Making pm-suspend call uswsusp [used to be: pm-suspend does nothing]
[EDIT]
So I have managed to get things working with uswsusp.
Suspend via: s2ram -f
Hibernate via: s2disk (when I boot out of this is hibernates again, when I boot out of the second hibernation it resumes... but neway, thats sort of the least of my problems here)
And this is all well and good, but pm-utils still does nothing, though I told it to use uswsusp as its SLEEP_MODULE. Basically, I am pretty sure the pm-utils is supposed to (among other things) work as an intelligent wrapper around either kernel, tuxonice(suspend2), or uswsusp sleep/hibernate methods. I think I should use the wrapper rather than hardcode the very simplistic s2disk and s2ram -f commands into the scripts called on power button / close lid events. Anyone know how to help make pm-utils use uswsusp (I know, the wiki page should tell me, I read it, I appear to have made a mistake).
[Original post: not really important nemore]
In an attempt to get either tuxonice or uswsusp to work on my 1000he, I appear to have broken pm-suspend. It now dows nothing. From this thread: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=58273 I tried this:
echo mem > /sys/power/state
Which suspends normally. I really want to get pm-suspend working again, especially because only after breaking it did I even notice that pm-hibernate also exists, and I did not even try pm-hibernate before failing to install tuxonice and uswsusp.
What exactly I did is, install tuxonice (suspend2) by following the wiki page, give up, switch back to my pre-ice kernel. Install uswsusp by following that wiki page (Suspend To Disk page), then uninstall both tuxonice, uswsusp AND hibernate-script. Now pm-suspend simply does nothing, though I don't see anything suspicious in /var/log/pm-suspend.log. Any ideas?

Yes... I have done that of course. However, being the bright and experienced user I am I completely failed to make any backup config files, and thus i'm not really sure what I have failed to revert. Most of my changes were in /etc/hibernate/*.conf and /etc/suspend.conf, but both of these got packaged into .pacsaves when I uninstalled tuxonice/uswsusp/hibernate-script, so I don't think they are whats breaking suspend. my only other changes were to /boot/grub/menu.lst which I have reverted, and /etc/mkinitcpio.conf (followed by a mkinitcpio -p <kernel>), which I /think/ I reverted, though I suppose that could be the problem. However, I am pretty sure the HOOKs I changed in there are used only for resume, not for suspend, so I doubt the changes would have rendered suspend useless. Seems like I forgot some sort of important change I made though... (/etc/pm/config.d/module I also created, changed, then deleted... ?? might have wrong path off the top of my head, not at my arch comp right now)

Cannot scan using CS5, Optional TWAIN plugin does nothing
I'm trying to figure out how to scan using CS5 (Master Collection, 32-bit for 32-bit Windows Vista). I found references to an optional plugin pack for Photosop, which supposedly has a TWAIN plugin that works for 32-bit Windows Vista. So, I downloaded it. But, it seems like such a hack pack. There nothing to launch (run) for an automatic install. There's just a duplicate set of bewildering instructions for "installing" each plugin.
The instructions included in the plugin pack has a section that says "TWAIN (Mac only)" and only lists instructions for a Mac. Near the top of the document is the entire list of plugins. A footnote below the list indicates that the plugins intended only for the Mac are marked with an asterisk. The TWAIN plugin is in the list, but not marked. The online documentation confirms that the TWAIN plugin in this pack works for 32-bit Windows. But, it does not reveal how to install or use it.
Before you ask, yes, I downloaded the right version. Thinking the two version might have been switched, I also downloaded the Mac version. But, I couldn't even open it.
Anyway, I found multiple blogs instructing to add the Twain_32.8BA file to the folder "%ProgramFiles%\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Plug-ins\Import-Export", launch Photoshop, then select File and Import. I'm not sure what was supposed to show up there, but nothing was added.
I know the scanner works, the scanner driver works, and the TWAIN driver works, since I can still use them with the much cheaper Serif software.
Any ideas?I finally resolved most of the issue. Long story short, the scanner wasn't connected. What an idiot! The long story appears below if you are interested.
I still cannot scan from the scanner. But, I'm confident it's not a Photoshop or TWAIN plugin issue. The only remaining issue with an Adobe product is the very sketchy instructions (or lack thereof) and "install" procedures involved with Adobe's "hack-pack".
Thanks to all who took time to respond.
The Long Story
After posting my question, I continued double-checking everything, including the Serif software, which now could not find the scanner.
The problem originated when I borrowed the USB cable from the scanner (a Lexmark X6100 series all-in-one). When I returned the cable to an impossible to see set of connections on the rear, it fit perfectly in the phone line-out jack.
Oblivious to the cable problem, I attempted to uninstall the Lexmark driver software. This caused a nightmare of registry changes, security issues, and reboots. The driver software had been tweaked to work with Windows Vista. But, nobody thought to update the uninstaller. In the midst of the computer problems, my telephone service goes out. Go figure.
I eventually stumbled upon a resolve to the telephone issue by disconnecting the phone system from the Lexmark. At this point I begin to get a little suspicious of the Lexmark being a cause for both problems. I checked the phone cable to the Lexmark. But, it seems fine. I reconnect it on both ends. Still, it causes a telephone issue. At a loss for that problem and having a temporary resolve for now, I continue working on the driver issue.
With the Lexmark software finally removed from my computer, I begin installing a slightly updated version, praying I don't have to ever uninstall it. But, it won't install, reporting the Lexmark has to be on and connected. Rechecking the USB connection, I can feel that the USB cable is a little loose. Then, it dawns on me that it could be plugged into the phone line-out. Feeling around for another jack, I find one, plug in the USB, get a much more appropriate fit, and voila!. The new device driver installs.
I launch the Serif software. And, now it's able to find the Lexmark. I launch Photoshop, select File and Import, and there appears a new item, "Lexmark X6100 series ...". Now, if I could only get it to actually work. -
I have an IPhone 6 I'm going on a cruise and I won't be making calls or using data I'm just wanting to use the camera ...is there something I can do to to turn these off?
All you need to do is turn on Airplane Mode. It's in the settings, or the easier way is to swipe up from the bottom to open the Control Center and turn on Airplane Mode there. It's the first button at the top, with the airplane icon.
When you turn on Airplane Mode all of your data is shut off. You can optionally turn on just Bluetooth and Wifi if you want; for example, if you wanted to use the cruise ship wifi without turning on your phone radio, or if you wanted to use a Bluetooth speaker or keyboard. But if you don't need all that just turn on Airplane Mode and leave Bluetooth and Wifi off. -
When making or receiving calls I can hear the person on the other end, but they cannot hear me unless I use the speaker option.
Look to the right in the "More Like This" box. Your issue has been addressed in countless posts. Always an act of forum courtesy to search before posting, FYI.
Best of luck. -
I have poor/no service on my iphone 6 in places that I do have service on my old iphone 5. Takes 10 minutes to send text and webpages will not load but load within seconds on the iphone 5 and forget making a phone call. How do i resolve this issue??
Hey kristiac,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, you have no service on the iPhone. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

Hi,
I recently bought my iPhone5 second hand off a friend. Having inserted my sim the O2 network logo and 3G symbols appear in the top left although there is no signal registered. I am also unable to make or receive calls as well as use the mobile internet.
The phone is registered to O2 so there is no network clash
THanksHello denman1991,
It sounds like your phone is not connecting to the cellular provider network, and you are also unable to connect to the Wi-Fi network. I would recommend these troubleshooting steps from the article named:
iPhone: Troubleshooting issues making or receiving calls
https://support.apple.com/kb/TS3406
Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings > Enable Airplane Mode, wait five seconds, then turn off airplane mode.
Check your phone settings:
Check your Do Not Disturb settings: Tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
Check for any blocked phone numbers: Tap Settings > Phone > Blocked.
See if Call Forwarding is turned on: Tap Settings > Phone > Call Forwarding.
Ensure that your software is up to date:
Check for a carrier settings update.
Check for an iOS software update.
Note: Some updates may require a Wi-Fi connection.
If the iPhone has a SIM card, reseat the SIM card.
If the iPhone 4 or iPhone 4s is on the Verizon network, dial *228 from the iPhone and select option 2 to update the Preferred Roaming List (PRL). The PRL determines the cellular towers the phone uses for cellular service, selecting those with the best signal strength.
Reset the network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Try to make or receive calls in another location.
Attempt to isolate to one network band:
If you're having the issue on LTE, disable LTE, if possible, and try again.
If you're having the issue on 3G/4G, disable 3G/4G, if possible, and try again.
Contact the carrier to check the following:
Your account is properly configured to use the specific iPhone that has the issue.
There are no localized service outages.
Your account doesn't have a billing-related block.
Your calls don't have errors on the carrier system.
Restore the phone as new.
Also, for your Wi-Fi network issues, I would recommend this article named:

Branch phone no audio when making outbound PSTN call - inbound and On-Net calls are good
I am trying a new setup. There are no other phones on branch A configured with CUCM so there is no comparison. I setup another phone in Branch B for comparison.
Scenario:
CUCM (ver9) in Main site
Main Site and Branch A site has VPN for WAN connectivity.
Main Site and Branch B site has VPN for WAN connectivity
Branch A phone is registered to Main site CUCM and configured to use same settings as Branch B phone. Branch B phone has no issues at all
Branch A no audio when making PSTN outbound call
Branch A audio is good when receiving INbound PSTN call and inbound/outbound On-Net call
I am not sure if it is a routing issue or something else. Below is an excerpt from the RTM logs which is attached. I believe issue is on this part after call connects where it shows media error but not sure what to do to correct it. Assuming Firewall is not an issue. If we cant find out what is wrong, i will start looking at the firewall.

Is this H323 or MGCP, what is the PSTN connectivity, SIP or PRI or FX0?
Might be helpful to post the router config. -
Making a VoIP call with the Cisco 837 ADSL router
I would greatly appreciate if could please provide some technical assistance to my questions below:
Is it possible to make a VoIP call between two 837 ADSL Cisco routers over a 1Mbps ADSL broadband connection?
If so, can I configure this VoIP connection using either a PPPoE or ATM WAN link?
Is it possible to make a VoIP call using a Cisco 837 Router while simultaneously surfing the Internet? In other words do I need two public IP addresses i.e. one for accessing the internet and one for making the VoIP call or is one static IP address obtained from my ISP sufficent.
It is possible to configure QoS parameters (e.g. RSVP, Voice precedence, Voice codec selection) on this 837 router using PPoE or can it only be done using an ATM WAN interface?
Does the Cisco 837 router support both the H.323 and SIP communication protocols? Do I need to purchase a certain IOS operating system version for VoIP calling?
Does the VoIP dial peers need to be configured with both a POTS and VoIP phone numbers or is only one number required?
Do I need to obtain a special VoIP number from my VoIP service provider? or can I use existing POTS numbers or made up numbers within the dial peers as this situation involves making a private VoIP call between two branch offices using 837 ADSL routers and not via a VoIP service provider.
Finally, can I use POTS ordinary telephones with the Cisco 837 for making VoIP calls or do I strictly need to purchase VoIP phones?
My apologies for the number of questions asked here but I currently need to know the technical ability of the Cisco ADSL 837 as I am thinking of employing these routers in my company organisation.
I await your feedback in due course.
Thanks,
Martin HealyHi,

Why can I only make calls when using speakrphone?
I can only make phone calls when using the speaker phone or headphones. The receiver can hear me although I can not hear them. I have only had the phone since Sat, have checked volume levels and tried adjusting during a phone call too.
Try making a call and turning the volume up using the buttons on the side of the phone. If that doesn't work, your iPhone is faulty. Take it to the nearest apple store or back where you bought it!

//Enable voice mode
send("AT+FCLASS=8");
expect("OK");
//Dial the number
send("ATDT"+number);
expect("OK");
//Choose encoding method //This is the default
send("AT+VSM=140,8000,0,0");
expect("OK");
// start sending audio data
send("AT+VTX");
expect("OK");
PlayAudio();
send("ATH");The size of my audio file is 100 kb.I'm using a 56 K intel externel voice modem connected to a serial port.I wonder if it's because the buffer is too big. If anyone tried this and succeded please correct me.
Thankyou in advance

TS3406 Problem with iPhone 5 making/receiving random calls ("butt dials")
My wife and I have iPhone 5's. Since last Friday, my phone has made and received random phone calls ("butt dials") including FaceTime calls. My wife's phone has even called itself. The only common denominator is that the person making the random call has an iPhone.
My phone and my wife's phone have the latest software (7.1.2) and we had the batteries changed under warranty through Apple last Friday. Any ideas?Hi becausewemust,
It sounds like you have sound issues with your iPhone only when using it as a phone, not at other times, is that correct? And you have already tried resetting the phone by turning it off and on. A very frustrating situation to be sure. Let’s see if we can get you up and running.
At this point I would suggest restoring the iPhone as a new device. See the steps in this article -

Problem making/receiving/disconnecting calls and p...
I was looking for a new phone to replace my old Samsung Star, but I was unable to justify this expense. So, I saw Nokia Lumia 710 with it's GPS software and hardware as part of the package. Windows phone looks so beautiful that I just bought it last march, 23th.
Now, verifying this forum I realize that my problem, some how, exists since January in Europe. As many people here I have problems to end a call, but in my case the call never completes and when I try to disconnect Lumia just does nothing beyond show "disconnecting" forever. The only way to recover control is turning Lumia off.
Its true that my carrier has a very weak signal where I live (at my apartment), but my old Samsung at least make and receive calls. Some times I must move near to the window to have a better reception, but works. With Lumia, different from what I was expecting (a premium Nokia quality signal - the best possible reception), some times just do not work! Some times people calls me and the phone do not ring. Some times I receive that screen offering me the opportunity to send a message like "I'm at a meeting" or something like that, but I do not have the opportunity to receive that call. This is very frequent since I bought this Nokia. Some times, when I make a call, Lumia pretend to call, pretend that the other person is connected, but, in fact, there is no calling sound. The phone remains mute all the time, there are no call. When I give up, I press "disconnect" and Lumia shows "disconnecting" but nothing happens. To recover phone control I must turn it off to try again. Once I was so angry that I press many buttons and Lumia freezes up completely and was needed to remove battery to turn off.
About GPS, that was my main excuse to expend a lot of money on a new phone: Nokia Lumia GPS is disappointing. Lumia GPS looks like loose satellite signals very frequently. I decided to make a comparison between my Lumia and my wife's iPad. Working totally offline, side by side at my wife's lap, while iPad was able to show immediately every turn I make, Lumia takes long time to realize that. In fact, most of time, Lumia just realize that I turn when I was reaching next corner. I'm using Nokia drive 2 and, in this test, since I don’t have a GPS software at iPad, I just leave Lumia and iPad with the map showing our position. I do not set a destination.
Finally, my last disappointment is about windows Phone and the “one account policy”. Really? They think people will be happy to give up from their messenger accounts or Xbox accounts to use Windows Phone? When I turn on my Lumia for the first time it asks me to enter or create a Microsoft account. I think about and I realize that I don’t want to add payment information to my very old Hotmail/messenger account, so, I create a new one. My mistake because soon I discover that Windows Phone do not let me choose a different account for Messenger or Xbox.
I call Nokia in Brazil to find a solution for my two main problems: making/receiving calls and the GPS performance. The only solution they can think about was reset my phone. I do that a few hours ago. This time I choose to enter my Messenger account to be able to chat with my friends, but, of course, I loose my Xbox id created with the other account.
“One account policy” is so “not smart” that is very hard to understand why they do that. The need to reset the device to choose another account is unbelievable. Mean while, with iPhone/iPad, to change accounts is so easy…
I will test my phone for the next few days to verify if reset solve all my problems, but right now I’m very disappointed.
(I hope you can understand my poor english).Reset Lumia 710 do not solved my problem. I was forced to send the device to technical support. Even if they was unable to reproduce the problems I faced at home, they did a flash reset (or something) and now my phone always ring when people call and I can end calls without a problem. For now those problems disappeared.

Incoming calls not using Bluetooth / Music tracks repeating
I've been having a problematic issue with Bluetooth since upgrading to iOS 7. I have my iPhone 5 paired with my 2013 Hyundai Elantra's Bluetooth system.
Outbound calls use Bluetooth just fine, as does Siri, but any incoming calls all use my iPhone's headset by default. I have to manually switch the phone's output back to my car's bluetooth in order to talk using my car's hands-free system... which really defeats the purpose of hands-free.
I'll note that this is happening both when my iPhone is plugged in via USB and listening to music on the car's stereo, as well as when the iPhone is simply idle in my pocket. I have not tested what happens when the car is playing my iPhone's music via Bluetooth (the audio quality is sub-par to a direct connection and doesn't display the artist/track/album on the console when playing via Bluetooth - ergo I rarely use it)
Secondly, I am having another issue, this time with playing music. I don't believe it's related to the above Bluetooth issue, but it may be related to my car.
Like I said above, I often use my Elanta's USB port to directly plug in my iPhone so I can a) listen to music on the car's stereo and b) skip tracks with the wheel-mounted controls. This all worked flawlessly with iOS 6.
Now, if I skip a track with my car's controls, the Music app will repeat that next track... over and over. When the song is completed, it will attempt to move on to the next song, then immediately backtrack and start playing the previous song again (you can tell so by watching the Music app. The album art will swipe over, then quickly swipe back). I have to manually skip forward to play a new song... Highly irritating.
I'll also note that skipping songs via the wheel-mounted controls is considerably slower than it was with iOS 6. It's definitely a couple seconds after I press a button before the next song starts to play. It used to be near-immediate.
Anyone else having either of these issues? Hopefully it's something Apple picks up on and fixes soon!Don't know if you got this yet, but I came here looking for answer. Since I just found one, figured I'd pass it on for others:
You have to set your phone's incoming calls to "headset" under accessibility. (Silly, I know, considering, if you hook up a bluetooth, it should automatically default there, but no ...) This walks you through:
