Manage contacts on pc

I want to manage my contacts on my pc, not on the Internet.  I do not have outlook on my pc.  I can not find software to use on the pc to manage my contacts that will also sync with my iPhone 4s. Previously I used my palm desktop application, which is no longer a viable option.  Help. I downloaded iCloud, but I don't feel hosting my friends addresses on the Internet is responsible.

Before syncing contacts with an empty Windows Contacts address book app, enter one contact in the Windows Contacts address book. Make this contact up if needed, which can be deleted later. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data, which you want to select. Syncing contacts with Windows Contacts is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
As a Windows user, I would be more concerned about you having my contact info available on your computer than having it available online with iCloud. The bulk of spam originates from Windows computers being taking over remotely by spammers with the email being sent without the user's knowledge - along with the spammer using an email address pulled from the computer's address book to appear as the sending email address for the spam.

I have just installed PC Suite 6.84. However if I click on the File Manager, Contacts or Messages icons in PC Suite instead of the appropriate application opening up I get Windows Explorer opening up giving me a view of the items on my Desktop. I have UnInstalled PC Suite and ReInstalled it, but I still have the same problem. Connecting with Nokia 6230i. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on ? Any advice would be appreciated. • Have LG Extravert with Backup Assistant but can't access BA online to manage contacts

I have backed up my contacts on the ol' phone, hoping to print them and/or import into my contacts on the Mac (and ultimately sinc the new iPhone to the Mac).  Can not for the life of me find the Manage Contacts online from which to print/import.  Keep getting into a cyclical loop opening new windows and trying to get me to sign up for Verizon Cloud, something I don't need and certainly not something that is getting me to the contacts I need to see.  Trying to call in for help and after long waits on hold, getting dropped, and getting texts that ask me to call a number....and that number wants to sell me Verizon equipment.  Sooo irritating!  Where is the Backup Assistant list of contacts -- that's all I need and it seems to be allusive for me and others looking for the same thing.

  • Desktop Manager - contacts sync from Entourage but...

Desktop Manager - contacts sync from Entourage but when I add a new contact, it won't sync the other way.  I have all teh Sync options set in Entourage as per the instructions.
    what am I doing wrong?

I have the same problem with getting new calendar appointments from my 8530 Curve into Entourage (on Mac OS x v. 10.6.3). They go into iCal. I have Entourage sync preferences set to sync with iCal, and I have Desktop Manager advanced sync options set for events created on the device to go to Entourage - but they don't. I have "merge data" and two-way syncing set.   It works fine syncing from Entourage to my BB.
How can I get data added on my BB to go directly into Entourage?
    Thanks.

  • Can't get into Manage Contacts

When I click Manage Contacts in the Messaging web portal interface, it says:
You are seeing this page for one of the following reasons:
    1) The Sync & Connect feature does not appear on your account. To add this feature click on Home above, then click on the Change Features link.
    2) The Sync & Connect feature has recently been added to your account and the request is in process or pending completion. Please sign in again later.
I have added all needed features to my account and it won't let me past this point. Please help.

Thanks for helping. I have never tried using it in the past so I'm not sure that it has ever worked. Verizon Messages+ works fine on my phone. And Verizon Cloud works fine on my phone. I would like to be able to import my contacts into Verizon's system so the web messaging will know my contacts (which are either gmail or exchange contacts and thus do not get synced with Verizon Cloud.

  • Managing contacts for multiple email accounts

I am (as of yesterday) a convert from a Blackberry to the iPhone 4s (IOS 5.0.1) (32GB)
I have had iTune (10.5) on my computer for a long time, but strictl to manage an iPod for email accounts - no contacts or calendars involved. And I have never played with iCloud before.
When I purchased my iPhone at BestBuy, they copied my BB contacts to my iPhone local contacts.
FWIW, on my BB, I used BB Desktop Manager to synchronize selected Outlook contacts to my BB.
Outlook, in turn, was used to talk to Exchange on my corporate network.
What I would like to do is a follows:
    a)     Use Exchange, Gmail and Yahoo email all come to my iPhone.  This is already being done.
    b)     Using iTunes (or whatever) sychronize selected Outlook contacts to my iPhone
I am assuming this is different than using the iPhone to synchronize Exchange contacts via Push.  And I don't want to sync all 5K Exchange contacts with my iPhone, just the ~500 selected contacts in Outlook.  All togethter there are about 1000 contacts in Outlook, 500 of which were marked with a sync category.
    c)     Bonus points if I could take my Gmail and Yahoo contacts (all personal and mostly not in Outlook and certainly not in Exchange) and get them synched to my iPhone as well.
I noted that there was an option to synch Yahoo with the phone and keep (at the risk of duplicates) local contacts.  I did not see such an option for Gmail.  What I did see was that there was an option to call Gmail an Exchange Account, and then synch contacts; but only if I really didn't have a Microsoft Exchange account defined, which I do.
How, if at all would iCloud fit into this picture
    Dave

I recently saw news of an app to enable this, I think. The workflow was something like you open up the app, select a signature, then hit a button and it takes you to Mail and pre-pastes the signature into a new mail message. So I don't think it would work for replies.
I'm afraid I have no idea where I saw it discussed. Search the App Store?

  • Blackberry Desktop Manager contacts

Has RIM considered a Contacts module integrated into the Deskttop Manager as a standalone from outlook? I assume most users sync with Outlook. In the past Outlook has had its issues like any other software. It would be nice to have a module inserted into the BB manager.

Personally, I don't see the need for RIM to spend time on PIM applications for the PC desktop, when there are others that work so well.
Why reinvent the wheel, yet again, with yet another desktop application.
Outlook is not your only choice... Outlook Express, Google Contacts, Yahoo PIM, Lotus, Act, and others.

  • Managing contact groups in E71 and N97 mini

It seems that the E71 does not support groups like older models used to: apparently groups are listed alongside contacts, and it is no longer possible to see and search groups directly. I'd like to see my groups straight away (e.g. clients, business partners, friends, etc), open and search them, rather than finding them among the contacts. Actually, this setup misses the whole point of classifying contacts into groups!  What on Earth was Nokia thinking?
Is there any way around this? A firmware update or a third-party app?
Also, how are contact groups managed in the N97 mini? Is it the same, or does that mobile finally allow you to see and search groups directly?

    chanchan05 wrote:
I am not sure on the e71 how to view groups separately, but on the mini, there are two tabs on top (or three if you ovi contacts), one for contacts, one for ovi contacts, on for groups. Just tap on the tabs.
Brilliant, thanks a lot! So Nokia finally fixed this!
Unfortunately user manuals are always more useless, and it seems the only way to understand these details is to ask other users...
Have you checked if groups can be synchronized between the phone and Ovi? With older versions of Ovi it wasn't possible.
Can you manage, sync and backup groups from the PC using Nokia PC Suite?
What's the difference between contacts and Ovi contacts? I thought the whole point of Ovi was to sync data between the website and the mobile. Can you instead keep two different directories of contacts and access them separately?
I wonder if 'groups' is just another field in the contact database, which gets saved when you export contacts to a csv file with Nokia PC Suite, or if groups are stored in some other ways.

  • Good PIM personal information manager for managing contacts?

As a user of cellphones since the days of the Treo and organizers back in the days of Palm Pilot, I remember some of the better PIMs that were available. The built-in PIM to iTunes is definitely not on the level of the Blackberry PIM or the old Palm Desktop.
What is a good PIM that will let me manage iOS and non-iOS contacts?
I have spotty service when I'm overseas sometime, so iCloud is not going to do it. Something that can be installed on a PC and MAC (not just MAC) would be great.

  • Can't specifically manage contacts. Apps get erased on desync.

I just want to export and synchronize my contacts from my iPhone. Why does iTunes insist on importing the apps on my iPhone to my iTunes? I want to keep the listings separate. Even if I check off "Sync Apps", it prompts to me that all of my apps on my iPhone will be deleted. What if I don't want iTunes to know what apps I have? How can I stop it from retrieving my app information?
How can I manage my iPhone's info without synchronizing all other aspects?

  • How to manage contacts in itunes?

I have synchronized my new iPhone 6 and ended up with hundred of unwanted contacts.  All email addresses and phone numbers I ever contacted ended up as contacts.  The staff in the Apple Shop told me that "you just need to manage your contacts in iTunes to delete multiple contacts at a time".  Fine, but how?  I cannot even find my contacts in iTunes.

Synchronized to what (in terms of contacts and with what type of computer)?

  • Managing Contacts - Help!

I am using PC suite 6.8.
I've got an old Nokia 6100 and I'm using the CA-42 (if that's the correct code; it's a serial - usb adapter). I'm on a laptop running WinXP SP2.
I can connect to my phone although I confess it was't as intuitive as I expected!
What I want to know, and cannot find the answers for, is how to get my contact telephone numbers off my phone and into the contacts section of PC Suite?
I have another question to ask about synching with Outlook, but it will have to wait till I clear up how to get my contacts to appear on my pc.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    sister-bliss is right (as always.
One additional comment, with PC Sync you can syncronise the phone data to Outlook, Windows Address Book (Express) or Lotus Notes (even some Lotus Organiser version) so there is a need to have some counter part application in you PC where you can manage the content that you syncronised from phone.
However, the contacts can be edited in Nokia Phone Browser also, once you have updated the contacts to PC side, you can double click a contact and it opens in edit window.
You can also add new contacts to phone by using the left hand side button in Nokia Phone Browser picture bar (or what ever you call that area between folder tree view and the right hand side content area). Not very smooth, but doable

If you subscribe to iCloud, turn it on in the settings of all of your devices, Mac and iOS (Sorry, I don't know PCs.) Now any changes that you make to the Contacts on one device should eventually perpetuate to all of the other devices synced to this one iCloud account.
    You can access these contacts through;
Mac = Contacts (Mt Lion) Address Book (Lion and previous OS X)
    iOS = Contacts
    iCloud.com = Contacts
