Man iOS 5.1, my iTouch won't turn on

My iTouch 4g won't freaking turn back on after I tried to upgrade the iOS crap.
There was an error and iTunes and it was not responding.
What could I do?

- First try placing the iPod in recovery mode and then restore. For recovery mode:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
- Next try DFU mode:

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I try to restore it and then it says something went wrong and it won't work. So I've been without my phone for a couple days now. It gives me error code (29). The phone almost reboots and then 3/4 of the way through it gives me the error message.

  • ITouch Won't Turn On, Connect to iTunes, or Connect to My Computer...

Hi, I recently tried restoring my iPod Touch. After forcing it into DFU mode (Holding down both buttons until the Apple and Cable sign appears)I was not able to continue restoring it with iTunes. iTunes picked up my iPod in DFU mode and says what it normally says, "iTunes has detected and iPod in restore mode. You must restore it for it to work with iTunes", it then brought me to the iPod Touch screen where it has the tabs 'Music', 'Videos', 'Pictures', etc. and where all you can press is Restore. FROM THIS POINT I clicked on My Music by mistake. Now I can't get back to that screen so I can finish restoring. My iPod won't turn on, as in it's completely off, and won't connect to my computer, as in it doesn't make the 'Beeping' sound when I plug it in or shows up in My Computer.
Much help would be appreciated. I've considered sending in my iTouch for repair or maybe a replacment but Apple's repair form is not working at the moment. There is no Apple Store close to where I live, which is in a small town in ND. I've tried the following with no success.
    Re-Installed iTunes
    Unplug and Replug my iTouch
Tried different USB ports (All 2.0)
    Restarted computer

He makes no mention what so ever if he tried to force restore it again after the first attempt.
He said when he forced the restore he hit "My Music" in error then his PC hung and his iPod would no longer be detected by the PC. He never said he tried the force restore a second time.
Why the **** did you even post if you don't have anything of value to add to the conversation anyway.

  • My iTouch won't turn on no matter what I do

I have an iTouch, and for some reason... It won't turn on.
I tried resetting it by holding both buttons, plugging it into the computer, waited about 25 minutes to see if it was dead & it still WILL NOT turn on. My computer won't even recognize it. What should I do? It's the 1st gen. but it's been VERY well taken care of.

Sounds like you may need a new battery.

  • My iTouch won't turn on and the computer doesn't register it when plugged in.

The screen never went white or crashed, it just won't turn on. I tried plugging it into the computer but it won't register and the base of the iPod near the plug area got really hot. I don't know what's wrong with it or what to do. Help please?

Any charging icon when the iPod Touch get connected?
If no, you can let the iPod Touch connected with any power source, such as computer usb port, then press and hold the "sleep / wake" and "Home" button at the same time until you can see an Apple icon on the screen (usually take around 20 seconds)
Maybe you have to send it to Apple if still won't switched on.

  • My itouch won't turn on at all and i cant restart it because the home button doesn't work. what do I do?

My itouch (5th gen. 32GB)  was working just fine, with a full battery. I set it down, and 15 minutes later it didn't turn on. I brought it back home to see if it needed to be charged for some reson, but it was still pitch black. I plugged it into the computer to see if anything would happen but nothing did. I know you can reboot/ restart it by holding the power and home button at the same time for a few seconds, but my home button is broken... I have no clue what to do...

If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.

Have you tried to "Reset" your iPod Touch?
*If you can't turn your iPhone or iPod touch on or off*
You may need to reset. Important: Only reset your iPhone or iPod touch if it is no longer responding. To reset, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • My iTouch won't turn on. =/

I thought that it might be dead since it wouldn't turn on so I plugged it in the charger and it didn't even charge and now it's making a weird noise. =/ Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do?

Take it to the Apple store. Also this is the wrong forum, this is the iPod Mini forum.

After I updated my iPad 2 to iOS 8.2, my iPad won't turn on, it just stays on a loop where it shows the apple logo, does the screenshot effect then darkness. I tried connecting it to iTunes to reset it but my computer can't read it. What can I do?

    Hello David,
Thank you for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're not able to use iMessage on your iPad. You've tried some good troubleshooting steps, and I'd recommend these additional steps:
Turn off iMessage and FaceTime and restart
Go to Settings > Messages and turn off iMessage.
Go to Settings > FaceTime and turn off FaceTime.
    Restart your device.
Turn iMessage and FaceTime back on.
Still not activated after an hour?
It might take a few minutes to activate iMessage and FaceTime. If you've waited more than an hour, try these steps:
Make sure that your device has the latest version of iOS.
If you're using an iPhone, contact your carrier to make sure that you can receive SMS messages.
    Contact Apple Support.

  • My iTouch 4th Gen won't turn on. It won't charge. I tried doing the "home" + "power/sleep" button. And before my itouch shuts off, it's battery power level is low.

My itouch won't turn on, i tried the "home" +  "power button and still no response from the itouch. also i know that my battery was low when it turned off. I tried charging it on my desktop or in my usb charger. still no response from my itouch. it is 4th Gen, it has the latest software and it is only two months old.

Try letting it charge for a little while longer.  Then try another hard reset.  Only this time hold those two buttons together anywhere from 10 seconds to a minute.  Any luck there?
Otherwise, see the Will not power on section of this Apple support document.

    Try:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
