Making the impossible: ac3 from spdif in ¿How t

I have a X-Fi Xtreme Audio and I need to decode dolby digital sound from the optical in. ?How can I make this possibleBy software? Thanks.

Can your source do True DD or DTS output. If so check your SPDIF input settings try setting it to Dolbydigital/DTS SPDIF-Inpute Decode.
Try it with your DD/DTS driver decode on or off.
If that doesn't work try setting your SPDIF input settings to SPDIF bypass with you DD/DTS driver Decode on.
Lastly if you have an external decoder built into your speakers have your DD/DTS?decode off (Dolby Digital/DTS bitstream out) and your SPDIF input setting set to SPDIF bypass.
Check your devices settings try difrent settings like PCM out or AC3 digital out.
