Manage Cedentials in User Accounts
While looking around my User Account information I noticed a Generic Credential in Manage Credentials. It is named virtualapp/didlogical complete with a user name and password. Also is entered on the Local Machine and I am wondering what this is for. Some searches show as part or from Windows Messenger and or Windows Live. Also it as being from a Update from a FAKE Microsoft Update Website. From what other users have said it returns automatically after being reomoved sort of like the Google updater so does anybody have a clue about this?
This is for a Toshiba NB255-N245 mini netbook with Windows 7 Starter
mini notebook NB255-N245
Virtualapp/Didlogical is a credential that is stored when you use any of the Windows Live applications (and some other Microsoft services).

How can users add their devices to Profile Manager without a user account?
We would like to allow company devices to be tracked, inventoried and managed in Profile Manager without creating a user account for each person so they can log into /MyDevices to download the mobile profiles. We aren't staffed to have someone manage user accounts as quickly as iPads are being purchased.
If we can't do some kind of guest access, can one user, maybe called Enroll, have literally one thousand devices attached to them?
The other alternative is to have the profiles on a small webpage with a password to download.the easiest way is to use apple configurator
using apple configurator
enable enrollment in PM
un tick restrict to users in device library
apple configurator should pick up your server certs
and the PM auto enrollment profile
setup a enrolment wifi lan
configure your IOS devices with apple configurator adding the
server cert and your enrolment wifi lan
you'll still have to handle each device tapping yes to install each profile
but you should end up with the ipads in PM with no users
from there you can set which wifi you wish them to connect to
eg staff wifi, email setings, VPN etc.
open the correct ports on firewalls to allow PM to work internaly and externaily
and pr any port forwading as nessessary and you'll be able to wipe lock change settings outside on your network, providing the device is online. -
i am new in FIM......please provide the simplest Answer
Any step by step guide....
and do i need Echange Server for that...i just want the communication between FIM & AD.A far I understand, during user creation you would choose manager?
It can be done by, for example, adding one attribute in schema. And as long this attribute would not be filled out by manager, user would not be provisioned to AD. But provisioning has to be realized through Synchronization Rules or Metaverse rules extensions
-> provision user only if this attribute is filled (or "true" if boolean).
So it's rather simple:
1. Add new boolean attribute to FIM schema and add this attribute as user's attribute,
2. Make "manager" field in FIM Portal as obligatory when creating user (via RCDC).
3. Make MPR that manager can update such attribute.
3.1. If wanted, add MPR that notifies manager that new user is waiting for acceptance.
4. Make provisioning rules extension - in code or Synch Rule.
Exchange is not needed. Exchange is only useful if you want FIM to create mailboxes automatically when creating user or if you want FIM to manage mailboxes.
Keep trying -
Windows 7 Home Premium problem creating new user account
I am unable to create a new user account on my Windows 7 Home Premium computer. I have 3 accounts on it already, two are adminstrators, and just trying to add a fourth one (standard user).
I go to User Accounts, click Create new account, give it a name, keep Standard user checked, and press Create Account. The account appears to get created and shows up on the User Accounts screen, though it shows that it is password protected already, even
though I didn't have an opportunity to give it a password yet. I can manage that new user account and delete the password, and it then shows up on User Accounts as not having a password.
When I try to log on as that user from the main logon screen, it prompts me for the password (if I have specified one), but it doesn't accept the password (I've tried defining and using various ones), and I get the message "The user name or password is incorrect".
If I don't define a password for that account, when I click on the account button to logon, I get that same error message immediately.
I also noticed that C:\Users doesn't include the new user account folder there. Don't know if that should've been created at this point before logging on for the first time. I also noticed that there's a "Default User" folder that has a lock on the folder
icon, and I'm not able to open that folder (says it's invalid). There is a "Default" folder there with some content in it and I am able to view it. Don't know if either of these folders act as templates for new users.
At some point months ago I did have a profile problem with one of the existing accounts, and had to follow some suggestions on repairing that user profile. Don't know if that perhaps has complicated things. The 3 existing user accounts are working fine.
Any tips on what I can try to get a new account established?
Thanks, Chuck

I agree with the same problem and the answer below did not work either. I tried changing permissions to Users directory and that did not work either. I even tried creating the directory name of user I wanted to install and that was recognized and
being used, but will not start a user directory for new user. -
Hi Team,
We plan to change "admin" password for one of our WAAS device.
How to use central manager to config for all of the device.( CM- is our side VM machine)
Warning: User configuration performed via CLI may be overwritten
by the central manager. Please use the central manager to configure
user accounts.
Thank you

Extension Manager CC not loading under User account on Mac Mountain Lion
HI
I am trying to install a DWUser add in called EasyRotator into Dreamweaver CC. I cannot get Extnesion Manager to launch properly though. The Manager window comes up but the little white clock icon simply spins around for ages then finally when it stops it does not list any applications despite the fact that I have the full Master Collection installed. I managed to get it to load properly under my Admin account but it did not install the add in for all users for some reason (I was not even offered any option about that - when I installed this add in to Dreamweaver CS6 with the CS6 Extension Manager I was given the option of installing for only me or all users).
When I log in under my non-admin user account (I use a separate admin account as I was advised to do this for security reasons) I launch Extension manager CC but it takes forever to launch and when it does it lists no Adobe applications, hence I cannot install the add in to Dreamweaver for this account.
I am having to edit the easyrotator in Dreamweaver CS6 as that works! Why does CC not work?
Oh and BTW when I try to close the Extension Manger CC it fails to respond and I have to force quit it.
Any help greatly appreciated.
DHi there folks,
I am still hoping someone here can get a fix for my issue as it remains unsolved. Anyone want to wade in with some help PLEASE.

How do I change a managed user account to a non-managed account?
I had a Time Machine back up of a user account that was managed by an IT group at the last company I worked for. I am no longer employed by that company and I used Migration Assistant to import my Time Machine backed up user account to a new Mac. Now I have all sorts of issues with permissions (I can't open VLC because I can't run it as root, I can't run Steam, I can't open iTunes). I've already repaired permissions using Disk Utility and I restarted in Recovery mode and did the "resetpassword" command in Terminal and reset Home folder permissions. No luck. Any ideas?
I looked into this a little more carefully. It's not the Guest account. It clearly indicates "Managed".
Searching for more information, this is something related to Parental Control, but I can't seem to get this account to take on the characteristics of either an administrator or user role. -
Can't access a managed user account in system preferences
Hi I've recently upgraded to M.L and migrated everything from my son's old computer to this new one. His account is still showing in the System preferences but now it has an orange check mark next to it and says it's a managed account. There are some minor parental controls on there currently.
In system preference, I cannot select his user account. Any ideas why and how I remedy this??Try repairing permissions and ACLs on that user.
The Repair Permissions run from Disk Utility in your Applications doesn't touch anything in any of the user folders, so startup holding command-r keys into your Recovery Volume.
From the menu bar choose Utilities then select Terminal.
At the prompt type resetpassword
Press return
The Password reset utility will launch (do not reset password)
Instead, click your Mac hard drive.
Then from the drop-down select the user account you want to repair. At the bottom of the window, you’ll see an area labeled ‘Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs’. Click the Reset button there.
The process takes a couple of minutes. When it’s done, quit the programs you’ve opened and restart your Mac. -
Mail inbox shows no mail on managed user account
Upgraded to 10.5.6, mail works fine in my main account.
However in managed account for my daughter her mail shows no messages.
i can find her old inbox, I want to restore it to her inbox.. Any thoughts?
I am using parental controls, I have added all her email addresses to the list. I can see her previous recipient list.
Also when I close Mail in her user account I must force quit it, do not have to in my main user account.
iMac G5, 2 gb ram, did archive and install to load 10.5.6, all software up graded, permissions verified and fixed using Onyx and disk utility.I certainly agree you have to wait to clone intel vs ppc!
But the settings inside the user should certainly be portable - they are just XML files and the options need to be the same even if the code has to be different when compiled as a universal binary versus PPC only code.
The time out period and on/off status as well as whether you need a password to unlock/unsleep is a system wide setting. The last admin user to make a change there wins (undoes any other settings)
The other settings can be different for each user. (Dock icons/arrangement).
Again, simply make one mac perfect and then make a disk image of the /Users/shortname folder on the "correct" mac and copy the contents of that folder to another machine. I think you will find that as long as you correctly preserver the owner permissions/bits the new mac will look exactly like the old one. -
After installing the reportservice/database i cannot use the Configuration Manager Console 2012 anymore with my own AD account. (The accounts of my colleagues are stil working)
When i login i get the following message:
The user account running the Configuration Manager console has insufficient permissions to read information from the Configuration Manager site database. The account must belong to a security role in Configuration Manager. The account must also have
the Windows Server Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) Remote Activation permission for the computer running the Configuration Manager site server and the SMS Provider.
I checked the following:
I am a administrative user in SCCM (Full Administrator)
I am a member of the administrator group on the server
Deleted HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ConfigMgr10
I tried to start it on multiple workstations and deleted my roaming profile
Any more suggestions?Hi,
Maybe you could have a look on the below blog.

Managed user account, the dock, and the full finder?
I am creating a simple lab for school (26 computers wired together with CAT 6 switchers and no server...just me as the admin account) and will be creating managed accounts for each period. When I have been testing this, logging in as a student, I cannot figure out how to switch to the full finder so I can change the dock appearance for the account or if I want to open an application it simply denies me access. I thought it would give me the option of authenticating it with my admin password but no such luck yet...
Also, once I set up my user accounts, I have found several ways to copy them to other computers but will the dock preferences I set-up transfer as well? Or do I have to log-in on EVERY computer and do that? I'm asking because eventhough I limit access to several applications they still appear in the dock. Any suggestions about setting up the screen saver/energy mode for every computer in an easy fashion as well? Thanks!

Standard Versus Managed User Accounts
Simple question -
What is the difference between a Standard and a Managed user account? Essentially, I would like to set up an user account that has all the functionality but does not have the ability to install software or applications - similar to how one can set up a Limited user account in Windows. No worries. Figured this one on my own. Setting Parental Controls created the "Managed" user account. Also, setting the options within the Parental Controls section allowed for me to prevent installation of applications since the Application folder cannot be modified.

Should I use Managed Service Accounts or individual, Domain User accounts?
I'm setting up a new SP 2013, and I'm trying to be very granular as it relates to "Least Privilege".
I'm trying to figure out which accounts could be created as Managed Service Accounts (MSA's) and which ones truly need to be created as Domain User accounts in order to run either specific SQL and/or SharePoint services.
At face value, I *think* any service could be successfully run using an MSA and yet any installation of either SQL Server 2012 and/or SharePoint 2013 should be done using a Domain User account created for that specific purpose (i.e., SP_FARM, SP_ADMIN, SQL_ADMIN,
etc.). In fact, I *think* the installation would HAVE to be done with an actual Domain User account, because (unless I'm wrong), MSA's do not have a shell and therefore CAN'T log on...which is by design?
Here's a Microsoft TechNet article that lists many of the accounts I'm referring to:
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/14500.sharepoint-2013-service-accounts.aspx
Note that it says MOST of the accounts are Domain accounts, but I don't *think* all of these need to BE
Domain accounts - I think MOST of them could be created as MSA's and assigned to run the specific service without any problems whatsoever?
So again, my question is: which accounts could be created as Managed Service Accounts (MSA's) and which ones truly need to be created as Domain User accounts in order to run either specific SQL and/or SharePoint service or to even perform a
successful installation of the software?
EdNo, script 1 does not create Active Directory Managed Service Accounts (see here:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/askds/archive/2009/09/10/managed-service-accounts-understanding-implementing-best-practices-and-troubleshooting.aspx) These are not applicable to SharePoint and are not mentioned in any of those scripts, look at the PowerShell
commandlets, they are very different.
Script 1 creates active directory users. These are, as far as AD cares, just standard user objects. There is nothing at all special about them in AD.
At some point you would install SharePoint using those accounts, during that process they get resisted in SharePoint as SharePoint Managed Accounts.
Script 2 updates the settings on those managed accounts in bulk. -
Safari can't establish secure connection in parental controls managed user account
Hi,
Safari can't establish any secure connection in parental controls managed user account. Normal web sites open OK, but secure connections, like Gmail which requires https doesn't work. This is what I get instead:
Safari can’t open the page “https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?service=mail&passive=true&rm=false& continue=http%3A%2F%2Fmail.google.com%2Fmail%2F%3Fui%3Dhtml%26zy%3Dl&bsv=llya694 le36z&scc=1<mpl=default<mplcache=2&from=login” because Safari can’t establish a secure connection to the server “www.google.com”.
Any ideas how to overcome this?Do you have anti virus software installed, or Peer Guardian?

Management Repository - Custom procedure and email user account
Hi,
I am new to grid usage. Just I would like to make sure about the following:
1. Is it possible to create a custom procedure? Is it safe or any issues with that?
2. If possible, I would like to query the schedule related tables and send email to the network user(one of database repository user). In this procedure, can I send email to any user in the network or owner of the attached databases? or do I need to create or add user account to grid/management repository?
I appreciate your quick help. Thanks.Hi
Do you need a procedure to send mail to different users that depend of the target database?
When a alert warning or critical appear you send a mail to diferent user that depend of target?
If the answer is yes, you can create diferent users in your grid control and diferents notification rules for each user and assign to databases target
example
You have the SYSMAN user that have a rule
Database availability and critical states --> for all targets
Create two users in grid
admin_1
admin_2
Log to grid with admin_1
Create a notification rule like database availability and critical states
Each the targets specifit to this users
The same process for admin_2
