.

    You can check for problems with preferences and try to rename or delete the prefs.js file and possible numbered prefs-##.js files and a possible user.js file to reset all prefs to the default values.
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Resetting_preferences
    Check for the presence of a mozilla.cfg file in the Firefox program folder to initialize some prefs.
    This also involves the presence of a .js (JScript) file, probably in "defaults\pref" folder, that specifies to read this mozilla.cfg file.
    If you have .js files apart from the channel-prefs.js file, that sets app.update.channel, in the defaultspref folder then open this file in an editor like Notepad and please post its content.
    Also please post the content of the mozilla.cfg file.
    If you have this mozilla.cfg file then best is to do a clean reinstall of Firefox and remove the Firefox program folder.

  • How can I set a custom Home Page while ALSO having a New Tab be the default Mozilla Page?

    Why is the "home Page" = to a New Tab page? Why are they linked. I want my.yahoo.com to be my Home Page (currently set properly) but my New Tab page seems to be set to "Conduit" and has a search bar. I have no idea where that came from or how it got set that way. I want to have my current Home Page but make any New Tabs be the Mozilla Default Page with a Google search bar. Is that possible? I am running on Windows XP.

  • When I click on a picture or map in i.e. Kijiji real estate pages, Firefox opens it all crunched to the right side of the page. How can I correct this?

    When I click on a picture or map in i.e. Kijiji real estate pages, Firefox opens it all crunched to the right side of the page. How can I correct this?
    For instance I view an apartment ad which has various pictures attached. It says click on the pictures to see an enlarged version. FF opens the page however most of the page is blank and the picture appears to be pushed to the right side of the page and shows as if it has been scrunched agains the right side not showing the whole picture.
    What Can I do to correct this?

    I see that you have increased some font sizes considerably.
    * font.size.fixed.x-western: 20
    * font.size.variable.x-western: 22
    This can effect margins when the website specifies these as em values and cause content to shift.
    If you have made changes to Advanced font settings like increasing the minimum/default font size then try the default minimum setting "none" and the default font size 16 in case the current setting is causing problems.
    *Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
    Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own fonts.
    *Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced: [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
    It is better not to increase the minimum font size, but to use an extension to set the default page zoom to prevent issues with text not being displayed properly.
    You can use the NoSquint extension to set font size (text/page zoom) and text color on web pages.
    *NoSquint: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/nosquint/
    Note that your System Details List shows multiple Flash plugins.
    * Shockwave Flash 16.0 r0
    *Shockwave Flash 12.0 r0
    You can find the installation path of all plugins on the <b>about:plugins</b> page.
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Issues_related_to_plugins#Identifying_installed_plugins
    You can check the Flash player installation folder for multiple Flash player plugins and remove older version(s) of the plugin (NPSWF32) and possibly (re)install the latest Flash player.
    *(32 bit Windows) C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\
    *(64 bit Windows) C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\
    Your System Details list shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize prefs each time Firefox starts.
    The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created this file and normally it wouldn't be there.
    You can check its content with a plain text editor (right-click: Open with) if you didn't create this file yourself.
    The user.js file is read each time Firefox is started and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.
    You can delete this user.js and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.

  • Change the default search criteria in CMD-F

    When you enter CMD-F from a Finder window, the default search criteria that come up is "Kind" is "Any".  This is probably the most useless search criterion I can imagine.  It is always necessary to add more criteria to get a minimally useful search under way.
    Can anyone point me to a source I could use to change this default?  In my case, the most common and useful starting point would be "Filename"  Contains, and then a blank field into which I could enter a string that might be all or part of a filename.
    Thanks.

    I don't know how to change the default, but you can set up any number of starting points for searches like this:
    Enter Command-F in a Finder window, then set the criteria Filename and Contains. Click the Save lozenge.
    In the Save dialog, you will have the option of saving this search to the Finder Sidebar in addition to the default ~/Library/Saved Searches. Click on Smart icon in the Sidebar and a new Finder Search tab will open with your parameters set.
    If you don't want to save this search in your Sidebar, you can command-drag its smart folder from ~/Library/Saved Searches to the Finder Toolbar. Clicking on that will bring up a Finder Search with your parameters, as well.
