  • Using purchased iTunes music for videos.

Probably not posting this in the right place... but I don't have the time to look throughout this vast library of information...
    Simple Question....
When trying to create videos from my video camera, is it possible to import music from iTunes into the video? If so, could you tell me where I can learn how to do it?
Thanks in advance, and thanks for your patience in advance.

Doubtful, Protected tracks from the iTunes store cannot be played outside of iTunes and we cannot discuss any methods to convert them. You can burn protected tracks to a Normal audio CD but thats as far as we can go.

  • Making iPhoto Default for Safari

How do I make iPhoto my default for the images I download in Safari? I don't want to keep changing the folder I download into everytime I download something. Can't I just have an option to download images to iPhoto everytime? Also how can I make iPhoto my default for all images?
I'm a new Mac user, can you tell? LOL
    Thanks,
    Barb

When you download files in a browser, you never specify what application is supposed to open it. In Mac OS X, each type of file (.GIF, .PNG, .JPG, etc.) has a specific default application, which is automatically assigned to the file, although you can change those defaults if you want.
The problem with iPhoto is that it cannot work with files not already in its library; and only certain types of files can be imported by it. So the answer to your question is that there is no completely automatic way to move files into iPhoto. I don't think even AppleScript can really help you much here.
Sorry for the bad news. You can still import image files by just dragging them into iPhoto folders when it is open, however. That should be easy enough.

  • Making itunes default audio player

my XP account is set with admin privilages.
When start itunes under my account, I get message saying itunes has detected not default audio player and asks if I want to make it such.
When answer yes, I get message saying I don't have enough access privaleges for that operation.
What privaleges does one need to do this?

    hi y'all!
what happens if you go into the "set program defaults" area of your Add/Remove Software, and toggle the default media player settings in there a few times?
(i'm not sure if this actually works, but i keep suggesting it to people and the threads keep going silent ... so i figure it might be worth a shot.)

  • Making iPhoto default for syncing

My iPhone 5s has always default synced to iPhoto perfectly.  Today, a new window from dropbox popped up and I thought I had clicked the right button. But...Now my camera photos won't sync to iPhoto, so I'm wondering how to reassign iPhoto as the default sync application for my camera photos.  In other words, my iPhone can DOWNLOAD photos from iPhoto right now, but doesn't seem to be UPLOADING them automatically.  How do I get the phone to do that?

Launch the Image Capture app in your Applications folder.
Connect the iPhone to your Mac.
Bottom left corner of the Image Capture window select: iPhoto
If it's not available in the list, click Other than navigate to your Applications folder and select iPhoto.

  • Any way to change default point where iTunes creates thumbnail for videos?

Is there any way to change the default point in time where iTunes creates its own auto-generated thumbnail previews for videos when you drag them into your Library and view them all using the "Movies" section in the left panel?
So when you look at them all using Cover Flow view, for example.
I know you change the thumbnail for each video after the fact, or even batch-add thumbnail artwork for several videos at once, but that's not what I'm after...
I have a WHOLE LOAD of videos that are non-sensically named (Y1_D1-4, etc.), and I want to import them all into iTunes.
Of course I will also need to change the NAMES of these movies as well.
They are actually TV shows, which illustrates the following point:
What all these "movies" have in common is that their intro sequences are all EXACTLY the same length, before they then show the title of the particular show.
Now, if I could get iTunes to use this point in time as it's setting for creating default thumbnails, that would help me in two ways:
Firstly, it would create the thumbnail that I want, and secondly, it would also show me the title of the show, so I could easily re-name the file there and then, without having to scrub back and forth, to find the name of the show.
    Any clues anyone...?

I don't have a direct answer to your question, but you can speed up what you're doing by pressing the "return" key after the first click instead of pausing, then clicking a second time.

  • Copyright laws with itunes for video productions...

i want to sell some dvds of some slideshow/movie productions i have produced. i want, at this time, to sell them as a fundraiser for my church but would like to continue making more productions for profit.
I use my own photos for these but have used music from itunes.
how does one buy a piece of music - compensate the artist/musician - and use it for one's own production?
    thx
    deb

Double-click your Hard Drive icon to open the window. Then double-click the Library icon inside. Do the same to the Audio icon and so on.
My details in the first answer I gave are the "shorthand" way of describing this process.
GarageBand has thousands of audio loops, some only a second long and others several seconds. If you can't use it to make a proper composition you can often string together or repeat several loops which will give you a musical atmosphere for the scene in the video.
Remember that you don't need to have music playing continuously in the background. This is generally a bad technique and was popular mainly in rather poor films made 50 or more years ago. It probably stemmed from the old silent movies that needed a continuous musical (usually piano) background to set the atmosphere of a film in the absence of sound.
Also, amateurs frequently use music at full volume. If you look at a professional Hollywood type film's credits you will see a list of songs etc. as long as your arm, yet you never noticed them. This is because they are often played at an extremely low level, often bordering on the inaudible, and yet it is sufficient to give viewers the subliminal musical message.

  • How to make iMovie the default for importing from video camera?

I successfully imported 5 or 6 mini discs from the video camera, then on the next download attempt I saw a pop-up box. The box said something like "what program do you want as the default for downloading?" I was thinking iMovie, but apparently clicked iTunes (too many iTerms), and now when I put the camera into PC CONNECT mode, iMovie won't start up as it had before. How do iReverse my mistake and make iMovie the default again.
P.S. - I already tried Preferences in iMovie and in Finder.

If you are talking about having the default be Hebrew-Qwerty, then just make sure that in system preferences/language & text/input sources you have only one box checked, the one for Hebrew-Qwerty.
There is also an opportunity to choose this during initial setup, you have to click on a button to have it show you all the keyboard options, I can't remember.

  • Itunes Equalizer not working for video - only affecting songs

I have noticed that any Itunes equalizer settings that I select only affect songs in my itunes library. Videos are not affected at all by the equalizer settings. This means if I have a very dull sounding video I cannot use the equalizer to improve the audio. Does anyone know how to make the equalizer affect videos within itunes. Thanks in advance

Apple does not care. You have already bought their product and that's all that matters... They got your money and they're happy; you don't have to be. Sadly, all you've paid for is a nice logo on the back of what should be an amazing device.
Only buy an iPod/iPad/iPhone/iDevice if you are trying to impress your friends. Don't buy one if you want to be impressed, because this will not be the case. It will serve no purpose beyond making you look as though you have money to throw away.
But, since you have already given them your hard-earned money, I suggest you don't use an EQ setting. "Off" works best as it produces the least amount of distortion on the iDevices I've tried.
Hope this helps and "enjoy" your Apple experience.

  • Is it possible to "partition" Iphone or Ipad when syncing?  What I would like to do is set up Itunes to use say 15GB for photos 15GB for music and 15 GB for video.  Any help would be appreciated. Thx

I am using a Widows 7 PC with the latest Itunes.  I would like to alot hard disc space on my 64GB Ipad2 as follows  15GB for music, 15GB for Video and 15GB for photos. I would then like Itunes to autofill from my PC. Can this be done? The same question also applies to my Iphone4. Thanks in advance

To my knowledge the iPod can only be used as a secondary monitor since you have to boot up the Mac and turn on the secondary display. You would still need a KB and pointing device for the Mac
However, you can log into the Mini from an iOS device like an iPad using app like LogMeIn, GoTo MyPC or TeamViewer on both the Mac and the iPad. You use the touch screen on the iPad for all control of the Mac.
As you said, that would be tedious for a lot of typing but you could use a BT keyboard for the iPad.

  • Making Adobe 7.0.5 the default for .pdf files

I was advised that the way to get Adobe 7.0.5 to be the default, instead of 5.0, was to delete the Adobe applications & files in my system, library, and user folders, including the 7.0.5 app. itself. Then, after everything relating to Adobe is gone, I should re-install 7.0.5 and it would become the default.
I also heard that Spotlight won't find every Adobe component or extention, so I'd have to do a detailed search and delete each one that way.
    Does this sound right?
Can't I just delete the 5.0 folder in the Applications (Mac OS 9) folder and have everthing associated with 5.0 gone? Isn't that the beauty of having a Mac?
    Thanks,
    Greg
    PowerBook G4 15"   Mac OS X (10.4.2)   1.5 GHz, 1.5 GB RAM

    Hi Greg
You were poorly advised. Deleting Adobe apps is a headache and completely irrelevant when it comes to making an app the default for a file type.
Control-click a .pdf file, choose Get Info. In the Info window click the Open With drop down list, choose the app you want, and then click Change All underneath it.
That should do it. You might find that there is more than one type of .pdf file and you might need to perform this action again at some time, but this should do the job.
And yes, you can just delete the Acrobat Reader 5.0 folder.

  • Multiple iTunes Libraries - One for Music and One for Videos

Because my laptop's hard drive's filling up with videos, I'd like to movie them to a library on an external drive. Is it possible to have two libraries, one for music and the other for videos, and have iTunes keep them organized, or will I have to do it manually?

Click here and follow the instructions.

  • Does iTunes have any hidden picture controls for video playback (e.g. contrast, brightness) ?

Does iTunes have any hidden picture controls for video playback (e.g. contrast, brightness) ?
I haven’t been able to find any.
Since the .m4v file type appears to prevent any video bought or rented from the iTunes Store from being played using any other program the lack of these picture controls - if indeed they are lacking - make it seriously deficient as a video player.

Thanks for the rapid response to my enquiry.
I know that it’s possible to adjust the monitor’s performance via System Preferences but it is rather long-winded and I’d rather not alter the settings for the entire screen (and then have to change them all back once finished) when it’s only the video playback window that needs adjustment.
Since iTunes provides various options using the Equalizer for adjusting sound playback it seems rather odd that they don’t have a similar panel for video.
    Regarding QuickTime.
Apparently earlier versions (such as 7) had picture controls but the current version (10.4) does not.
I assume Apple are phasing out QT whose development seems to have stopped - or rather gone backwards since it now lacks capabilities it once had - and intend in future to treat iTunes as their universal media player which no doubt makes sense from their point of view.
I wasn’t aware of the .m4v file type when I made my first and probably last video purchase via iTunes yesterday and didn’t realise that it would restrict my options for playback so completely.
The experience has really put me off buying any additional video from the iTunes Store.
    Back to DVDs.
