Manage Bookmarks on Preview application

Hi there,
does anybody know, how to manage bookmarks on preview application?
I want to group my bookmarks in different folders or how can I highlight pages or sth. like this?

ideato, thank you for your reply. perhaps I am missing it, but I cannot find anything in these articles about how to create bookmark folders on Firefox/Android, not how to move bookmarks between folders. I can see how to sync bookmarks to desktop, organize them into folders on desktop, and then sync the folders back to phone. I am hoping for something that can be done just on the phone.

  • Problems with Viewing JPEGs in Preview Application Solved

Here is the fix that took care of JPG files in the Preview Application.
    • First, remove the preference .plist files regarding Preview:
    com.apple.Preview. bookmarks.plist
    com.apple.Preview.LSSharedFileList.plist
    com.apple.Preview.plist
    • Second, download Snow Leopard 10.6.2 combo update (MacOSXUpdCombo10.6.2.dmg) from Apple Support and install the update.
    • Third, the computer will restart with the 10.6.2 update installed and Preview works! Hope this works for you.

I scan student work that is handwritten. I use preview to select a portion of that work and then I paste the portion of the image I have selected into pages or some other application. Since upgrading to Snow Leopard when I partially select an area in preview everything appears normal. But when I paste into another app it pastes the entire image, not the portion I have selected.
I don't know if this is related to your problem, but you might find this TidBITs discussion thread useful:

  • Managing bookmarks with a PC?

    Hi,
I'm trying to find a quick and easy to manage bookmarks saved in my E71. I know there is feature of synchronizing bookmars with your PC browser, but I'm rather interested in creating folders, sorting them, etc. Do you know any tools or hints how to do it with your PC, PC Suite and default applications?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Tutorial for managing bookmarks in iPhone environment?

I hate asking newbie questions but here goes. Searched for this but found threads regarding desktop environment.
When I open Safari on my iPhone 3CS, I see bookmarks imported from my pc when I synched. Don't need all those so deleted most. Here's the problem: if I type in a new address in Safari addres field at top, and go to that page, then do Add Bookmark, it doesn't show up the next time I open Safari and look at the bookmarks. If I start to re-type it in the address field, the full link and title appear below, so I know it's storing it somewhere.
Can someone just point me toward an online tutorial for manageing bookmarks within the iPhone environment not the desktop?
    Thanks!

it's one of the dangers to BYOD.....The best way to manage this is education(unless you are ready for MDM).
Granted that can be a bigger pain in the buttocks than working around it.
What I tell people(having had this happen to me a couple of times) is when it's time to change your password
1.) Make sure you have all your devices with you
2.) disable the wireless on everything
3.) change password via your laptop
4.) enable one device, and go change the password there < rinse repeat for subsequent devices.
Now, when the company I was working for moved to a MDM, the issue went away on my phone and tablet, as the mail settings were controlled by the MDM, so when i changed my password, it pushed to my other devices.

    Steve

Can you open the Preview program without loading a file, like by itself?
If it doesn't load then I suspect a corrupt Preview preference file.
Deleting the System Preference or other .plist file
Can you open other files with Preview, like jpg's and images?
How about other PDFs? or is it just that one you have downloaded?

  • After upgrading to Lion the bookmarks in Preview returns error message.

After upgrading to Lion the bookmarks in Preview returns error message : The File "****" couldn't be opened because you don't have permission to view it. To change the perimssion, select the item in finder and Choose File info.  I have bookmarked plenty of files in Preview.  How to overcome this error message???

Doesn't work Steve. I think it is an issue with Preview being sandboxed (check the sandbox column in Activity Monitor: Preview = Yes). Sandboxed apps restrict file access to those the user has explicitly selected. My theory is that this causes the unfortunate side effect of bookmarked or linked PDFs not working. A simple test: open a file with bookmarks, manually open the bookmarked file and then select the bookmark in the first file - it should open with no complaints about permissions (which leads to a weak workaround: open all the PDFs you intend to work with!).

  • Is there a way of printing the file name from within the Preview application?

If I'm printing a file within Apple's Preview application, I sometimes want to be able to print the file name at the edge of the document. Does anyone know of way of doing this?

Thanks for replying, that goes some way to answering the question, but I'm also looking to see how much space each app and its associated documents are using, i.e. Pages comes in at 112Mb for the app alone, but I'd like to know how much space is being used by the documents as well.
    Once again thanks,

    Hi Abhishek,
According to your description, my understanding is that the User Profile Synchronization service stuck on ‘Starting’ or ‘Stopping’.
Please check whether you installed SQL 2012 Native Client (Pre-requisites) on SharePoint server. If yes, download and install SQL 2008 R2 Native Client from the below location:
    http://download.microsoft.com/download/9/1/3/9138773A-505D-43E2-AC08-9A77E1E0490B/1033/x64/sqlncli.msi
From the SharePoint server ->control panel -> add/Remove programs , please confirm that the SQL 2008 Native Client is listed.
Make sure that the farm account is a member of the Administrators group on the server on which you are trying to start the User Profile Synchronization service, then restart the SharePoint Timer Service.
Set the FIM services to "Local System" before starting the service.
There is a troubleshooting for User Profile Synchronization Service start issues, please have a look at:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg750257(v=office.14).aspx

  • I can no longer find a manage bookmarks tab anywhere in my (the latest) Firefox browser.

I have been using browsers for over 15 years, and Firefox for about 10. After the next to last Firefox upgrade I was no longer able to find a manage bookmarks tab. I can bookmark a page and place it in an existing folder, but I can no longer create folders, arrange tabs alphabetically in a folder or delete folders. I have searched everywhere for help, but found none on point.
By the way, it was very annoying that after I had typed in a question about the same as above, I then went to Troubleshooting Information and tried to find help, but when I was unable to do so and I returned to this page, my question was gone and I had to start over again.

OK working now ... for some reason the bookmarks screen was behind the Firefox screen ... duh .... how about renaming this function something which indicates it has an edit function? Like in the past ...

  • Why can't I get the Preview application to open PDF files?

Since the end of April 2014,  I have had problems with the Preview application. When I try to open Preview, I get the following message: "This application 'Preview.app can't be opened." "-1712.". I tried a recommended solution that I found in the Apple Support Communities, which said I could go to Finder > press the Option key  to show Library and then go Preferences and then search for the Preview plist file and delete it.
    Unfortunately, that did not work.
Two other Apple owners had the same problem and said the above procedure had worked for them, but post were back in the year  2012. When I followed the above procedures, it did not make any change in the problem with Preview. I still cannot open it. Does any one out there have an suggestions?
It is possible that any recent updates for MacBook Pro from Apple caused the problem? Will I forever have to resort to using Adobe's PDF program?

    Hi aK'
    Nice, memorable user name!
-1712 is a timed out error. One reported cause (with other applications) is that the application is attempting to open a large number of files, or a file that no longer exists.
Try holding down the shift key when launching preview. This prevents the application from attempting to open windows that were not closed before quitting the application.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • Firefox 4.0 no "manage bookmarks" no import html bookmarks?

When I go to your help files the answers are for versions prior to 4.0 In 4.0 there is no "manage bookmarks" selection on the menu. I want to import .html bookmark lists and .nab but all that comes up is IE.

Not sure why, but the manager/organizer was renamed to "Show All Bookmarks".

  • Preview application not working

When I open a pdf, the Preview application opens in the dock, but nothing shows up on the screen. I can force quit Preview by ctrl-clicking, but that's it. Any suggestions?

Open Preview first & then select the PDF file to Open.
I use Adobe Reader instead of Preview.
     Cheers, Tom

  • New Topic: warning icon in Preview Application

while converting a image from a tiff format to a jpg format in the Preview Application there is a yellow triangle with a exclamation point that i understand is a warning and i do see that the file size that was in tiff does change to a smaller, "substantially" smaller file size in jpg format
The OS is a 10.5.8 and all is up to date on the MacBook. I keep the machine off line for web production, except to update misc apps.
Question: What is the warning about, there is not a message with the warning icon.
I have tried to find a documentation for Preview at Apple, nothing exists.
I could not find a topic of discussion for Ordinary Applications so i placed this topic here.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Your JPEG will be quite a lot smaller than the TIFF file, that's normal. Don't know what the warning is,
maybe it is telling you that changing from TIFF to JPEG is compressing the file and losing quality.

  • My bookmark pull down menu doesn't offer " manage bookmarks". In all the support Ican find this is how to edit bookmarks. How do I find the manage link if it's not in teh pulldown menu?

    Question
My bookmark pull down menu doesn't offer " manage bookmarks". In all the support I can find this is how to edit bookmarks. How do I find the manage link if it's not in the pull-down menu?

In Firefox 4, "Organize Bookmarks" has been changed to "Show All Bookmarks" to open the Library window.

  • Print Preview Application changed - HELP

My Problem is that when I press the Preview button (or the preview as PDF in the PDF submenu) in the Print dialog it brings up the QuickTime player application instead of the Preview application.
I already selected the document of interest and used the Get Info window to set Preview as the application to open the document. Even did this for all documents of this type. This is NOT the problem.
I want Preview to open when I click on the Preview button in the Print dialog, not the QuickTime Player.
How / where can I fix or delete the preview settings so Preview is the application behind the Preview button in the Print dialog?
    Thank you.
PS: someone else has the same problem under 10.4

As I have read a thread somewhere else, where someone had this problem with Adobe Reader instead of Quicktime, and had it solved with deleting the Adrobe Reader, I deleted QuickTime - and now the +Print Preview+ opens Safari.
    So it's still HELP
