Manage iPhoto pix from iPad?

Hi all. We just got an iPad 64GB. We have about 30GB of photos on our Mac with iPhoto '08.
Our goal is to be able to download/sync the photos from iPhoto onto the iPad and manage them on the iPad so we don't have to sit in front of the Mac...we can just sit on the couch. When I say "manage", I mean very simple things like delete a photo or rename an Event or copy/move pix from 1 Event to another. No editing. It would be cool if we could upload the Events to Shutterfly from the iPad instead of the Mac after we manage it. So if I delete a few pix off the iPad, they will get deleted on on iPhoto later when I connect/sync with my Mac. We will never hook up a camera to the iPad so we don't have to worry about iPhoto stuff vs. iPad native.
Ideas? I've looked around the Apple website and there is no mention of this kind of feature. I also do not believe there is an iLife for iPad yet...
Thanks so much in advance!
-Eric

Download "Photo Sort" from Apps Store ($1.99 I believe). I just did and am still trying it out but it seems to have most if not all of what you want to do.

Disable Photo Stream in the System/iCloud preference pane
and in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane.
Reboot and reenable both respectively. That should jump start Photo Stream.

  • IPhoto access from iPads

OK, maybe a simple question, maybe not, but I've been unable to find a clear answer.
The queation is easy:  is there a way that I can access my iPhoto library from iPads/iPhones on the same network (MAC is wired).  I'm not looking to edit or store photos, just to view thm and occasionally move some to the iDevices camera roll or local library for sharing, emailing, etc.
I am looking for a local networked solution and not interested in moving all of the photos onto iCloud.
    thanks, B

You cannot access your entire photo library via a "networked" solution. The only way to have access to a single library from all devices is to store that library in a single accessible place - i.e., a cloud of some sort.
You do have a way for all of your Camera Roll photos from all of your devices shared with all of your other devices via Photo Stream. You can also share selected photos between all devices using a Shared Photo Stream sent to your own email address.
I presume you are already familiar with Photo Stream and Shared Photo Streams?
    Cheers,

  • Deleting iphoto photos from iPad

When backing up my ipad to my macbook before updating to IOS 7 somehow I managed to sync all the photos from my mac which were in Iphoto to my ipad - all 10 GB of photos. Now I don't have enough space to update to IOS7 or indeed download any more apps.
How do I undo this operation? I tried resyncing my ipad to the mac book but I'm not getting any option to do with photos. If I delete the photos individually from the ipad will they still be on iphotos when  I sync again to the macbook?
All suggestions welcome and thank you in advance.

You haven't told us anything about your iPad's environment:  Which model?  Whici iOS version?
But perhaps the most important question is how much free space you have?  Look at Settings > General > Usage and note the available space.  It needs to be absolutely no less than 10% of the iPad's total storage space.
If space is tight, you might try deleting other things first.
Whether space is tight or not, you might try deleting fewer photos at a time.  The feeling I get is you're trying to do one massive delete.  Try some smaller ones first.

  • Managing iPhoto events on iPad

Is there any way to merge/split iPhoto events on iPad?

As far as I know, you cannot do that on the iPad, only in iPhoto on your Mac. As a work-around, create a new album with the photos from both events to merge, or two new albums with differents sets of photos to split.

  • Streaming Iphoto slideshow from IPad II to Apple TV 2

    Hello all,
my englsh is not very well, but I'm try to explain  my problem.
I installed the app  IPhoto on my IPad II. It works very well, In IPhoto I activate tv-synchronisation to get my IPad screen via apple tv 2 on my tv, but no screnn or picture is seen. In a diashow I heared the music. I also does'nt see the airplay button or sign. Thats all. So I need a liitle bit of help or is it my configuration.
By the way: in other apps on my Ipad like photo, music, video and so on airplay works very good. It`s the same netowrk an so on.
    Thanks
    appler00

Many apps don't natively support that audio out to the apple tv, (spotify, pandora, ect) Normally the work around is to get it going with the music app then back out of the music and open the other app (pandora, crackle) and the audio will switch. As far as getting the audio initially try running the music on the ipad then toggle airplay on and skip back to the initial song. At this point if you still have no sound toggle screen mirroring as well all while letting the song run on the ipad.

  • Iphoto journals from iPad to mac via itunes

Where do iphoto journals go to when they are uploaded to itunes from the ipad?
I know journals created on the ipad have to stay on the ipad if you want to edit them.  I just want to save them on my mac as a historical record.  I was advised about saving them as web journals
'you can save your Journal as a webpage to your Mac and then continue to maintain it using a web editor:  See:  export your web journal to iTunes'
but when I did this I couldn't find them in itunes.  Where do they go when they are exported?
I am hoping using this option I can still view them later.
If I delete the originals from the ipad and unpublish from icloud, if I create the new 'web journals' will I be able to then save those new web journals to the icloud so that others can see them?
I need to save space on the ipad!
    Thanks
    Veronica

Isn't the error message displayed by iTunes?  Can you check your Mac to see if there are actually duplicate files?
I'd recommend searching for an answer in the Apple Support Communities.

Please do let us know if the problem has started since the new update to Adobe Reader (version 11.3.0 or 11.3.1).  Thank you.

  • Export iPhoto photos from iPad to PC

I recently bought a new iPad and found it a great little tool. I picked the 64GB version because I want to also use it for photography. I then discovered iPhoto and found it to be a wonderful app. Taking images from my camera and editing them on the iPad is so easy and turns a chore into an entertaining activity.
Now I have a problem: I am not able to export these edited images to my PC for inclusion into my larger photo library and offline backup. I have to state that most of these photographs are not take with the built-in camera, but imported onto the iPad from my other cameras. I believe the only way to achieve this is to export each photo individually from within iPhoto to Camera Roll on the iPad (multiple exports are not allowed). Then I plug the iPad into the PC USB and pull these files off as I would do for any other USB storage device. This is not a workable solution as this involves many hundreds of photographs.
I do not want to send them up to Dropbox via WiFi and download them again to PC. That will i.a. mean using 2x bandwidth and cannot be done easily when I am travelling.
    Can someone help me please?

  • Give iPhoto slideshow from iPad as gift

Created iPhoto v.2 slideshow on iPad and need to save it to give as gift. How can I do that? Either burn it or flash drive. Do not own iMac. Have PC. Might be able to borrow macbook. Help!

Thanks! This is helpful! Will recipient then be able to keep it permenantly either on their Apple device or can they save it to one of their drives, a disk or a flash drive?
I would prefer to actually wrap a flash drive and give it to them, but if that is not possible, then so be it...

  • How to access same iPhoto library from MacBook and iPad without making a copy (sync option)

I have a simple question to you guys (tried to sort it out with Apple tech support but no luck there!)
How can I set up iPhoto in a way that I can have access to the same files from iPhoto on MacBook and from iPhoto app on iPad? I do not wish to sync files as this will create a copy of a file and also when for example you do editing of an image on Mac you want that to automatecly reflect on a file being viewed later on on iPad (and the other way around) without the need of a sync. option
I tested this with photo stream but the problem there is that in order to make any changes to an image you HAVE to do it in the library folder you can not do it in the photostream i.e you took a pix on your iPhone, - photostream pushed it to your iPad and to your Mac, - you've desided to let's say to crop the image on Mac then you've closed that image. When then you open the same image on your iPad (or iPhone) the image is not cropped, why? becouse you've edited an image inside the iPhoto library on the Mac and didn't sync it with iPad.
So it would be great if iPhone and Mac worked with the same library - save space and cleaner workflow!

    And again
    there is no solution today
You can not - there is no commonality between iPhoto on the Mac and on the iPad except the name
You can sync - you can use PhotoStream - you can not share a library - and IOS devices can not access external hard drives and if they could they can not read the contents of the iPhoto library since there is no commonality between iPhoto on the Mac and on the iPad except the nameYou can put your iPhoto library on an external drive if you wish as long as the volmne it is on is formattted Mac OS extended (journaled) - but that does not change the fact that neither the iPad nor the iPhone can access it since there is no commonality between iPhoto on the Mac and on the iPad except the nameIt really is extremely simple - you can not do it today
