Managed Folder linked to Entire Mailbox

Hello
I have an Exchange 2010 SP1 with Managed Folder Mailbox Policy configured to some users. It's configured to link with Inbox, Sent items,... and Entire
Mailbox.I
believe that due to the "Entire
Mailbox" link it
is deleting old contacts too. Considering that contacts don't get old as mails, I want to unlink it in the policy and let only the other folders, inbox, sent items,... How do I do this on Management Shell?

Create a Managed Folder Mailbox Policy, we should note that managed content settings that are applied to the Entire Mailbox folder control every folder in the mailbox except the followings, when using the managed default folder named Entire Mailbox.
• Managed custom folders (and their subfolders)
• Managed default folders (and their subfolders)
It is by design, I'm afraid we couldn't exclude a certain folder. However, you can take the retention tag and retention policy into consideration.

What happens when you try that method? What errors do you get? Have you ensured you've installed EWS 1.2 per the requirements listed in the script? (it actually mentions 1.1, but that no longer seems to be available, but 1.2 is here

I'm assuming you're running Exchange 2007 (since you're posting in the 2003/2007 forum, and this won't work on 2003), is that correct?
While I don't know for sure that the script will work on 2007, have you ensured that you've amended the file paths to the correct locations? Eg, assuming it should work you'll need to amend the line :
$service = New-Object Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.ExchangeService([Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.ExchangeVersion]::Exchange2010_SP1)
to reflect the version of Exchange you're running, and the line :
Import-Module -Name "C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange\Web Services\1.1\Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.dll"
with whatever version of EWS you've installed.

Managed folder policy will not apply to entire database

I have run several versions of this pshell command trying to set a MRM policy for a specific Exch2007 database, but the policy is not getting applied…..the mailboxes don’t show the policy
Get-Mailbox -domaincontroller DC.domain.com | Where{$_.Database -eq "mail\sg1\private information store"} | Set-Mailbox -ManagedFolderMailboxPolicy "90day"
When I run this version, it returns info about a corrupted mailbox.
If this mailbox is what is stopping the cmd from completing, is there a parameter to skip bad mailboxes?

What's the error/warning of that corrupted mailbox? Since it’s a corrupted mailbox, I suggest to disable this mailbox then run command to apply managed folder mailbox policy.
In addition, just set the policy on DB isn’t enough to see the effects in user’s Outlook. To do this we need to schedule the managed folder assistant to run on a mailbox server
For EMC:
“Server Configuration”->”Mailbox”->locate related mailbox role and right-click it->choose “Properties”
In the “Messaging Records Management” tab->set the running schedule
For EMS:

Managed Folder Mailbox Policy Automation Script

I am running Exchange server 2010 and recently enforced Managed Folder Mailbox policy to users. I need to write a script so all the future new mailboxes can get the policy automatically. We also have Retention polices in our environment.
Does anyone have a script handy? Thanks

As what mentioned above, you can use the command provided to apply the Managed Folder Mailbox policy to new users by scheduling a task in Task Scheduler.
In some cases, the new users can't get the policy immediately. For example, you schedule this task at 3:00PM every day, the new created mailboxes before 3:00PM wouldn't get this policy. It would not run the task until 3:00PM.
If you want to apply the policy to new users immediately after they are created in Exchange, I think you need to customize some scripts to achieve this. It is like triggering a script whenever the new-mailbox command is used. For more details about how to
process this, you can ask in the Script forum to get better help.

Retention Policy and Managed folder based retention

What is difference between "Retention Policy/ Policy Tags" and " Managed Content Settings"?
In my setup , my managed folder folder become general folder after following steps
1. Created Managed folder
2. Created managed content settings for IPM.post and IPM.Appointment with retention action "Delete and Allow recovery".
3. Created managed policy and applied to 1 mailbox, and this is working properly
But After that,
1. Created 3 retention tags(1 for inbox, 1 for sent, 1 personal).
2. Created retention policy combining these 3 tags.
3. Applied to SAME mailbox
4. Ran 'ManagedFolderAssitant'
**After this, Managed folder become general outlook folder.
So, cant I have "Managed folder based retention for managed folders" and General retention for "Inbox,Sent"

Exchange 2010 RTM introduced Retention Policies as the successor to the Message Records Management (MRM) technology introduced in Exchange 2007. MRM was the successor to Mailbox Manager Policies in Exchange 2003. Message Records Management is called MRM
1.0 and Retention Policies is being called MRM 2.0 for short. MRM 1.0 as well as MRM 2.0 are both available in Exchange 2010. Only difference is we can manage Retention Policies from the EMC and EMS, but the Managed Folder Mailbox Policy is only Managed from
the EMS through cmdlets in Exchange 2010 SP1.
It completely depends on your requirements when to use MRM 1.0 and when to Use MRM 2.0.
Certain new features are added in MRM 2.0 (Retention Policy) which allow us to manage our mailbox email items at very granular level. But if we are still happy with earlier version MRM 1.0 then we can continue using Managed folder mailbox
Policy in Exchange 2010.
[ Note: If we are Using the Retention Policy (MRM 2.0) then we can view the expiry of each and every email items of the folders on which the retention Policy is tagged and this can be only view from OWA and Outlook 2010, But this feature
is not available for Managed Folder Mailbox Policy (MRM 1.0) ]
We cannot use the Base Folder only switch in MRM 2.0 because it is TAG specific (DPT, RPT, and PPT) not Managed Folder specific.
Managed folder Mailbox Policy is folder specific this would be the major difference.

Custom Managed Folder - multiple content settings. Who wins?

I have the following content settings in a Managed Folder Mailbox Policy (non-applicable settings not listed):
Entire Mailbox delete IPM.Note after one year
Entire Mailbox delete IPM.Note.Microsoft.Conversation after seven days
Custom folder "Foo" where retention is disabled (so anything may be saved longer than a year)
As expected nothing is removed from the Custom Folder. Let's say I want to delete Conversation Histories after seven days in the hold folder. It is as easy as an additional content setting for the Foo folder and it will look something like this:
Entire Mailbox delete IPM.Note after one year
Entire Mailbox delete IPM.Note.Microsoft.Conversation after seven days
Custom folder "Foo" where retention is disabled (so anything may be saved longer than a year)
Custom folder "Foo" delete IPM.Note.Microsoft.Conversation after seven days
I obviously only want Conversation Histories deleted from the Foo folder and nothing else. Thx.

In GEneral, there are two types of Managed folder:Managed default folders and Managed custom folders.
Managed default folders Managed default folders are managed folder objects created for default folders such as Inbox, Deleted Items, Sent Items, and others. Exchange 2010 Setup creates a set of managed default folders. You can
use these folders or create additional ones for different sets of users.
Managed custom folders Managed custom folders are managed folder objects you can use to create custom folders in a user's mailbox. The folders are created under a top-level folder called Managed Folders.
For your question, as Entire mailbox belongs to Managed default folders. Therefore, the content setting for managed custom folders will apply to the custom folders. And the content setting for entire mailbox will only apply to the default folders such as
Inbox.

How to make a Shared mailbox folder appear on everyones mailbox automatically

Hello, I need to find a way for a Shared mailbox
folder to appear in everyone’s mailbox automatically – preferably in their favorites. We currently have a Public Folder where everyone in the company can drag or email any suspicious, fishing, etc.
emails. Unfortunately that is not good enough for our company's upper management. They
wants me to find a way to add a folder on everyone’s mailbox so they can easily find it under their favorites and drag any questionable messages to it.
I created a Shared mailbox for this purpose and a folder and I gave everyone access to it. Now
I’m not sure how to make this folder appear automatically in everyone’s mailbox favorites. If there is a way to accomplish this I would appreciate any suggestions. I wonder if there is a

I wouldn't recommend this method, trust me this might become mess if doesn't go to right direction. People might use this shared mailbox for their
own use. Best practice is to create a shared mailbox with some sensible name like [email protected] or
something like that and then share it on the announcement board or send an announcement mail to all users and ask them to forward their spam, suspicious, fishing mails to this address.

Outlook sync issues - downloads entire mailbox each time outlook

We have a user who's having a roaming profile on the Terminal Server environment.
Every time this user opens Outlook 2010, Outlook attempts to re-download his entire mailbox.
Troubleshooting steps:
We have tried completely removing and re-adding the Outlook profile to the machine (including removing the OST)
We have tried setting the account up on another machine, and have experienced the same issue.
We have tried setting this user up with a new mailbox in 365, and importing his mail into that.
But the issue is same, can you please help me on this issue.

By "re-download his entire mailbox", do the emails get duplicated, or Outlook creates a new .ost file and sync?
“Move to folder” rules in Outlook may get emails duplicated sometimes, please try to disable all the rules in Outlook temporarily then restart Outlook,
check if it will download the entire mailbox again. If the issue doesn't exist with all the rules disabled, try to find the conflicting rules and add “stop
processing more rules” as you need.
The issue may also caused by some security softwares with a virus scanner which integrates itself with Outlook or a too strictly configured
firewall, please disable firewall and the Anti-virus program/Security program to start Outlook again, test if issue persists.

Can cs5 Re-link an entire timelime with ease?

Hi All,
I have a project that after 3 months, now has 90 image sequences clips.
Over time they are spread over 3 hard drives and multiple folders.
All is well with cs5 for now, but I would like to put ALL of my targas & dpx files (which makes up the entire timeline) into 1 folder.
This way I know that the entire movie is located in 1 place instead of 3 hard drives!
I know if i move a file to another location, I will get the Missing file locator pop up box. I would then have to locate the missing file.
This would take days to re-link the entire timeline.
Anyone know if there is an easy way to re-link the entire Timeline?

Customizing parent folder link options in DiscussionForum Layout set

Hi All,
I have created a forum page with discussionForum layout set.Now, it shows the discussion groups inside it with parent folder link at the top.this parent folder link has some options like view,coolaboration,details etc which I need to customize...
By parent folder I mean like if A has x,y,z discussion groups:
If you click on x then, parent folder link changes to:
A-->x...there is a option menu just besides this link which I need to customize.
Can anyone give a clear idea to this problem??

Pls follow the below steps,
1. Go to sys admin> sys configuration> Knowledgemanagement --> content management -- >user interface.> settings> layout set
2. Search for Discussion layout set and open it.
3. In Collection renderer field, click on the link discussion group bread crumb
4. In the subsequent window, click on the collection command group : discussiongroupbreadcrumbcommandgroup.
5.in the next window, edit the command list field as per your requirement and save.

Managed Folder Policy - Missing Emails

We have a Managed Folders policy in place that my boss set up prior to leaving his job. However, a few users have complained that
emails in subfolders of the Managed Folders\Retain Folder have been purged. I don't know if these are user created or system created subfolders. I was under the assumption that anything under the Retain Folder would not be deleted. Emails directly under the
Retain folder are fine. Here is the only code I could find that was saved when the policy was created. Is there an argument that I should be adding? How does the retention of custom created subfolders work?

I suggest getting them back via database recovery.
Since we are going to move to Office 365 and don't want to change managed folder to retention policy, please make a full back up promptly to protect data in time.
Please double check whether the managed folder mailbox policy is configured correctly via following command:
Get-ManagedFolderMailboxPolicy | FL
Please check whether it has Event ID 9017 and 9018, to make sure the MRM working well.
Please check the Managed Folder Assitant service is working well.
Please increas the diagnostic logging level for the MRM, and then monitor the Event in the App log.

New Folder link in Ribbon menu, load home page instead of open Folder Name dialog box

In SharePoint 2013,
I have created new site collection under "\sites" managed path. Then I have created Sub-Site called "\sites\abc\Mobile" under it.
Now,
Site collection - http://sharepointweb/sites/abc and
Sub-Site - http://sharepointweb/sites/abc/Mobile
Site Template: Team Site / Publishing Site
After creation of the above, go to sub-site -> click on "Document" library -> Click on "New Folder" under "File" tab.
when click on New Folder link, it shows home page in dialog box instead of new folder name popup.
This is only happening for "Mobile" named sub-site under "/sites" managed path. Please try from your side and let me know.
May I know what the issue is? Please clarify.

1) When ever I have a message notification (be it missed call one or an sms alert),
it becomes difficult navigating in the "Messages" box : the reason is it opens
always in the last place where I left it. So I have to press Menu & then scroll down
to "View Folder" (pressing "v" also helps) & then it says "Select Folder".
Not, when you have a new message and you go to the message folder you can see the last place where you left, but if you press T (top) you can see the new messages. (always the new messages are in the top and you can't change this)
2) How to change the HOME PAGE of the Browser.
Go to the browser, one you are in press menu, options, browser configuration, and you can change the home page on bottom.
3) to extend the battery life, I read that all applications should be closed using the
"Close" option in its Menu. To see which all applications are currently running, one
should check on "Switch Application" - if you see application their, then it is open.
The problem I am having is some applications (appearing in S/A mode) I was able
to close (eg games etc), but some are not getting closed eg :messages, browser,
bb messenger.

Active Manager failed to mount database Mailbox Database?

So we had our stuff working fine with exchange 2010 rc and 08 r2 rtm... We installed antivirus on our server and now get the below message.... Everything "seems" to work though... We get two of these messages per reboot though... one with the main box database and one for the public folder one....
Again all seems to work okay, we have tried to remove AV but didnt fix.
Any suggestions?

I get this as well - two exchange 2010 SP1 UR2 servers. they host all roles on each, non-dag members as of now. Every time I reboot either server I get the same thing. MSExchangeRepl 3154 Service

Is there a way I can view/manage devices linked to my iCloud account?

Is there a way I can view/manage devices linked to my iCloud account? I know how to view the devices linked to my iTunes account, but I am not sure if this is possible to see with an iCloud account.

You can't, except by seeing if they are using services associated with the account. You could, for example, launch Find My iPhone on iCloud.com to see what devices appear (which obviously wouldn't show devices not using Find My iPhone). Similarly, you could go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage to see what devices appear on the Backups list (which won't show devices not using iCloud backup).

HT204074 I do not see a "Manage Devices" link when I access my account information through iTunes. I want to know how many devices are linked to my account. Can anyone help?

I have accessed the Apple Support site http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4627 but I could not find the "Manage Devices" link on iTunes. The advice they give is as follows:
You can view which devices or computers are currently associated, remove unused devices or computers, and see how long before they can be associated with a different Apple ID from the Account Information page in iTunes on your computer:
Open iTunes.
Sign in to your Apple ID by choosing Store > Sign In from the iTunes menu.
Choose Store > View My Account from the iTunes menu.
From the Account Information screen, click Manage Devices.
Next to each device or computer name, you will be able to see when each was associated to your Apple ID. You will also be able to track how many days are remaining before your associated devices or computers can be associated to a different Apple ID.

Please help me !! I'm desperate
I sold my iPhone 4s a few months ago.
Now i got my self a new iPad and created a new apple ID which i recently accociated with ITunes and ICloud.
However, i can't update anything on my Mac since it still requires the old apple id, even though i changed it anywhere i could.
I also don't get the manage devices when i tried to do this through the iTunes.
I have no idea what to do.
