Making The Left Side Of A Page 'Float' When Scrolling...

Hello!
Is there a way to make the left side of a page (i.e. http://www.bigmusicgeek.com/reviews/dreamtheater.html) 'float' with the right side of the page when a user scrolls down?
Thanks!

  • I have a whole history serch panel on the left side of my page, and I don't want it, and can't get rid of it!

I got this history search panel on the left side of my pages on Mozilla Firefox after downloading the latest updates today. I can't click on it, drag it, or otherwise get it to do anything.....Help!

You can toggle the History side panel off/on with "Ctrl+H"
The History sidebar work for me if you change the View in the side panel to "By Last Visited".
The sidebars can be accessed or removed through the View (menu) > Toolbars, by clicking on a sidebar to use/replace/drop only one toolbar can be shown at time.
If you don't see the view menu, use the "Alt" key (or "F10")
You can make '''Firefox 6.0.2''' look like Firefox 3.6.21, see numbered '''items 1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 thru 8.0, look like 3.6)]. • I want my bookmarks on the left side of my page always in firefox

Not had this problem before but as of this morning I cannot get my bookmarks to stay on the left side of my pages ALWAYS, (much easier!) I thought you could use ctrl/shift/B and it's not working, just bringing up the bookmarks page of options. I just want to pin my bookmarks to the left side of the pages at all times for easy access.

Press the "CTRL" and the "B" buttons at the same time.
    No "shift" button is needed.

  • Why is webpages I vist not fitting the screen. There is too much space on the left side and I cannot access my scroll bars.

Seems the pages I visit on the net are pushed more to the right, leaving too much space on the left side. Therefore, I cannot acccess the scroll down or across bars.

Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems: <b>View > Zoom > Reset</b> (Ctrl+0 (zero); Cmd+0 on Mac)

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Mozilla crashed yesterday and now bookmarks are not showing along the left side of page as they did before. They are on the menu bar but hubby does not like this location. Anyway I can get it back to the left side of the page?

This spring we changed from IE to Mozilla after upgrading to Win 7. Everything has been fine with Firefox until yesterday when it crashed when I attempted to open an email. Since then the bookmarks (or favorites as my husband calls them) have not been in their usual place which was along the left side of the page. They are located in the Bookmarks bar at the top of the page but husband prefers the old IE way which we had until yesterday PM. Is there any way that we can get them back to the left side of the page other than going back to IE? Now that I have gotten used to Firefox I like it just fine.

*You can open the Bookmarks in the sidebar via View > Sidebar > Bookmarks (Ctrl+B)
*You can open the History in the sidebar via View > Sidebar > History (Ctrl+H)
Press F10 or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
You can find toolbar buttons to open the bookmarks (star) and the history (clock) in the sidebar in the toolbar palette and drag them on a toolbar.<br />
Firefox 4 versions and later have two bookmark buttons with a star in the Customize window.<br />
One star button has a drop marker that open a Bookmark menu.<br />
The other star button without the drop marker opens the bookmarks in the sidebar.<br />

  • The new Pages in Mavericks OS:  How can I get a ruler down the left side?  When I click on "Show Rulers,"  all I get is a ruler at the top.

In the new Mavericks OS, when I use Pages, I cannot find a way to get a ruler on the left side of the document.  When I click on "Show rulers," all I get is a ruler at the top of the document.  How can I get a ruler on the left side?

Wait for an Apple update to Pages which is suppose to put the vertical ruler feature back in.

  • My HP color LaserJet 3700 has begun leaving a multi-colored band along the left side of the page.

Now there is a colored band of ink on the left side of the page running from top to bottom. A local tech says the printer needs vacuuming. I am dubious. I have emptied the toner bottle already.

Mine's doing the exact same thing. It's been suggested to replace the image transfer kit but I'm dubious....that part is rated for 60k pages and I have less than 17k - ?

  • HP Laserjet 4P has a 1" toner stain that runs down the left side of page.(front and back)

    Hello all,
This is my first post here and I hope someone can help me.
We have a HP Laserjet 4P that we have used for a few years and recently have had a problem of a 1" toner stain that runs down the left side of the printed page(both front and back side). I have replaced the cartride and cleaned everything I know to clean. When I remove the cartridge, there is a little pile of toner on the left side just in front of the horizontal silver bar that is behind the roller. I have cleaned it up several times. Each time I try to print, The toner stain appears on the printed page again and leaves a new pile of toner in the same place.
Does anyone have any experience with this problem? I am not sure if it is a worn part or a maintenance issue.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi ProspeorusCE,
The product you have is a commercial printer. I suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support for a better chance at finding a solution.
Here is the link to the Commercial Laserjet board:

I will have page open in the browser and when I click on one particular bookmark it always opens in the same browser but as a second page on the left side of the page. How do I stop this from happening--it is apage that I need to visit often for business and it is very restricting.

Awesome, really, it was so annoying. It's the small things in life that make such a difference. Problem solved 100% spot on easy as toast. [email protected]

  • How do I have a constant display of my bookmarks along the left side of the page as was possible in past editions of Firefox/

I previous versions you could have all of your bookmarks displayed down the left side of the page (I cannot recall the technical term for this). With this version when I open bookmarks I get something called the library which looks like what I want but it's in it's own window which is not the way that it was in previous versions. How do I set up Firefox so that my page had my bookmarks always displayed. I do not like the toolbar option.

You can make the Bookmarks visible in the sidebar via View > Sidebar > Bookmarks or the Ctrl+B keyboard shortcut.
Press F10 or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily if the Menu Bar is hidden.

  • FF4, Win7 - is there a way to pin the History to the left side of the page, rather than having it open in a whole 'nother window?(Where it used to be!)

FF4, Win7x64 - Is there a way to pin History to the left side of the FF page - the way it was - rather than having to click Bookmarks and a new window opens and then one must click history etc etc etc-

Press Ctrl+H with your browser open, and it will display the history pane on the left of your screen.

  • Google Docs page freezes in FF 4.0 and 3.16 versions and it doesn't show the collection or folder names on the left side of the page .

Google Docs page freezes and it shows the files in the main page. However, it doesn't show the collection or folder on the left side of the page. It shows "Loading" on top of the page and it stays with "Loading" display forever. Chrome doesn;t have any such problem. I would like to use FF for google docs if it works. This happened only after I changed to FF 4.0. Now, I went back to 3.16 and it shows the same behavior as 4.0 version. Any help will be appreciated.

I'm replying to my own question in hopes that it'll push my post to the top of any lists to garner some sort of response.
Any help is most appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi,
could you please try to find any blank oject like rectangle/textbox, specially at the lower end of the page. Use Edit -> "Select All" to select everything on the page, it will be easier to locate it.
Let me know if that works

  • Showing the pages on the left side

When I open my adobe file, the pages on the left side (where the bookmarks are) are NOT showing.  How do I get them to show please?  Thank you.

    MisterMojo,
Welcome to the discussions. The last time I replaced a toner cartridge, it turned out that the printer needed cleaning, not new toner. A thousand copies is not nearly full use of the cartridge you have.
Google the part number and you will find other suppliers. The last time I checked, they were $70 for that model.
    Are you familiar with fixyourownprinter.com?
Finally, many companies will refurbish your toner cartridge. Check the yellow pages of the phone book for the largest city near you.
