Manage languages on iWork

I've been trying to fix some language issues I have on Pages '09 (on Keynote and on Numbers as well) because I work with different languages, depending on the document.
My MacBook Pro has set English as the default language and everything is displayed in English. But when I work in an other language on Pages (basically) I don't know how to set the language I'm going to work in when I open a new document or something. I could change each style to the wanted language but it would take so much time and I should do this each time I open a new document and need to work in a different language.
I also need to know how to mark the "Auto Capitalization" button but to perform just after a "." and not when I type the letter "i" when I'm not writing in English, because one of the languages I use the most in my documents is Catalan, and "i" means "and" not "I", which is "jo" fyi.
Finally, I'd like to know how to set the DIN-A4 size as default in all the default templates, since I never print on US Letter size. Otherwise I need to go to "page settings" each time I create a new document.
I'm sort of new to the iWork thing and I'm still learning how to move around so this question may be stupid, but I've tried and I haven't succeeded! hahaha
To sum up, I need to know how to:
Set a default language for Pages '09 (independently on the language I have set on my MacBook Pro)
Omit the "i" to "I" auto-capitalization when I'm not using English
Set DIN-A4 as the default size
Thanks in advanced!

Actually I made a mistake Catalan was also included in OSX 10.6.8.
You can switch your Input Source using command space and option command space.
However you need to understand that in Pages and elsewhere in OSX, languages are attributes of the text just like being bold, or red or in Times New Roman.
You can rapidly change all your styles in a document by just typing a series of words separated by returns.
Click on each in turn to apply all the styles in the Styles Drawer. Now select all the text and set the language in:
Inspector > Text > More > Language > click on each style in turn and update it via the red arrow next to it in the Styles Drawer > Save as Template
In your case there is no Catalan dictionary but you may be able to use the Español option and add the Catalan exceptions, using learn in the Spell Checker.
You are also supposed to be able to add the open language dictionaries from OpenOffice:

  • Desktop Manager: language input question

    My blackberry is bold 9700, and Desktop manager version is 5.0.1.18
    I heard that OS 5.0.0.351 (east Asia) can support Chinese character input.
    So I download it from: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=1905AEDAB9BF2477EDC068A355BBA31A
    and install it in PC.  then I launch "Desktop manager" -> "Application Loader" -> "Add or remove applications".   But in "Language and Input Support" , there is no "Chinese" selection.
    could anyone give me suggestion how to add this function?

    I came across the same issue. It took me hours this afternoon to work out the solution. Here you go:
    Preparation Step (optional, only if necessary): If there is existent data, like emails, contacts, etc. and You want to keep these, You have to backup it in some way. See Your BlackBerry manual for Backup.
    Uninstall any previous BlackBerry device software. Go to the Control Panel and then go to Add/Remove Programs. There You can find any previously installed device softwares. Don’t confuse the device software with the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
    Download the latest BlackBerry OS for Your specific BlackBerry model from this site (I chose the south east Asian version, You can choose the language on step 2 on the BlackBerry website):
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=EEFC9E10EBDC4A2333B42B2DBB8F27B6
    Install the files You just downloaded
    Make sure Your BlackBerry device is connected to Your desktop PC and the BlackBerry Desktop Manager is NOT running.
    Go to the folder of Your BlackBerry device software loader:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    There You can find a file named VENDOR.XML. Rename it or delete it.
    Open a console window and go to the BlackBerry folder by entering:
    cd C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader\
    enter:
    Loader.exe /nojvm
    This should start the installation routine.
    After a short while You see a window where You can choose what to install. See picture below.
    Finish Your installation. The first reboot after installing the new OS software on Your BlackBerry might take half an hour, so You better drink some tea meanwhile.
    If You reach this step, You almost made it. Pinyin and other input methods! Don’t forget to install the necessary fonts as well.
    Hope this helps, Tina. ;-)

  • How to change BB desktop manager language ?

    On another note - how do you insert screen shots into a msg such as this?? I tried the Paste from Word but that did not work for whatever reason....
    Thanks....
    In order to post a picture, you will first have to host it online at any one of the many free or paying hosting sites across the web. Photobucket is a good example. Then you can either post the picture as a link (suggested) or as a picture to be displayed. Either of those two can be done by clicking one of the two buttons in the posting menu above your message box when you are typing a response or new thread. The "Insert/edit link" button looks like a simple, silver chain link. The "Insert/edit image" looks like a tree with a blue background. Good luck.

  • Content Management Languages

    Hi,
    In what languages is web access in Content Management available?
    Is any way to see that list?
    Thanks

    UCM is internationalized and can support localized web UIs. The 10gR3 release does not include the localization bundles (other than English, of course). We expect them to be released over the next 6-12 months.

  • How do you change language in iWork. went to use it and every template is in some other language???

    How can i change the language on the iwork templates?  they are all in something other than english?

    What did you do in school?
    The "something" is Latin and is a placeholder, just filler text which is replaced when you select it and type. As is explained in the manual and tutorials available under the Help menu,

  • Desktop Manager language change?

    So I live in Lebanon and I downloaded Desktop Manager. It's in arabic and I don't understand a word.
    Is there any way of changing the language without uninstalling or downloading it again?
    Thanks.

    Hi James-B,
    You may need re-download it again. (Modifying would likely call for the installation file)
    The following KB article should explain the process in more detail:

  • How can I manage and share iWork templates with users on OSX Lion Server?

    I would like to use the iWork templates shared in a local Lion OSX Server network.
    I would like everybody in the network to use the same iWork templates (is it possible to share these on the server?)
    And I want to be able to change or add templates to this shared folder so everybody in the organization has always the same and most up to date templates.
    Can somebody please tell me how to do this?

    The templates delivered with the apps are embedded in the apps and the license states:
    The folder used by the application to reach custom templates is on the local machine.
    You may store your custom templates in a folder on the Network but the users would be unable to reach them thru the "Create from a template" menu item. An easy workaround is to install an alias of the folder on every machine.
    I'm writing about templates with the official meaning.
    If, as several askers, you use the word to name documents, Pages is not designed for this kind of use.
    There is no provision in the app to allow several users to work simultaneously on a given document.

  • How to manage and classify iwork files?

    Maybe you can help me.
    I use a lot of written docs, iWork docs. I am looking for a way to store and classify them. Something like an iTunes for docs, where I can move around, give them tags, different lists etc. At the moment I just have them in different files in the finder, by years etc, but it is not enough. Thank you very much for your trouble.

    This is part of your solution:
    In +Inspector > Document > Info+ you can add *Author, Title Keyword and Comment*. This presumably can be searched for in Spotlight, allowing you to gather up like material into a series of nested folders.
    You can use Finder's Coverflow feature to thumb through these folders and preview them as you go without opening them.
    Also you can use the color Labels in Finder to add further classification to your files.
    Use *View Options* in Finder to reveal the Label and Comments and you can sort by these features.
    If you want a much beefed up Finder to reveal and control much more of your documents, look at PathFinder which is a Finder substitute, or Yep! which is an iPhoto like app to organise .pdfs of your documents.

  • How to manage language list in oracle bi logon page?

    Hello All!
    Can any one explain in detail, how "Select a Language" drop-down list is populated? How to exclude all but two languages from the list in BI 10g?
    It is well documented how to add languages, but this seems not to work in reverse. That is, deleting l_xx folders and modifying .xml files do not help.
    All that I see now, is that list is populated by <sawm:param input="3"> of a webmessage kmsgLogonLanguageForm in logoncontrolmessages.xml, but it is not clear to me, how it works in detail.
    Any help will be appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!
    A.K.

    Hello,
    in my instanceconfig.xml file there is no tag "AllowedLanguages".
    I is this the right path at all to the instanceconfig.xml file?:
    C:\oracle\MiddlewareBI\instances\instance1\config\OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent\coreapplication_obips1
    I tried to put the changed tags in the instanceconfig.xml on several places. But it doesn`t work.
    On which level in the instanceconfig.xml file must i put it in?
    Do i have to put other tags around them?
    I only need two languages:
    <AllowedLanguages>en,de</AllowedLanguages>
    Because in the doc "System Administrator's Guide for Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition 11g Release 1 (11.1.1)" on page 22-4 there is an error:
    <ServerInstance>
    <DefaultStyle>myStyle</DefaultStyle>
    <DefaultSkin>mySkin</DefaultSkin>
    </ServerInstance>
    But it should be:
    <ServerInstance>
    <UI>
    <DefaultStyle>myStyle</DefaultStyle>
    <DefaultSkin>mySkin</DefaultSkin>
    </UI>
    </ServerInstance>
    Can someone help please?
    Best regards

  • Urgent : How to manage language translation in BSP iViews

    Hi All,
    I am required to maintain my Poratl in bi-lingual ie (German and English) language.
    Now my Portal has got BSP  iViews.
    Through OTR I can maintain both English and German texts for translation in the BSP application.
    When one logs in through R/3 system and executes the BSP application then depending on the sy-langu value the text is dispalyed in EN or DE.
    But if I log in through the portal how do I get the User language maintained in UME and depending on that do the translation of the BSP iViews.
    Please guide me through this.
    Waiting for your reply,
    Thanks & regards,
    Sweta

    You can modify the default portal language or even force a language for all users by modifying the following file :
    <J2EE root>\WEB-INF\portal\system\properties\prtDefault.properties
    Look at the following lines :
    This is the default language to be used when none is specified
    request.defaultlanguage=en
    request.defaultcountry=us
    If you prefer to have the same language for all users no matter their user locale, change the lines to this :
    This is the default language to be used when none is specified
    request.mandatorylanguage=en
    request.mandatorycountry=us

  • Czech language in iWorks

    Why I can not set Czech language for spelling in Pages? I was of the opinion, that as Lion supports Czech language, it should be possible.

    That's not correct, the languages available for spell checking are different than those available for OS localization.  You may be able to add a czech dictionary from another source.  See

    iWork apps like Pages can usually display Arabic correctly but have various bugs that probably make them unsuitable for this language for most purposes.

  • Solution manager requires Microsoft office products use language ENGLISH

    In config guide for Solman SP6 section 3.1.2, there is a requirement that MS office products must have language setting EN.
    Many of our customers use their own MS Office products with other language settings than EN.
    Is this really a requirement or what happens if any user does not have language setting EN active in her/his MS office product? Which services in SolMan does not work anymore?

    Solution manager language is english and in SAP business solution system (ERP2005) language is Finnish (=Finland). English and Finnish are in same code page. Customization in ERP should be created in Finnish language.
    Is there some limitations if languages are different or why did you asked?
    Regarding problems in config guide creation, macros in MS products are language dependent? like methodnames macro_execute() (EN) vs. macro_ausfuehren() (DE)? And if current language in MS product is other than EN, the macros used in config guide don't work?
