Managed accounts in Mountain Lion have no access to App Store?

My son who uses a managed account now has no access to the App store, this happened after updating to Mountaion Lion.
If I convert his account to an administrators account it works fine, switch it back to managed and the problem returns even though the boxes are configured to allow him access.
How do I fix this?
Appreciate any help.

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Here's what to do:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
What do you mean by having no access to those apps? Can you start up your Mac and work with it, and only some OS X apps do not work?
Anyway, what you can try is to reinstall OS X. To do this, hold Command and R keys while your Mac is starting up and reinstall OS X. You will not lose any file.

You need to check to make sure you are actually connected to the network.  Tap Settings > WiFi >and then tap the blue ">" next to the network name with checkmark.  You should see a complete set of IP address but if the router didn't issue you an IP address properly, you will see your touch IP address start with 169.x.  If this is the case, you are connected to the internal network but not to the web.
First thing to do (while you are on that screen) is tap "Forget Network".  Then turn WiFi off.  Turn it back on and, if needed, tap Other and re-enter your network information.  If you continue to have problems, check with your IT department on Monday.
In the meantime, your laptop and iTunes can be used to purchase apps and music.  Syncing them with your touch is a great way to get them installed while you are waiting for the answer on your WiFi problem.

  • How do I access Mountain Lion 10.8.2 on App Store?

I have applications that are only officially supported in OS 10.8.2
I'd like to update to that version of the OS from 10.6.8 rather than the untested 10.8.3.
How do I get the 10.8.2 installer?
    Thx

Thanksf for the replies but perhaps my question wasn't written clearly enough.
I know how to get 10.8.3 and I know that there are people using it and it has no doubt been tested by Apple and beta testers.
However some folks like me use their computers in their businesses within complicated setups that involve third party/company software and hardware. Often a new release of the OS can break things in third party software.  The third party in their release notes indicate which OS they have tested their software with for compatibilitiy. In this case, I have official word that 10.8.2 should work fine and 10.8.3 is not yet approved.
The point I am getting at is that sometimes it makes sense, especially when using a Mac for business dependent on compatibility with other software, to use a slightly older release than the one currently on sale.
In the past, one could load an earlier version, often the one that came on a disk and update to the level that made sense.  Does the way the App Store works prevent that? Is there a way around it? Can one still buy 10.8.2 or an earlier version and update to the level desired?

  • How can i upgrade to OSX Mountain Lion other than from the app store?

I am trying to upgrade to OSX Mountain Lion from OSX Lion but i get this message:
"We could not complete your purchase. The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed."
Further I am able to download other programs from the app store (like growl) but it does not work for Mountail Lion ????
I looked through the forum and one post said that i have to use lion recovery to reinstall osX lion but then it defetes the objective of upgrading.
    Please help me
    Cheers

If your system's not compatible with 10.8 and has at least a Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU, phone the online Apple Store and order a download code for 10.7.

  • Mountain Lion will not download from app store

I have a new macbook pro running Lion, and I tried to download Mountain Lion from the app store yesterday.  it downloaded partly and but then the download seemed to stop. So I disinstalled the partially downloaded software and tried again. But when I try, the icon says "waiting" and the actual download never begins.  I've tried several times with the same result. What should I do?

  • Why isn't OS X Mountain Lion not downloading from Mac App Store?

    Hi all,
I have recently downloaded the OS upgrade to Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store for £13.99, and it is't downloading. Since purchasing I have received the bill from Apple outlining I have purchased the item. But nothing has happened as yet. I have looked under purchases in the Mac App Store and it just shows the progression bar...
    79.3 MB of 4.37 GB - Calculating...
I have restarted my IMac many times and still nothing!!!
What can I do?? I have the icon for Mountain Lion in the dock but the only options available I can see are... Pause, or Cancel Download.
    Please help!!!
I am running Mac OS X  version 10.6.8
    Thanks in advance

It looks stuck, and at this point, you probably ought to cancel the download and start it over again. (No worries about paying again... once you buy something in the App Store, you own it for as long as it stays in the store and can re-download it all you like.)
Also, before you consider installing the upgrade, note that there are some things you should do:
    1) Check all your software for compatibility with the new system.
    2) Repair the hard drive with Disk Utility.
    3) Make a full backup of your whole system using Time Machine.
    4) Ideally, make a second full backup of your whole system using something else, like Carbon Copy Cloner. (I consider two backups to be the minimum.)
    5) Wait until you have time to deal with any possible problems that crop up.
    6) Install the upgrade.
Some people recommend erasing your hard drive and installing the new system "cleanly." That certainly helps ensure that you don't have any problems with the new system, but is often unnecessary. I prefer to save clean installs for when they are actually necessary, but that is only an opinion. You can certainly choose to do a clean install if you prefer.

  • Mountain Lion won't download from app store even after I've purchased it

I have purchased and tried to download Mountain Lion OS X but the icon just says "waiting" and in the purchases tab on the App Store  it says "an error has occurred" and I can't click anything. What do I do? I just want to download it!

    i have resolved the issue.
I had to close down the App Store, re-open it, and in the purchases tab the error disappeared and the option to resume the download was there again. However, I have spent the last 3 days opening and closing the program, restarting my computer. There is obviously a problem with this because there are other users who've had the same issue. Its frustrating because Apple has already taken my $20. I could have easily gone to a store to buy it if I could.

  • Mountain Lion Download option disappeared from app store.

I purchased mountain lion and downloaded it to a few of my macs and I was trying to install it again and it no longer shows as a download option in the app store. Do they only let you download it a limited number of times?

No, whatever the problem is, that is not it.
Try signing out of the App Store, and signing in again. It should appear under "Purchases".
Make sure that you did not "hide" the purchase:

  • Mountain Lion won't download from App Store

Hello, I'm on the Mac OS X 10.6.8 and am currently trying to download Mountain Lion onto my computer. However, after I've made my purchase nothing happens when I try to download the software from the App Store. I've tried restarting my computer and App Store. Any ideas?

The loading bar for Mountain Lion actually showed up when I restarted my computer by using the software update. The downloading bar is still empty but I'm guessing I simply can expect quite some time for it to download?

  • Stuck in a limbo: can't install Safari or Lion/Mountain Lion, can't access App Store

If someone would take up this challenge and attempt to solve it with me, I would appreciate it! I have troubleshooted for 2 days now to no avail.
    This is what happened:
    1) I accidentally installed Safari 6.0, even if I have Lion 10.7. which doesn't run the new version
    2) This disabled my use of Safari and my access to App Store
    3) With a combination of AppDelete + Pacifist I tried deleting all Safari files, and re-installing old Safari 5.4 from scratch.
I rebooted, repaired permissions and did a disk check.
    4) Rebooted again, tried to open the newly installed Safari, but it gives an error:
"Check with the developer to make sure Safari works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X."
    5) At this point I thought to revert back to a previous point in Time Machine. Unfortunately all the points in Time Machine somehow showed Safari 6.0 (even a month-old points), so reverting back to an old point didn't help.
    6) I try logging into AppStore to upgrade to Mountain Lion, but I can't do that, since it needs Safari to run and I don't have a Safari anymore!
    7) Now I tried re-installing Lion from restart + cmd+R, and it asked for Apple ID to start the installation.
--> At this point I am getting desperate, as this computer was purchased second-hand, so I don't have the Apple ID used to install Lion!
    8) I try searching for Apple's official support, but obviously my warranty has expired, besides it's based in another country so they can only call cellphones from that country!
So I cannot enter App Store; reinstall Safari; reinstall Lion; or upgrade to Mountain Lion. I have no access to Apple official support. I currently work in a developing country with limited access to any MAC support.
I don't know what to try anymore!
    - How can I enter App Store without Safari?
    - How can I reinstall Lion without the original Apple ID?
    - How can I upgrade to Mountain Lion without App Store?
    I'm STUCK! Please help!!

    Anyone?
I finally managed to download the newest combo update and installed it successfully!
However Safari still doesn't open. It keeps saying the following:
Check with the developer to make sure Safari works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X.
I also finally got access to App Store: but the download of Mountain Lion doesn't complete, because it seems to need Safari.
So I'm still stuck with the two issues:
    i) Safari doesn't work, and I can't get it to work unless I can reinstall/upgrade the OS.
ii) I can't upgrade the OS without Safari!
--- unless someone knows a way to install Lion/Mountain Lion _without_ Safari??
    Thanks for all your help!

  • Two people using one account in Mountain Lion

My wife and I had a shared account in Snow Leopard.  In Mountain Lion, the accounts seem to be more customized for an individual, what with Notifications and iCloud and all.  I just got our new iMac last night and am configuring ML now for the first time.
My question: is there any point to having an account on Mountain Lion called "JohnandMary" or whatever (like I did on Snow Leopard) that lets us both have access to our notifications and stuff?
We often will be using the same documents and iTunes library and all kinds of other things, but obviously our personal messages and notifications would not be the same as each other.
What's a married couple to do?

No, I know how to make a new user.  Sorry if I was unclear.  I guess the real question is: is there a way to have one single "user" that incorporates both my wife's and my notifications?  I would like us to both share one user account so we dont have to constantly shift back and forth to access our documents.  Plus, our iTunes and iPhoto libraries are used by us both so I wouldnt want to split those up.

Try installing the Epson drivers from here:

and then seeing if adding and printing with USB works.
This site really works and my computer is now printing.
