Manage connections to HTMLDB

HI all,
I'm new here
I have some questions about managing user connections to HTMLDB.
I hope you could help me :)
1. On my HTMLDB application = each page that a user open - opens a new session/connection in my db. how do i change it? only one connection for one user?
2. How do you suggest me to use auditing on the user actions on my application?

Cranchix - There is no way to change the architecture of HTML DB with respect to sessions/connections and there is no need to. If you have a problem you are trying to solve, please describe it and we can expand on these topics, which have been discussed at length in this forum. (Or first search here for keywords sessions, connections, architecture, etc.)

Manage Connections No green checkmark next to wifi??????

I just got my 8900 and am trying to connect it to my wifi at home. I have set up the wifi network, scanned and input my WEP key. My 8900 says it was successful and i get the light gray wifi and the name of the network but the wifi(on the home screen) never gets brighter and I never get the green checkmark on the manage connections page(only a white dash). Can any one help? I have been reading threads for the past two days and have not found a reference to this. I do not have a data plan and I am on At&t.
On a related note how would I know if I am using At&t's pay network for the internet or if my 8900 is using wifi?
Any help or links would be greatly appreciated.

1) Is it possible your WiFi router is blocking your access? You can be connected to your WiFi router, but not to the Internet!
2) Are you manually assigning your BB an IP Address, or letting your router assign it automatically?
a. If you're letting your router assign your BB an IP Address automatically, is your router correctly set up to do that?
b. If you're assigning your BB an IP Address manually, did you specify the default IP Address (usually 192.168.1.x where "x" is a number 1-255 which doesn't match any other device on your network), DNS Server, and Gateway (the latter two are usually identical, 192.168.1.1)?
If using a dynamically assigned IP Address, try setting it manually on both the BB and the router.
I always assign all the computers on my home network their own IP addresses. It helps cure all kinds of problems!

Cannot acquire a managed connection

Dear All,
I am very new to the SSIS package development so please point out my stupidity If I have done any. I am trying to ETL data from excel spreadsheet to SQL server using Excel data connections and OLE DB and ADO.Net data connection. I am using CDC task to monitor
any changes done in the source excel file. I am doing it in a way same package extract information from the spreadsheet and import in to Server 1 (CDC enabled) and compared it to the same table hosted on another server 2 which is a production server.
When I run this package on DTS it runs fine and I am able to generate Deployment Manifest file. When I try to run the same Manifest file I am getting below error
Error: Failed to Decrypt an encrypt XML node because the password was not specified or not correct. Package load will attempt to continue without the encrypted information.
Error: Cannot acquire a managed Connection from the run-time connection Manager
I have change the package encryption level from "EncryptSensitivewithUserkey" to "EncryptsensitivewithPassword" and have added password to the PackagePassword it the package property and saved this project.
when i add this package to the SQL agent job I am still getting below error message

Looks like you run the package in thee Agent for this purpose you should use the 'Rely on server storage for encryption' (ServerStorage) protection
In the "EncryptsensitivewithPassword" scenario you need to provide the actual password by editing the command line in there:
with adding switch /De <password> to it

Could not create a managed connection manager ; SSIS package from SSMS - Windows 7 64 bit

I created connection as Oracle provider for .Net.
In data flow, using the ado net source. select data access mode as SQL command.
When click preview. data is coming.
But when right click the dataflow task --> execute task.
data flow is failed with following error

Do you run it under 64bit?
if yes, go to Project menu, select project properties.
in the project properties window, go to Debugging tab, and set Run64BitRuntime as false. and try again.

Managing Connections in a desktop Application or Applet

Wondering how people usually manage connections in a fairly large GUI application (or Applet).
I'm used to using a Connection Pool with Servlets.
Is this worth using with an Application or is it ok to create a Connection at startup and use it throughout the whole execution?
Is it ok then to pass references to this Connection to other classes in the application?
Any tips, experiences, guidelines would be appreciated.

I'm assuming that you are using a J2EE Application Server that implements datasource pooling if you have the ability to use Pooled Connection with your servlet (if not, then you must have created your own connection pool?).
Basically, if you have an Applet, then there is no reason to change your current way of working...simply let a servlet in your container handle the database stuff, then return the results to the Applet.
For desktop standalone applications, things are a bit different. You will probably have to implement your own pool. Best practices...hmm...not an expert but I would have thought it best to open the connection, do the SQL stuff, then close it straight away, and in doing so release the connection back to the pool for another application to use (assuming you have a pool). If you are thinking about opening a connection for every application and holding these indefinitely, then you will eventually run into trouble. How many connections can your database handle???

Missing "Manage Connections" icon

Hi,
For some reason the "Manage Connections" icon is missing from my BB menu. I did a "Show All", but it still isn't showing anywhere. The only way for me to get into this app is to assign the right side button to the "Manage Connections" app via the "Screen/Keyboard" options item.
Any idea how to get this icon back on my menu?

If you still don't see it, look at Options > Advanced > Applications. Do you see it listed there?

Manage connections disabled

Hi,
We are in SAP BOBJ 4.0 sp04 patch 4.9 and crystal reports for enterprise 4.0 client installed in win 7.
While opening an existing CRE report not able to change the manage connections/ select any connections, please see the attached image.
1) Please advice, If its access rights issue or needs to remap obects and save report it in our name.
2) Cannot even open a locally saved CRE report, Is something missing while saving local copy ?

I think it an issue with the License keys. Check out what all features does your License Key support.
I had a problem where I wasnt able to see all types of connections, only few of the connections (QaaWS & Live Office etc) were visible and it was a License issue.

SSIS 2012 OData - Cannot acquire a managed connection

I have an SSIS project in SQL Server 2012 deployed via VS 2012 SSDT-BI.
If I run this from my local SQL Server it works correctly, however if I push it to another server and run it I always get a
Cannot acquire a managed connection from the run-time connection manager.
The connection looks like this..
Document Url=http://myodata;Include Atom Elements=Auto;Include Expanded Entities=False;Integrated Security=SSPI;Persist Security Info=False;Time Out=600;Schema Sample Size=25;Retry Count=5;Retry Sleep=100;Keep Alive=True;Max Received Message Size=4398046511104

Can you try passing "User ID" and "Password" instead of "Integrated Security=SSPI"?
Example,

Xcelsius 2008 keeps crashing when invoking "Manage Connections" button.

Hi,
I am trying to evaluate Xcelsius 2008 but it keeps crashing. I hope it is not a problem with the software, but rather with my computer (although I have tried it Windows XP and Windows Vista - both fail).
I installed Xcelsius 2008 (1.1.0.3) on Windows Vista yesterday and it was working great. I was able to make it connect to a web service that I developed and display the data.
This morning I am having frustaring problems... Everytime I try to click on the "Manage connections" button, Xcelsius just crashes. It can be an empty model and it will crash. I put some components and then click on the button and it crashes.
I went to the Windows event log to see if I could find anything usefull and this is what I have found:
Faulting application Xcelsius.exe, version 1.1.0.3, time stamp 0x487c64e0, faulting module MFC80U.DLL, version 8.0.50727.1833, time stamp 0x482bc450, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0004c655, process id 0x160c, application start time 0x01c9038b7fe324cb.

I would like to think the problem is with the machine as well, but it has ocurred on Windows XP and Windows Vista.
My Windows Vista is a brand new computer, with nothing but the OS (and whatever Toshiba has put in it), Office and Xcelsius.
Right now I am building a Virtual PC machine with only Windows 2K3 and Office 2K3 installed on it. I will download all the patches and all the updates from Microsoft for it, but nothing else. I will then install Xcelsius and see if the problem persists.
I have run Xcelsius logged as the admin and as a user and the problem happens regardles.
Do you think it could be with the free trial version of the software? What is the version of the MFC80U.DLL you use? My version is 8.0.50727.1833
I have been impressed with what the software can do, but I am not too impressed with the way the software works.

Memory Manager - Connection Memory keeps increasing

I have a SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 STD with SQL and SSAS
running on 16 GB memory and Win 2008 R2 64 BIT, at the beginning, the Memory
Manager -> Database Memory takes most of the SQL used memory, but the Memory
Manager -> Connection Memory counter keeps increasing until it consumes
almost all memory after about a week. I have to restart SQL server to release
the memory used by Connection Memory.
Is there a way to release the
Connection Memory? Or how to know which connections are using all the
memory?

You can use sys.dm_exec_sessions view to check the connection and current requests of the program and login name.

HANA Studio Import- Manage connection error.

Hi
In HANA studio, while import, Manage connection is giving error.
In BO Dataservice4.0, i have created Data store and gave ERP connection details to connect ERP system.I am able to import tables from ERP in Datastore.
Also I gave input to Server address(DS IP) and Repository name(Local repository) in Configure import server at Studio.
Import click gives below error in Manage connections
Error while opening the connection DS_XXX. Use "Manage Connections" to check the connection details.
Any settings has to be done? pls advice.

We have solved the problem.
We have completed the following steps of the master guide of HANA:
Configuring Data Services for Metadata Import:
1. Setting the Passphrase
1.1. Log into the Central Management Console of SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise (BOE).
1.2. Choose Manage > Applications
1.3. Choose Data Services Application.
1.4. Choose Settings.
1.5. Enter the Encryption Passphrase.
1.6. Choose Save.
Note: The passphrase you set here should be the same as the one you set in the SAP In_Memory Computing
studio.
Postrequisite: Restart the TOMCAT and BOE services.

Manage Connections Bluetooth (Microsoft) but Wid...

I am trying to get PC Suite to connect to my 6021 using Bluetooth. Widcomm BT Manager connects to phone OK but when I launch PCS and click 'Manage connections', 'Connections Available' shows Bluetooth (Microsoft). I have the Widcomm BT stack 5.0.1 installed. If I click configure > Next, I get: 'Cannot use the connection type. Check that all the needed hardware, software and drivers are available.'
Although I have SP2 I can see no way installing the SP2 BT driver.
Any help would be mopst appreciated, ta.
What version of Windows is being used: XP
What Service Pack is installed: SP2
What version of PC Suite is installed: 6.80.21
Connection method, is: Bluetooth.

BT Home Hub Manage Connections and Bandwidth.

Hello, I was wondering if it was possible to manage connections inside BT Home Hub. I am the owner of the hub and can log in to the advanced settings, I see I can turn the wireless off, is there a way to turn the wireless off for specific devices, but keep my laptop wireless on.
What about turning the internet off for specific wired devices, but keeping my computer on.
Third and final question, is there a way I can manage bandwidth useage?
So I can say to these devices, use 10% of bandwidth, and allow the rest to go to my computer.

The simple answer to both your questions one and three is not with the HomeHub - and you might have difficulty finding a router designed for home use that will do both.

Unable to connect to htmldb

I get a page not found error when I try to connect to htmldb. First, I cannot find any trace of a folder or file called htmldb after I installed 10g. Second, I cannot find the apache error logs which used to be in the apache directory in a logs folder. How can I tell if it was installed?

Did you install HTML DB from the Companion CD after you installed Database 10g? If you have a CD pack, it should be there, if you download the database installed, you need to separately download the companion CD.

"Radio Off" and cannot be turned on via "Manage Connections"

Hey all, hoping someone has seen this before on the Curve. I ran low on power and the radio shut off, but now no matter what I do that has previously worked, (Make a call/go into manage connections-"Turn on all connections") the radio won't turn on.
Any ideas or tips before I commit BlackBerrycide?

That happened to me before too when the battery ran real low and I wasn't able to turn it on until the battery was over 25%. Have you charged the phone?
