Making Templates

Hi;
I have a Flash template here:
http://creative.vi/clients/delta-electric/
I'm basically pleased with it. Now I want to be able to use it as a template as I have done with my pre-Flash sites, scripting in python. But how? I'd like to have "replacable parts" in this template you're viewing, change out the photo of that ugly long-haired fellow (me) and the lorem ipsum text, for example. How do?
TIA,
beno

Look into Motion. It's tailor-made for this sort of thing. You can create a Master Template with drop zones so you can just drag and drop the clips into their respective spots.

  • Making templates with FLASH .swf's?

    Hi all,
    I'd like to have a common flash header (that loads only
    once). I originally wanted to use SSI, but my host does not support
    SSI on the [cheaper] plan that I am on.
    So, I tried making a template, but it doesn't load the flash
    header. It loads the images fine, but not the flash. Any help you
    can provide would be greatly appreciated.
    Blessings,
    -Davide

    I think that's about the size of it....

  • Making Template Shifts page to right!

    I have a site that I have done 3 pages for and I'm making them into templates but as soon as I put an editable region in the whole pages shifts right in Dreamweaver. It doesn't effect the look on the web but look bad in dreamweaver. I dont know if you can tell by the image but one whole DIV is off the side of the screen. I could probaly fix the div that is shifted off the page with my CSS but what is doing this. And can I fix the #Wrapper?
    Forgot to add link to template. http://www.myradioclassics.com/Templates/ProductDiscription.dwt
    Thanks

    You have some errors in your code that DW may be choking on.
    Run your page through the validator at http://www.validator.w3.org
    One thing I know DW has hated in the past is comments with more than two hypens to start and close, so <!--- should be <!-- and ---> should be -->.
    If all of the errors are removed and Design View is still displaying it wrong, post back and we can take a closer look.
    Keep in mind though, that there may not be a "fix" for Design View. DV is just an approximation of how the page will look, not even a good one at that. Live View is better, but only represents the page as it would look in a "mostly there" version of a Webkit browser. Previewing in the actual browers is often the only way to know what your page will actually look like.

  • Making Template

    I want to make a template. I have outlined my template and completed all my paper work. Now I want to put my plan into action and create the template. Now problem is that I don’t have much knowledge to create a template, which is very much attractive. If any one have a perfect knowledge of making a template or anybody know any site which can help me then please guide me. It’s urgent.
    Thanks.

    Well as you have completed your entire outline and paper work now better you start implementing your ideas as soon as possible and start making a template. I would suggest you look for professional help. I found some creative and professional M.S. Word template provider at http://www.templatesforbusiness.us this may be very useful for you.

  • Need help making template for starting a movie score project

    What should I add to a template that I made to make it good for importing and working with QT movies for scoring. I was impressed with Apple's Music for Video template, the way the arrange window looks, the environments, the screen sets. I have made a very extensive template that has rewire and live drum recording setup etc. and I want this template to be optimized for score production. I am worried I will be missing key video functions if I simply just import video to my template.
    Question # 2, I have a ruff cut video that's 1:15:00 (near complete), should I detect cuts before I start composing ? Bear with me just cutting my teeth ~

    video generators>text>there are several options. Scrolling text will "scroll" the credits up. There is a left/center/right alignment. If thats not enough control you can key frame it with the wireframe.

  • Making template background an editable region

    Oh my goodness, I'm about to cry.  I've literally and without hyperbole spent days trying to figure this out on my own.  I have also contacted Adobe Tech help and was willing to pay for help ... all to no avail.  I am SO hoping there is someone out there who is able to help me.  My deadline to have this website finished is Monday, Sept. 03 and I am stuck.  Now down to the question:
    I have created a webpage which I have saved as template and which I want to use as my master from which all the other templates and pages on my site will be derived.  I would like to be able to change the background in different sections of the site.  The page I have created has an image, but other pages may just have a colour.  Is it possible to make the background colour and image, as set in the page properties, into an editable region?  And, if so, how is it done?  If it is not possible, are there any suggestions for work arounds that will allow me at least some flexibility in this matter?
    Any help on this will be gratefully accepted and enormously appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Malene

    Thank you so much for the reply.  I will be using the Master template I have created to make about another 6 templates.  These templates I will use to create about another 200 pages.  So, my thinking is that the best way is to make the relevant section editable and that is where I am at a loss. I am a novice designer and not at all versed in HTML, so I rely heavily on Dreamweaver's menus to perform various actions.  I know how to make regions editable in general, but I can't find a way to use the "insert editable region" to make the actual background, as set in the "page properties" CSS, editable.  I am guessing doing so requires some sort of HTML knowledge that I don't have.
    In the code, this is the region I need to make editable (copied and pasted from my template's code):
    body {
    background-color: #e5dfd3;
    background-image: url(../Images/Global/Toronto_Osgoode_Hall_1856.jpg)
    ;      margin-left: 0px;
    margin-top: 0px;

  • I have made a blog about Web templates...please have a look

    Hello Everyone,
    In my quest to make web templates I could not find a whole lot of relevant info. I feel like I am flying blind. I had asked, in a previous thread, for anybody with knowledge on making templates to share this info. Well, we did not get a whole lot.
    So, I have decided to make a public spectacle of my adventure in creating them. Please visit the blog, and please chime in if you have relevant info, or questions (please note though, any questions may not be answered right away. At least not by me-'cause as of right now I have no answers LOL). The more people that participate the faster we will all learn how to do this.
    http://lrwebtemplates.blogspot.com/
    My goal is to create a pdf of this knowledge once we have ironed out out all the bugs. Thanks for looking. And thanks in advance for any help/participation in the effort.

    Thanks for doing this, Paul. Hopefully you'll get some useful stuff to add to it soon. A n additional item is the entry on Goerge Jardine's Lightroom Journal from Andrew Rahn. Nothing new there for us who have worked on trying to figure thsi stuff out and hardly the direction I had hoped things would go, but maybe it will lead to more in the future.

  • Template pages for some reason don't center in IE 9.

    Hello Everyone,
    I am working on a tutorial and I have made my first page and have saved it as a template file. Everything looks as planned and nicely centered on all browsers even IE9. I then created a fresh new index.html page. I then attached or applied the template to the new index.html page. Now, here is the problem.
    For some reason in IE 9, the page no longer centers and appears to the left. When I did process of elimination and took off the template. The page then centers in IE9. It looks like I am having issues with making templates in Dreamweaver. Is this a known issue or is this just happening to me?Do you have any problems with IE9 with this?
    I have two main containers. Wrapper and Outer. Here is the CSS for it.
    #outer {
    width: 960px;
    margin:0px auto;
    background-color: #fff;
    #wrapper {
    width: 900px;
    margin:0px auto;
    background-color: #fff;
    Thank you for any help you can give.

    Assuming you're using default CSS positioning (no positioning), you need 3 basic things to center a web page.
         1. A valid X/HTML document type.
         2. CSS container width in px, % or ems.
         3. CSS margin-left and margin-right of auto.
    If you're using CSS positioning, this probably won't work unless you give the parent container position:relative.
    Beyond that, we'd need to see a link to your page.

  • Download other templates?

    Hey everyone!!
    I have this big project I have to present in the beginning of April for the french baccalaureate (TPE), so I want to make a magazine and there's not enough templates in Newsletters section. Plus, I have trouble in making templates of my own.
    So, if there's any way I can download some new templates from a website or something like that, I would be very grateful!
    Thanks a lot in advance,
    Camille

    There are several options for templates you can use in Pages. First, there those submitted by other users & available at iWork Community. There are also those available for Microsoft Word. Most templates for Word will open nicely in Pages. I haven't come across one that doesn't, but that doesn't mean someone else might. The only thing to watch for is the file extension. Some Word templates have an extension other than .doc. You will still be able to use them, just change the extension to .doc in the Finder or Pages won't recognized them as Word files. Of course, you can't change just any file's extension to .doc & have Pages open it. It must be a Word document.

  • Making sure photos are the exact same size

    I am creating before and after photos and need to make sure that each are the same size.  I will have groups of 2 side by side and then groups of 6 with 2 across and 3 down.  Once I create them in layers, is there a way that I can check to make sure that each of the photos is exactly the same size?   I have turned on grid and rulers, but wondered if there was any easier way to look at the pixle size of each individual photo?

    Consider making templates to the exact size required for your project. Here is a method which can be modified by changing the numbers to suit, but once set up can be used over and over again. It is a bit tedious - -
    Open a new, blank file (File>new>blank file) and set width & height in the inch size of your paper stock (4x6"), resolution 300px/in, background white (can be any color)
    Access the rectangular marquee tool, and in the the tool's option bar select "Fixed size", and put in 3.75x2.75", for example. Turn on the grid and snap to grid via View>grid & snap to grid. You can configure the grid via Edit>preferences>Guides and grids if you want to.
    Duplicate the background layer, and create the first box by clicking with the rectangular marquee tool. Position the box, then fill it with 50% gray (Edit>fill selection, and under contents select 50% gray.) Select>deselect gets rid of the marching ants
    Repeat for the next box. You should now have a document containing two rectangular boxes filled with 50% gray.
    Select the first box that you wish to fill (ultimately with the picture) with the magic wand tool. On the tool's option bar be sure that contiguous is checked. You should see "marching ants" around the selection, indicating that it is active.
    Open picture 1, go to Select>all, Edit>copy, then go to your layout as completed in step #5, and Edit>paste into selection
    Your image will be larger that the rectangular box, but you can drag it around to position the person that you wish to display. CTRL+T will allow you to resize the image with the corner handles, and to maneuver it
    Repeat for picture 2 with the 2nd box

  • XML Forms Template Translation

    Hi expertes!
    Customer is actively using XML templates for generating news and other KM content information.
    All the XML forms templates are created using XML forms builder and created in local language. The customer has customers in different countries and want to have the Templates translated so they can easily create forms in different languages. Ie: forms translated, buttons, headings and so on....
    One way of creating different templates would be to open up the local template in XML forms builder and make a copy(Save as) and translate the template, generate it and thus making template available in a different language. BUT this represents a lot of work if you have lets say 5-6 languages and all templates must be translated. Not to mention if you want to add a field, you would have to do it 5-6 times.
    Question?
    Are there any way of "translating" the XML template like you can do with "portal content translation" so you maintain only one XML form template but it changes according to the logon language of the portal?
    like adding "language filters" to one xml template
    Thanx in advance
    Trond

    Hi, Thanx to this Forums professional users
    ihave found the way of translating the XML forms template for easy changing the XML forms language using Userid language. So when a user logs on and wants to create a new XML forms(news ect.) they get the form in their own language.
    Found in SAP help:
    Language-Dependent Resource Files
    You can use the default resource files as a template for language-dependent resource files. Note the following naming conventions for language-dependent resource files:
    <Preferences location>/<project name>/<project name>_<language key>.xml
    For example, an item file for Italian could have the following ID:
    /etc/xmlforms/SAP_DemoNews/SAP_DemoNews_it.xml
    You have to create the language-dependent resource files manually (see Activities). You offcourse change the content of the xml
    Question:
    When we translate the form and test it, the entering template(xml) works perfect and we can generate the xml forms(news) in no time, BUT when displaying the XML forms in "SHOW" modus, it points back to a NON translated XML/XLS form. The translation of the form should also print/show the translated xml forms in SHOW modus also? Is there a way of translating the SHOW, bcs going into the forms builder is too time consuming and we can n ot do this bcs of short timeframe.
    Any solutions to this, Thanx!!
    Best Regards
    Trond Gjerde

  • Template only updates one webpage?

    Hi
    I have a number of online Forms, which were created from a DW
    Template. However when I amend the template it only applies to two
    forms (and not the other four)?
    Any help or corrective action much appreciated.
    Thanks

    What is it that is not being updated? Where are you making
    template
    changes?
    Here are six ways to make changes not propagate from Template
    to child -
    1. Rename the Templates folder
    2. Move the Templates folder to some other folder level in
    the site other
    than root level
    3. Move a template out of the Templates folder.
    4. Make changes to an editable region of the template (which
    will not
    propagate)
    5. Assume that template changes can be uploaded to the server
    without also
    uploading the changed local files
    6. Corrupt the site cache so that the link between template
    and child page
    is broken
    The latter problem can be repaired by using SITE | Advanced
    > Recreate Site
    Cache, and the five others can be fixed by just not doing
    them. Have you
    done any of those?

  • Dreamweaver templates in bc

    Hello.
    I created a dwt template to make a bc site from scratch but the file doenst appear on the bc panel after i upload the entire site.Were can learn about making templates for bc in dreamweaver cs6?
    Do i have to upload the template i made to bc and then use the bc admin panel to create a new page using my template,is that the basics of it? does it add on the bc admin panel then all the tags whith no problems,of course ill change then the css, but does that work?ialso read somewere that all i have to do to create a template from scratch is to add a {tag_pagecontent} to the div i intent the main content to be , is it like that or is there something more?And in my dreamweaver cs6 bc panel nothing apears as you can see in this screenshot http://screencast.com/t/trWyaJjH

    System styles that are rendered you do not have access to. Any styles you do in your CSS will override these.

  • Trouble getting template from Photoshop to Webpage

    Hi guys,
    So, a few weeks ago I upgraded from Photoshop CS to Photoshop CS4 (big jump right?), and CS4 is wonderful! But I'm having some issues:
    First, ImageReady no longer around, so making image maps seems all but impossible to do in Photoshop now. Yes I've figured out how to make the image map in Dreamweaver, but I kinda miss just drawing a box in ImageReady and telling the map where to go.
    Second, I am trying to get into the "make the web site template in photoshop, its easier" trend... and they're right, making my web layout is cake if you know how to use layers and draw in Photoshop. I love it, it's wonderful.... but then again every tutorial I find on making templates in PS for DW & Internet say to upload after drawing to ImageReady to create image maps for your navbar and buttons (1) and to slice up your template to import to ImageReady, and then import it from IR to DW. Well... as I mentioned, CS4 has no IR!
    So, does anyone, ANYONE, have a nice tutorial explaining how to set your options in the slices you make for a web page in CS4? I've found plenty of tutorials and guides on how to use the slice to draw around your button and such, but nothing about what options to set. Right now my site is only one page, but eventually I may want to make multiple pages instead of just having my navbar link to specific places on my main page. Plus, saving each layer individually to use in my CSS has its downfall as well: for some reason my header, branding logo, and navbar all have spaces between them. http://secondlife.lift4ullc.com is the site I made... all of the graphics were made in PS CS4, but instead of slicing stuff up, I just hid all layers except navbar, or logo, or header, and saved the jpg's individually. Would really love to learn how to just slice the different image sections without having to do all that extra work. Thank you all for any help you can provide, I really appreciate it.
    Chance

    Hi Bart,
    Actually, I haven't really done much CSS with the template yet. Here's what I've done and where I'm at:
    First, created the template fully in Photoshop CS4
    Second, sliced up the template and then saved to web & devices, html & images
    Next, opened the new .html file in Dreamweaver
    This is as far as I've gotten so far. The template looks great, and its all in one table. I went back and forth with one of my professors in my online class all day yesterday. What he said was to nest another table within my main template table to position everything how I want it. I tried this for a few hours yesterday and always the text ended up somewhere outside of my template "content boxes". You can see the full code and all of its glory here.
    I'm really not sure how to properly nest a small table within the main table to get some header like "News" or "Current Events" to line up at the top of the gradient on my "content boxes" etc. My professor suggested Illustrator, but I do not know that program at all yet.
    I could go with pure CSS as I've done in the past, but then I get gaps, like the ones I have here. If you notice at the very top where the branding is, there's a gap between that and the header image, and then another between that and the navbar. My goal is to be able to put content in the two boxes like on the first link, and then figure a way to link those boxes to my CSS so that as I add content to them (like with the second site) the boxes repeat or scroll down without giving me gaps. I hope this makes some semblance of sense. I figure for my other pages (one for every button on the navbar except XStreet) I'll design another content box like the two on the front of the site, but combine them to one box instead of two.
    Once I can figure out how to start adding content properly, I'll be all set finally with creating and designing templates. Its just this wall that I've hit that's stopping me from going further. Should I take out the tables, use the slices in my CSS and link them to <div> tags instead? My business is wanting a capture or splash page like here. and while I know how to design that template with Photoshop to give them a white box with a reflection under it, I will run into the same problem of getting the content inside that white box.
    I appreciate the time and effor in this, thank you. Oh yes, one more thing... I've been trying to do some searches on google and youtube for a video tutorial of just how to get the content in there properly, but I'm not even sure how to phrase it right to get some decent results. If this is one of those thinks you just know how to do but cannot explain it, if you could give me a tip on how to phrase my search properly, I'd appreciate that too. =)
