Making javascript partially editable in template

Hello,
I have a template with a bunch of javascript and I want to define just part of it as an editable region. No matter what my selection is, however, when I select Insert -> Template Objects -> Editable Region, it will make all the javascript (in <head>) editable. If I move the editable region tags by hand, I get an error.
Is this the expected behavior? Is there any way to make just part of the javascript editable?
Thanks.

Is this the expected behavior?
Yes.
Is there any way to make just part of the javascript editable?
No.  It's all or nothing.  Everything between the <script> tags is considered a single entity.  You can't break it apart with Editable regions.

  • Can't make comments editable on template child pages

Is there a way to make comments editable on template child pages. When making editable regions, comments are not included. I need to make comments editable on child pages. How do I do this.
    Thank you,
    Jim

Open your Template.dwt file.  Add an editable region around your comments section.
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="comments" -->
    <p>Comments go inside here...</p>
    <p>Comments go inside here...</p>
    <!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
Save your template.  Allow DW to update your child pages.

  • Incontext editing and templates

    Hi
I´ve been trying to find documentation about the
interaction between ICE and regular Dreamweaver templates without
any success. Is it still possible to edit master templates locally
and change e.g. a menu for a complete site even if some pages has
been edited via the ICE interface online?

    Hello Simon,
InContext Editing regions can only be applied (on child
pages) on regions that have been marked as editable in the template
    – the .dwt page. On the other hand, only the modifications
that are made in Dreamweaver outside the template regions (in the
master .dwt file) are propagated to all child pages. Thus, when a
change is propagated, it won’t interact in any way with the
sections of the page that were modified by InContext Editing.
So, if the menu you want to change is not in an editable
region (in the template .dwt page), everything should work just
fine. The change will propagate to all pages based on that
template, and modifications made via InContext Editing will remain
    intact.
Also, as a general rule of thumb, before modifying the master
template, you should make sure to download/"get" the most recent
version of the site from the server. Additionally, if your client
is updating the site via InContext Editing while you are making
changes locally in Dreamweaver, you will overwrite any changes your
client made when you upload the site again.
Please let me know if this answers your question, or if you
    need clarification.
We intend to provide a tutorial on working with Dreamweaver
templates in the near future. I will post an announcement in the
    forums when this is available.
    Best regards,
    Corey

  • Spry menu editing in template

I am a newbie to DW CS3 and have been searching for an answer
in the forum to why I cannot select and edit my Spry navigation
menu now that it resides in the template file. When I go to edit
the template and click on where the Spry bar is, all I get is the
first menu item outlined in blue and no Spry editor in the
Properties menu. What am I missing here?

Thanks for the reply Murray. Being new to the forum, I will
not attempt to attach the file/code for you to see.

  • Unable to edit document template in SharePoint 2013

We have uploaded a set of templates that users can select from the drop down list in the Document field in the Document Library.  We now need to edit one of these document templates.
We follow the procedure and make the edits which changes the template but when we then select that template from the drop down list, the edits have not been actioned.
    Can anyone please assist?

    Hi,
As I understand, The modification was not saved back to the template.
How do you edit the document template?
Check if the URL of the template is right. You can go to the site setting->site content type->click the content type you want to edit->advanced setting->edit the template->open the template, and click file->to check if the URL under the template is right.
As a workaround, when you edit the template you can save the template in the local computer, and you can upload the template you have saved in the advanced setting for the content type.
The article below is about how to create Document Templates for Document Libraries in SharePoint 2010, it also can work in SharePoint 2013.

  • In Pages I used to be able to edit a template and "save a version" to update the template. Now i have to rename the template to save the changes. Why is this happening? what happen to "save a version"? its no longer an option under "file".

In Pages, In the past, I was able to edit a template and "save a version" to update the template. Now i have to rename the template to save the changes. Why is this happening? what happen to "save a version"? its no longer an option under "file". And I can no longer open the actual template, when template is clicked, it automaticaly opens an "untitled" version???

In your description you say the first document opens as the Title you gave it.
Templates always open as Untitled so it sounds like you have saved a regular document, perhaps into your templates folder which is possible.
Since you have already worked on it and it has been previously saved, Lion will now Save for you and Save a Version is available
The other document does open as Untitled so sounds like a real template and as Peggy has pointed out will not have either Revert nor Save a Version until you Save it and have changed something in it.
This is a classic example of just how Apple's supposedly "simplification" of the process, is leading to confusion of what has happened. That the conditions and resulting actions from those conditions is so convoluted says it all.
It all reminds me of the Monty Python Life of Brian sketch with the "simplified" John Cleese instructions to the class, as to if you have a brother in an older dorm whether to hang your hat and bag on the hooks provided. The trouble is Apple does not get the joke, that it is transforming itself into a frequently self contradictory bumbling bureacracy. The price of unchallenged self appointed geniushood.
The incoherent half baked stumbling juggernaut has reached new triumphs with its edict on enforced Sandboxing on developers when it is unable to follow even its own instructions.

  • Making selective fields editable in adobe form [using web dynpro]

    Hi,
I have displayed an adobe form using web dynpro application. But I have to make certain fields (not all fields) on this adobe form editable. I dont want to make this adobe form interactive because I dont have to save any data in database. The data entered in the editable fields will be saved as a pdf.
    What I did so far:
    1) The fields which I want as editable,  I have given there type as "User entered/ optional" & for rest of the fields I have given type as "Read only".
    2) In web dynpro, I have enabled the adobe
    3) This is not making the fields editable.
    4) If I write the following code in my webdynpro method WDDOMODIFYVIEW, then my data coming from adobe is not getting displayed even though the fields get selectively editable.
*data: LR_INTERACTIVE_FORM type ref to CL_WD_INTERACTIVE_FORM,
    *LR_METHOD_HANDLER type ref to IF_WD_IACTIVE_FORM_METHOD_HNDL.
    *check first_time = abap_true.
    *LR_INTERACTIVE_FORM ?= VIEW->GET_ELEMENT('adobe').
    *LR_METHOD_HANDLER ?= LR_INTERACTIVE_FORM->_METHOD_HANDLER.
    *LR_METHOD_HANDLER->SET_LEGACY_EDITING_ENABLED( abap_true ).
    Any inputs regarding this??
    Thanks & Regards.

    Hi,
Like I had mentioned using the following code in my webdynpro method WDDOMODIFYVIEW, my data coming from adobe form was not getting displayed even though the fields get selectively editable.
*data: LR_INTERACTIVE_FORM type ref to CL_WD_INTERACTIVE_FORM,
    *LR_METHOD_HANDLER type ref to IF_WD_IACTIVE_FORM_METHOD_HNDL.
    *check first_time = abap_true.
    *LR_INTERACTIVE_FORM ?= VIEW->GET_ELEMENT('adobe').
    *LR_METHOD_HANDLER ?= LR_INTERACTIVE_FORM->_METHOD_HANDLER.
    *LR_METHOD_HANDLER->SET_LEGACY_EDITING_ENABLED( abap_true ).
So I kept this code & I also kept the Interface type "ABAP Dictionary based".
Additionally in Webdynpro, I used adobe form generated FM to get the adobe content & passed it to the "content" parameter of my adobe component in webdynpro.
    Thanks & Regards.

  • How to create editable PDF template for XML Publisher reports

    Hi,
I have got a requirement to have some editable fields in one report whose output is in PDF format.
I tried looking and saw this can be done using the XML Publisher report and using PDF template.
But I got only Adobe Acrobat Reader and it does not have the facility to create Form fields.. Can you let me know what software I need in order to create the editable PDF Template.
In the user guide, it didnot mention anything regarding this.
Can I create editable PDF report using RTF template or do i have to got for PDF template only?
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks

    Hi,
To edit PDF template , u need Acrobat writer, which is not free .
I am still wondering what is this ?
"" Can I create editable PDF report using RTF template ?? "".
What is editable PDF report. ?
i think what you tried to mention is ,
can the PDF output from xml publisher is editable ?
If that is the question , so here is some points,
If you have Acrobat Writer or prof.edition, you can edit all the PDF documents irrespective of being from where it is generated.
To make you understand more of XMLP.
You create RTF template in word, so that , after merging with xml you can have multiple output formats like PDF, XLS, EFT,.....

  • Editable PDF Template for Proposals etc

I'm a complete newb when it comes to acrobat so let me try and explain what I'm trying to do.
My dad has his own business and he wants to be able to fill out all his proposals, statements and etc online. So what I'm trying to do is create a template based off of his printed proposals and make it so all he has to do is fill out the name, description and amount due. So I need an editable PDF file that he can fill out and then save as a new file (all filled out with the information he put in) that is uneditable, which will be presented to the client.
I tried adding form fields but I couldnt figure out how to save it so it would be uneditable by the client.
Hopefully, I explained that clearly. By the way I have the adobe master suite incase any other programs will help me. Thanks in advanced and sorry for my newbness.

  • How do you edit the template image that appears at the top only in portrait mode?

I am using a customized version of the iBooks Author template which has the space image. I have replaced the images for the book cover, chapter and section. But I noticed that when you rotate the ipad to view the entire TOC, the original space image is still there. How can I edit the template image that appears at the top of the Table of Contents only when you rotate the ipad in portrait view?

I just tried w/that template - switched to Portrait mode...tapped once to select that image....cut - gone. Switched to Landscape...not there. Back to portrait...still gone.
    What process did you use?
Can you repeat your issue with a fresh book?

  • Do you have to upload all new pages if you edited the template file?

I've edited a template in Dreamweaver and applied all changes to pages that use this template.
Previously, I had been uploading the templates onto my server, but after realizing that uploading the edited template to the web the pages didn't change.
When you edit the template in Dreamweaver shouldn't it automatically pull from the new template when you look at the pages online? OR do you have to upload each new page to your server that used that template?
    or in other words..
Does the webpage pull the information from the template in Dreamweaver or from the server?
    Thank you.

Any pages that have been updated after the template has been updated will need to be uploaded to the server. The pages do not automatically "connect" to the template and reflect it's rendering while on the server - that would require Server Side Includes or a dynamic server-side language (like PHP or ASP .NET) .

  • Editting Joomla Templates in Dreamweaver

I got my site and everything set up in Dreamweaver to my local server, I can view it in live view via index.php and when I go into live code to look at the code for stuff I want to change, then when I go to turn live code off to edit any changes, it brings me right back to the index.php code. I'd like to be able to easily find the files and code I need to edit at any given time since I don't know where most things are located.
This is the template I have

  • Editing a template

I don't have Contribute on my computer but my client does. I
created the site in Dreamweaver. I thought he would be able to edit
a template page because a copy resides on the server. When he tried
to edit the file he gets a message "This file cannot be displayed
in the Contribute web browser." I don't have 'enable Contribute
compaitbility' checked on the site definition because I don't think
there is much work that I will be doning on the site. Can templates
be edited in Contribute? And, if so, what do I need to do to allow
    that to happen?

Before you update a template file there's a few thinsg that
    make the process go smoothly:
    1. Ideally have the user publish all draft or new pages.
    2. Make sure you have synchronized your local copy of the
website in Dreamweaver with the remote server.
    3. Once you've done the synchronize rebuild Dreamweaver's
    Site Cache.
    4. Update the template file, and allow Dreamweaver to check
out and update all the pages using the template. If feasible you
can check out all the pages that use the template first; there 's
no need to check out the dependent images etc.
    5. Do another synchronize, this time putting all the new
local files onto the remote server.
    6. Check in all the files that were checked out in step 4.
The Contribute user should get the latest copy of the
template when they start up, but make sure they do not have the
"Don't connect to websites at startup" option checked.
