Making proyector adds a duplicate cast to my movie

Probably this is a known issue but I havent found a solution although I have searched the forum (normally that works wonders).
I have a project (desktop with multiplayer features but not shockwave) being developped under Director 11.5. When I publish it another cast which is not intended to be appears linked to my movie (ctrl+shift+C). The cast is a duplicate of one of my external casts (I have 1 internal, 6 external casts for now, adressed on prepare movie one by one to a relative movie path). The cast name coincidentially happens to be the "scripts" cast (the other casts are all diferent graphics for the program), which initially seemed that might have caused some issues because I saw duplicated scripts in the script window and that's kind of scarry at first. I just remove it everytime I publish the project and all goes well. That duplicated cast reference points to the same file as the original "scripts" cast. Well, it's not that big deal, and it doesnt make my program malfunction at all for now, but I would like to get rid of this if posible. I've ended up making very few compilations because of this. Is there any workaround?

I think the complicatons came from putting the basic code (actually all the code) in an external cast. I had done it in the past with older versions and all went well. But now I think it's much better to keep the code internal, as code normally will not ocuppy much storage space so it wont affect the performance, start-up of the executable. Being external was the reason I had to check "copy dependant files" always, which protected my casts (.cxt), which was not nice in this case. After making it internal I've published a couple of times with the option unchecked and copying the .cst manually later to their output folder and starts well (although as I said yesterday I have a "Director player error"; script error; continue yes|no, that I have to tackle). Also no nasty cast addings happen now
EDIT: no Director error in fact finally, my fault for not updating an xml file to in the output dir. Works perfectly now!

I enter misc. items in each metadata file, ie. document title, author, description, keywords, copyright notice, etc. Each image has it's own metadata file, with unique keywords, which are unique to that image. The keywords then show up on the right side of PSE organizer under 'imported keyword tags'. Then I can select a keyword, unique to that image and wa...la... that image only appears in organizer. I have been doing this for years (like probably 10). But this is the first time I have experienced the duplication issue.
Not adding any auto-adjustments in Organizer as far as I know.
The names are not duplicated in organizer, but appear as ie. scnr0122.jpg and scnr0122-1.jpg. But the '-1' is not found on my server. Apparently they are being added from another source. Is it possible they are being pulled from a cloud server, ie. creative cloud or revel?? I do have the same files on those cloud servers, but am not intentionally duplicating the import.

How to add chapters to exported Apple TV movies

(The process works with QuickTime 7.4 and Final Cut Express 4.0)
To add chapters to movies exported from FCE using the "Apple TV" preset in the Export menu:
In a text editor, like TextEdit in the Applications folder, type your list of chapters.
Make each item very short (preferably one word but no more than two or three words) and separate each item with a carriage return.
Choose Format/Make Plain Text.
Save the document as plain text.
In QuickTime Player, choose File > Open File, select the text file, and click Open.
Choose File > Export. In the Export pop-up menu, choose "Text to Text." In the Use pop-up menu, choose "Text with Descriptors."
Click Options. In the Text Export Settings dialog, select "Show Text, Descriptors, and Time"; select "Show time relative to start of Movie"; and set fractions of seconds to 1/30.
(The fractions really don't matter, we will change the value later)
Click OK, then click Save to create a text file with descriptors.
Open the exported list in your text editor, and open the target movie (formatted for Apple TV) in QuickTime Player.
Choose Window > Show Movie Inspector.
In QuickTime Player, drag the playhead on the timeline to find the first point in the movie where you want to begin a new chapter.
Use the Right and Left Arrow keys to step forward or backward a frame at a time as needed. Note the current time in the Inspector window.
In the text file, find the timeScale attribute and change to 24.46.
Next, find the first chapter title and change the timestamp just before that chapter title to the time you noted in the Inspector window.
Example: For a chapter called "one" that starts at 4 seconds, 21 frames into the movie, you would revise the text to look like this:

Ignore the textBox attribute.
Repeat steps until you've identified all the places in the movie that correspond to the chapter divisions and you've entered the proper timestamps in the text file.
Change the last timestamp (the one after the last chapter title in the text file) to match the duration of the movie.
Save the text file.
Open the text file in QuickTime Player.
Choose Edit > Select All, choose Edit > Copy.
Click in the target movie, make sure the playhead is at the beginning, choose Edit > "Add to Movie"
QuickTime adds the text track to the movie.
Choose Window > Show Movie Properties.
In the Properties window, select the video or audio track you want to associate with the chapter track, and click Other Settings.
Normally you would choose the main video track.
(alternatively, choose audio track from the Chapters pop-up menu. If you have a movie with alternate subtitle or sound tracks, you can create multiple chapter lists in different languages and set the appropriate subtitle or sound track as the owner of each chapter list. The chapter list will change to match the selected language.)
Select the text track.
Deselect the check box for the text track so that it doesn't display on top of the video.
The new track will still function as a chapter track.
Save the movie as a self-contained movie.
In the Finder, drag the movie to iTunes, and then Sync to Apple TV. The movie will play in Apple TV with Chapters!

You first need to add it to your computer's iTunes - which you can do either via File > Add File To Library or by dragging and dropping it over and onto iTunes. If it's not in a format that is supported by iTunes then you can use a program such as Handbrake (http://handbrake.fr) to convert it into an iTunes/iPad friendly format.
Once it's in iTunes you can try sycning it to the iPad via the Films/Movies tab that appears on the right-hand side of iTunes when you've selected the iPad 'device' on the left-hand side. If it won't transfer then try Advanced > Create iPad Version and try syncing that instead.

I had the same issue. What I did was save the movies on a thrid-party app like Download Manager Lite. Once downloaded, go back to itunes, go to your iDevice, go to apps and transfer the app, then scroll down and click on the app and from there you can send the movies to that app and WILL play. Can only hold up to 8 videos/movies (this is for iPod Touch 3G or better, iPhone 3s or better, iPad requires iOS 4.3 or better)

From other ipod (nano, classic): I don't remember.
If your just putting them on iTunes, it should show and play on iTunes no problem.

Try closing iMovie and trashing the file com.apple.iMovie.plist found in User/Library/Preferences. iMovie will creat a new .plist file on relaunch.
Update Quicktime to current version.
Then do a permissions repair using the Utilities/Disk Utility app on your Mac.
Make sure that you have sufficent free disk space for iMovie to operate. 15 to 25GB is a good range.
If you have any 3rd party plug-ins, try removing them to a different folder.

I want to add subtitles (srt files) to my movies ....

I want to add subtitles (srt files) to my movies and watched by apple TV. If I upgrade to QTPro 7 can I burn the subtitles to my movies (mkv, avi and mp4 files).
In the QT I have the subtitles option is always OFF, and if I watched in iTunes I have a ballon for CC and undetermined subtitles, but I just can watched them in iTunes if I go to Apple TV this option is not avalilable.
I want to add the srt file to my movie in order to watched any place with this option ON.
If I move to QTPro can I recode the file?
I use to have mkv, avi and mp4 files and the srt file for different languaje subtitles.

Making dynamic sprites from a cast member

Hello ,realy I am making a movie that it has the words and
the meanings and the pronounciation and the image of the word of 20
lessons ,realy I make a propertly list for the words and the
meanings for each chapter in a text document for each lesson and
retrievet the words and the meanings on the stage and assign the
them into separate sprites made by a text cast member ,Now I have a
problem ,the number of words and new words are not equal for each
lesson ,there fore I look for a way to make the sprites same as the
number of the words of each lesson from the cast member , is it
realy possible ?

I should change the content of the text members ,in this way when I

content ,But my problem is in this phase exactly ,for example if
the lesson 1 has 30 words and meaning and lesson 2 has 20 meaning
,one way is to predefined 30 sprites froem the cast memeber and use
object oritented programming that make just 20 new object for
lesson 1 (I can do it) but realy what is in mind is that ,is it
possible to make the sprites as needed? for example for lesson 1
make 30 sprites ,the somehow destroy them ,and for lessson 2 make
20 sprites?

Cannot Add SPN - Duplicate Found

Hello, I am trying to add a simple SPN. In the process, I believe I have deleted any duplicates for the SPN based on the User account and FQDN.
For example, I use -l switch to determine that there are no SPNs listed for

Making edits to a duplicate layer?

When working with healing brush or other tools on a portrait, what is the point of duplicating the layer and working on the duplicate layer? I understand that if I mess up I can throw the duplicate layer away, though now I have two duplicate layers. Is there a way to merge the two layers together? Maybe do some editing on one layer and more editing on the other layer, and when done, somehow have the layer underneath the top layer show through?

As a new Apple user I was disappointed for find that initial software did not contain the flexibility of Word. What to add to make it so? Apple says to use pages, numbers, and keynote OR alternatively openoffice.org OR Word for IMAC. As a user with limited needs I was looking for some basics like mail merge or templates as found in home and student applications. Reviews are mixed thus this question to the community. I think you are misinformed, if you want to use MS Office for Mac simply buy it and you can run Word, Excel, PowerPoint and even Outlook. You can easily locate the apps by navigating to Microsoft's web site or going to a brick and mortar store that sells Mac software. Apple Stores do not however you will find one online (Amazon, Ebay etc...) that does. For example:

I transferred all my music to my new computer, went to sync my iphone and the music library won't sync. It's like it's leaving the old library on and trying to add a duplicate one, keeps saying there isn't enough room. Help please?

Everything from my old computer is still in the music portion of my phone, I don't know how but it hasn't synced that part. I went through and edited the new library and there are fewer songs, it's telling my I don't have enough room on my phone. This is impossible when it is less music than I am currently holding. How do I get it to delete the old information and put on the new library?

How exactly was the music transferred to the new computer?
The correct way is to copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer. If it was transferred properly there are no issues with syncing to the iOS device.
