Making i movie trailer on last clip that needs to be optimised help!

making i movie trailer, on last clip have alert that says clip needs to be optimized  help!

Right-click on the clip (or Control-click) and see if it offers to optimize. If so, say Yes.
You can also right-click on the clip in the Event and see if it offers to optimize. If so, say Yes.
If it does not, come back and I will give you a different way to optimize.
If you want to understand what is going on when you optimize, your camera shoots in a very compressed format. This is usually either AVCHD, h.264, or MPEG2. These are called Long GOP (group of pictures) compression techniques. See my post here for why it is good to convert to i-frames (or optimize) before editing.

I would restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod on your computer and start over. It appears the iPod is associated with another account.  Any media that came with the iPod does not belong to you and di not transfer with the iPod hardware.

  • I have only a few clips that need to be up resed

I read the Ken Stone article on working in low res, but in order to up-res, you have to create an entire offline sequence. I only have a few clips that were captured at OfflineRT (photo jpeg), I cut them in to a full-res sequence, now how do I select only those clips to be up-resed?
    Thank you!

If you where hoping to recapture the OfflineRT stuff from your original source tapes...
Select those clips in the Browser (no need to take them Offline or anything)
Open Log & Capture and confirm that everything in the Capture Settings tab is correct for your source material
    Click Batch Capture
In the dialog that pops up - +and this is crucial+ - uncheck the *Use Logged Clip Settings* box
Insert the reels as requested by FCP
Once your material is recaptured, you'll have to adjust any Motion Tab settings for clips in sequences (things like scale and distort need to be reset, usually) but it usually beats having to recreate your entire project via Media Manager if you've only got a handful of clips to uprez.

  • Captured clips that need rendering ?

    Hello,
Anyone have any idea why my clips all need rendering after capture.
Its just DV Pal shot 16:9 - what could the problem be ?
Thanks for any help you can offer.
    Peter

... what could the problem be ?
The sequence settings don't match the clips. If they do, you don't need to render.
If you have FCP 6 or 7, create a new sequence (doesn't matter what easy preset you use) and drop one of the captured clips into it. When FCP asks you if you want to change the sequence settings to match the clip, say yes.
If you are working on FCP 5 or earlier, create a new sequence using the DV/PAL 16:9 anamorphic preset. If that is what you really captured, you should not have to render.

  • Making a movie with slides and clips

Hi. I would like to create a project that will incorporate slide shows sections with video clips. Has anyone done this, and if so, is there any advice you can give before I start so I can avoid snags? For example, I know that iMovie has limitations on the number of slides in a slideshow. Will I still run into this problem if I am splitting sections of slides? I would like the finished project to be about a half hour long. Will playback quality on a DVD be consistent switching between video and slides? Are there any settings I should be aware of before I start?
I am using iMovie 4 on an iMac G5 running 10.4.2 with 1GB Ram
    Thank you for your help.
    Haley

    Hi Haley.
I have done photos and video on iMovie with only one slight problem.
I don't know what you mean by saying the number of pictures is limited - you can have as many as you want.
To begin with , don't use iPhoto. Just import your photos straight into iMovie. There you can adjust the duration of each slide to whatever you want, add the Ken Burns effect where necessary and put any type of transition between them.
Although the original photos will be much better quality than DV, when they go into iMovie they will of course end up with DV quality which is perfectly OK. The video should blend in well with the stills.
Now for the one slight problem. A video image is interlaced and sometimes certain types of photos will exhibit a slight shimmer or vibration. This will NOT appear on your computer monitor but will on a normal TV screen. So it is a good idea to play the video through to a TV before you burn a DVD etc. to see whether it is OK.
How can you eliminate the flicker? More expensive programs like Final Cut have de-interlace or flicker removal filters which actually blur the image very slightly. iMovie hasn't, so you have to put up with this slight problem. You may find it quite acceptable on any pictures it affects. If you don't you could possibly experiment with the Sharpness filter to very slightly soften the image.
Just go ahead with your project. I don't think you will find any serious problems and if by any chance you do, you can always ask for help in these forums.
    Good luck.
    Ian.
PS When you come to burn a DVD it is best to do a test one on an RW type, then if it is not right you have not wasted a DVD.

  • I am making a movie on my ipad using iMovie, need help with music.

I have a song that I put into my itunes library and then uploaded it into a dropbox folder.  I have dropbox on all my apple products.  Anyway, I would like to use this song in my imovie project.  How do I get it into imovie from dropbox.  It is a an aif. file.
    THANKS!  Kelly

What you share on iTunes file share is the project itself, not the final video. Press share > camera roll. And then you can access the video on explorer/finder as any other photo.

  • I-movie 06 Titles overwrite clips

I work in a city learning centre where children from local primary schools come to work. The children have imported a piece of stop frame animation into imovie. This appears as a single clip. Each time i add titling to th movie it overwrites the clip that is already there, giving two instances of the title. Both myself and a technician caanot seem to find out why. We discovered a workaround which is clumsy, but worked. We copied the clip, added a title at the end, moved the title to the beginning and then deleted the copy clip. Not a solution to use with 9 year old all the time.
I am sure I am missing something, but what? Any help would be gratefully received.

I am very fuzzy on iMovie 05. I only used it a couple of times before I upgraded to iMovie 06.
I think it does fine with DV tapes. That is really what it was designed for. It should work fine with iDVD.
iMovie 05 was called iMovie HD because it was the first version that would work with HDV tapes. (1440x1080 MPEG2)
In iMovie 06, you can choose a setting in Preferences to "Start a new clip at each scene break". This can be turned on or off.  I think this also exists in iMovie 5. If you want to do any editing in iMovie 5, I would leave this on. If not, just turn it off.
If I wanted to get this clip to iMovie 11, then
In iMovie 06, I would drag the long clip to the Timeline and use SHARE/QUICKTIME/EXPERT SETTINGS.
Choose Movie to QuickTime Movie and press Options. In the Video Settings, choose DV/DVC PRO NTSC (unless you are in a PAL country). Leave audio as is. Hit OK.
This should produce a MOV file of DV that will stay in order when you use FILE/IMPORT MOVIE to imovie 11.
You could always go straight from iMovie 05 to iDVD if you did not want to do much editing, or if you wanted to edit in iMovie 05.
Like I said, I am not the expert in iMovie 05. You might want to post a question with iMovie 05 prominently in the title and ask if it will do this, like iMovie 06 will. There are people here who are quite knowledgeable about iMovie 05, but they might never look this deep into this post.

  • IMovie HD refuses to import .MOV clips that it used to import.

I've got an odd problem. Doing a search didn't turn up anything relevant to my situation so I'm gonna try to pick some brains on here.
My Problem: My version of iMovie(5.0.2) no longer recognizes .mov clips that it used to. Meaning that when I try to import clips using settings that worked previously, I am now confronted with an Error during import message that reads "The file could not be imported: Unknown Error". Two things have changed since I last made a project.
1.) I have added a microphone that now allows me to record stereo audio. I don't think this is the culprit.
2.) I updated to 10.6.6 Recently. I think this may be what messed things up.
After trying to Drag and also import clips through the menu with no success, I tried to import clips that I have used before under the exact same conditions and was greeted with the same error. This is importing using the HDV 720p setting. If I try to import new or old clips using the standard DV (16:9) setting then everything works.
These same clips are able to be imported into iMovie '09 with no trouble but I am uncomfortable with that interface. Is there anything I can do to continue to work in iMovie HD or would I just be better off with getting used to iMovie 09?
    Thank you for any replies.

I have Mac 10.6.6 and use iMovie 05 transferring it to iDVD 08. It is getting less easy to do, but usually i make the movie in 05, complete with chapter marking and press the export to DVD.
The file for the Movie I have made is saved automatically in the Movie folder on my owner/home page. To get it out to iDVD 08 open 08 and select create new project and click save This puts a small file into Documents, However to get your work into the new DVD select import>video and when the screen opens for you to find it go to your movie folder in your owners area and click to open the file. It works, but there is usually a problem somewhere along the line. Usually a different one each time, occasionally it goes like clockwork. It won't work if you try the drop down 'open' option.
This last time I got so irritated that I've downloaded the last set of film clips to 05 and then transferred them to 08 to compare the results. I still feel that the later versions are less good (?dumbed down) and await to be converted.

  • Making a movie clip play beyond keyframe

    Hi,
I have a movie clip that is about 30 frames long. I've placed an instance of it on the main timeline and it follows a motion path. My motion path ends after about 20 frames. At this time, I've inserted a keyframe which is preventing my movie clip from playing the remaining 10 frames.
I tried adding an ActionScript layer where the last keyframe is and it reads:
    instance.gotoAndPlay (20)
Doesn't seem to work. Just a note that this is around frame 292 of the main timeline. Also note, a new keyframe begins on another layer with a different movie clip.
    Any ideas? Much appreciated.

I think I may understand now, and your first approach to solving it should work.  What you need to be sure to do is to assign the instance name at every keyframe.  If you did not name it in its first frame of the main timeline, it will inherit that lack of a name in the keyframe at the end of the tween, regardless of your assigning it there... just a quirk of Flash.
Another option, if this is a straight line tween of the object on the main timeline is to use actionscript to animate it rather than a timeline tween.

  • I received a link to a iTune movie trailer in an email.  I clicked on watch now and then play.  I was told I need to download Quick Time, but when I clicked on download, I was told that QT is built into Mac OSX.  My MacBook has OSX Yosemite.

I received a link to a iTune movie trailer in an email.  I clicked on "watch now" and then "play".  I was told I need to download Quick Time, but when I clicked on download, I was told that QT is built into Mac OSX.  How do I get QT to work?

When I hit the play icon the little arrow thing goes all the way over to the end of the file and doesn't play at all.  What gives?
Is this a minimum information puzzle? It is difficult to diagnose a problem long distance when you provide little or no information regarding what actions you are actually taking to export the data or which version of iPhoto you are using. Based on your latest description of how it doesn't work, my best guess is that you are exporting a single frame from your video clip rather than the "Original" file. This is easily checked by opening the file in QT and simply pressing the left/right arrow keys. If the file only contains a single frame, then your export work flow is at fault. Please select the "File > Original" (or similar) option in the export menu to export the entire file in whatever version of iPhoto you are using..

  • I've created a movie but at the end there is an invisible audio clip that keeps playing. How can I select it and delete it?

    Hello everyone,
This is Karie Garnier in British Columbia, Canada.
    I'm new to FCPX.
I've created a 20 minute movie, but at the end of the movie, there is an invisible audio clip that keeps playing.
How can a video clip be playing and making sounds, when it doesn't appear in the timeline? and ...
How can I select this invisible audio clip and delete it?

I think you could be right, that it's an old render file that's got stuck.
By the time I finished this movie my 500 GB hard drive was 99.9% full and
FCP started acting wierd, so I suspect you are right.
I have since upgraded my hard drive to one 1000 GBs but when I play the movie the
    glitch remains.
    Can you please tell me:
       a) How can I fix the old render file so that it is no longer stuck?  ... and
       b) How do I take a screen shot of the timeline?

  • Disabling all movie clips that are on lower levels

    Hello
I have a movie clip that pops up over all other movie clips.
But it is still possible to interact with these movie clips that
are beneath the mc that has popped up. Is there any way to disable
all of the movie clips that are beneath the one that popped up?
    thanks

Typically the way to do this is simply create a large
invisible MovieClip which covers everything, and give it a an
    interactive event. I often use:
    on(rollOver){
    useHandCursor = false;
This way not only does it steal interaction from anything
below it, it makes it so the cursor doesn't turn into a hand making
the user think there's something clickable.
You could also make a loop which checks getDepth() and if
it's below a specified depth, set enabled = false, but there's
really no reason in doing that.

  • How can I load an external SWF into a movie clip that's inside other movie clip?

    Hi.
I creating my first flash (actionscript 3.0) website but I'm
stuck with a visual effect I want to create.
I have a window on my website called contentWindow. Every
time you click a button this window is supposed to leave the stage,
load the requested content and return to the stage.
The sliding window is a movie clip with 83 frames, 21 to
enter the stage, 21 to leave the stage again, 20 for nothing (its
just to simulate the loading time) and 21 to return to the stage.
Now my goal is, when the user clicks on a navigation button,
the window exits the stage, loads an external SWF with the content,
and then returns to the stage.
I've the "window" movie clip with an instance name of
"contentWindow". Inside there is another movie clip with an
instance name of "contentLoader". The content that the user
requested should appear inside the "contentLoader".
Now, when the contentWindow leaves the stage, I get this
    error message:
    quote:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of
    a null object reference.
    at rwd_fla::MainTimeline/trigger()
    If I switch
    "contentWindow.contentLoader.addChild(navLoader);" for
"contentWindow.addChild(navLoader);" it works fine, but the
external SWF doesn't move with the window.
How can I load an external SWF into a movie clip that's
    inside other movie clip?

    Hi,
Recently, I have been putting together a flash presentation.
And I am just wondering if the following might help you, in your
communication with the said swf file:
    loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE,
    onComplete);
    function onComplete(event:Event):void
    event.target.content.thinggy_mc.y -= 100;
Not the best example, but this allows you to target a mc
within an external swf file. I think if you look up this code, you
    will have an answer ;)
    Kind Regards,

I buy for mac app but not for the iPad, so how do I reinstall a program that has already purchased? I need help because I bought the imovie'11 but when he opened it only brought 8 movie trailer templates instead of the 15 it says on the program. How do I solve this problem? Once paid for a program incomplete. I also liked that the AppStore itself had a button to reinstall programs already bought, because it is very hard to understand how to do this in the store, only option is to install and hide purchase, and how do I reinstall, attention'm talking about reinstalling a computer mac, not an ipad or iphone.
    Thank you.
