Male Voice over not Female

I have a mac and also pc. I did have it synced to a pc then switched to MAC. Now I have a man's voice in voice over. I can't find how to change this back to woman's voice.
Thanks

If you change your language to something like French, it will speak with a womans voice. Whats more, it will speak the english words with a French accent.
You can also go to your system preferences and change the voice being used to a womans voice (you can also change the speed of speech, etc.). Here are the steps to get you going:
1- In iTunes, go to ipod summary page. Turn off voiceover and sync.
2- At same screen, check "Use system voice instead of built-in voice". Click sync and quit iTunes.
3- Click "System Preferences" in application bar
4- Click "Speech"
5- Make your adjustments. There are a few female voices to choose from.
6- Run iTunes. Turn on voiceover and click sync. Your new voice selections should now be what is loaded on your Nano for the voiceover feature.

  • Voice over not in sequence?

I recorded a voice over to a sequence yesterday in Premiere Pro CC and opened it today, and the voice over was there. Now I'm trying to open the sequence with the voice overs after closing the application, and the sequence opens, but the voice over tracks are not in the timeline. Only the A1 track has audio in it, but I recorded in A2 and A3 as well.
All the audio files are saved in the project files, so I know they are on my computer. Just for some reason I can't find the sequence with the voice over tracks in it. I have over 500 voice overs, and would really really like to not have to line them up since they were already lined up. Help?

See if you can open an auto save or a (save a) copy from another location on your hard drive.

  • Voice Over not in proper folder

In FCPX , I set up a new event and then a new project, I edited the project and then did some voice overs.  WHen I looked for where it saved the voice overs, they were not in the project folder but in previous peroject folders.  WHY? I was looking because I was trying to dupolicate the project so I could make an alternative edit for a client and still keep the orig.  I couldnt get DUPLICATE PROJECT to work as it didnt duplicate the voice overs nand move them to the proper place.  What did I do wrong?
    Thanks...

There's something wrong here. The VO should not be in a project folder, but in the event folder. If you duplicate a project it may not duplicate the event unless you specifically ask the application to duplicate the media.

  • Voice Over Not Working

    Hi,
I've used voice over in Final Cut Pro before and ever since I hooked up an external monitor it won't work.
I've just recently bought the M-Audio 410 mixer and would like to use it.
    Could somebody please help?!
    Thanks!

I have it connected via firewire, but firewire and regular mic jack wont work.
Is there anyway I could restore the default settings without having to reinstall FCP?

  • Voice Over not working after a few days.

Hi, I really need help on this one.
I have a friend who can't do anything without using Voice Over. We downloaded french voices and everything runned perfect for a few days, then it suddenly stopped working. When starting up the computer, we just hear "Talk deactivated" (in french), then nothing more. But the talk option is still "on" on the Voice Over preference panel.
The other problem is that we used the zoom function and made it following the cursor. Now, it just ignores the mouse's movements.
I don't know what to do.
    Many thanks by advance !

This is quite a common problem. The usual cause is inadvertent use of the "mute speech" command via the Trackpad Commander.
To toggle VO speech on and off using the Trackpad, tap twice with three fingers simultaneously.
Otherwise, you can summon up the VoiceOver command menu using VO-H-H, type "PAR" (French for "SPEech" and press Return.
For the Zoom problem, open System Preferences —> Universal Access and make sure you tick the "Zoom follows the keyboard focus" checkbox.
You might also want to experiment with the Screen Image radio buttons lower down the window:
    • Continuously with pointer (some people find this makes them seasick);
    • Only when the pointer reaches an edge (usually preferred); and
    • So the pointer is at or near the center of the image (some people like this).
Have you thought of looking at the French language website http://cecimac.org/ ? It's full of articles and tips for beginners, all in French. There is also a very lively e-mail Forum for Francophone VoiceOver users.
    Good luck,
    Archie

  • Settings-Voice-Over- Not letting me turn it back off...

I was messing around with my setting and I turned on voice-over. Once I was done with it, I tried to turn it off, but it wouldn't let me scroll down. I don't know what to do and I tried resetting it, but that won't work either.

The easiest way is to connect to iTunes. In the Summary pane, click on the "Configure Universal Access..." button. You can turn off VoiceOver there.
When VoiceOver is turned on, the standard touchscreen gestures have different effects. You can read about these here: http://www.apple.com/iphone/how-to/#accessibility.voiceover-gestures

Sorry about the question, i just figured that i didnt create the lists before sincronize, now it's working fine. Thanks anyway

  • Genius voice over not working

When I first got my 3gs I was able to create genius playlists with voiceover by saying the command "Play more songs like this." All of the sudden it stopped working. When I try I get the message "genius not available."
It does it with every song I try. I can however create genius playlists manually by tapping the genius icon when a song is playing.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

Hmm .. not another Genius you need an appt with, I hope

  • Voice over not recognising playlists

Any Ideas why my shuffle doesn't recognise any of my playlists and just says all songs? Also it doesn't tell me the battery level so not sure if the suffle is faulty or it is me not understaning the limited instruction.
    Need your help people

The full user manual is linked to the Apple Support resource page for the shuffle
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipodshuffle/
All Songs is the default playlist on the shuffle.  If you have VoiceOver enabled, and you have playlists loaded on the shuffle, VoiceOver should say the names of the playlists after All Songs.  This document describes how to enable and use VoiceOver

How are you loading playlists on the shuffle?

  • Which compressor Type is the Best for Voice over recordings?

The compressor Plug in in sdtr pro has a vca, platinum, opto etc
Which One is the Best for male Voice overs?
I don't Know the differences opto, platinum, opto....

Opto, VCA, and FET refer to models of different analog circuitry that accomplishes compression in different ways.
Not positive, but I think "platinum" is not really a model, but the plug's own compression scheme.
When I worked at an audio post facility, we had hardware UA 1176 compressors, which are FET compressors. They sounded pretty fantastic, but that's not saying that the model in the plugin will sound that way.
Here's a nice discussion of the different types:
    http://www.barryrudolph.com/mix/comp.html
Scroll down to the salmon background sidebar.
Ultimately, it's really best to try the different models out and see which sounds best on your material. Let your ears be the judge.
    Good luck!

  • Ipod 4th Gen Shuffle - voice over prob with podcasts

Hi. I have TWO of these cute little shuffles and I really like them.
The problem is that each lives with its OWN Mac, each with its own install of itunes on the mac and BOTH OF THEM will refuse to say some of the PODCAST names.
So for example in the computery voice when I press and hold the voice over button it will say:
ABOVE AND BEYOND TRANCE AROUND THE WORLD
then "Podcast 2" instead  of "The Dave Ramsey Pocast
    Then For mac eyes only
Then "podcast 4" instead of "Tiestos club life".
It doesn't seem to matter how many podcast episodes are in each major podcast label or whether I have started listening to the podcast or if its "unplayed".
I have both of the shuffles set to "sync all podcasts" because I only have a few podcasts and there is always room..
    It seems sort of random.
    Any thoughts?

SOLVED! The person who posted in another  message to voice over not working with all podcasts got it right and it worked
So you go to   SUMMARY tab when clicking on your ipod , unclick voice over, click APPLY. Then click voice over then click APPLY. Then it all works!

sanfranciscotx was the person who gave this anser.
You need to go to the Shuffle settings page, disable Voiceover, apply settings, the re-enable Voiceover to reset the spoken data.

when I use voice over to read an epub in my Ibooks app, which is in Dutch, sometimes he start reading a book with an English Female voice and some books he reads with the Dutch male voice (which is good). All my epubs are Dutch books so the English voice sound terrible trying to pronounce Dutch. Can i fix this problem? Thanks, Tom

It sounds like you may have multiple problems, but none of them are likely to be caused by malware.
First, the internet-related issues may be related to adware or a network compromise. I tend to lean more towards the latter, based on your description of the problem. See:
    http://www.adwaremedic.com/kb/baddns.php
    http://www.adwaremedic.com/kb/hackedrouter.php
If investigation shows that this is not a network-specific issue, then it's probably adware. See my Adware Removal Guide for help finding and removing it. Note that you mention AdBlock as if it should have prevented this, but it's important to understand that ad blockers do not protect you against adware in any way. Neither would any kind of anti-virus software, which often doesn't detect adware.
As for the other issues, it sounds like you've got some serious corruption. I would be inclined to say it sounds like a failing drive, except it sounds like you just got it replaced. How did you get all your files back after the new drive was installed?

  • I use Garageband 09 to record voice overs via podcasting, female narrator noisy, but keep getting an intermittent clicking sound. It's not the metronome. I have a good quality external USB mic plugged in. Any ideas?

I use GarageBand 09 to record voice overs via the Podcasting then Female Narrator Noisy utility. I have a good quality external mic plugged in. I keep getting an intermittent clicking sound on the audio track. It's not the metronome as that is turned off. I have to edit out the clicking after recording. I can see the spikes on the waveline. Any ideas how I can prevent this happening?

Hi again and thanks so much for replying.
The 'mic jack' on the old mic is both wide and large, measuring about an inch and a quarter from the base (where it comes out of the black encasing) to the edge of the tip (sort of cone shaped). As I can't plug this in directly to any port in the back of the Mac, I thought it might be possible to to buy some sort of adapter so that I could plug in the jack at one end, with a USB connector at the other end to go straight into the Mac. But I see from your comment that you are suggesting a smaller jack itself (i.e., large size jack to small size jack and then plug in to the small round port, instead of jack to USB port)?
At the Mac shop I bought a USB adapter to connect up a second monitor (screen). I've just dug out the package and it's called a mini display port to VGA adapter. But back to the mic issue, I don't want to use the old mic really, I'm just trying to eliminate whether or not my usual mic, or its USB cable, is at fault and causing the clicking.
I looked on Amazon for a suitable adapter but there was mention of these little gadgets having a sound card. As the Mac obviously has its own internal sound card, I couldn't see the point of another (exernal) one, unless it was actually required to convert the sound from input to output (playback) or something. One review said sound quality was lost but the person had a problem with his speakers, not a ticking sound while playing back recordings - which is obviously my problem.
I do have a headset that I used to use for Skype. It has a pink and a green jack. I could plug one into the "headphones symbol' port and try recording again with Garageband. At least the jack is the right size. Again, this is just for the purpose of eliminating whether my good mic on a stand with the anti-popping sheild is at fault.
While my Mac does have both inbuilt speakers (I don't need external ones) and an inbuilt microphone, the latter is not of a high enough quality for voice overs, hence buying an external mic etc. But whatever is causing the clicking or ticking is obviously affecting the quality of my recordings. As you can imagine, it is very time-consuming to edit out the ticking spikes and if the noise appears during speech, you can't edit it out at all.
Please keep the suggestions coming. I am determined to get to the bottom of this for my sake and everyone else who is suffering from the same problem!

  • Voice over - female British

I used to be able to select British female accent for my iPhone 4. Is this not possible anymore?

Step One: Go to the settings page on your iPhone 4S.
Step Two: Tap on General to go to the General settings page. This is where you’ll find Siri.
Step Three: Tap on Siri to enter the settings for Siri.  You’ll find some languages listed:
Step Four: Select “English (United Kingdom)” and you’re done.
The female Siri voice will magically (not quite) turn into male voice with the English accent.
    Vice-versa!
