Manage DPM servers, running DPM jobs, etc from SCOM 2012 SP1

Hi,
Little background about our systems.
We have a dedicated SCOM 2012.
We have 22 DPM servers, DPM 2010 and DPM 2012 (we are upgrading to 2012 SP1, we have customers that still using Windows 2003 servers) to be managed by SCOM
We have a few DPM servers that are not located on the same domain as the SCOM server (untrusted domain).
Some problem we have
1. When we try to manage the DPM servers from the SCOM server.
From SCOM 2012 server I can “Manage DPM server” that are located in our domain but I cannot manage DPM servers located on untrusted domains (customer’s domains). I receive the below error message
"Unable to connect to <untrusted domain DPM SERVER> ID: 948
Verify that the DPM service is running on this computer"
I guess it’s because the account that I’m using to run SCOM server located in our domain and does not have the permission to open the DPM console on the untrusted domain. So I wonder if it is possible to use “RUN AS profiles/accounts”
to solve this issue, and how?
2. I have installed SCOM 2012 Operations Manager Console on my computer and then installed DPM Central Console.
When I select one dpm server (from my computer), that is on our domain, and then click “Manage DPM server” I got this error message
"Unable to connect to <our domain DPM SERVER> ID: 33333
1. Verify that the DPM service is running on this computer (YES)
2. Verify that the current user has been added to at least one of the roles in Operations Manager. (YES)
3. Open Operations Manage console and then try launching the DPM Console (THAT IS WHAT I AM TRYING TO DO)
4. If you have re-imported the management pack recently, the role configuration may be corrupt. Open the DPM-specific roles and check if the roles have task assigned to them. If not, delete the roles and recreate the...."
When I click on “Get more information” I get this error message.
"You don´t have access permission to connect to the System Center Data Access service on <SCOM SERVER>. Please check if it is a permission issue".....
Do you know why I cannot connect to any DPM server on our own domain?
Why do I get access permission error on my computer but not on the SCOM server (using the same account)?
What should we do to be able to connect to DPM servers that are on untrusted domain?
3. Is it possible to see Last Recovery Point date/time in SCOM alerts?
For me it is the first thing I look at. If it has failed 10 min ago it is not critical.
But if it is a date and time more than 1 day old, then it is critical.
I hope someone can help us with this

Hi,
To manager DPM, I think we may need to add the account to local admin group of the DPM server.
In addition, to connect to DPM the user needs permissions to DPM/SQL Server DPMDB.
For your DCs, have your enabled agent proxy option? If not, please enable that option for all DCs.
To monitor DPM with SCOM, please also go through the below links:

  • Problem upgrading from SCOM 2012 SP1 to R2 (near impossible to uninstall SCOM agent from Management Server)

I'm trying to upgrade our SCOM 2012 SP1 environment to R2, but I have a heck of a problem getting there.
We currently have an test installation with SCOM 2012 SP1 with Management Server and Console on a single 2012 Standard server. The database are located on a remote server. The R2 setup stopped mid way through the setup, because the SCOM 2012 SP1 agent is
installed. And I could NOT remove it my any normal means. I've tried "misexec.exe /x productcode", the setup, powershell uninstall and so on. Nothing works, because the management server installation is blocking the uninstall. The uninstall says
I have to remove the management installation first. And that's not gonna happen.
I had to follow this guide to finally getting through the setup: http://www.opsman.co.za/forcibly-removing-a-scom-agent-that-cannot-be-uninstalled-by-normal-means/
In addition to searching for the agent msi install key in registry, and deleting everything. After I did this, the setup is working, and the SCOM management server, console and DB are up to date. However, the Microsoft Monitoring Agent are STILL there in
Control Panel. And this can NOT be the most healthy way of getting through the setup.
I'm about to upgrade to R2 in our production environment with 3 management servers, and I would hate to go through this sketchy process there as well. Just for the record, I have no idea why the agents are installed on our management servers.
Any of you have tips as to how I can get rid of the agents more gracefully?

    Hi
    Thanks for the replay guys!
None of those links touch my problem I'm afraid. I have followed the Upgrade guides you pointed to, step by step. But the setup does not Complete. There's problems during the actual software Upgrade of the management servers (3'rd step in the Upgrade page).
I've dived into the Application logs and installation logs, and as far as I can tell, it stops because it has trouble upgrading while the server has the 2012 SP1 Agent installed. I do not remember the actual error text right now, but I can get it in a few
    days.
Anyhow, the setup DID move on once I removed most of the registry information of the agent installation. So. that leaves me to the conclusion that the agent IS in fact stopping the setup. Either the agent are malfunctioning, or the setup do not expect the
agent to be present on the management servers. I suspect the latter to be the the most plausible. At least until Yan Li told me this was normal.
So, I'm not sure what to think. I'm pretty much forced to remove this agents, as this is the only thing allowing me to continue the setup. At least untill I'm told otherwise. But I hate to do it this way. It's so dirty. The registry is pretty much cleaned,
but there's still Application files present, and the agent is still in the Control panel and can be started. It's not something I would like to do in our prodution environment.

  • SCOM 2012/SP1/R2 - What Is the Best Management Pack for HP Storage (P2000)

    Hi all!
What would be the best recommended Management Pack for HP Storage (P2000) for the SCOM 2012/SP1/R2? Free products are privileged, of course, but we would also consider the paid ones.
Thank you very much for your time and attention!
    Best regards!

    Hi,
Recently I created Custom Management pack for MSA P2000 Storage. Its primary purpose is to monitor performance.

  • Missing Event Viewer VM Manager Log after ugrade from SCVMM 2012 SP1 to R2

We recently upgraded from SCVMM 2012 SP1 to SCVMM 2012 R2. After the upgrade, I noticed that the VM Manager log, in the Event Viewer, is missing. I've tried to peruse all of the logs to see if it has been moved/renamed, with no luck. I highly doubt an important
log would be removed without a replacement being available, so I'm curious if it was something that had to be enabled (isn't turned on by default).
I had scripts which relied on the log for VM status changes, Event ID 821 (shut down/running/etc), to keep a last-used database for all of the VMs on our cloud.
Has anyone run in to this problem, or have any idea how I can get get the information that was available in the VM Manager log?
    Thank you.

I have a similar problem when migrating VMs from Windows 2008 R2 (Non Clustered) Hyper-V to Windows 2012 Hyper Cluster. I had previously migrated about 100 VMs like this with no problem. It appears since upgrading from VMM SP1 Rollup 4 to Rollup 5 this problem
is happening. All Agents are up to date.
I can migrate VMs in the cluster no problem.
I removed the Windows 2008 R2 Hyper-V host and added it back which allowed the job to at least start but when it gets to the final steps of importing the VM it fails with the same error and references the VMM server.
Others suggest this is a VMM Certificate problem and you can remove the Cluster node and add it back again but I can't do that in a production Cluster with hundreds of VMs. That is not an acceptable solution.
    How can we fix this?

  • SCOM 2012 SP1 UR4 management servers grey state

    Hi,
My SCOM environment is made up of the below :-
    SCOM 2012 SP1 UR4.
3 SCOM Management Servers all on Windows 2008 R2 SP1.
Shared SQL 2008 cluster with 2 Windows nodes also on same OS.
Just recently all our SCOM management servers have been flipping in and out from grey to green state.  Gateways/agents all look ok as showing green.  Alerting from agents appears normal as can see lots of them in console.
Have flushed the health state cache folder on all 3 SCOM MS's and still the same issue.
Appreciate any help on this one.

    For Event id 20026 -
    1. Does your Operationsmanager database have enough space ? Check that first.
What is you DB size ?
How much is the free space left ?
    2. Was there any resent change in the SCOM Action accoutn password ? Or has the password expired. Try re entering the SCOM Action password by re directing your self to Administration tab --> Run as Config -- > Accounts --> SCOM Action account.
The description would be - This is the user account under which all rules run by default on the agent.
Right click and go to properties and re enter the account name and password there and check.

  • SCOM 2012 SP1 Update Rollup 5 - DB and DW SQL script and the Management Packs

    Hi,
    I am applying SCOM 2012 SP1 update rollup 5 from KB article : 2904680.
Step#  4 and 5 from the "Installation Information" sections says to run the SQL queries(UR_Datawarehouse.sql and Update_rollup_mom_db.sql) located at "%SystemDrive%\Program Files\System Center 2012 SP1\Operations
    Manager\Server \SQL Script for Update Rollups\."
But I do not have "System Center 2012 SP1\Operations Manager\Server \SQL Script for Update Rollups\." folder location on  my SCOM Management Servers. Similarly I do not have the MPs given in Step #6.
Can someone please let me know from where else can I get these SQL scripts and the MPs. What if I don't run these SQL scripts. Is that OK?

You will find it on below path%SystemDrive%\Program Files\System Center 2012\Operations Manager\Server \SQL Script for Update Rollups\.
inside system center 2012 folder> search to Server folder and inside it you will find SQL Script

  • Upgrade to R2 from SCOM 2012 SP 1 UR 4 - Final configuration failed to install

I was upgrading our test SCOM 2012 SP1 UR 4 sever to R2 and ran into the following issue:

The log states “Access to the path 'EULA_EN_EVAL.RTF' is denied.”  I was able to find this file in D:\Program Files\System Center 2012\Operations Manager\SetupTemp\EN, but when viewing its contents I see it
was from the SP 1 upgrade as it starts off with “MICROSOFT EVALUATION SOFTWARE LICENSE TERMS MICROSOFT SYSTEM CENTER 2012 STANDARD SERVICE PACK 1.”  Based on everything else referenced in the log file previously, it seems like it was trying to locate
this file in D:\Program Files\System Center 2012\Operations Manager\Setup.  Also, I applied the product key after installing SP1 previously, so it was not running with an evaluation license.
Running Get-SCOMManagementGroup | ft skuforlicense, version, timeofexpiration –a
    gives me:
    SkuForLicense Version     TimeOfExpiration
           Retail 7.1.10226.0 12/31/9999 11:59:59 PM
The version (7.1.10226.0) is that of SCOM 2012 R2 (as I noted before, there was no rollback.)  Everything seems to be functioning fine (Console, Web Console, Reporting Services.)
Is there a way to get it to re-run only the Final Configuration steps (which will probably fail again as the EULA file does not exist where it expects it)?  I am not sure if there were supposed to be any further
configuration steps that did not get completed, so i dont know how stable SCOM is now.  Should I re-run the R2 installer?  Or is it OK as is?  The only info online about a SCOM Install where the final configuration failed to install dealt with
an error upgrading the SCOM Console, which is not relevant to my situation.  This is my test SCOM environment, running on a VM.  I could revert to the pre-upgrade snapshot and see if another upgrade attempt completes successfully, but if that does
work I am concerned that something like this may happen in my prod environment, which is not running on a VM, so has no ability to revert to a snapshot.

  • Three agent UR versions gets installed from gateway - SCOM 2012 SP1 UR4

    Hi,
We have a SCOM 2012 SP1 UR4 installation with several gateways that servers connect to and get installation from.
We noticed that when the agent get installed on a client server it gets first the agent itself, then UR1, UR2 and last UR4.
From the XML-section in the task that has installed the agent one can read the following:
    SoftwareUpdateInstalled KB2784734-amd64-Agent.msp;KB2826664-amd64-Agent.msp;KB2880799-amd64-Agent.msp; SoftwareUpdateInstalled
Below is from the application log of a newly installed server that got the agent installed.
The question I have is if this is correct? Why are all three UR installed?
Shouldn't it be enough with the latest version of UR? Are they not cumulative?
Can I simply delete the older versions in the agent directory of the Gateway?

    Hi,
This should be normal, as we can see in the below two articles. When applying Update Rollup 2, UR1 is listed there, and when applying Update Rollup 3, UR1 and UR2 is listed there also.

Any solution for this alert, how to rectify it, but OWA is running perfect for all users.

    Hi,
    Sorry for the late reply.
Do we have Exchange 2010 coexistence?
If it is the case, I know the following known issue:
    Release Notes for Exchange 2013
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj150489%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx
Please note the "Exchange 2010 coexistence" session.
If it is not related to our problem, please check the IIS log.
If there is any detailed error code, like 401.1, 401.2, please let me know.
    Hope it is helpful
    Thanks

  • SCOM 2012 SP1 - PowerShell Script failed to run - 3 alerts appear after every reboot of the SCOM Server

Brand new SCOM 2012 SP1 install with Update Rollup 1 applied
Single server, local SQL install, SQL Server 2012 SP1
Hyper-V VM running on Server 2012.  VM has 8GB Ram, single vCPU
Going through initial management pack importing and configuration, at this point I have the Windows Server 2012 and SQL 2012 MP's installed.
    See screenshot
    http://i.imgur.com/l0Molh1.png
I am getting the following alerts in my SCOM console and cannot find a resolution to fix the issue.  I don't want to set an override, as an override will prevent the PowerShell alert in other instances, where I might want to receive an alert.
Looking at the alert description, it states "The Data Access service is either not running or not yet initialized"
The SCOM Console launches and responds fine, and I get no other errors.  I check the Data Access service and it is online.  I have left the system alone for a couple of hours and no other errors.  I then closed those alerts and restarted the
server, and they came right back in, so I know that this is something that is happening at either server startup of during the start of the SCOM services.
Is it possible that SCOM is trying to execute these scripts and the Data Access service has not come online yet?
Has anyone else come across this before?

Please try the method in the following thread:
Note: As there is operations related to Registry, please perform a backup before doing this.

  • Upgrade from SCOM 2012 R2 directly to UR4

Is it possible to Upgrade from SCOM 2012 R2 RTM to Update rollup 4 ?
I alreday upgraded but I could not find new dashboard and widgets ?

It's a cumulative upgrade so you don't need to install all of the release sequential. Latest is enough.
Did you also import the management packs as mentioned in the guide?
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2992020/en-us
    Import the following management packs:
Microsoft.SystemCenter.TFSWISynchronization.mpb, which has the following dependency:
Microsoft.SystemCenter.AlertAttachment.mpb, which should be installed from the System Center Operations Manager 2012 R2 media.
    Microsoft.SystemCenter.Visualization.Library.mpb
    Microsoft.SystemCenter.Visualization.Component.Library.mpb
    Microsoft.SystemCenter.Advisor.mpb
    Microsoft.SystemCenter.Advisor.Internal.mpb
    Microsoft.SystemCenter.2007.mp
Also don't forget to update the console!

  • How SCOM Agent will get degraded which is installed on the monitored server while reverting Back from CU6 to CU3 of SCOM 2012 SP1?

    Hi,
I have SCOM 2012 SP1 (CU3) inatalled on base server 2012 Standard which is a VM.
Now I am planning to Go for CU6 and thinking to take snapshot of complete  SCOM server instead of taking Data Base Backup. Which should I prefer?
If i am going for the Snapshot for complete SCOM server and run the CU6 complete setup. And some thing went wrong and not able to fix the issue.
And I need to reverted back to CU3 using Snspshot.
Now, how can I revert the Agent Version to CU3 level which is already upgraded to CU6?
    Thanks
    Amit Raj

    Hi,
all agents with CU6 will be work fine with SCOM CU6.
But if you decide back to the CU3 you need to backup your OPsDB and DWH (if CU6 contains sql scripts).
In regard agents you can use repair from OPsMGR console.

  • SCOM 2012 SP1 - Trying to import Unix / Linux Management packs - need help

Hello all, I am using SCOM 2012 SP1.   I am trying to install the following management packs for Unix/Linux:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29696
When I try to do so, it says that I'm missing some dependent management packs.  Two main ones it looks like:
    Microsoft.SystemCenter.WSManagement.Library - Version 7.1.10000.0
    Microsoft.SystemCenter.OperationsManager.Library - Version 7.1.10000.0
However, I cannot figure out where to get these two other management packs from.  I've been googling for an hour now and I'm starting to go in loops.  Can anyone give me any suggestions on how to get this updated version of these two management
    packs listed above please?

For Microsoft.SystemCenter.WSManagement.Library , you can check below link
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29266
For Microsoft.SystemCenter.OperationsManager.Library, it's already deployed with SCOM installation
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh212701.aspx

That link for WS Management looks like its the "Microsoft.SystemCenter.OutofBand.SMASH.Library" management pack.  It does not appear to be "Microsoft.SystemCenter.WSManagement.Library"
Also, about the "Microsoft.SystemCenter.OperationsManager.Library" one, I do have a version of that in my SCOM already.  It appears to be version 7.0.9538.0 though.  Apparently theres a version 7.1.10000.0 out there somewhere, based on what I saw
in the messages above when attempting to import the Unix/Linux MPs.   I don't know how to update this management pack.  I tried searching the catalog for "Microsoft System Center Operations Manager Library" but that didn't find any results.
So I still do not have either of the versions I need of either management packs.

  • Is there way to Monitor Live camera from SCOM 2012 R2

Is there way to Monitor Live camera from SCOM 2012 R2 ?
    Thanks
    Raja R
    Raja R

Depends what it is that you want to monitor?
If it's an IP camera that supports SNMP, you can monitor multiple components, depending on the manufacturer (e.g. # images captures, uptime in hours, ...).
If it doesn't support SNMP, you can monitor it through ICMP (ping). Then it's only possible to monitor the state of the device (up/down) depending on wether scom receives a ping reply or not.
If it's a coaxial camera or something else, not connected to a network, it's not possible to monitor the camera itself. Might be possible to monitor the computer/DVR that records the images.
