Making to user libraries on one computer?

Hey i was wondering if its possible to make two libraries on one Computer. Im on my laptop and my mothers songs are on here from her ipod and mine are on my desktop. Is there a way where i can keep her itunes songs on there and some how put my songs on there too without them both getting mixed in with each other

Sure thing,
just click on the iTunes icon, immediate (and I really mean immediate ) hold down the Shift-key. You will see the option to shift between 2 libraries or to make a new one. Chose to make a new library and follow the instruction on your screen.

  • Multiple Libraries on one computer

I want to store more music in iTunes than my iPod has room for (original iPod). I want to use one library for music that I don't want on my iPod and the other for the music I want to sync. I also want to be able to move music back and forth between the them.
How do I store music in multiple libraries on one computer without making separate computer user accounts or using the playlist work around?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, apple-rules

Yes, I am referring to the auto syncing of playlists. Not all of my music is assigned to playlists and I don't want to create them - too many songs.
As I mentioned in my original post:

I want to be able to store music in iTunes and play that music in iTunes without having them downloaded to my iPod. It would be nice to have a Library in iTunes that can be separate from the iPod stuff.
I think I found a work around (#12). Until I get a better solution I am going to create a master folder to which I will move all my music that I do not want syncing to my iPod. Then, I will do a manual sync and exclude that folder.
    Thanks everyone.

  • Two libraries on one computer??????

How can I have two seperate accounts w/ two seperate libraries on one computer?? SOMEONE HELP ME

You will probably have to use two different Windows user accounts for their particular iPod. I don't think you could have two different accounts on the same Windows user account.
And each account to there account/iPod, as well. This may be tricky, but can be worked out. But two user windows user accounts is probably a necessity in this kind of thing.
By the way, do you have two iPods, or are you just wanting to have two different iTunes accounts?

  • Two Libraries on one computer? Is this possible?

Hi- I am helping my parents get their ipods up and running. Is it possible to have two ipods/separate libraries on one computer? If so, do I need to download itunes 7 twice? My dad already has his library up and running on the computer and I need to add my mom's. Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Thank you in advance!

Apologies to all concerned for this threadjacking. I'll make it brief and be on my way.

  • HT202213 Two Itunes libraries on one computer.  Any way to share content between the two libraries?

We have 2 ITunes libraries on one computer.  Is there a way to share movies, music, etc. between the two libraries?

To your second question, probably the easiest way is to set up another user account on your machine. Then when that user opens iTunes, it will be a new library (empty) that they can put anything they want into, and not corrupt your library.
With another user account, they can also customize their own desktop photo, desktop icons, etc. so lots of benefits doing it that way. Works out great for me and my 13 year old daughter so I don't have to see the latest Emo band hearthrob's face on my desktop.

  • Is it posible to have two libraries on one computer?

My brother and I use the same computer for our iPod's. He is 12 and probably shouldn't have some of the same songs that I have. Is it posible to have two libraries on one computer?

we each have our own user acounts in XP, but iTunes is present in all user accounts on the PC. So what I import or purchase to iTunes using my XP user is only seen by me or is it linked to all users?
I appreciate your help with this!!!

Yes but you may run into issues if you want them both to run iTunes Match or automatic downloads.

  • HT1451 If I have two iTunes libraries on one computer, how do I know which one is opening when I click on the iTunes icon on the desktop?

If I have two or more iTunes Libraries on one computer, how do I know which one is opening when I click on the iTunes icon on my desktop?

    You cannot.
When you sync to a new library, it will erase the current content.
Use your backup copy of the old computer to copy everything to the new one.

  • Can you run iTunes twice on one computer?  Run two libraries on one compute

My roommate and I both have iPods and share a computer but we have vastly different tastes in music. How can we both have our own iTunes libraries on one computer?

There are a couple of ways you can do this, have a look at this guide: "How to use multiple iPods with one computer" http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300432

  • HT1347 How do I run two libraries from one computer?

How do I run two libraries from one computer? One library is on the computer's hard drive, the second library is on an external hard drive. The computer that had the external hard drive crashed and I need to fix the iTunes library on it. How can I do this without corrupting the library on my internal hard drive?

Launch iTunes with the Shift key held down and either create a new library or choose the one on the external drive. Any rented movies downloaded from another computer won't play.

how do i transmit shared libraries from one computer to my apple TV?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
The same way you share a non-shared library. If it isn't working check that you have the content checked in iTunes Preferences > general > Show.

  • ITunes match for two libraries on one computer

Whenever I try to enable iTunes Match in the latest iTunes beta, it says "This computer is already associated with an Apple ID." I cannot proceed with scanning my library. In the other account, with their Apple ID, it works.
There are two user accounts on our Mac. Does this mean that iTunes Match is linked to the device itself, and not the unique Apple IDs/user accounts? This means in a family that shares a computer, with unique and separate iTunes libraries within each user account, only one person in the family can use iTunes Match (but strangely, both can pay for it).
    Any ideas?

I wonder if the following would work...
For both accounts and itunes libraries, use the same apple id.   This should work on the same machine.
Unfortunately, that means the libraries between the two accounts would 'merge' oncd match does its thing and be the same under that one id in the cloud.
For purchases, one of the accounts would have to sign in with their ID in the apple store which would log them out of match.  Logging out of match means you only have access to the files you have downloaded from the cloud or where already in the library.    I think your purchased music would be fine and once downloaded to the library, when you log back into match would be picked up and placed in the iCloud library.
From what I can guess, you would have to be stuck with one shared library and this may not be what you want.
They didn't really make match to be a shared among accounts and instead locked it to the machine - probably because of the music licenses.  With purchased/drm music and video thouugh, they can be shared across 5 appleid's.  Very confusing.  You have 10 devices on one id for match and auto/redownload of purcahses and you have 5 appleid's you can share content with.
I've got 4 machines, 5 apple id's, and one match account so far. Only two machines are using match so far (mine and a server), and just using homesharing for the others for now.   Maybe when I'm bored I'll try to see if there is a way to activate match on all the other machines and also work with the other non-match Apple ID's.  In a way, home sharing may be easier for the users of those ID's to pull from the master library matched from the server.
