Making Open in New Tab the default?
We're using Safari 3.0.4, and while I'm happy with the Command-click or right-click-and-select options to make a link open in a new tab, my son wants to know if there's a way to make "open in new tab" the default action when simply clicking on ANY link.
It seems that option exists right now for links within other apps, but not for links within Safari itself. Has anyone figured out a way to do this?
Thanks,
John Bertram

When I open a new Tab the page defaults to an unwanted page.
When I open a new Tab the page defaults to: "http://www.somoto.com/139/%7B666DAB7E-0C0D-4161-9E9E-F4170E4A3EB9%7D?s_src=newtab". My homepage is set to something entirely different. Is it possible to change this default to something of my own choosing?

When I open a new tab, the cursor doesn't go automatically into the navigation field anymore, since I have reinstalled Firefox yesterday. Is there a fix?
Did you remove your personal data when uninstalling and have created a new default profile folder?
It is possible that you previously had an extension that set focus to the location bar.

When I select "open a new tab" the tab opens in a different window than the one I'm using. This is release 11.0, and did not happen in 10.0
Hi,
Please check if '''Open new windows in a new tab instead''' is enabled in '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Options''' > '''Tabs'''. [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Options%20window%20-%20Tabs%20panel Options > Tabs]. If the problem persists, please also check if this happens in a [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles new profile]. If the new profile is okay, you can later [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Recovering%20important%20data%20from%20an%20old%20profile?s=profile&r=1&e=sph&as=s copy the needed personal data] from the old profile. Firefox stores your personal data and settings in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder another location (profile folder)] separate from its [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installation_directory files/folder]. A new profile would have the default Firefox settings ('''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Options%20window '''Options'''], and [http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config about:config] ), and usually would also be empty of any '''Extensions''' and themes ('''Appearance''') in Tools > Add-ons) and their settings. When I open a new tab, the new tab used to show shots of 6 or so of the last sites I'd viewed, so I could easily click on one and go to it. Now it shows a blank tab and I have to type the URL of the page I want. How can I change it back?
Did you have the Google Toolbar installed?

When I link to an external site, the link does not work, if I right click "Open in new tab" the link works.
I have not changed any of my preferences and they look like they are as I would have left them.
I tried resetting Firefox and deleting the preference file, no change.
By the way, I hate that the tabs are on top and not where they belong above the pages they are for. There should still be a way in Firefox to put them back without having to use an add-in. -

Whenever I open a new tab, I want the new page to open to the same setting as my Home Page (in my case, Google). Instead it takes me to Bing. Even my Home Page reverts to Bing after I've set it to Google.
The default New Tab in Firefox is a blank page and there is no built-in option to change that.
*CTRL+left-click the Home icon will open a new tab to your set home page.
**See --> http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page
*This Add-on will open a new tab when clicking the new tab "+" icon (or when clicking New Tab from the menu) to whatever page you set in the options for the add-on:

If I have opened firefox, and I am on my igoogle home page, and if I click the add page button to open a new window, the new pages opens to a blank internet page where I have to type in the new web address I want to go to. This started happening after I added a record button to record internet video and audio. I ended up removing the record program and buttons, but now I cannot figure out how to get a new page to open at my home page address of igoogle.
Hi,
You may have to change the setting in the application itself or disable the app in '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Add-ons''', click '''Extensions''' on the left. If that doesn't work, try to uninstall the application. Please also see [http://funmoods.com/terms this] (the third bulleted point). -
I use Windows Vista, and I use the default Alt+Shift+PrtScn high contrast mode for white text on a black background. I only notice when I click a link that opens a new tab or open a tab via the mouse wheel that becomes the main tab. I can't switch tabs fast enough if I click a link that doesn't open as the main tab to tell if the problem persists. The duration of the non-high contrast background is only as long as the page takes to load. There does not seem to be much lag, but the lack of high contrast is painful enough that I have to close my eyes, so I'm not sure. On a related note, the new status information does not high contrast either, making it impossible for me to read.

I used to be able to type in a URL or search when opening a new tab. Now I only get the "panes" that show most recently opened tabs. I have been having to go to alternative browsers to go to websites not in my top 9 or to open new windows, which is a pain.
Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. <br>
'''Note''': ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.

This only started yesterday, but it really bugs me. I can't figure out how to get rid of it!
There's a hidden setting for new tabs. Here's how to access it:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''newtab''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the '''browser.newtab.url''' preference and enter your preferred page:
* ''Page thumbnails (default)'' => about:newtab
* ''Blank tab'' => about:blank
* ''Built-in Firefox home page'' => about:home
* ''Any other page'' => full URL to the page
Press Ctrl+t to open a new tab and verify that it worked. Fixed? -
Firefox just updated to version 14.0.1. When I clicked on one of my book,marks from the listing, nothing happened. The page did not load. If I right click on the bookmark and choose " Open in a New Tab", the page loads in a new tab. None of my bookmarks will work by simplying clicking on them from the listing.
