Making/receiving a call, mic problems

Hi,
I understand there are two mics on the iphone 4, which would explain my problem. I need a DIY fix if possible please.
When I'm making a call, the person im speaking to can only hear a extremely faint voice from me, so faint they would need to be in a sound proof room to hear me. If I switch to speaker phone they can hear me fine, as im guessing this uses the other mic located on the top of the iphone. I've seen a youtube fix for a mic which isn't working. Would this be the fix involving opening iphone and inserting a piece of card or plastic to create pressure on the chip?
Any comments or advice would be most grateful.

I was looking for a new phone to replace my old Samsung Star, but I was unable to justify this expense. So, I saw Nokia Lumia 710 with it's GPS software and hardware as part of the package. Windows phone looks so beautiful that I just bought it last march, 23th.
Now, verifying this forum I realize that my problem, some how, exists since January in Europe. As many people here I have problems to end a call, but in my case the call never completes and when I try to disconnect Lumia just does nothing beyond show "disconnecting" forever. The only way to recover control is turning Lumia off.
Its true that my carrier has a very weak signal where I live (at my apartment), but my old Samsung at least make and receive calls. Some times I must move near to the window to have a better reception, but works. With Lumia, different from what I was expecting (a premium Nokia quality signal - the best possible reception), some times just do not work! Some times people calls me and the phone do not ring. Some times I receive that screen offering me the opportunity to send a message like "I'm at a meeting" or something like that, but I do not have the opportunity to receive that call. This is very frequent since I bought this Nokia. Some times, when I make a call, Lumia pretend to call, pretend that the other person is connected, but, in fact, there is no calling sound. The phone remains mute all the time, there are no call. When I give up, I press "disconnect" and Lumia shows "disconnecting" but nothing happens. To recover phone control I must turn it off to try again. Once I was so angry that I press many buttons and Lumia freezes up completely and was needed to remove battery to turn off.
About GPS, that was my main excuse to expend a lot of money on a new phone: Nokia Lumia GPS is disappointing. Lumia GPS looks like loose satellite signals very frequently. I decided to make a comparison between my Lumia and my wife's iPad. Working totally offline, side by side at my wife's lap, while iPad was able to show immediately every turn I make, Lumia takes long time to realize that. In fact, most of time, Lumia just realize that I turn when I was reaching next corner. I'm using Nokia drive 2 and, in this test, since I don’t have a GPS software at iPad, I just leave Lumia and iPad with the map showing our position. I do not set a destination.
Finally, my last disappointment is about windows Phone and the “one account policy”. Really? They think people will be happy to give up from their messenger accounts or Xbox accounts to use Windows Phone? When I turn on my Lumia for the first time it asks me to enter or create a Microsoft account. I think about and I realize that I don’t want to add payment information to my very old Hotmail/messenger account, so, I create a new one. My mistake because soon I discover that Windows Phone do not let me choose a different account for Messenger or Xbox.
I call Nokia in Brazil to find a solution for my two main problems: making/receiving calls and the GPS performance. The only solution they can think about was reset my phone. I do that a few hours ago. This time I choose to enter my Messenger account to be able to chat with my friends, but, of course, I loose my Xbox id created with the other account.
“One account policy” is so “not smart” that is very hard to understand why they do that. The need to reset the device to choose another account is unbelievable. Mean while, with iPhone/iPad, to change accounts is so easy…
I will test my phone for the next few days to verify if reset solve all my problems, but right now I’m very disappointed.

Reset Lumia 710 do not solved my problem. I was forced to send the device to technical support. Even if they was unable to reproduce the problems I faced at home, they did a flash reset (or something) and now my phone always ring when people call and I can end calls without a problem. For now those problems disappeared.

TS3406 Problem with iPhone 5 making/receiving random calls ("butt dials")

My wife and I have iPhone 5's. Since last Friday, my phone has made and received random phone calls ("butt dials") including FaceTime calls. My wife's phone has even called itself. The only common denominator is that the person making the random call has an iPhone.
My phone and my wife's phone have the latest software (7.1.2) and we had the batteries changed under warranty through Apple last Friday. Any ideas?

It sounds like you have sound issues with your iPhone only when using it as a phone, not at other times, is that correct? And you have already tried resetting the phone by turning it off and on. A very frustrating situation to be sure. Let’s see if we can get you up and running.
At this point I would suggest restoring the iPhone as a new device. See the steps in this article -

Skype keeps crashing when making/receiving a call

When I make a call or receive a call on Skype it crashes. It seems to happen when either party clicks answer. IMs work fine but can't use the program for its main function.
Running Skype 7.0.0.102
Tried reinstalling still experiencing the problem.
Deleting the folder C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Skype does resolve the issue but it is only a temporary solution and not how to run Skype.
Included a DxDiag.txt file.

XSplit software is the only Video Capture device, and most likely conflicts with Skype.

Try to uninstall this application. Perhaps it will just be enough to unregister VHMediaCOM.dll module:

Iphone mic problem

People can't hear me either when they call me or when I call them.
I tested other apps that utilize the microphone – voice memo works, recording video records both audio and video.
However, when I am making/receiving a call – people can't hear me.
What can be the problem?
Even when i connect my phone via bluetooth to my car it doesn't work.

When making / receiving a call, I can only see part of the name (10 characters), if it is longer. Ideally, to see not only the name / surname as a whole, but also to other fields if they are (eg a company), for business is essential. Picture when I disconnected the call but did not help. Another problem: The Call Log contains only the last 20 , even if the settings of a month's worth.

That's already by default. If the name of the contact is exceeding 16 characters, it will be cut off on the screen once you call/receive a call from the said contact. Also, the device can only show the name of the contact when receiving/making a call. Including its other information (eg company) is beyond the support of your device.
With regard to the Call logs, that is unusual. try to perform a soft reset by dialing *#7780#. It should fix the problem.

Problems making & receiving calls

I have just been given a Nokia 95, I have inserted my vodafone contract sim card and everything works appart from making and receiving calls. I have contacted Vodafone and they say they can't help me it's a Nokia issue. Has anybody had this problem or can anybody help?
It displays the message call not allowed?

My sim card is fine and works in other phones.
Things I have tried so far:
Making sure all call barrings are inactive
Making sure all call diverts are inactive
Updating access points via a vodafone download
Updating the whole software of the phone via Nokia

When receiving phone calls, the background apps play through the speaker making it impossible to hear the person on the other line. How do i fix this? This started happening on my iphone 4 and now i have the same problem with my iphone 4s.

I once had a phone call in the middle of a trip. I was listening to my music and phone rang. It was work calling. I answered the phone and the music continued to play. I had to tell the person to hold, then i had to use multitask to find the app and manually turn it off. Once that was done, i retrurned to the phone call to find out that when i receive an email it too plays through the speaker while i am on the phone. Why wouldn't it mute these things while i am making a phone call? Is there a setting for this? It seems to me that this only happened since IOS 5, but i can't be 100%. What i am 100% on is the fact that it happened on my Iphone 4 and is now happening on my Iphone 4s.

The music continued to play with the iPod?
If so, when a call is received while listening to music with the iPod, when the call is answered the music should be paused. When ending the call, the music starts playing again from where is was paused.
There is no automatic mute with notifications for received email or messages while on a call and there is no setting for this.

Problems When Making/ Receiving Calls

My I phone will make calls but I can only hear the dialling tone when on loudspeaker.
I can only speak with people on loudspeaker (Where they can hear me and I can hear them)
The normal handset way I hear nothing.

This seems to be a widespread issue, I just finished reading a three page thread in another area of the forum.
Mine never worked right out of the box. Unfortunately, I didn't come to realize this until after I had left the AT&T store.
When making a conventional call, the person on the other end cannot hear me unless I switch to speakerphone. I have a scheduled appointment with Apple this morning, let's see what they say about it. Based on what I have read so far, it sounds like I will have to get a replacement.

I have the exact same problem. I just updated to 4.3.3 and now my inline controls on my earphones don't work. The earphones work, but the controls don't. It sounds like you are unable to make any calls, but you can recieve them, and everything else seems to work fine. I recommend you use the troubleshooting in the following article to help you get that resolved, named:
iPhone: Troubleshooting issues making or receiving calls
Follow the steps below to resolve this issue. Please test after each step.
Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings > Enable Airplane Mode, wait five seconds, then turn off airplane mode.
Check your phone settings:
Check your Do Not Disturb settings: Tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
Check for any blocked phone numbers: Tap Settings > Phone > Blocked.
See if Call Forwarding is turned on: Tap Settings > Phone > Call Forwarding.
Ensure that your software is up to date:
Check for a carrier settings update.
Check for an iOS software update.
Note: Some updates may require a Wi-Fi connection.
If the iPhone has a SIM card, reseat the SIM card.
If the iPhone 4 or iPhone 4s is on the Verizon network, dial *228 from the iPhone and select option 2 to update the Preferred Roaming List (PRL). The PRL determines the cellular towers the phone uses for cellular service, selecting those with the best signal strength.

Your account is properly configured to use the specific iPhone that has the issue.
There are no localized service outages.
Your account doesn't have a billing-related block.
Your calls don't have errors on the carrier system.
Restore the phone as new.
If the above steps don't resolve the issue, go to an Apple Retail Store, carrier, Apple Authorized Reseller, or contact AppleCare to send the phone in for service.

Very loud Static when first making or receiving a call

I am getting a Very loud Static (screeching sound) when first making or receiving a call 90% of the time. Most of the time if I move the slider to a different position it will quit. Other times I just have to call back. Anyone having this problem? Any solutions?

Have you made a call with the slider closed? If the issue still happens it could be a loose wire or connection, or a network problem since it only when making the first call.
I would take the device into the sprint store and have them do a network reprovision of the device. The network reprovision is a process where they delete the account on the network side and set it back up on the network side and program the phone with the new settings. If that does not resolve the issue then you can have the device warranty replaced right there at the sprint store.
