Maleware Attack mentioning skype

All of a sudden over the last few days my Maleware Bytes has been reporting the following at random times during the day
Blocked Access to potentially malicious website
188.130.177.4
Port 36929, Process: skype.exe
now what I am trying to find out is if this attack is something that is getting through from skype its self or if it is possible that it is coming from one of those that are on my contact list. As the ones I have been in contact with over the last few days have not noticed the same messsage on thier computers.

Ironic that almost one year later I have almost an identical IP attack. Amazing that these are still allowed to continue to threaten Skype users and nothing is done...

We have someone placing phishing calls to us (one of those ones that asks us to go to a different site) but this had the additional details that...
The camera activated before the calls. About a minute or so. We see the light come on and while we are trying to figure out what that is all about the call then comes in.
When the call comes we cannot hang up the call nor even close Skype. We have to either reboot the system or use the windows Task Manager to get rid of it.
So far we have had four of these come in over the past 3 days or so. On three of them we had to shut off the computer to get rid of them. On the fourth I tried the task manager and after killing Skype the call was gone. But then I restarted the system just to be sure.
Also of note is that this morning a friend of mine was describing the exact same thing happening at his house. Both he and his son's computers got one of these calls. Although my friend says he did not notice either way his son does say that he noticed the light was on showing his camera was activated before the call actually came in. In both of their cases they could not get the cal to hang up or Skype to close so they shut down their computers.
Final detail, our comuters are set to not allow calls from people outside our contact list. These calls all came from IDs I have never heard of and are not in our lists.

Well...it seems to me if there was a security hole in Skype itself we'd be hearing about a LOT more cases than the few you're reporting. I wonder if what you're seeing isn't a case of a few Skype users you know having their accounts hacked. (That does happen.)
Think about it...if I was on your Contacts list, and someone hacked my Skype account, and the hacker sent you an IM that seemed to come from me with a link to malware, you'd think the message was from me, someone you knew, and you might click on the link.
If I were a phisher in that situation I'd say something in my IM like..."hey it's me. Take a look at this. It's safe and it works great."
I'm not putting my tin hat on just yet but I will see if I can bring this thread to the attention of someone at Skype.

G4 Macs have no built video/webcams or microphones.
The best solutions are USB devices.
First, you need to determine the version of Skype that you can use. The newest Skype version 5 can only run on Macs with a min. OS X version of OS 10.5.8 Leopard.
Tthe older version of Skype that can run in your Mac is Skype 2.8 found here.

There are not a lot of webcams or microphones that work with both Macs and Skype.
Here is the only webcam, from Logitech, that I was using on my previous G4 that was both PC and Mac compatible, but the requirements say you need 1.0 Ghz CPU and OS X 10.5.8 Leopard.

Logitech also has a few Mac compatible USB headset audio/microphones, but don't mention Skype compatibilty.
You would need to buy and try to test.
Plantronics makes only one or two models that will work with Macs and general Internet Telephony and include Skype, also.

Skype 7.0 crashing

Every time I sign in, Skype crashes. I've uninstalled and reinstalled countless times, but then not only does it stop responding, Windows can't 'find a solution' and closes the program. Any suggestions?

There aren't any that actually mention skype. In order of time,

Skype Crashes on my Windows profile ONLY

Hello All,
Whenever I use Skype on my windows profile, it crashes while on a call. Just started happening last week. I have tried a system restore and uninstalling and reinstalling Skype, same issue. I tried logging in to skype using a different windows profile on my computer and it works just fine.
Windows 7
Any suggestions?

If you cannot find any error messages explicitly mentioning Skype as crashing application, then please, run the DirectX diagnostics tool.
Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.
Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.

I am totally lost on navigating these forums...Reloading Acrobat, Bridge, and Photo Shop Elements

I posted this question somewhere and a couple people answered it, but I cannot find it for the life of me! I am navigating different browsers trying to get back to my old Firefox, which I think I've managed to do.
My computer went in the shop and had to have a damaged hard drive replaced. How do I re-load the software without getting dinged for it again? I do not know what versions I had to start with. Acrobat was a free version? I think? Old... Photo Shop was newer...I think PSE11 or later...not the latest though. And it was not subscription, which I definitely do NOT want! I have no idea the version of Bridge I had. I'm operating on OS X Yosemite.
And please do not respond asking me to Skype you because the shop did not put Skype back on my computer, and Skype decided it did not like my attempts at my password OR my attempts at changing my password, and has suspended my account. And I cannot remember when I signed onto Skype so I cannot get my account back without a lot of my time being wasted. Just another frustration. I may just trash it. I never use Skype anyway...

You will need to figure out what programs you had so that you can redownload and install them.

To do that you should be able to find them if you log into your Adobe account online and look under the My Products section. If you cannot figure out how to get into your online account I don't know what else to tell you beyond try to contact Adobe support and see if you can convince them to help you. Without anything to tie you to having purchased Adobe software that might be difficult.

FaceTime can work only with Apple devices that run FaceTime.

Either the latest iPhone or iPod touch could work to FaceTime with your daughter.
The FaceTime for Mac (beta) http://www.apple.com/mac/facetime/ can also work.
However, system requirements include an iNtel Mac and the latest Mac OS!
As lllaass mentions, Skype can now make video calls _to other Skype users_, but NOT to FaceTime users. Neither Skype nor any current PC software can connect with FaceTime.

Horrible Payment System

My co-worker is in China, I ask her to get subscription with my credit card, but China region only offer region payment options that I can't use my Master card for business reimburanment. It seems China Skype is totally seperate from standard Skype account. I tried to gift my friend skype e-gift card, yet my credit card couldn't go through as well (confirmed my card doesn't have any issue as I was able to make other online pruchase at the same time). These payment systems all has different interface, seems like it is develop by different team? I end up using Paypal to fill in credit for my account (not my preferred option for reimburnacement), but my co-worker in China is still unable to use skype still.
Come on Microsoft! Smooth payment is fundenmetnal for good business. Not to mention Skype is dealing with global connection. If I can't get my co-worker to have money talking to me on Skype, how can you expect me to use Skype for my family use? My mom don't even know how to shop online with credit card at all.
ps1. By the way, Skype needs to provide invoice for all transcation. First online purchase that doesn't offer me printed PDF invoice at all.
ps2. I am not looking for solution here, as my co-worker is now seeking Skype alternative. This post is for my emotional expression on Skype payment system.

Can I re-enable SSL in Firefox without downgrading? When I hit an SSL-only site, my only current option is to use another browser.

Just hit an SSL-only site that I needed to access that FF 35 blocked. I don't see an obvious way to create an exception or re-enable it. We need this option... many users understand POODLE and can make an intelligent decision regarding the risks. TLS has its vulnerabilities as well.

IChat - General quality

Hi,
I have been using iChat and Skype for the last 2 years. My Girlfriend lives in the states and we both have macs so life has been made much, much easier.
To be honest, I have tended to favour Skype much more than iChat fo rthe simple reason that the sound quality has so so much better. iChat was ...ok. But Skype made you feel like you were in the same room. I assume that it is the same for everyone and not just us, so why has mac not been able (or willing) to have something of the same quality?
Towards the end of last year we both aquired iSights. We couldn't always get them to work on Skype so we started using them with ichat with the audio muted and talking via skype.
Both of us travel a lot due to work so a lot of the time we are in hotels and I know the internet connection can be a bit crappy, but even at home I have to say that I have always been a little bit dissapointed at the iChat video quality, but only because when I first saw it advertised the picture/video looked amazing. And I have never seen it come close. On the up side, I certainly am not complaing. Both services have kept us in touch like we never could have 5 years ago. And for free, too!
On the subject of Skype, the quality over the 2 years I have been using it has deteriorated to an almost un-usable standard. The amount of users has more than doubled in that time and I also read that ISP's are now managing the flow of peer to peer users, slowing it down when they want to.
Unfortunately I am not that knowledgable about these kind of things and so really don't know how it all works.
Am I wrong to wish that apple could make a better way to comunicate?

I'd already read some of the posts you guys have commented on this matter and I took the advice of setting streaming speeds and bandwidths. But it didn't have any effect.
I apologise for keep mentioning (skype), but when it was good it certainly was good. Audio wise at least. I'm still curious as to why Mac haven't had anything that good yet. If however iChat and Skype are two completely different things then you'll have to excuse me for my ignorance.

Swype for Torch 9860

I was wondering if Blackberry app developers were looking into adding Swype feature for torch 9860 since its the only completely touch screen phone avaliable, in fact I'm suprised the feature didn't come pre-installed..Blackberry update developers should please add it to an update software for Torch 9860...it is a great phone but that feature or even an app would make the phone better..thank you

Q10 stops playing sound

Here is the scenario:
I have a brand new Q10. I do not have many apps installed other than those that come with the phone. I can mention Skype, Webex and Tune In, as apps that use sound/video, but they are not frequently used.
My OS release is 10.1.0.4181.
I run my music player (the original one that comes with BB) and if either take a picture, receive a BBM video call or any phone call, later on my music player can no longer play anything. I can only solve that by rebooting, which is obviously very inconvenient.
Any ideas?

Then complete a reload of the device software as listed here:
Open BlackBerry Link.
Ensure the computer is connected to the Internet.
Power off the BlackBerry 10 smartphone or BlackBerry PlayBook tablet.
Connect the device to the computer.
When the device button is available on the bottom of the BlackBerry Link window, click it.
Click the Reload button.
Test to confirm whether or not these steps resolve the issue. If not, please contact your point of purchase for options.

Death Threats to my home number

Today I received several calls in a few minutes time from a very angry man who was cussing and yelling at me to stop calling his phone number. He somehow thought that my home number, which is in no way associated with Skype, (and he never mentioned Skype, I'll get to why I'm here in a moment) was calling his phone constantly and waking him up. He was so angry he actually threatened to shoot me.
I'm in this forum now because the number that he continually called from was 661-748-0240. An easy google search turned up a Skype routing number. The name on the caller ID with that number was "Daniel.harsh1" which I'm guessing is the guys user name.
I have never called a Daniel Harsh, and he is threatening me over the phone. I can't find a number to contact Skype (in the US) anywhere, but I thought you guys in the forum might be able to provide some advice on what to do.
