Making Nomad IIc appear as a Drive on my Compu

Does anyone know if it is possible to configure the Nomad IIc in windows so it will appear as a dri've on my computer. I am looking for a way to copy songs to my MP3 player using Windows Explorer.
Thanks
Mark Thomas

It always needs drivers unfortunately. You might be able to get it to appear as a Device in Windows Explorer at best.

  • I need to install application and driver for Nomad IIc but computer says I'm not connect

I tried downloading the application, driver, and plug-in for Nomad IIc. When I try to install the driver my computer says my player is <EM>not</EM> connected but my player says it <EM>is</EM> connected. Help!

Did you download the correct driver and appllication?
Check that you have the following files.
    . Driver - Drv_nm2.exe
    2. MediaSource application - CMS_PCAPP_LB_2_03_29.exe
    3. Nomad Pack - CMS_N2Plugins__00_0.exe
Do not connect the player when installing the driver. You will be prompted to connect the player when the installation is near to completion.
After which, install the MediaSource application follow by the Nomad Pack.

  • Nomad iic - No specific driver on site anymo

Under Portable Audio, Digital MP3 Players, I don't see the Nomad iic anymore. This may be causing my problem which is I get a blue/aqua scree over the list of songs in my Nomad iic. So If I choose a C dri've or something, I see the list. But when I pick my Nomad memory, I get the light blue/aqua background hiding my list.
I installed the Nomad II 32 mb driver and Microsoft 2000 said it found a better driver and insists on installing an USB Oem driver. Maybe I have the wrong driver, but I do not see one for the iiC, specifically.
Any idea what the hell is going on?

The driver for Nomad IIc is still available for download at our driver download website.

  • Nomad IIc: HOW can I transfer music onto my new playe

    Hi.
I'm totally new here (I also posted this message in another thread which had already been started about my model of player before I had figured out how to post a NEW thread...) <IMG height=6 src="http://forums.creative.com/i/smilies/6x6_smiley-sad.gif" width=6 border=0> sorry
I got a Creative "NOMAD IIc" player and its model number is: DAP-6406. So, I think I already found somewhere that "DAP" stands for Digital Audio Player... that means it is categorized as an "MP3 Player" of sorts? (that's not really important though....)
I am not sure if there's a 'card' in it or not... but I'm suspecting that there isn't; I found the photographs of my player under the "Support" section of the creativelabs.com site, and can't seem to see a card.
What I would like to know is:
*CAN THE PLAYER STILL PLAY SONGS/FUNCTION IF THERE IS NO CARD IN IT?*
Because (my dad just gave it to me but doesn't know anything about how it works, it had a previous owner and all that..) it DOES have songs on it already! What am I going to have to do to add new songs from my computer to it's I have the connection cord, but no CD software for it.. my computer searched for a driver/software for the player when I connected it to the computer using the USB port/dri've (?) but found no software to be installed, or something along those lines...
Is there some sort of software that I can find on a website (the Creative Labs website?) somewhere that I can load onto my computer to be able to transfer songs to this player that I've got?
I know I'm a total newbie.... SORRY for this! <IMG height=6 src="http://forums.creative.com/i/smilies/6x6_smiley-sad.gif" width=6 border=0> but I would like to be able to use this player to have portable music to bring with me IF AT ALL POSSIBLE (?)
I guess I'm just asking what I'm going to need to do... *don't even really know the next step (if there is one that I can take without having to aqquire a card or CD software or something like that)
THANKS VERY MUCH (anyone who could help!)
    ~Sara (unipsychogirl)

As per the FAQ, go to?Nomadworld.com downloads,?select the relevant player, and all the available software will be listed.

  • Nomad IIc & Vi

    Hello,
My apologies if there is another thread about this--I did search and was unable to turn up anything.
I am trying to connect my Nomad IIc to my new Windows Vista machine--HP Pavilion laptop. Basically, I can't get the driver or MediaSource software to install or the player to connect to the laptop.
I understand this is an old mp3 player and may not play nice with this new OS, but any help would be appreciated. I love my old Nomad IIc and it's served me well, I'd like to keep using it.
When I tried to install the latest version of the driver, it crashed. Windows said the solution was to find and install CTDrvins.exe. (I have no idea what that is, but a google search said it was something to do with a camera? I don't want to mess around with my system too much if I don't have to.) I tried to install MediaSource anyway, just to check if I could, and it predictably couldn't find the device and therefore would not install. And I've tried it on all 3 USB ports, just in case.
So MediaSource can't properly install because it can't connect, and the driver doesn't work at all, it simply crashes.
Per another thread in this forum, I tried to install Drv_nm2.exe (driver) first (that's what crashes), then CMS_PCAPP_LB_2_03_29.exe (MediaSource) and because of the problems there I never made it to step 3 CMS_N2Plugins__00_0.exe (nomad pack).
And further to the puzzle, Windows seems to think the driver installed despite the installer crashes, because it shows up in the control panel/programs. When I try to uninstall via that, the uninstaller crashes too! Yet, in the background, the uninstaller merrily does its job and removes the driver from the control panel/programs.
I downloaded all the files above off the Creative web site because when I tried to use the original Nomad IIc CDROM it said the disc only supported previous versions of Windows OS.
I can give the specs on the PC if that's helpful. Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer help.

Hi, thank you for your reply & sorry it took long to get back, I didn't get a notification that the thread had a reply.
When you say install in WinXP compatible, do you mean when I actually run the installer, run the installer in compatibility mode? Or something else? Sorry to sound daft.

creative no longer supports or sells or manufactures smart media cards for the nomad
I dun remember creative manufacturing this type of card.... hmmm...... you can use any brand of smart media as long it's within the capacity range supported by the player. I remember it's somewhere around 64MB or 32MB and not any thing higher than that.

  • Nomad IIc upgr

I am new to the forums and I'm in need of some help. I am trying to upgrade my daughter's
Nomad IIc mp3 player to accept a 28 Smart Media card. I am using Windows XP.
I installed the upgrade drivers and went through the wizard which reported success. When
I use the Sync function in Windows Media Player it shows that there is only a 32mg card.
What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help you can provide. Yvonne

    Hankey,
The Nomad IIc does not need the firmware update in order to use 28MB Smart Media cards, so it won't be necessary to upgrade the firmware. The cards go in with the contacts facing down.

  • Nomad IIc MP3 player - flash memory capac

I have an old Nomad IIc mp3 player. Does anyone know what the capacity for a flash memory card on it is? The manual says you can add upto 28 mb ( this was 5 years ago). I'd like to know if I can use a GB card in it.
    thank you

There was a firmware update that added support for 28MB SmartMedia:

  • Firefox Appears as a drive?

    Title explains it all.
I install Firefox and now every time I start it up it appears as a drive right under "Macintosh HD" and my iMac shortcut. Any reason why this would be happening?
    Any help would be great.

Hi Matthew...If you still see FireFox as a drive then you haven't actually installed it.
When you double click on the drive icon for FireFox a Finder window should open and show you that the icon for FireFox is to be dragged and dropped in you Applications folder to complete the install...then eject the drive icon for FF by dragging it to the trash...finished

    Thank you

you can not use a sd card. it has to be a smart media card. i have a 28mb smart media card and it works just fine.

  • Nomad IIc - Firmware Download PW Protect

I found a link (from Creative Tech Support) for Bios upgrade of the Nomad IIc. When I click the link, it asks for username and password? The UN and PW for this forum does not allow me access.
I have version .07, and don't see any mention of what the latest version is. I want to add a SmartMedia card for 28 to my IIc, but I want to make sure it will work. Also, I found that the latest version of MediaSource does not see my IIc - I went back a version it does see it. I figure the bios upgrade might help that too. If someone has a working DL link to the upgrade I'd appreciate it.

  • Single external hard drive appearing as two drives in Disk Utility

I have a single 3TB hard drive in an enclosure that is appearing as two phyiscal hard drives in Disk Utility (1 "drive" is 2.2 TB, the other "drive is 800MB, give or take). I attached a screen shot so you all can see what I see. This is definitely a single drive (as opposed to some of those MyBook options that actually have two physical drives in one enclosure).
I'm aware that I can concatenate the drives together to make one logical volume, but I'm trying to figure out why on earth this happened.
To give you a picture of the drive's history, it was previously mounted in a Synology 4 bay NAS as part of a RAID 5 configuration. A few weeks ago, the Synology told me that this disk was having issues, so I replaced it, ran a few rounds of disk repair, and it has been working fine since. I'm not going to put it back in my NAS, since the replacement drive is working fine, and I'd like to use this disk for completely non-essential data (as you can see from the screen shot, I have a few smaller drives in use for 'scratch' work, and I'd like to free those up to use as photo/essential data backups).
As stated before, I'm really just trying to figure out how this could happen, and if there's a way to have the single drive be actually recognized as a single drive, without having to concat or anything.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thank you.
As I originally stated, I took this disk out when it gave me a generic "drive-has-problems" warning, and then put it into a separate (lets call it a quarantine) enclosure, and ran extensive testing and 'repairing,' without actually finding any problems.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm considering the initial error message to be a 'false-positive' of sorts, due to repeated diagnostics not being able to find any acutal errors, logically or physically.
That being said, I have no reason to 'replace' this drive, as it's original function has already been replaced by a new drive. As I originally stated (twice, actually), I'm really just trying to figure out how this might have happened, and if there are any steps (aside from just concat-ing the two 'disks') to to have the disk function as one physical, rather than two physical, disks.

  • Cant change tap to click settings because boot camp does not appear in the drive or task bar.

Late 2008 macbook pro 8Gb ram 750Gb HDD 2.8Ghz intel duo-core with OSX 10.9 (partition with Windows 7 ultamate)
I am experiancing a whole host of issues with installing windows on my mac, frst of all the genuine product key that I bought directly from microsoft does not work. Also my trackpad is partially broken so I can only tap to click which means that I have to use my external trackpad to use the computer in windows 7. Therefore I have tried to set windows 7 to tap to click but could not find the way to change that and the fourms said I could change it throuh the Bootcamp settings but bootcamp doesent appear anywhere in the search field and the icon is missing from the task bar and so is the arrow for showing hidden icons. As it is I can't get anywhere with this machine. Will someone please help me!

  • HP TouchPad does not appear as USB drive on mac os x lion

    Hi.
Before the last update I was on 3.0.4 version of the webOS and my HP TouchPad would appear as a USB drive on my mac (running OSX Lion).  But since the 3.0.5 update when I plug in the TouchPad and select to mount it as a USB drive it complains that it is not recognised and gives me the option to "Initialise ..."
    What is going on?
Post relates to: Pre 2 p102ueu (Unlocked EU)

It seems to me that 10.7.3 update, or something that was updated in the past two months is causing this issue.  It's an osx issue, as I know for certain my unit will mount on an older version of the os, but not on my recently updated Lion.
It used to work on Lion, but no more.  Preware will load however - but the device will not mount.
