Making iCoud my primary email account.

Hello,
I would like to make my iCloud account my primary email account, so that I no longer have to use my GMail account and can get rid of it completely. As of right now, I have an iCloud account, a .me account, and a GMail account. Does anyone know how to do this? Do I have to delete my iCloud account, and make a new one? If so, how do I go about doing this?
Thank you for your help.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Brianne

I have changed my apple I'd primary email account and saved the changes yet when I try to buy from the App Store it still lists the old email address- can anyone advise how to fix this?

What id shows at the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app ? If it's the old email address that you had on your account then try tapping on it and log out of your account and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on the iPad.

  • Why did the latest update (31.1.2) delete database files for primary email account in profile?

After restarting TB to apply the 31.1.2 update, all of the database files for my primary email account were apparently deleted. Restarting TB again got it to start syncing with the IMAP server again, but it has to download around 100,000 messages again because of this. Was this a design decision or is there a problem with the update itself? And why did it only affect my primary email account and leave the other 4 (much smaller ones) unscathed?

Account5 is the one affected which is still attempting to sync. It also appears that my sync choices were altered without permission or notification. I always keep the Deleted folder and the POP subfolder from Hotmail accounts disabled since it is merely duplicating content in other folders. When re-checking the sync settings because it was taking so long, I found that the POP subfoler was selected for sync again.
The crash report is from a later TB crash, the first one ever on this system.

  • Changing primary email account confirmation passwo...

I use my Microsoft account to log into Skype.  I can log in just fine, and make calls. However, when I try to change my primary email account, it will ask for a password after you save changes. It will not take my Microsoft password so the changes aren't saved.  When I purchased Skype credit, it said my ID was live:xxxx.  As far as I am aware, there is no password associated with that ID. I've tried to do the forgot password option, and I get the email with the token just fine, but when I try to use it to reset the password, I get an "Opps, this isnt a valid token message."  I've done it twice with the same results each time. At some point I expect my former ISP to disable the email account that is now listed as primary, so I'd like to get my Microsoft email account switched to primary.

    Hi Danlepage
in this post: http://community.skype.com/t5/Security-Privacy-Trust-and/So-you-want-to-change-your-primary-mail-but... I've tried to describe what you need to do.
if you have a skype account created through the use of a microsoft account or a facebook account you have to do some not soo obvious things if you want to change your primary email.  that is what I try to describe in the post...
if your skype account was created as a normal skype user (where you log in with a  username and password), then you should not have any problems. just remember that the password you are supposed to enter when changng the primary mail, is the password of your skype user (I say this because you might be using a microsoft or facebook account to log on even in this case)
it is all very confusing, and skype support also have problems helping you (I spent 50 minutes in a chat session just to be told it can'nt be done.... two hours later I stumbled on a solution/workaround

I'm looking for advice on behalf of a friend. Her husband, who was the primary email account holder, passed away last year. My friend wants to delete his email address and make hers the primary address. How can this be done? She knows his sign-in details.

  • Internet primary email account

    Hi
We are wanting to change the primary email address on our BT account, we have been trying to do this for several months with endless phone calls to BT customer care to no avail. Yesterday I was told that the primary email had been changed after we upgraded our Internet option, After trying to register for WI-FI I got the message that the email address I entered was not recognised as the primary email account,

If you use this link it will let you know if you are registered with BTWifi. You must use your primary email address. It and your password are case sensitive. If your new email address doesn't work then check with your old email address. It might be stilll registered.

  • How can I verify my iCloud account if I can not access the primary email account associated with my Apple ID?

The email address I had set for my Apple ID when I had originally signed up was through my college.  I have been out of college now for a few years and the email account has been deleted. I was trying to set up iCloud on my iPad and iPhone but it says I need to access the account to verify through email.  I have tried to change my Apple ID email to my current email address but it tells me I can not do this either because that email is set up as my rescue email.  How can I change my primary email address for my Apple ID or get my iCloud verified in this situation I'm in?

Go to http://appleid.apple.com and click 'Manage your account'. You will be able to change the non-Apple email address you use as a login. You will then need to log out and in again on all your devices.

Old icloud account is filled with spam and hackers and stalkers.. got a new icloud account but won't let me replace the Primary one. Apparently, the only way to do so is by deactivating apple ID completely, Still able to open icloud email!!! ((((

HI   thank you. It will NOT LET ME or even give me the option. Because it's the primary email address that iCloud offered me
i do have a new Apple id and email alias but I think the only way is to describe the entire original iCloud which I'm trying to also if that what it takes. Thank u for your wisdom. Much appreciated.

  • Making changes to iCloud email account

My iCloud email has a heritage MobileMe preference in place whereby another account (hotmail) receives a copy of the mail sent to iCloud email (via MobileMe).  How do I change the iCloud email account to delete this old preference?

    Here ya go:
    Rescue email address
A rescue address helps secure your Apple ID account against unauthorized access by someone who gains control of your primary address. If you have a rescue address, it receives all security-related Apple ID email instead of your primary address, including the email needed to reset your password or security questions.
Go to My Apple ID (appleid.apple.com).
Select “Manage your Apple ID” and sign in.
Select “Password and Security” on the left side of the page. You may be asked to answer one or more security questions before continuing. Forgot the answers?
If you see a list of three security questions, your account has the option to use a rescue address.
Accounts that have fewer than three questions don't have and don't need a rescue address.
Accounts that use two-step verification don't have and don't need a rescue address or security questions.
    Add a rescue address:
Select Add Email Address, then enter your rescue address. Apple will send a verification email to that address. Didn't receive the email?
Follow the instructions in the email to verify the address. If you don't verify the address, security-related email continues to go to your primary address.
    Edit a rescue address:
Select Edit next to the address, then enter the new address. Apple will send a verification email to that address. Didn't receive the email?
Follow the instructions in the email to verify the address. If you don't verify the address, security-related email continues to go to your primary address.
Delete a rescue address: Select Delete next to the address.
    Cheers,

  • Changing my Primary email account

Over a year ago, I changed my name and created a new BT email address to reflect this (a secondary account).
The old (primary account) is therfore no longer used by me or anyone else. At the time, I thought I had asked for the new email account to be made the Primary one, but I recently noticed that this had not happened eg the registration email for my sign-up to BT Digital Vault was addressed to my old name! I really do not want this.
Can someone please advise me if and how a secondary account can be made into the Primary Account?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well, I had a reply to my email - someone had tried to telephone me at home, but I was out at work. So I emailed a response (using my BT webmail from work) and included a screenshot of my Account and Billing information which still shows the Primary ID as the old email address.
I then had a phone call to my mobile asking me to hold while I was put through to someone else. After a minute listening to Peer Gynt I spoke to a lady and I was able to confirm (again) what I wanted doing to change my Primary ID. She assured me that this had already been done and my "new" email was showing on their systems as the Primary one. I asked why that did not show when I clicked on Accounts and Billing from that email account, but she did not have an answer. I then asked if she could delete the old account. She went away for a short while to check how, but returned to say that it could not be done by her. As I do not seem to have Primary ID rights showing on my account login, she suggested just leaving the "old" account alone for 90 days after which it would automatically be deleted (?).
OK, so I accepted this, but on checking my account this evening, it is still not showing as the Primary ID.
I'll mark this as "Solved" but I only have BT's word for that and do not have my own online evidence!

  • Re: Changing my Primary email account

My partner died recently and I have taken over the phone/broadband account however I have so far failed to change the primary email address from his to mine.  After being send backwards and forwards between the bereavement section, orders and technical support I tried the live chat facility and was assured that it would be done within 24-48 hours and I would receive a phone call to confirm.  Still no joy and I've got enough to deal with at present without this hassle.

If you would like to contact one of the UK based BT Care Team who moderate this forum, they should be able to help you.
They can be contacted using this link BT Care Team
They normally respond by phone or e-mail, within three working days, however you should get an immediate confirmation, with a tracking number.

  • Primary email account disappeared

    Hello --
I set up my two email accounts shortly after buying my iPhone six days ago and they've been working fine. Until this evening, when I discovered that my primary account simply vanished. I'm quite certain I didn't go into Settings, then scroll down to Mail, then tap that account and hit the big red "delete" button.
Apologies for being snarky, but I've spent an hour trying to get it back online again (to no avail), will now be without access to my email all day tomorrow and I really don't want this to happen again. Any ideas on how to ensure it doesn't get nuked in the future?
    Many thanks,
    Sean

I've never heard of or experienced an email account on the iPhone just disappearing but it sounds as if that's what happened to you. I'm assuming this is not a company phone using an Exchange account?
Try resetting your iPhone by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
Then try setting up the account.
If this doesn't work, you can try to restore from your backup but you'll likely need to restore as new.

  • Primary Email Account

I was trying to setup a new email address while keeping the old one so I could notify people of my email change.  I tried adding a new user but the system would not accept my user name.  Then when I went to primary user, the system accept the user name but it accidentally replaced the old email which is now in hold status.  I still want to receive emails from my old address so I don't lose this important information.  Im going through a divorce and its essential that I can retrieve my email messages associated with the old email account and if possible access those old messages.  Is there ANY way to keep this old email account or to at least forward all emails to my new account?  I really need to keep the entire old account because it had messages that I may need to access.  Any help is greatly appreciated!!!( fyi-I already called Comcast and they said just to check each month to see if I can add the held account.  Of course, I didn't like their answer.  Surely, there is an easier way to get this back.

Call back to 1-800 comcast and tell them the deleted the username in error.  They should be able to give it back to you now.
Post back if they still say no,

I would also highly recommend that you open a free email program such as GMail or Thunderbird and use it for important email.

  • I can't remember the password to my email acount i opened itunes with, or the itunes password affiliated with that email account? How do I change my primary email account?

I opened my iTunes account with an e-mail address I no longer use, and I can not authorize my new computer to access my iPhone without the iTunes password affiliated with my no longer in use e-mail account. The problem is I can't remember the iTunes password that goes with that account. And the account I no longer use is my primary account. Is there a way around this to where I can change my primary account or at least take the old account off of iTunes???
