Making itunes movie into idvd to burn. won't encode.

When trying to encode my idvd, the bar doesn't fill in as if it were loading. it looks like it is a gray shade. How do i fix this?

Sorry, but what do you mean by an "iTunes movie". Do you mean a movie you purchased from the iTunes Store? If so, those are copy-protected, and the movie studios will not allow them to be burned to video DVD.
If that's not what you mean, please post back and clarify the source of the content you're trying to burn in iDVD.
Regards.

The current Apple thinking is that the entire world has access to fast broadband and wants to distribute home movies to friends and relatives via download (iCloud) rather than mailing them a DVD. The fact that nothing could be further from the truth has so far had no effect on this policy. If you scream and shout loudly enough down the phone Apple may send you a free copy of iDVD. That worked for some, but is now said to have been withdrawn by Apple. Also, you can complain bitterly here, perhaps suggesting that Apple could have provided a choice between using iCloud and burning DVDs:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
Whilst Macs with a Superdrive continue to be able to burn video DVDs, the software for so doing, iDVD, is no longer included in the iLife bundle that comes with OS 10.7 Lion (which also omitted iWeb) or will come with OS 10.8 Mountain Lion. And it is no longer included in the iLife 11 from the online Apple Store: http://www.apple.com/ilife/. Your only solution is to look on Amazon or eBay and try to get an older version that includes iDVD.
However, the vastly more expensive FCPX can burn a DVD without iDVD or DVD Studio Pro involvement, but lack the themes etc of iDVD.

  • How to get FCE movie into iDVD?

    Hi Folks!
I have a movie that I created in FCE and would like to burn it onto a DVD. When I open iDVD, I don't seem to have access to the movie file that I created. iDVD looks for the file inside iLife. Is there a way I can put the FCE movie into iLife, or is there another way I can burn a DVD from my FCE file?
    Thanks very much!
    Vixter

iDVD looks in your /Movies folder (not 'inside iLife' as you mentioned).
When you export your movie from FCE, save it to your /Movies folder. Then it will show up in the iDVD Media pane, under the Movies folder.
You can also import your movie into iDVD by doing *File > Import > Video* or by dragging the movie (from wherever it is saved on your hard drive) onto the _iDVD main window_ or a _drop zone_ in an iDVD template. Don't try to drop it into the iDVD Media pane - that won't work.

  • Problem when droing quicktime movie into idvd

    Hi,
i have created a movie in final cut express and exported it using quick time movie. i then drop this into idvd and burn the disc. Although when previewing the footage in final cut express everything looks ok when i play the movie from the disc it judders as though every other frame is missing. Can anyone help?
    Paul

    Hi,
i have recorded a video in what appears to by dv pal not hd. ( the video was given to me) i then had to import it onto final cut express using handbrake software. This was imported as dv pal. After creating the video i have exported to an external hard drive using quick time movie. I have then dropped this into idvd. Then when the disc is cut the image judders really bad. When viewing this on the mac prior to burning the disc the image doesn't have the same judder, at lest nowhere near as bad.

  • Help Please ::: Quicktime .mov into iDVD 5 playback or encode problem issue

Originally Imageready files burned into Quicktime. Importing Quicktime .mov into iDVD results in project which looked great in preview, but after burning images were elongated, flattened. I am stumped, especially given preview results would indicate no such problems but unsure where to analyze on the DVD burn end to check. Any tips on what/where to check? Have tried re-importing original ImageReady (Photoshop) files into new Quicktime .mov (original project was done on OS 9 fyi). But no change in results.. any help greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the feedback. I wasn't privy to the process that converted these files originally but suspected the theory on compression/codec initially used.. may re-convert. Also will try Disk Imaging... seems that this is not an uncommon problem in the iDVD 5 world...

  • Importing a movie (mov) into iDVD 16.9

I have been attempting to import a movie (mov) into iDVD. The movie is 16.9 aspect ratio and every time I import it into iDVD it defaults tp 4.3 even though I set it in the beginning within iDVD at 16.9.
    Can someone help me

    Hi
There are in two places You need to set 16x9
    • First when You Create a new project
    • Then under Project Info (top row menu)
This can jump back to 4x3 if You select to use such a theme - then just go up and change it back again
    SAVE AS A DISKIMAGE
Test this first - to see that all plays as You want it
    Then first burn Your DVD

  • FCE movie into iDVD?

Can a FCE movie be exported as a Quick Time movie into iDVD08? How?
When I try to put the QTmovie into iDVD the following message appears:
"The movie could not br opened."
"The file is not a movie file."

I am not able to get a movie into iDVD. Here is my procedure, which is the same as stated on pages 1015 and 1016 in the FCE user manual:
    1) I open the FCE timeline of my 26 minute video.
    2) I go to File > Export > Quick Time Movie.
    3) In the window that opens, I name the movie, specify a location (FC Exp projects folder) and check "Make Movie Self Contained". Then click Save
    4) After exporting completes, I find in the FCE projects folder TWO QTicons of my movie labeled av.mov1, av.mov 2, and a thumbnail showing the first frame of my FCE video.
    5) In a iDVD page that I have prepared, with completed drop zones, I go to Project > Add Movie which puts a box with the words "Add Movie" on the iDVD page.
    6) When I drag either of the two QT files listed above in 4) from the FCE projects folder onto the iDVD page they will not stay, but rather jump back to the FCE projects folder.
    7) However, when I drag the thumbnail of the first frame of my video onto the iDVD page it remains. However, this is a FCE file, not a QT file of my movie, and does not support converting my iDVD file into an image for later burning.

  • Importing a movie into iDVD from FCE

I am perplexed. In the iDVD - Movies display, there are shown half a dozen movies. The other couple of dozen movie files which do appear in Finder - Movies are not listed in iDVD. Nor will the movies in Finder-Movies drag over to iDVD. I clicked on the yellow triangle which appears in the "insert movie" box in the theme, clicked 'import' and it told me iDVD does not support that action. So how do I get a movie from Finder-Movies into iDVD? I did not have this trouble with iMovie.
This is my first completed FCE movie. And things were going so well.

To import movies into iDVD you may use the File/Import/Video... command, after selecting the theme you want to use for the DVD menu.
If a movie in the Import dialog window cannot be imported, probably it has a non standard format, and for sure it was not exported from FCE. Any movie exported from FCE with Export/Quicktime Movie (the only correct method to get a movie from FCE to iDVD) may be imported into iDVD.
So I suggest you review the procedure you used to export from FCE and try again.

  • Quicktime movies into iDVD

When I drag my movies into iDVD, it shows the names of the files on the main screen. How do I do away with all the names.
And how can I get the movie to play through without stoping after each one.
I'm using 8 little quicktime movies of my son.

    Hi David,
    Welcome to the Discussion.
If you have QuickTime Pro, you can concatenate them one after another to form a long QT movie, and then import this to iDVD. If you don't have QT Pro, you can also use iMovie to import and chain these movies together into one iMovie project, and then use this iMovie project in iDVD.

  • Burning ITunes Movie in IDVD

Is it possible to burn a movie downloaded in the ITunes store using IDVD?

    Hi K
Only way I would try and ONLY with material that's not under Copyprotection law.
I would connect my Mac S-video out or via iPod to a VHS VCR recorder. From
this to an analog/digitalconverter or Camera with video trough or tape on a
    miniDV tape.
    Then import into iMovie.
Copy protection signal will probably stop this but if not You have to follow law
    anyhow.

  • Transfering Digital camcorder movies into iDVD & burning into DVDRW

    Hi all
I need the right direction of transferring my Digital8mm movies from my Digital Sony camcorder into iDVD movies. How many hours can I get into a DVDRW and what's a good method on creating a nice family DVD movie? I"ll definitely have to get a 200 or 500 gb HDD to store movies and Music files.
    thanks any help,
    Jim

First off, I DON'T recommend using RW media for anything you'd like to last and be playable for a while.
For single layer discs, use Verbatim or Maxell DVD-R discs.
Using iDVD you can fit approximately 60 minutes of content on a single layer disc in the 'Best Performance' mode or 120 minutes on a double layer disc.
You can fit approximately 120 minutes of content on a single layer disc in the 'Best Quality' mode or 240 minutes on a double layer disc.

  • Big help needed with FCP3 Movie into iDVD

    Hi there
I have completed a 8.30 min film in FCP 3 and want to export it to the best
quality for DVD , When the finished film is exported as a DV Strem it is
about 3,6GB but when it is placed into iDVD it only say its takes up 0.6 GB ,
and loses quality , What can I do, to keep its original quality and file size ??
    Cheers

Export out of FCP 3 as a Final Cut Pro Movie, self contained. Do NOT export as a DV Stream.
Open iDVD. Import the Final Cut Pro movie and burn the DVD.
When it is burned to DVD, compression will occur. It is compressed into MPEG-2 so that it is viewable on your DVD player.

  • Putting more than 1 movie into iDVD

This may seem a stupid question but I have made one movie with English subtitles in it for my company, what I would like to do now is copy the original iMovie and insert say German and French subtitles so I would end up with maybe 3 or 4 iMovies (each have 4 chapters), so the question is, could I bring those individual iMovies into iDVD and make one multi-lingual DVD where the end user can click on his/her langauge?
The movies are about 12 minutes long so should fit on one DVD OK.
Any help would be much appreciated.

    Yes yes yes yes.
This is what I believe iDVD does best.
Launch iDVD and use optimize to select a theme, I prefer the simple ones like but choice is personal (chacun a son gout or whatever they say in France!!!!)
You can then use import to put each of your movies on the screen and you can edit the titles so that the main header could be the project and each button could specify a language.
I don't think you will find this difficult.
    Good luck.

  • Can't put movie into iDVD

Hi, i was trying to add a video clip that is about 30 seconds long into my iDVD project.
So I hit the + button and selected "add movie". A box appeared saying "add movie here". So i double clicked and on the right hand side in the Media> Movies box, nothing appeared. The "movies" box was highlighted under iphoto. So i went into iphoto to make sure that the video clip was in there. It was. But it wasn't showing up. So then I went to Finder>All Movies> and there it was. I opened it up and it opened with Quicktime.
So does anyone know why I am not able to add this clip to my project?
    Thanks so much

    Hi
How about finding Your movie icon and just drop this into iDVD.
iDVD can't handle all various types of movie file formats so I would try
to get it into iMovie first then drop this movie icon into iDVD.

  • How to put iTunes movies into iCloud

I have several movies in my iTunes account that are shown as not being backed up on my iTunes account. How do I get these movies into my iCloud account so that I can delete them off of my iMac? (They are taking up a lot of storage space)

If you purchased them from the iTunes store, they are already in iCloud.  If not, you can't put them there.  Before you delete them, check iTunes in the Cloud availability by country for movies here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5085 to be sure it is available in your country.  If so, you can redownload them in the future as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519.
The only risk you are taking is that in order to download them in the future them must still be available in the iTunes store, and it must be permitted by the studio (you might want to check each movie in the iTunes store to be sure redownloading is permitted).
