  • How can I make a window transparent but keep its objects opaque in Cocoa-Applescript?

    How can I do this in Cocoa-Applescript, Xcode? As well, is it possible to blur the area behind where the transparent window is?

    You can set the window transparency with something like:
    theWindow's setBackgroundColor:(current application's NSColor's clearColor)
    theWindow's setOpaque:false
    I haven't seen a way using public APIs to blur behind the window, but I'm not sure about using ASObjC with stuff like Core Image, anyway.
    You might also try something like setting the background to a gray color and play with the grayscale and alpha values (colorWithCalibratedWhite:0.0 alpha:0.2, for example).

    What terminal do you use? urxvt can set transparency in the Xdefaults file.

    Or, if you don't like fiddling with Xdefaults file, you can simply make urxvt transparent by executing it like "urxvt -tr -sh 20", where the number represents the transparency level. However, this is only pseudo transparency, but I like it better than resource-consuming compositing.
    Will give it a try. I'm not against .Xdefaults - just haven't used it that much and know only the basics ( color schemes )

  • How do I remove white jagged edges after making image transparent?

    How do I remove white jagged edges after making image transparent?  Is there a feature to help out with this?

    It's a file format limitation. GIF supports 1 bit of transparency.  That is 2^1 (which equals 2 total) levels of transparency.  This equates to either NO transparency at all, or specifying 1 single color of the 256 total possible values to being fully transparent.
    This will leave a very ugly fringe around the edge no matter what; it will only not be visible in color that match or are close to the fringe color; and then, that's a perception issue.
    Try creating an alpha channel and saving the image as a PNG.  That supports 8 bits of transparency, which equals 2^8 or 256 total different levels of transparency.  This will let your image have very smooth edges with no jagged transitions.

  • How to remove/hide 3d object template (start point) when making object transparent

    When making 3d object then making it transparent i still see form of witch i made it.
    How to remove it?
    I made square then from it 3d object and made it round so i could put on it beer botle label BUT when i put latel and then make transperancy full then i still see square from witch object is made.. Its still showing up. Why or better- how to remove it? Cant find any button to click it off.

    I'm also not so sure I understand what you're trying to do.
    If you share  an observablecollection then removing an item from that collection would remove it from any ListBox whose itemssource was bound to it.
    I get the impression that might not be what you want though.
    Hope that helps.

  • How can we increase the window transparency in Yosemite?

    This has been discussed a little bit on Reddit as far as I've found so far.. http://www.reddit.com/r/osx/comments/2jnxll/is_there_any_way_to_increase_translu cency_in/
    It'd be cool to have a system-wide/global control for window transparency, or even better would be per app, but that seems like it'd be a bit more complicated..
    Any thoughts/ideas as to how to make this happen would be much appreciated!
    Thanks

  • Getting window transparency on startup

    Hi all,
    I'm sure there's been hundreds of threads about transparency but I haven't been able to find one that addresses my situation. I downloaded xcompmgr and transset-df. So far I've been able to get the shadows the way I want with xcompmgr but I can't seem to get Window Transparency as default. What I mean is that when I startx I get my blank screen (using ScrotWM with only bare basics installed onto system) and then I open a program, say Swiftweasel (see screenshot), it appears non-transparent until I manually type:  transset-df 0.7  hit enter and select the window. I'm using Lilyterm as my terminal but it has it's own Transparency settings, in case you're wondering about the screenshot.
    Anyway, I was just wondering if there was a way I could configure xcompmgr to get Transparent Windows on startup or use transset-df to do it or create some sort of shell script (using zsh). To clarify, I was wanting ALL windows to be Transparent (to specified degree) by default, without having to manually type, set and select each and every new window as it opens. If I missed something in the --help files for each of these programs then I'm sorry. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

  • Can Openbox change window transparency/opacity when moving windows?

    Can I configure, within Openbox or a compositing manager, differing window transparency/opacity when moving a window?

    I'm currently using cairo-compmgr, but I've also used xcompmgr in the past. I've played around with the settings in both (and transset-df with xcompmgr), with no luck thus far. While getting terminal and tint2 transparency is fairly trivial, and I've also read that you can set specific windows to always have a certain level of transparency/opacity, I'm not sure that you can get the level of opacity/transparency to change whenever you grab a window and move it around. I think I read that the difficulty lies in the fact that Openbox knows when a window is being moved around, but a compositer doesn't. What I'm looking for may only be possible in a DE where the window management and compositing are integrated (e.g. KWin). Just wondering if anybody has done this with Openbox and a specific compositing manager paired together.

  • A way of making window look transparent

    I'm using the following method to make a window look transparent: whenever a frame is moved, it makes a screenshot of the underliying area and displays it as its background
    but, unfortunately, this doen't work in this example ????
    public class MyFrame extends JFrame implements ComponentListener{
    private Image image;
    public MyFrame(){
    super();
    this.addComponentListener(this);
    public void componentHidden(ComponentEvent e){}
    public void componentShown(ComponentEvent e){}
    public void componentResized(ComponentEvent e){}
    public void componentMoved(ComponentEvent e){
    try{
    image = (new Robot()).createScreenCapture(new Rectangle(getX(), getY(), 200, 200));
    repaint();
    }catch(Exception ex){ ex.printStackTrace(); };
    public void paint(Graphics g){
    if(image != null){
    g.drawImage(image, 0, 0, this);

    May it will not help too much, but I know that a transparent window, isn't transparent, in truth.
    What this windows really is doing is a screenshot of desktop background, and printing it at window background. So, I think prefectly normal that problems as your happen somtimes.
    best wishes

  • Windows Transparent Key, Through the Window?

    Dear, Fellow-Coders
    I recently noticed if I try the transparent key and set it for example, pink and I have a pink background for my picture box.. And a image inside that box. Sure enough the pink is transparent, but instead of going to the image beneath it, or to the form...
    It goes through the application. I'm using Visual Studio Express 2013. Please Help, Thanks! (Also, if you need code to do this.. Can you provide it, I searched this everywhere and found nothing.)

    Hello,
    That is the right behavior of that property, and it is mainly used for transparent for forms.
    You could refer to the following documents for more information.

    And for transparent for picturebox, you could get that consider using the way shared in this thread below.

  • Flash: Making a Transparent Background

    Don't ever tell me that its the window mode set to transparent in the html setting in publish settings and don't tell me I need to change the html code of the published product in dreamweaver because I don't have dreamweaver.
    How is one to make an swf file file that has no background in it without Dreamweaver and without a publish setting that doesn't work?
    After that can be answered, how then are you to make an avi. file thats transparent?
    Advice told me that I need to convert the swf to avi. How is one to this?
    And last, I'm new to the discussions...
    How do you edit your discussion so I don't have to post the same topic twice with new information?

    You can use any text editor (such as Notepad) to edit an html file, you don't need Dreamweaver.
    You cannot edit an intitial posting after you have posted it, so it is important to prepare it carefully ahead of posting it so that you are sure it has all the information you intend.  If you need to clarify something afterwards, then you can only post a response afterwards to attempt to clear things up.

  • Illustrator making objects transparent when shouldn't

    I just recently upgraded to CS5 from 3 on Windows XP.  I created a graphic with some design elements to make it a little 3D looking and exported to a PNG with transparent background for powerpoint. When the graphic overlays another, parts are transparent where they should not be. There is not a single object (grouped or individual) that has the transparency less than 100%. The parts that are transparent are where an overlayed object has a multiply setting in the Transparency palette. Does this make sense? I basically designed three puzzle pieces that are going to be animated in powerpoint and float over eachother. I am happy with the area around the puzzle to be transparent, just not the puzzle piece itself.
    Thanks in advance.

    I checked the settings of a built in button from the symbols palette and saw no difference in setup.
    I ended up duplicating the entire object and removing the "effect" object and sending to back which made the object non transparent.

  • Flash: Solutions for Making a Transparent Movie?

    I have searched for an hour now so I might as well start a question.
    I'm trying to make a simple text animation but the background won't go away from my exports. I need to make a movie file (.avi or .mov) and nothing is letting me remove the white space in the background.
    Things I have tried:
    Go to Publish settings > HTML > Window mode: Trasparent Windowless
         Result: White background remains
    Make a .mov and in Quicktime Export Settings checkmark Ignore Stage Color (generate alpha)
         Result: This time, everything was black (text was black too so it probably blended withthe background
    Make a .avi and in Export Windows AVI set video format to 32 bit color w/ alpha
         Result: White background remains
    Make a .gif image sequence and just use the images in your video editer to make the animation
         Result: Even after changing the GIF publish settings to transparent, the gif images are still not transparant
    So far nothing works so what is the deal with flash not comprehending with a clear background in movie files?
    Any help will work, as long as it isn't something I've already tried.

    Just out of interest, how do you convert the SWF to an AVI?
    Is this a capability available in Flash by default?
    This could help me fix my problem I outlined here:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/738017?tstart=0
    I tried using Adobe Media Encoder to export a SWF to AVI, but it tells me that SWF is not a supported format.

  • Xcode Making Windows Apps?

    Hello! I'm new on Macs, and in my first computer programming course. We're making simple Windows console applications, and I made it on a PC in .net Visual Studio 2003 just fine. Is there a way to make this again in Xcode on my Mac and end up with a working Windows .exe file? If not in Xcode, is there any Mac environment that will let me do this?

    XCode will not build Windows executables, and I'm not aware of any IDE for OS X that will. Even if you could, you'd want a Windows PC to test it out on. You're better off developing for Windows in Windows and for OS X in OS X. If you're writing cross-platform code, you should be able to just recompile in an IDE that knows how to compile for that platform.
    I don't know, but it might be possible for gcc on OS X to compile for Windows. You want to ask in the Developer forum.
