Making video stop on page turn

If I am creating a folio, which will be viewable on the iPad, what is the best way to make a video automatically stop when the user turns the page.
For instance, each page has a few different videos on it. I know the iPad can only play one video at a time, which is fine for each page that has a few videos.  A user clicks one and it turns off the previous one.  However, if they turn the page, the video from the previous page is still playing in the background.
Any ideas?  I tried to add a quick 1 second video that automatically plays and hide it in the back, but it does two things I don't want it to.  1) Shows the blue play bar.  2) once you go to that page and go back it won't automatically load again.
Thanks.

  • CS5 doesn't offer basic audio functionality (playback stops on page turn)

I would like to place a sound file and in the exported pdf have the sound file play (via button or playback toolbar), without stopping on page turn. To me, this is a very basic function to ask for. But guess what? CS5 can't do it. Turn the page and the sound stops. Is a workaround converting the sound to a video file? Possibly, but any converted file (to avi or mp4 containers for example) gets an error message when I tried to place it. My question is, can anyone make this basic function work? If not, my second question is, where would I go to submit this issue to developers. Also, I understand it's possible to address this issue on acrobat, but this is not feasible when we're talking about hundreds of audio files in a document.

Hi publicduck, I'm not sure if you meant you embedded swfs or if you exported from indesign to swf with an html file. But your suggestion helped, because after being unable to find any audio format that didn't stop playing on page turn (without the use of a playback controller), I tried exporting to swf instead of pdf, and for some reason, in swf, opened as an html file in firefox, I was able to click on the button to start the mp3, and turn the page, while the mp3 continued. So thanks!

  • Placed mp3 stops playing on page turn in exported pdf

Hi, I placed a sound file in an indesign file, left the 'media' setting 'stop on page turn' unchecked, and still, the file stops when i turn the page in the pdf. I have one button controling the play (mouse release action) and stop (mouseover action) of the file.

hi steve, you're right; from what i've found, the only way that an embedded audio or movie file will keep playing is if you float a controller. The problem there however is that you have to use the controller; that can be dealt with in pdf, but not from indesign, and if one has a lot of media files in their interactive pdf, that's a lot of work after export. from within indesign, that controller can be made fairly small, and it ends up sitting in the top right corner of adobe reader once a media file is clicked; and it only goes away if you close it; and if you open other media files, the contollers start piling up.
what i ended up figuring out as an alternative was that if you export to swf instead of pdf, for some reason the mp3 (i only tried mp3 in swf) keeps playing on page turn (with no controller); and the nice thing about swf is that you can get 'curl' page transitions, and since it opens as an html it's ready to go online.
the document has buttons that upon being clicked, play the file (with nothing popping up); and the mouseover stops the file; and click again plays it.
one thing that would be nice is if one audio file could be placed that buttons on other pages could access cue points within; unfortunately; buttons can only access audio files that have been placed on the page. so instead of having 1 file, accessed at different navigation points, you have 50 files cut from the 1, each with their own button.

  • Audio stops playing on page turn

    hello,
Hope any of you can help me. I added a audio file to a page, in a chapter. I want to the audio to start playing when the page is opened, I selected the "play on page load" option, BUT I also want to the audio to continue playing whilst I flip through the other pages in the chapter. For some mysterouis reason, the audio stops when I flip to the next page. The option "stop on page turn" is not selected.
Does anyone have a workaround to get this fixed? I need it really badly.
    Thank you for your help!
    Marl

Thank you for your response Bob!
I just found out, by accident!, that when you keep smooth scrolling on it works! -- The audio keeps playing just fine when browsing throuhg the next pages. Now the only thing I have to find out is how I can keep the smooth scrolling option in horizontal ONLY.

  • Epub headache - is it possible to stop audio on a page turn?

I have many audio mp3'd in my ebook, but want either teh audio to stop on page turn, or other mp3's to turn off when a new mp3 is played,
is there any way to do this?
    thanks!!!
    James

If you're working with EPUB3 and doing multimedia, I think you should definitely get on the train and start using InDesign CC 2014. The train is picking up speed. CS6 is more than two years behind.
I don't think there's any built-in control for what you want; it may require monkeying with the HTML, CSS and JavaScript manually.

  • HT3209 I rented a movie on Itunes and it downloaded. Now it will not play. When i go to videos and try to play it the whole page turns black.

I rented a movie on Itunes and it downloaded but the movie will not play. When i go to videos to try to watch the video the page turns black

    Quit the videos app completely.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Try the videos app again.
If that doesn't work, reboot the iPad. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If that fails, try this. Swipe to the right from your first home screen to get to the iPad Spotlight search. Type in the name of rhe movie in the field at the top. When the movie appears in the search - tap on it and it should start to play. Let it play for a minute or so - hit done - go back to videos app and see if all is OK.
But remember, once you start to play the rental, the timer starts.

  • Why is my ipad2 not buffering videos streaming from web as quickly as it can play them and keep making my videos stop playing?

When I try watching videos streaming from itunes or u tube or any streaming source the ipad2 does not buffer the videos as fast as they are being played. This makes the videos stop playing within a few seconds after they start and I have to continuously hit the play button to watch videos in bits and pieces. This makes the streaming of videos on this device virtually impossible.

You may be having some problem in your local network or your internet connection is not fast enough to properly stream the videos.
What type of internet connection are you using (cable, DSL, etc?)
What sort of local network do you have? router make/model, etc.
What other traffic is on your network?

  • At 8:00 am every morning there is a loud page-turning noise from my iPhone.  I have no idea what it is and have tried everything to stop it.  Any help out there?

Every morning at 8:00 am there is a loud page-turning sound from my iPhone 5s.  I have no idea what is causing it and it can be quite startling earlhy in the morning if you are alone.  Any one have any idea what it could be?

If it goes off at 8am every morning, then you have probably set the alarm without realising it.
Check the alarm and turn it off.

  • How do I stop a page downloading if I don't like it ?

it only started after latest update.
Desktop pc, win xp, firefox 32.0

in a previous version of firefox there was a means of stopping a long page downloading ( say it had video content ) if it turned out to be not what I wanted.
I can't find the stop button in the latest version, I am on a broadband limit, so this is why I want to stop it downloading.
Thanking you all for your help in advance

I am still in the return window but i really do not want to return my mac as i know it has the ability to do what i want, my problem is just finding the software that will work as i know there has been a lot of complications with OS X Mountain Lion with softwares that caim to be compatible but then later turn out not to be.
I have been a windows user for years and this is really my first mac but apart from the hole software issue i find the mac 10x better than any windows computer i have ever used. For example i bought a HP laptop 4 weeks ago and has nothing but problems. At first the fans stopped working and making weird noises and then it began switching off when ever it felt like it and freezing like mad when i was trying to access the smallest program. I have found that now a days you dont get what you pay for with Windows especially since Windows 8 was released. Also Laptops such as HP now are just crammed with cheap parts, they dont take pride in their systems like they once used to unlike Apple. I know i will get more than a year or 2 out my mac (hopefully a lot more) but with windows systems it just seems to break all the time costing more money on extending warrantys. Also i like mac because i dont need to send it away if i ever get a problem, i can just take it into the apple shop half a mile down the road and they will fix it in store. Where as with windows i am waiting 2 weeks+ to just hear back from them.

  • How to make a video stop in flash through an external button

    Hi everyone!
I have a little problem: I made a flash site with its
different sections, the first of which has a movie clip which is a
"VideoPlaylist". So inside this movie clip I have the player and
the videos sequenced one after the other in a TileList component.
    The problem is:
When I go to a different page, the video in the first page
continues to play and so you can still hear the sound, AND WHICH IS
WORSE, when you click the button to return to the first page, the
video starts again with the sound of the previous time still
    rolling.
The solution would be, I suppose, when clicking to any of the
buttons that link to another section of the flash document, add
some action script to make the video stop (having in mind that the
video player is inside a movie clip).
I don't know action script, just the navigation basics
necessary for the sections. I did the videoplaylist following this
    tutorial:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/video_playlist.html
    Can anyone help me, please!!

You better ask in the Flash forum; this is the Flash Player forum.

  • Why do some YouTube videos stop playing after a short time?

Since sometime in October, 2013, I have noticed that more and more YouTube videos stop playing within a minute of starting. Most that stop do so in 15 or 16 seconds. The playing stops because the download stops. I watch this on a network activity monitor I always have running. Not all videos do this, but the problem is becoming more and more frequent. Some videos which played correctly for me in the recent past are now exhibiting this problem.
Other than installing the latest Firefox updates I have NOT changed the software on my machine. I run Linux by the way. I do not think this is a Linux problem because (1) it was all working before and (2) my son who runs both Mac OS X *and* Windows is also seeing the same problem. We both use Firefox as our browser on all our platforms.
I should also note that I am NOT seeing this problem with any of the other video websites I use, only when I go to YouTube. That leads me to believe that the problem is not in Firefox; if it were it should affect videos from all websites.
Additionally the problem occurs whether or not I log into YouTube.
I have not run Firefox in safe mode because all the extensions I use did not affect the download of Videos before, so I don't expect unchanged extensions to suddenly start causing problems.
So, anyone else see this problem? (There was another note which talked about the same problem but it was disabled.)
Also -- pardon my paranoia, but -- I need to ask: Since YouTube is owned by Google and Google has its own browser it wants you to use, Chrome, is it possible that Google is intentionally causing some YouTube videos to fail if it sees that they are being sent to Firefox?
(That is not so outlandish I think. Microsoft WAS at one point caught mangling web pages going to certain web browsers other than IE. And these days Google wants to dominate the Internet just as badly as Microsoft does, so why not pull dirty tricks too?)
If this keeps happening I am going to have to try Google's Chrome to see if it somehow manages to play YouTube videos correctly while Firefox does not. But I really do NOT want to install Chrome because I trust Google about as much as I trust Microsoft, which is to say Not At All.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
There have been some issues with Flash 11 in the recent past. This could be a manifestation of that issue. Kindly check this response below to see if this helps you in viewing Flash videos.
Also, if you want to check if this is a flash problem and specifically on youtube, you can try the HTML5 version of Youtube. In this, there are no plugins involved, and the browser natively renders the videos. You can signup for the HTML5 trial by visiting http://youtube.com/html5. Please try that and check if the issue goes away.
Also, in this case, Google might not be doing anything sinister - they generally try to be standards compliant too. You can definitely try installing Google Chrome and test this issue, but we definitely would want you to continue to be a Firefox user :)

Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See [[Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems|this article]] for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).
To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:
#Go to this [http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues Adobe Flash Player Help page].
#Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
#Click on '''Settings''' in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
    # Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel. <br/> <br/>[[Image:fpSettings1.PNG]] <br/>
    # Remove the check mark from '''Enable hardware acceleration'''.
    # Click '''Close''' to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
    # Restart Firefox.
This [http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help01.html Flash Player Help - Display Settings page] has more information on Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you're interested.

Recent crashes of certain multimedia contents (this includes Youtube videos, certain flash games and other applications) in conjunction with Firefox are most probably caused by a recent Flash update and/or a malfunctioning browser plugin such as Real Player.
In order to remedy the problem, please perform the steps mentioned in these Knowledge Base articles:
    * [[Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems]]

  • Realistic Page Turn Effects from a PDF document

Is there a way to create animated page turn effects from within Acrobat or in combination with Flash?
I would like to create books, magazines, brochures that have hot links to other pages within the same document, web links, and multimedia capabilities, but which display animated page turns. Something along the style of http://page-flip.com/products.htm
Ideally, I would like to create the documents in various programs, and then turn them into a PDF with the hot links and multimedia capabilities. I then want them to display as a Flash video with the animated, realistic page turn effects, along with pagination and zoom controls.
There are software programs available that will do this but they cost big $$$$. Is there a way to export/print/save a PDF file to a SWF format and automatically have the page turn effects added?
I have CS4 with Acrobat Pro and Flash Pro. I found a couple of Flash extension that appear to do this but they are clumsy to use and I am not very experienced with Flash and ActionScript. I am looking for an easy way to accomplish this, hopefully, right from within Acrobat.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
    Dan

Adobe CS5 support animated Flash and movies in PDF files, you can visit the home page for detail. When it comes to convert PDF to SWF with Page-Flip effect, Adobe didn't work that good. I recommend convert online at http://www.axmag.com/submit.html , this seems to be free.
