Making sure attached images and signatures appear in the body of sent email

The subject line says it all. I would like recipients of my mail to see the attachment/image or signature, within the body of the email where I have placed it.....or not if I so choose. Is this possible to control from the sender's end?....or is this also influenced by the receiver's mail settings and platform?
I know there are many posts that dance around this issue, but I have not found one that nails it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
PowerBook 17" & G4 Quicksilver desktop   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   Mail 1.3.11

The Mail.app displays all image/photo and single page PDF documents inline or viewed in place within the body of the message by default. Depending on the recipient's email client and available preference settings, such attachments may appear inline or viewed in place within the body of the message by default when the message is opened (as with the Mail.app) or as attached files only for which the sender has no control over.
If the recipient's email client is not the Mail.app but displays image/photo attachments inline or viewed in place, the attachments may not appear exactly where you placed them.
The only way to do what you want or get as close as possible is by using HTML formatting with embedded images and/or objects and no Mail.app version includes an HTML composer/editor.
RTF with Tiger Mail is HTML which allows for forwarding a message received that was composed in HTML keeping all intact. With Tiger, you can use the HTML editor/composer of choice with embedded images/objects, etc. and save the completed document.
Open the saved HTML document with Safari and at the Safari menu bar, go to File and select Mail Contents of This Page. A new Mail.app message will be launched and the HTML document viewed with Safari will be copied to the message which will be sent in its entirety.
You cannot do this with Jaguar or Panther Mail.

Yep! And if you absolutely need (or think you need) that functionality, it is worth every penny.
As Don already pointed out, exactly what the recipient sees will depend on how they've set up their machine and what unnecessary 3rd party apps they might've installed to display attachments the way they want.
In theory, that is true. In practice, Attachment Tamer will cause more of your messages to show up as plain-jane icons on the other end. The problem is, after all, people running Outlook 2003 and 2007. These people likely aren't doing many system modifications.
If I were you, I'd use the free solutions provided above, save my money and let my recipients decide how they will handle their mail.
    I completely agree.

  • In Apple mail, the attachment symbol does not appear in the list of sent items

In Apple mail, the attachment symbol does not appear in the list of sent items. So you cannot sort sent emails based on whether or not they have an attachment. Is there a way to fix this?

I think my question wasn't clear. I know how to display the attachment header (I use classic layout) but the problem is that the paperclip icon does not appear against the messages that contain attachments. See screenshot below. The attachment column is displayed but is blank. These are my sent items and I know for a fact that most of them have attachments. Can you help?

You cannot. (A few email programs might show it automatically; you cannot stop that either).

Firefox doesn't do email, it's a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.
If your problem is with Mozilla Thunderbird, see this forum for support.

  • How can I attach a document to an email as an attachment that doesn't appear in the body of the text

When I send an email and attach a document it pastes it into the text.  How do I send it as a separate attachment?

Control+Click or Right Click on the attachment within the body of the email and select 'view as icon'. Also make sure 'Send Windows-friendly attachments' is selected in Mail>Edit>Attachments menu.
There is a (paid for) plug in available called Attachment Tamer that will make this the default behaviour and generally help Mail to make attachments more compatible across computer platforms.

    It depends.
When you copy an image from a website in Firefox (right-click > Copy Image), Firefox stores the HTML code that website is using to display the image. Then when you paste into Yahoo mail, Yahoo uses that code to display the image in your message, by linking out to the source site.
However, if you copy the image from a source other than a web page, Yahoo mail (webmail interface) can't use this technique and although it sometimes seems to show the image in the post, when I send, I just get a strange "inline image" notation in its place.
If you access your Yahoo mail on a device in a dedicated mail client, then you usually would have more options because the mail program will encode the image into the message.

    Hi maryin,
I have attached your recent EE Invoice.
Generally speaking it looks reasonable. There is £38.37 out of bundle spend mainly due to calling non-geographic calls by several users.
One point to note is that 07931374236 called directory enquiries for 3-mins that cost £8.33, This is expensive. You could really do with requesting that users look up telephone numbers using yell.com or google. They have the data allowance necessary to do so and it costs Shuffs nothing additional.
Please contact me if you require any further details.
    Regards
    Andy Heames

The information is not an error.
Your current setup allows Full headers to be displayed and not the brief version. So as a result it uses what is selected to be displayed.
    You can quickly change this:
View > Headers > select 'Normal'
Then all in coming will not display full headers and therefore when you reply or forward, it will not include full headers.

  • Recipients of my email have been getting a bunch of scrambled code, letters and symbols, inserted into the body of my email - preceded by "span.IP". How to fix?

Some recipients of my emails have been getting a bunch of code, letters and symbols, inserted into the email preceded by "span.IP". What is causing this and how can I fix it? Also (may be related) when i start up Thunderbird, I get the following error message:
    Secure connection failed
live.mozillamessaging.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided. (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)
This could be a problem with the server's configuration, or it could be someone trying to impersonate the server.
If you have connected to this server successfully in the past, the error may be temporary, and you can try again later.
Or you can add an exception…

Browser Safeguard apparently attempts to intercept your secure connection to the server, so just uninstall it. Reboot your computer, and run a malware check.
It's also possible that it issued certificates for secure sites you visit. Those self signed certs could then be used by IE, so you should get rid of them as well.
In IE under Internet Options - Content tab click on Certificates. It opens to the Personal tab. Look for certificates issued by DO_NOT_TRUST_FiddlerRoot. Those are the ones created by Browser Safeguard.
Both, Thunderbird and Firefox use their own certificate store independent from the Windows certificate store. So they should not be affected by those certs.
For the future watch out for additional software being sneaked in when installing a program.

  • I cannot find how to prevent email tracking/source info appearing in the body of my emails (I think it is mainly those I forward or print).

This makes emails I forward or print very difficult to read without time being wasdted deleting unwanted info every email.

If this is an iCloud account the Outbox only appears when sending an email, so if it is still trying I suppose it should be showing now (not sure though, hard to replicate this)
    What type of email account?

  • Acrobat Upgrade and Signature Appearances

We're about to upgrade our Acrobat users from X to XI. We've got a number of users who have created custom signature appearances they use when signing documents. In the past when we upgraded Acrobat these signature appearances were lost. Is there a way to move existing signature appearances to the new version when upgrading so that they don't need to be recreated by users?

Search the system for a file called "appearances.acrodata". It should be in the Acrobat user folder, in the Security subfolder. The specific location depends on the version of Acrobat/Reader and OS. For example, on Windows XP:
    C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\11.0\Security\appearances.acrodata

If that only happens on a specific page or domain then make sure that you do not block images on that domain.
See [[Images or animations do not show]]
*A way to see which images are blocked is to click the favicon (<i>Site Identification</i> icon) on the left side of the location bar.
*A click on the "More Information" button will open the Security tab of the "Page Info" window (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
*Go to the <i>Media</i> tab of that "Tools > Page Info" window.
*Select the first image link and scroll down though the list with the Down arrow key.
*If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
