Manage user Properties

Hi All,
I am planning to import some users from AD to Sharepoint. The user profile sync service has started successfully. I could configure the sync connnections successfully and I did a full sychroniczation.
When i go to manage user profiles, the user is listed but i cant edit the profile. Same goes for manage user properties where the field can't be edited.
Rgds,
Ashley

Hi Ashromeo,
Whether you could not edit all fields in the user profile or just some fields.
Whether there were some errors when you tried to edit user profile.
Please have a try with the farm account, compare the result.
Please provide some screenshots about this isue, it will make others in the forum easy to find a solution for you.

  • Manage Profile Services - Unable to edit User Properties or User Profiles

SharePoint 2013 - fresh site, with Mysites, and the User Profile Service running.  The UPS is ran under a separate account, and the farm account has securityAdmin rights and directory replication rights.
When I enter Manage User Properties, I get a complete list of properties but no way to edit them, the same happens when I go into User Profile Properties, there is no where to edit the users.  Has anyone seen this before and if so what step have I missed
in setting the UPS and MySites Up.
Both Administrator and Farm Admin have Administrator rights to the UPS Application, and it's the Profile User Service that's running at the minute not the Profile User Synchronization Service.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    David

Thanks for the reply Adnan, however I think you missed the point. There is no capability to edit the properties, there's no dropdown to select edit form, in any of those areas against any of the properties.  I can see them but not edit them.
It must be a permissions problem but I've no idea where it may lie.
Here's how the UPS and Mysites were built:
Created a separate user for the UPS account (UserUPS), and registered it as a Managed Service account.
Added Replicating Directory Changes to the Farm account.
    Started the User Profile Service.
Created the UPS application using the UserUPS account for the application pool.
Configured the Directory Import - used SharePoint Active Directory Import.
Created a new Synchronization connection using the Farm account - it worked.
Ran the synchronization - it worked, everything was import.
Went into Manage Profile Service, Under People click on Manage User Profiles, entered a users name, clicked on it when it appeared - nothing, no edit capabilities at all.
So at a loss as to where I've gone wrong?
Ran Add-SPAdmin - it added the Farm account to the configuration db, and when I tried it against the Profile database it complained, basically saying not possible,
I'm out of ideas at the minute and need to get this working so we can use SharePoint to hold a Skills map.
    Thanks
    David

  • Customizing View in Manage User Profiles page in CA

Is there a way to add additional fields to the Manage User Profiles section in Central Administration? It is defaulted to Account Name, Preferred Name, and Email. I would like to add one of my custom columns front an center so that when I search for someone
I see that custom field up front.
    Thanks,

It is possible. Please refer to:

Just like any other custom search property you could use for User profiles too:

  • JANZ  User Properties in SOA Suite 11G

    Hi All,
I am trying to configure users in Oracle SOA Suite 11G to JANZ Realm . I am able to add user.
In documentation i see user property file present in this location "SOA_Oracle_Home\bpel\system\services\config\demo-users-properties.xml " , I don't have BPEL folder in SOA_SERVER1 , File available in 10G not in 11G.
Basically i am looking to set Manager to users which i define.
Users which i add in admin console are stored in WebLogin Embeded LDAP Server. I am able to see list of user by connecting server using LDAP Browser.
When i try to add manager attribute using LDAP Browser , it fails , record is not displayed in Jdeveloper .
Appreciate if your help in finding user properties or setting Manager role to the user. How can i add more attributes defined in documentation.

    Hi Siva,
I don't think still there is any support for PGP in Oracle SOA. You may use java for PGP encryption/decryption and transfer externally encoded messages over SFTP.

  • User Properties - Missing ZENworks tab

I am very new to Novell environments and am trying my best to follow directions, KB articles, support forum suggestions, etc... Perhaps this is a problem with our installation procedures, but I have been unable to locate the cause/fix for this problem to date.
We are running a Novell OES, NetWare 6.5, version 5.70.07 server. We also have C1 installed on the server, v 1.3.6h.
When I view the properties page for a user under NDS>TREE>CONTEXT, I am expecting to see a ZENworks tab with a Launcher Configuration page, but it's not there. I have installed ZENworks Desktop Management v7 SP1 Release 2, and the associated Desktop Management Services. I have extended the schema. But I still don't see this tab in the User Properties window.
I can only assume that I have missed a step somewhere, or have not configured something properly, but don't know where to begin researching this issue. If someone could just point me in the right direction, I would be more than happy to do the research on my own.
I should also note that I have registered for a Novell course 3080 so I can be brought up to speed on the basics of NetWare 6.5 and OES, but it doesn't start until next week. This missing tab is somewhat of a time-sensitive matter, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Most Likely you need to download and install the latest ZDM Plugins for
ZCM on your local copy of C1.

  • User Properties

Is there a way to change user properties assigned to nodes during runtime. For example, I have a user property 'Tooltip' assigned to few nodes and I display it using a UI element. I want to change this property based on selection of the options. Is this possible using a rule (CX or otherwise)? Thanks.

    Biju --
Endorsing Jason's suggestion...a dynamic User String Property is definitely the way to go here. Your CX will initialize, for example, UserStr01 to be the "Tooltip" User Property value on each node that has that Property. Your CX will also be responsible for managing how UserStr01 should change as the configuration changes. You may then use UserStr01 as the 'Rollover Text Source' in the UI Content Template that's being used to display your Options.

  • Exposing User properties in remote portlet?

I am somewhat familiar in firing methods and such with the EDK's.  But exposing some of the user meta data (i.e. Email, Title, etc) is proving to be more difficult.  Any help in the right direction?
    vr, Rich

Judging by the fact that you want Email, Title etc, I'd say you want User Info settings, not user properties (the former are user settings while the latter are objects themselves associated with the user).
    In VB:
    DimptContextAsPlumtree.Remote.Portlet.IPortletContextDimptRequestAsPlumtree.Remote.Portlet.IPortletRequestptContext= Plumtree.Remote.Portlet.PortletContextFactory.CreatePortletContext(Request, Response)ptRequest= ptContext.GetRequest()DimvalueAsStringvalue= ptRequest.GetSettingValue(Plumtree.Remote.Portlet.SettingType.UserInfo, "Title")
Make sure that user info settings you are interested in are selected in the User Information section for your web service and note their mapped name in the User Profile Manager.

  • How to manage users centally in OEM

    Hi All,
I am using OEM 12.1.0.1.0, I want to manage users centrally. Actually what I want is I may create user in my external LDAP and the created users appears in OEM also which I can use for say notification purpose. I want every property of the user defined in external LDAP like.. email address etc to get appeared in OEM. Here I am using embedded LDAP which comes by default with WebLogic server. Can anyone suggest me the correct steps to achieve this.
    Thanks in Advance!!

    Hi Roshni,
Have you read the Enterprise Manager 12c documentation on Security configuration? http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/doc.121/e24473/security.htm#BABGAGIJ
It lists the steps to set up users with external authentication such as LDAP. I don't know if additional user properties such as email will appear in EM though.
I am working on something similar but using AD authentication instead.

  • Filer using user properties in DIAdem

I added to my channels some user properties which values clarify the context of different channels, saving all channels in different TDM files. Working woth data loaded in the Data Portal or selecting dat for loading I would like to view / compare /process data with specific values of user properties. How can I filter my channels using User Properties content ?

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello Luca,
    This should be pretty easy.
In the NAVIGATOR, selected the"Advanced Search" button (little blue icon on the top right side of the NAVIGATOR Window).
Build the query based on your customer property (in your case a Channel property) in the query builder. If you have numeric properties, you can use ">" "<" ">=" "<=" and "=" for your queries. Queries can be connected with AND or OR, it should be pretty straight forward from there.
Let us know if you have any additional questions. If you do, it always helps to share your version of DIAdem and a few data files if you can.

  • Task Manager User

    Hello,
I have created users to assign user tasks.
This were the steps I did:
    application server -> OC4J_BPEL -> administration -> security.
I have added a group and four users.
    Questions:
    1) Is this the right way to do it?!
    2) Where do I configure user properties? Title, E-mail address phone number and so on? Do I have to do it in flow? Can I do it in the OC4j_BPEL?
    3) do I need Identity management installed?
    Thanks
    Gonçalo Ribeiro

    Hello,
    I have found the user-properties.xml in oraHome/integration/orabpel/system/services/config/
I have created a new entry with a user that already had been created by me.
    Questions:
    1) Do I have to edit the file add a new entry manually?
    2) the user has to be previous created in the OC4J like I explained in the previous post?
    Thanks

  • How can HelpDesk manage users in multiple Organizations in OIM R2

    Hi All,
I looking to satisfy a requirement for OIM 11g R2 where a helpdesk administrator can only manage users that belong to a particular institution. However, there are approximately 50% of users that belong to more than one institution, where helpdesk staff from each institution should be able to manage the user. Customer is currently
doing this in Waveset by assigning users to orgs dynamically through rules which allows multiple virtual orgs. OIM unfortunately has no way to assign a user to multiple orgs, making OOTB authorization management very difficult.
How can a administrators from different org manage same User. If that user belongs to different org?
How to achieve this in OIM R2?
    Thanks
    Akshat

    Hi Adr,
I know the OIM Authorization is around the Organization, and a user can present in only one org in OIM.
I wanted to know, can we force the authorization based on Department/Institutions rather than Org. I am thinking in reagards of OES Authorization policies.
OIM unfortunately has no way to assign a user to multiple orgs, making OOTB authorization management slightly difficult.
I am looking to determine the best approach to accommodate this requirement. Due to the high number of users that reside within multiple institutions, leveraging organizations will not work. Asa far i know OES APM should be able to accommodate this, but could not find any solid guidance in the Oracle training or Oracle by Example documentation.
    Any thoughts?

    Abhishek Madan

    Hi Abhishek,
According to your description, my understanding is that the User Profile Synchronization service stuck on ‘Starting’ or ‘Stopping’.
Please check whether you installed SQL 2012 Native Client (Pre-requisites) on SharePoint server. If yes, download and install SQL 2008 R2 Native Client from the below location:
    http://download.microsoft.com/download/9/1/3/9138773A-505D-43E2-AC08-9A77E1E0490B/1033/x64/sqlncli.msi
From the SharePoint server ->control panel -> add/Remove programs , please confirm that the SQL 2008 Native Client is listed.
Make sure that the farm account is a member of the Administrators group on the server on which you are trying to start the User Profile Synchronization service, then restart the SharePoint Timer Service.
Set the FIM services to "Local System" before starting the service.
There is a troubleshooting for User Profile Synchronization Service start issues, please have a look at:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg750257(v=office.14).aspx
Here are some similar posts for you to take a look at:
