Making more HD space on my mini

Hi guys
Can anyone tell me what would be the best make space on my mac. I have 17.99Gb space out of a 74.21GB capacity on my HD. I already have an external 250GIG HD. But I am wanting to make more space on my mac. I have already transferred big files like images and video's that I need to my external HD. But I am wondering how else I can free space on the mac HD without having to install additional software to do this?
Thanks in advance.

If you don't use GarageBand, there is a lot of stuff in
Library > Application Support > GarageBand
that could go -- or be moved to another drive.
Note that this "Library" is the one inside your Macintosh HD icon, not the one inside your Home folder.

Thank you all for the help. I truly apreciate it. I have since reset my ipad for the second time by myself and it is ok now. I have a different problem at this time. My photo stream on icloud is greyed out and there are no backups for my photos. My camera roll and my photostream are both on my ipad, but don't show up in my set of folders on my device when trying to download or copy to my pc. It used to before I reset the ipad. I now have an iphone 4s, and hope to save up for a mac for artwork, but the response I recieved from apple tech is making me think twice. I asked either about the outlook mail dilemma or the photosteam problem, whichever it was I was asked if it was on the ipad or the pc that it was greyed out and I said on the pc and they hung up. I didn't get the chance to tell them that it was greyed out in icloud also.  I solved the mail dilemma by using microsoft skydrive, since outlook is not used with windows 7, that solved the contacts, mail, reminders, calendars and notes. I had to figure that out by myself. Unfortunately without beingf able to browse my ipad's folders freely, I can't do anything about the photos. How do I get icloud to save my stream if it doesn't see it? I don't know of anyone with a mac, or I would see if their machine would see the folder. I'm thinking maybe I missed something in setting up. I have a bunch of folders that show that are imported folders, but there are a lot of them, some with only one picture in them. That's not what I would have done if I put in folders, but i am coming from being a total MS pc person to trying to work with apple. Things don't work the same and I'm trying to learn. Any help is appreciated.

  • Making more room on my Ipod

I have removed a bunch of thing on my ipods playlist but it does not seem to be making more space. What do I need to do to free up space.
    thanks

Removing songs from a playlist doesn't free up space, playlists are just links to songs. They need to be deleted from the iPod's Music library: Deleting songs or playlists from your iPod

  • No space on my mini

I just received my mini as a gift a couple of months ago and everything was great at first. All songs I got from itunes (only about 50 total) went straight to the mini and I was only using about 228MB of space. My mini is a 4GB. Well now I cannot add any more songs to my ipod, I receive a message that there is not enough free space. My ipod is showing 3.49GB used. I actually erased all songs from the ipod so I could start all over and it still says the same thing. Can someone please help me? I really don't want to have to send it back. Thanks.

Several issues going on here, Jen.
You'll need to 'Add' the songs back into your iTunes Library:
First, make sure that iTunes is correctly looking in the right Folder for your song files:
--- Be certain that you know the current location of your music files (best to confirm this)
--- In iTunes choose: Edit==>Preferences==>Advanced tab
--- Select 'Change' and browse to the music folder in your PC drive (if it isn’t already)
--- Click OK to save that setting
--- If a dialog box pops up asking if you want iTunes to rename the files, click "yes"
    Then:
-- In iTunes: File==>Add Folder to Library
-- Browse to your main iTunes folder and select it
You can now determine how large the songs are - both individually and in total. If the individual size of the files are 'normal' (usually 3-6MB in filesize and 2-6 minutes in length), then you do not need to 'Convert' the songs. If they are in a larger, Lossless format, then converting them can be done.
If the song files are fine, then you most likely have an iPod 'memory management' issue. This seems to happen from time to time. I have not read a good explanation, but I suspect that the iPod's operating system isn't the best at memory management.
These are the ‘standard’ fist steps to this type of issue:
First, make sure that you have emptied the Recycle Bin or the ‘Trash’ when the iPod is connected and seen by the computer.
Then try Resetting Your iPod to correct this problem. It may take several attempts.
If that does not solve the problem, then Restore Your iPod and put the music back on your iPod, from iTunes.

  • Does TC give Extra HDD space for Mac Mini?

I use MAC Mini and its HDD is getting close to full. Purchasing Time Capsule means I have extra more HDD for Data? or Is just for the Backup. What should I get for extra HDD space?

Time Capsule is designed for your backups.
If the Mac Mini needs more storage space, you might be able to pull the internal hard drive and add a higher capacity drive. A shop can give you the details on this.
Another option would be to add an external drive to the Mini connected by USB or FireWire. Buy as much capacity as you can, especially if you plan to add movies, music, photos. etc.  Drives seem to have a way of filling up much faster than might have expected.
If you decide to get the TIme Capsule for backups, it will backup both the Mac Mini and the external hard drive.
(If you do not have backups, there will almost surely be a day when you wish you did).

Hi guys, so we have 2 iPhones in my house, both on the same Apple ID so that my mum and I can share everything. I have just got an iPad mini, and would like to use iMessage on it with my phone number, but the iPad only picks up other more recently added number (not mine, my mums) when I go to message settings. Is there a way to make the iPad default to other number?

  • How can I move/combine toolbars on the same line to gain more screen space ??

In IE you can lock or unlock toolbars and grag them and move to another line to gain more screen space & still have all you need up there.
How can I do this in Fire-fox ??

You can only combine the content of several toolbars on one toolbar if the toolbars support that feature. If that is possible then you can do that via the View > Toolbars > Customize window or via the options of that toolbar (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions).

  • Can I install more memory on a mac mini

Can I install more memory on a mac mini?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Of course. You can upgrade the RAM always that you do not have a Late 2014 Mac mini (I am not sure that you can install more RAM, and if you can, it will void the warranty), and you can purchase more RAM at OWC or Crucial.

Make sure you are not having an infinite loop.
    Hope this helps

buy an external HD   1TB for $60
NO notebook is a mass storage device, so dont try to turn it into one, it doesnt work that way.
Unless youre using it every couple weeks, its static data and should be on an external HD
In the case of a Macbook Air or Macbook Pro Retina with ‘limited’ storage on the SSD, this distinction becomes more important in that in an ever rapidly increasing file-size world, you keep vital large media files, pics, video, PDF collections, music off your SSD and archived on external storage, for sake of the necessary room for your system to have free space to operate, store future applications and general workspace.  You should never be put in the position of considering “deleting things” on your macbook SSD in order to ‘make space’.
Professionals who create and import very large amounts of data have almost no change in the available space on their computers internal HD because they are constantly archiving data to arrays of external or networked HD.
Or in the case of the consumer this means you keep folders for large imported or created data and you ritually offload and archive this data for safekeeping, not only to safeguard the data in case your macbook has a HD crash, or gets stolen, but importantly in keeping the ‘breathing room’ open for your computer to operate, expand, create files, add applications, for your APPS to create temp files, and for general operation.

  • How to adjust Boot Camp partition for more Mac space?

    Hello,
    TLDR Version:
When I setup Boot Camp, I intended to stay in Windows. I’ve now migrated to Mac and want more disc space allocated to it. How can I adjust this in Boot Camp without deleting and reinstalling Windows?
    Extended Version:
I have had a 21.5” iMac for right at a year now, and have been running Windows 95% of the time prior to last week. I decided that I was spending more time on the Mac partition and deciding that it was better in my eyes than Windows, and decided to install all of my productivity software (Microsoft Office/Adobe Creative Suite) on it in an effort to wean myself off of Windows.
Unfortunately, when I set the computer up, I did a 90/10 partition install of Windows on Boot Camp, with 90% of the disc space being allocated to Windows. Obviously, this will no longer work for me, and working from my files in the Boot Camp partition is both limited, and irritating. I would like to adjust the partition the other way; probably an 85/15 partition with the 85% being Mac OSX and the remainder being Windows. Because Mac OSX is the boot disc, it appears as though it can be made smaller, but not larger in Boot Camp.
    1. Is there a way to adjust the partition size without having to delete the Windows partition and reinstall?
    2. Is the Airport Time Capsule a suitable device to temporarily dump my data on while I adjust the partition? I’ve got 99% of my data on a separate external HDD from a data backup a month ago, but would rather not have to make another backup.
    I appreciate any information.
    Best regards,
    Ryan

You may want to look at Winclone or Camptune. There is Gparted/Live CD for the adventurous souls.
